#10 is especially important to keep in the very front of your mind, but I ask that you read it all as well, please! (': Thank you!
Just keep these in mind! But most of all, have fun!

#1 Please try to respond once a week, if not more! If you know you're going to be gone, or if you have lost interest, the OOC chat exists in part for that reason. Please, make use of it!
#2 That said, I encourage you to get to know each other in the OOC as well.
#3 In your response, I think it will be helpful to state things like the time(s), interaction(s), location(s), etc. that your response takes place in.
#4 Your first response may include what happens before the events of "at present" below, to give context of your character's life, etc.
#5 If you're unsure, do ask the other party for consent when your character is going to do something. Better safe than sorry!
#6 Character deaths may only happen if (a) the user has dropped out and they are okay with having their character killed, or (b) the user is doubling (or intends to double) and gives consent that one of their characters may be killed.
#7 All RP Nation rules apply here. Don't get too graphic.
#8 I included a balm for demons to conquer the sun for some time (read below). I hope with this, it will be a bit easier to respond for those who are playing a demon.
#9 If you have a question or any issues, feel free to ask me either in DM or the OOC thread!
#10 Since this is KNY, a story with undeniably very strong characters, I feel obligated to say this: powerful is okay, but let's not cross the "too powerful" line, yes? I'm giving any benefit of the doubt and my trust on this. Even hashira should not have a breezy time facing against demons equivalent to that of an Upper Moon. In other words, I'm trusting there's flaw in power, be it in personality or in the ability (eg. the nature of it) itself. The same applies for demons. TL ; DR Please don't spoil the fun for other members of the RP with severe OP-ness or god-modding!
If you do, I'll ask you to physically impair your character such that their abilities are hindered. And if push really comes to shove, I'll have to either (a) start hitting the kick hammer or (b) kill off your character and ask you to make a new one that's just not as powerful.
#11 Once again, and most importantly, have fun! โ™ก

โ€” BACKGROUND
It was 192X when the demon slayers have driven away Muzan under the rule of Ubuyashiki Kagaya and Kiriya. However, it is not yet the end for them. Muzan is still out there, alive and breathing somewhere in the shadows. Somewhere, he is gathering a new force under his sleeve. Therefore, the Ubuyashiki family, with its head now Haruto, continues the hunt.

The Demon Slaying Corps have still not been officially recognized by the government, even during Haruto as the head in 200X. However, he still has members (all of them who fit into society, leading their "day lives") who are willing to work with him to slay Muzan and his new subordinates, once and for all, so that Japan's "peace" is no longer just a fragile perception, but rather a fortified reality.

โ€” AT PRESENT
19:00, the Ubuyashiki Estate.

Haruto, age 15, has gathered a few of the demon slayers to discuss with them about the growing demonic activity, especially at night. The young boy was aware that these members seemed busy during the day, so he felt truly grateful, and so he offered them a brief bow, dipping his head. He expressed his worry through his posture, though his expression remained passive, calm. He would like the present slayers to come up with a consensus together. This issue is a serious one at hand right now, so he would like everybody to be on the same page and in agreement regarding how to solve this problem. "I would like this to be a space for discussion," he stated in a quiet yet undeniably firm tone, "I believe for such a serious issue, it will work best if we can come to an agreement so that we all know how to proceed and so that we are all willing to proceed as such."

โ€” BACKGROUND
Around a thousand years ago, the first demon was born: his name was Kibutsuji Muzan, or the "father of demons." Ever since then, the demon had formed the Twelve Demon Moons in order to attain his goal of becoming a demon that can walk completely conquering the sunlight. However, he has not had much success with that back in the Taishล era, when the Demon Slaying Corps drove him away.

After the Moons were completely abolished, Muzan hid in the shadows, gathering more demons, turning them and giving them his blood. There have also been humans who have made mutually beneficial deals with Muzan, and so with their help, a balm was created to temporarily block off the sun. Any demon who applied the balm would be able to temporarily conquer the sun. However, this balm didn't provide complete protection, as demons would still be prone to sensitivity (ie. it may feel uncomfortable). Because of these deals, the humans working with Muzan can continue a flowing supply of this balm.

So, under the veil of "peace," Muzan once again takes a step toward his goal...

