Hello! This is the OOC! I'll be making the CS soon. Before I would like to hear about your characters in mind! As i'm leaning forward to some fun interactions and versatility around Luigi's new party members. Because Luigi basically had amnesia despite fighting the big bad guy. So slowly he remembers what he was doing with the help of ya'lls characters.

As far as characters go. It may depend on what you are going for! But Species related to star folks like lumas and whatever Geno was, is kinda off limits, star people of that kind. Completely original species are fine too.

Secondly, are we allowed to 'create' new locations or lore for the sake of a character's backstory (similar to how there was Nimbus land for Mallow)? And lastly (for now), do all of the party members get recruited at around the same time, or do they get recruited one y one over the course of the story?

Alright then! Glad to be here, I got a couple of ideas I wanna share so far and I’m curious as to what everyone would like to see as a character on my end! Here are the ideas so far:

Spoiler: Chicken Knight

Being a member of a chicken focused Order of Knights, this knight is an honor bound and virtuous individual, focusing entirely on honor and attempting his best in order to ensure that all goes well on his end and innocents are defended properly. The only downsides is that he can’t lie to save his skin, often known for misunderstanding situations and is so dedicated to being a knight that he refuses to do anything but charge headfirst into combat with nothing but a wooden sword. Nonetheless, he is still someone who tries his best to help everyone out and many would find him to be a real loyal individual. In combat, he focuses mainly on being a tanky individual, taking hits for others and using a variety of weapons and tools (starting off with a wood sword and cooking lid as a shield) with a variety of specialized attacks with said tools such as spinning around while slashing all around. Later on, he would even charge into combat riding on the back of a giant chicken mount.

Spoiler: Captain Bandit

A Bandit who is attempting to follow the steps of a certain General Guy (but doing things his own way), they are a more arrogant and confident individual, believing themselves to be the greater commander around. Although he often prefers others to take the blame for things and hiding behind them, but despite such, he considers his friends as ‘fellow soldiers’ and will try his best to lead them into victory. The Bandit himself will use a variety of weapons such as dynamite or a boxing glove, but mainly focuses on recruiting and calling the aid of a variety of minions in order to perform actions.

A mime avian lady wandering about, while being entirely silent, she expresses herself through her actions and wood signs, being entirely dedicated to her craft of acting and performing for others. She is of a more kinder and gentle sort, always trying to keep a smile on her face (and on everyone else’s face) no matter the situation, although being discouraged from her craft impacts her negatively and has an impact on the effectiveness of her powers and acting ability. Within combat, she is a complete wildcard, being able to use a variety of acting moves in order to mimic attacks or abilities of others alongside having a variety of support abilities ranging from healing all the way to improving offense/defense.

Personally, from the 3 character concepts. Captain bandit sounds the most entertaining to see as a party member.

Which does remind I should probably discuss how the loose rpg mechanics is gonna work.

I'm biased against the Avian Mime because I both dislike her image, as well as one of my character ideas is a Duplighost, which would fill in the blue mage niche that the mime avian lady seems to have (note that this isn't a definite thing; I have other character ideas and am not certain on going for the Duplighost). But I think that both Captain Bandit and Chicken Knight work well (both in respect to at least one of my character ideas, as well as with how I think they would work with Luigi). My personal favorite has to be with the Chicken Knight since I can see his original kingdom and its order of knights likely working as a plot point.

But on that topic, it should be good to know considering I do wanna know what limitations there would be for the mechanics and what not or how combat with multiple party members would work. Also planning an ‘code of honor’ for my knight lad that would explain why he would refuse to dodge in combat or announcing his presence first

Yeah in RPG mechanics I am borrowing mostly from Paper Mario in health, defense and flower points (Or mana points in standard rpgs) Luigi will actually have the standard move set of his older brother (Jumping, green fireball attacks and hammers that will be unlocked in the future.) and some abilities that helps with his soon to be party members in the adventures across sarasaland.

Luigi will start off at 10/10 hearts and 5/5 flower points for example with the DEF of 1(No armor as of now). How DEF works basically just reduces a DMG point with the character's current DEF points. Just easy maffs because I don't wanna lean in too much to big numbers. So an incoming dmg of 8 will feel 7 to Luigi for example!

When it comes to Luigi's party members ya'll can modify them to have Higher health or FP then lower some other stats. As long as it is balanced and synergizing with other characters!