โ€” AT PRESENT
19:00, Dimensional Infinity Fortress.

Muzan, with the help of the Biwa Woman, has summoned his subordinates to a meeting in the Dimensional Infinity Fortress, where no sunlight penetrated through, giving it its cooler air. As he looked down at them with his sharp, plum-colored eyes, he felt a knot of irritation flowing through his veins. He still kept a coldly calm composure though. "Well, have you made any progress? You should be aware that the Demon Slaying Corps still exists, and they are still on the move. Have you killed any of their members?" He narrowed his eyes: an attempt to instill intimidation. "Why else do you think you received my blood? You've got absolutely no right to my bloodโ€” it's a mere privilege. One that I can revoke at any time." He paused before continuing. "I care not if you have to work together. I just need your full devotion to fulfilling the goals on the table." When his statement was finished, he returned to a neutral expression; it was a silent gesture for the others to speak.

The familiar scents of black cherry cigars, darkened alcohol, and greasy body odor flooded the demon's senses. Delicate, spindly fingers twiddled with the cards in his hands as he kept his gaze downcast on the emerald green felt that spanned from edge to edge of the playing table. For a moment, he was tempted to touch it, but reconsidered quickly when he remembered the last patron to place their hands down on it. The male was a portly fellow who reeked of Jeager and cheap, 99c Russian cigars. He was much too loud, especially for a game as solemn as poker, and wouldn't shut up about the impossibly young, and - as he had stressed, teenage - female he had previous served relations with. Why he felt such the need to boast to strangers about his sinful escapades was simple due to the other textbook narcissistic traits the creep had exhibited, but the demon felt it was beneath his effort to actually take the time to profile him. After all, what good would it serve to study another jaded alcoholic who'd lost his kids in a nasty custody battle because he couldn't spend five minutes breaking outside of the carefully crafted ego he hid behind?

Yasunari's nose wrinkled in the slightest as he recoiled his hand away, even going so far as to glance in the general direction of the bathrooms and contemplate washing them of the imaginary filth. With a silent sigh, he straightened himself and brought the same hand up to gently tuck away a strand of wavy blonde hair that had wormed itself free from the lovely up do he'd put it in. Men and women alike were collecting themselves within the seats around his table and he only just took notice. The first was a poised older gentleman, freshly trimmed and dressed to seemingly the nines. His peppery hair was slicked back and wired round glasses threatened to fall at any moment from the tip his crooked Roman nose. The second was another man, young, probably around mid twenties, dressed in designer clothing. Yasunari identified Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vutton. The man was handsome, with sharp features and a smile that probably made many womens' hearts throb. Had he been human, perhaps Yasunari's own heart may have fluttered at it's sight. The third, and last to sit, was a middle aged women. Nothing particularly struck her as unique as she was dressed plainly and conservatively. Perhaps her children were grown now, and she had nothing better to do than to play games while her husband worked the night shift.

"Welcome," Yasunari said simply, his voice flat, bordering monotony. "Do we all know how to play the game?"

There was a series of "yes" or motions of agreement. Relieved, the demon gave a soft hum and shuffled the cards. Bets were placed within a moments notice. With expert hands he pitched the cards, each one flung with precision to land immaculately before the players in a neat pile. The older gentlemen let out a slight chuckle of delight.

"An expert in their craft, quite a sight to behold!" he said with a smile, glancing sideways to the blonde. "And just how long have you been at this, my dear girl? I may just need to bring you to show the boys my lucky find of the night."

Yasunari slammed the deck down audibly after dealing five cards face down before them in a neat, crisp line. He ignored the man's flirtatious behavior and flipped three of the cards face up. When he glanced up, he stared directly at the handsome younger man who sat directly across from him.

"May the lady of luck smile on you all tonight," he murmured unceremoniously and without an ounce of enthusiasm.

The handsome man grinned. "Then I guess my new goal of the night is to make you smile."

The game progressed. A pair here, a pair there, and nothing. The woman took the round, the second began with the fourth card flipped. Bets were placed, money suddenly began to run high as none chose to fold, and silence befell the table. Three of a kind, a straight, and nothing. Cards flashed quickly, Yasunari kept the pace with ease and studied those who sat at his table with only mild interest. He was no longer allowed to play games that required the house to be a player, as he garnered a reputation for being rigged. It left a sour taste in his mouth to be forced to cater to something as trivial as Texas Hold 'Em. The problem was, you had humans up against a creature with nearly a century's experience playing the games and without an ounce of sympathy.

The best and final hand ended in a four of a kind. It went to the gentleman in the middle, who nearly lost to the woman. Yasunari was neither impressed or entertained by the outcome but took it upon himself to force a smile. The guests took their leave, the elderly gentleman disgruntled at having been rudely brushed off in his distasteful advances while the woman bowed formally. The middle man gave another grin before winking, tossing a piece of paper over Yasunari's way and sauntering away like a lion bathed in oil. Numbers were scrawled on the paper, along with a small note; 'Thanks for the smile, lady luck.'
Yasunari blinked once, twice, three times. Knitting his brows together, he crumpled the piece of paper and tossed it away. His shift had ended, and with little enthusiasm, he gathered his belongings and took his leave from the casino. It would be nice to be freed from the raunchy scents and tactless humans, if not for 12 hours. He left silently and with little goodbyes to his coworkers, whom hadn't even realized he were there in the first place.

Upon reaching the turn down the alley to lead to his home, the sound of the biwa thrummed loudly within his ears. Eyes widening only slightly, the panels of doors leading down into the Dimensional Infinity Fortress sent him plummeting. For a moment he allowed himself to fall, his hair coming loose from it's styling and haori bellowing out with the rush of air. It felt nice, simply being suspended - as if time stopped completely. The rushing of tawny yellowed panels blurred, along with the infinite darkness that accompanied this fantastic fortress.

In the blink of an eye, he twerked his body into an ungodly rotation that left an audible "crack" within the air to land lightly on geta sandals. The pain of the broken spine was momentary before it churned itself back into place, and immediately the child took a bow down before his creator, who stood tall before him. Yasunari didn't have to look at the other Moons - he acknowledged their presences and knew them personally already. They didn't particularly strike his interest anymore after having known some of them for a human's lifetime. Muzan spoke audibly, additionally taking the blond away from his ever present thoughts and violating his head space with shared cells by echoing his words within him; "Well, have you made any progress? You should be aware that the Demon Slaying Corps still exists, and they are still on the move. Have you killed any of their members?" The ancient demon narrowed his eyes: an attempt to instill intimidation. "Why else do you think you received my blood? You've got absolutely no right to my bloodโ€” it's a mere privilege. One that I can revoke at any time." He paused before continuing. "I care not if you have to work together. I just need your full devotion to fulfilling the goals on the table."

Yasunari stared silently at the floor in thought. His brain mulled over each word carefully, digesting the information quickly, but his brain was slow to formulate his own words. Carefully, painfully, as if underwater, the words slowly came to him and were dragged out from the abyss in his mind. It took even longer, painfully so, for those words to then form themselves into sentences. Good, good. He was doing good. He was unaware that he was not being the only one spoken to, taking Muzan's words exceedingly literally. Although he didn't quite understand the implications of Muzan's subtle actions, anxiety rose anyways.

"I have not killed any Demon Slayers," he answered honestly. He kept his gaze down. His tone was very even, words coming out without an inch of hesitation. "The only thing that I have done is acquired the knowledge that there are 9 individual hashira and an army of worthless underlings padding them for numbers. I know of two of their Breaths, Void and Trickery, rumored from weaker demons who were recently slain," he paused, suddenly patting the floor with his hand. He blinked a few times before he spoke again, and should Muzan look closer into his mind, he'd realize that the demon was being almost earnestly sincere. "I apologize for my unacceptable failure. I received your blood as a gift, one that I feel blessed with for each passing day. Should you revoke it, that in itself would be a gift to die at your hand. I would like to repay my failure with honoring your desire to kill the hashira, should you be gracious enough to allow for me the chance."

INTERACTION/S: HARUTO ( tsukimii tsukimii )

Another phone call. Another job. Since morning, Vera had been running around doing different jobs for different employers. Sometimes near her home, sometimes it'd be too far and would require her to use the train. Sometimes it'd be simple such as compiling records, sometimes it'd be as complex as writing paradoxical theorems. Such is the life of a freelance - and this rigorous routine would continue each passing day as Vera continues to live as one.