I will be making the CS as well as Luigi's CS as an example later today!

Moreso a (still somewhat mysterious but humanoid looking) different species wearing a full suit of armor whose group is entirely dedicated to chickens and chicken related things alongside knight stuff. So basically think of them as shy guys in a way but instead wearing a suit of armor.

When it comes to Luigi's party members ya'll can modify them to have Higher health or FP then lower some other stats. As long as it is balanced and synergizing with other characters!

So my character is a Beanish person, the majority inhabitants of the Beanbean Kingdom. As far as how he fits into the party, I was thinking that he would fill a role similar to Mallow in Super Mario RPG, that being an offensive and healing spell caster.

I have a pretty well defined image of how he looks in my head, though I doubt I will find similar art, so he’ll probably just have a written description. Next up is to come up with a name, which will definitely be some kind of bean pun.

I think I came up with a few good ideas, which I can bring up tomorrow to share.

One idea is a Duplighost which suffered some type of discrimination in the past as a result of being a Duplighost (due to the people of the world fearing them taking over the identities of them and others if they are around (similar to what Doopliss does to Mario in TTYD)), and as a resort of it would be shy and skittish in the interpersonal manner, and would be with the party either due to being driven from her latest home, or simply because they treat her kindly. Gameplay-wise she would be a blue mage, able to copy the spells of enemies after observing them. I can see her character arc being about her learning to trust people once again.

The next idea is an ancient robot/magitek construct found by the party, made by an ancient civilization as a guardian of... some kind. The sands of time have wiped most of its memory banks. However, knowing it has duties as a guardian, it joins the party to prevent the misuse of a powerful item like the dreamweaver crown. I see it being highly logical and deadpan, lacking much emotion and being focused on 'efficiency'. Gameplay-wise I see it either working as a defensive stalwart, or a glass cannon. For appearance, I'm undecided (could go 'cute ancient robot girl' or something like a golem). For character arcs, I can see it learning how to be a person, and not just a machine.

With more time I could think of other character ideas, but how are these, you think?

Sarasaland (Image to be added) An empire combining 4 kingdoms under the great rule of Princess Daisy. A far land separate from the mushroom kingdom. Sarasaland is filled with wonderous kinds of folks and mysterious places waiting to be discovered! Daisy's small kingdom and magnificent castle...

I have made the Lore page for Sarasaland I will be adding some stuff there tomorrow such as other places outside of sarasaland and other stuff too.

In regards of the Mcguffin that is The Dreamweaver Crown. Its basically a magical crown that no one thought exists and the rare few who do think it is real; are about as sure as Luigi was in Mario 64. Luigi did come close to the dreamweaver crown but seems he can't remember.

To be honest I think I can draw the cast by hand, just cause I can. It seems like the tanky chicken vanguard is a go!

A mallow mage successor and a representative of superstar saga bean bean kingdom. We can work with that IC!

Honestly a Ghost party is a staple in paper mario. Given Luigi's big game is him in a mansion I really lean onto the Duplighost idea just from the ghost attribute alone; To be frank, at first I thought a Duplighost was from somewhere else and then Doopliss mention. I'd like to hear the other ideas too should it come to mind!

I dig the magic book notivation so that will be kept. I was thinking that they were going to originally they were on the quest to find their magic tome/book then came along with Luigi IC when the green mario starts spouting out something about a Dreamweaver Crown, which sounds way too powerful to be in the wrong hands.

Although its just my idea and not the confirmed canon if you have a different thing going on for your character.

Hmm, I actually have a moreso different idea that I had for my lad. I was thinking that said knight in chicken themed armor (haven’t said it but imagine a rooster comb on top of the helmet and white feathers attached to the arms of the armor alongside the cape) was that he is actually exiled from his home town/city (was thinking that said place would be focused on a variety of different bird themed clothing folk such as those born of the ‘Raven House’ wearing cloaks and having theming relating to Ravens) after facing the current weirder of ‘Ex-Cluck-libur’ and the current leading knight of the Chicken Knight order. However there is more than meets the eye in regards to the leader but that’s something I can explain later on. Nonetheless, said knight is on a quest in order to redeem himself and perform heroic and knightly acts in order to be allowed back into his home and potentially rechallenge the lead knight once more.