The phone rings once more, and Vera groans as she picks up. After a quick, but tedious conversation, Vera left her "office" - if one could call it that, seeing as it appears way too similar to an abandoned dump.

Her current task - to fix an elder couple's mailbox, since it keeps getting broken by the naughty kids in their area. The only problem is, this is the fifth time she has received this job in this week. It's not really that troublesome, though it is starting to get on her nerves. Those naughty kids that keep thrashing the box, specifically. To the point that she's starting to think of waiting to ambush and beat up their puny little butts to teach them a lesson.

Before she could even step out of the alley to exit the district, her phone rang once more. This time, a repeatedly squawking crow was set as the ringtone. It was rather loud, and would easily catch one's attention - which deeply annoyed Vera. She didn't even answer, she just declined the call. Immediately, without hesitation.

After all, that was the ringtone that the young Ubuyashiki set when contacting demon slayers. And when that lad calls, it's usually something important - since the regularly issued missions and tasks weren't relayed by voice. Knowing this, Vera immediately headed to the train station - hoping to catch an early train to get dropped off at the her destination. Unfortunately, the elder couple's mailbox will have to wait for now.

The travel to her destination, including the time for walking and a few stops on the way, took an hour and a half - until she eventually reached Ubuyashiki Estate and got welcomed in. Once inside the designated area, she immediately sat down.

A deep breath, that could easily pass of as a sigh, left her mouth. "So, what 'issue' is it this time?", she gently caressed her nape. " You getting worried about having pimples? Or is it about some girl that you like?"

It would seem that the young Ubuyashiki's words failed to notify Vera about the urgency of the incoming talk.

RYOSUKE
Somewhere in Tokyo | 12:01 PM
Is this really it?.... People actually live here?

Ryosuke looked around his surroundings after confirming the address on the receipt. The ride on his motorcycle here wasn't too long but it felt like he had traveled to a desolated city. What stood in front of him was an aged two-story apartment building; it looked neglected and eerie, as did the structures next to it. Hm, whatever. The sooner I get this over with, the sooner I can get back to playing Grangreen Fantasy 's 1st Anniversary Event. Without further delay, Ryosuke took off the guitar case he had strapped on top of his leather jacket and hung it on the motorcycle handle bar. He made his way across the large parking lot sporting his usual scowl.

Apppaartment 214? Right, here we go. Ryosuke rang the bell and patiently waited for the door to open; when the door did open moments later it was abrupt and startling, revealing a middle-aged woman standing in the doorway with a deadpan expression. Without paying much attention to her, Ryosuke adjusted his baseball cap and began his mandatory sales pitch. "Good afternoon, I am Tachibana Ryosuke, your trusted repairman from Repair King: your one stop to fixing all of your cellular needs, now delivering within a five miles radius. Servicing all makes and models," each line was accompanied with a synchronized gesture and was completely devoid of enthusiasm. Silence quickly followed. The woman continued to stand there looking unimpressed as ever. H-how is she not going to say anything after all that?! This is awkward.. I guess I need more practice. Maybe I should have tried smiling. Whatever, let me just return her damn phone. Ryosuke reached for his fanny pack but was interrupted by a ripping sound, he looked up to find the woman in front of him slowly falling apart in two halves. Blood gushed from the lifeless body and made its way on Ryosuke, as well as the apartment door and the wooden floor under them.

What the heck?....

What the heck??

What the HECK!??!?!

The source of this mess now became clear. A demon that resembled a grasshopper disclosed itself and attempted to land another finishing blow. It was almost as tall as Ryosuke. The demon's appearance consisted of arms that were long pointy blades, a set of wings and antennas, and round beady eyes. Its eyes glistened with delight, it was not expecting another delicious snack so soon. Ryosuke contorted his body to evade from the assault but the demon still managed to scrape his cheek. I'M GOING TO DIE. Ryosuke ran to the nearest exit after kicking the demon in its face and shouting curse words in his head, and the demon followed suit. Arriving at the parking lot worsened Ryosuke's anxieties. The demon was far from done with him and the sun didn't seem to do any visible damage to it. Its speed was slightly affected if anything but that was all.

Guitar case. Guitar case. Guitar case. Ryosuke continuously reminded himself. Once he finally reached his motorcycle, he got a hold of said guitar case and pulled out a katana. Ryosuke knocked his hat off, exposing his messy red hair, and took a defensive position with both his hands wrapped around the hilt of his sword as the demon continued to approach him.

I HATE MY LIFE.

Ubuyashiki Estate | 7:50 PM | tsukimii tsukimii
Ryosuke wobbled his way to the meeting, a lot later than everyone else. He was covered in dried blood, sweat, and even tears. His clothes were torn from various places and there were numerous cuts and bruises all over his body. He had a frenzied look in his eyes. Upon joining everyone he respectfully bowed with whatever strength he had left. "Good afternoon, I... am Tachibaana Ryosuke, y-your truusted repairman... from Repair King: your o-one stop to fixing all of your cellular nee-" Ryosuke flopped to the ground mid-sentence and passed away.

"My lord." Amongst the escherian complex of tatami and shoji, a woman appeared. She cut a stark contrast against the ancient fortress, her overgrown, silver her framing a proper lady of the era. She was dressed fashionably, a woman whose efforts spent keeping up with modern trends were blatant. Before That Man, she kneeled, her position that reading half of reverant prayer and half of military discipline. The other subordinates didn't matter, not to her, That Man was the only thing that would occupy her mind, so long as she was here.

"I have made some strides against the Corps. A handful of Kinoto. A single Kinoe." The memory of a few nights past flashed through her mind. The gleam of blades under moonlight. A starry sky stained red. Blood, blood, and her hunger being stated. "A trifle, I'm afraid. The Hashira of this age are cowards. They hide themselves away, fearing for their lives. Those of my age would be ashamed, but I digress. I have nothing else to report."

At her words, the progenitor-demon's eyes narrowed but he deigned to not respond. His silence was one of a quiet fury, she was able to tell clear as day. His gaze alone was enough to send a message, and she felt it clearly enough. Pressure. Pushing her down to her haunches, the overwhelming mass of expectation that flowed out from That Man. It'd been some time since she'd been called to him like this, so she'd almost forgotten just how overwhelming his presence could be. It was a good reminder.

There was always a bigger fish. Even after two hundred years spent on God's green earth, that hadn't changed.

"If I may... Sir. I believe that hunting for them in this day and age is a fruitless effort. So many call this country home now, it's enough to turn my stomach. So we... I... I may need to take a different approach. If you would deign to lend... One or two, of your more disposable children. I may be able to make an effort. The Slayers of today have perverted their purpose, and sit on their laurels until we reveal ourselves, so... Perhaps we should do just that. With the balm at our disposal, an entirely new world is at our fingertips."

She paused for a moment, and mulled over her words.

"Though you are aware of that, I'm sure."

T A K A H A S H I , Y U I
Takahashi P.I. Office --> Abandoned House | 18:00
Interacting with: - | Mentions: -

Yui pushed the door to her office, her desk containing a manila folder about her latest case. The others were all neatly piled into the file cabinets that hugged her walls on all sides. She let out a sigh as she placed her nichirin blade onto the table, circling it and practically collapsing onto the chair - sliding backwards for a moment before she propelled herself back to her desk. It was nearing the night and she wanted to refresh herself on what she knew.

She grabbed the manila folder and began thumbing through the files and notes that she had compiled over the three day investigation on the missing boy Haruki. He had gone missing four days ago while he was alone in his house. According to witnesses and her own investigation, Haruki had gone out of his house during the night, a few hours before his mother came home from work. The house had received a call from an unknown number and Haruki had answered it. The unknown person had told Haruki that his mother asked for him to go to a certain location.

Yui had gone to the said location after the police had gone in. They stated there was nothing there. Not even a single hint of a clue. Yui thought differently. It was just that they weren't able to rationalize what the small damages to certain areas of the abandoned house was. It was certainly a demon that had kidnapped the poor boy - which meant that Haruki was most likely dead. A few more snooping around revealed that there were a few more young children that were taken as well. It was unfortunate that she had only noticed this issue now, or at least, someone had reported it to her.

She gently closed the manila folder and deposited it into the file case labeled "Unknown". She grabbed her blade and her phone. It was time to confront the demon. The locations all matched up. She quickly proceeded to the area of the abandoned house, surveying it carefully and now with eyes searching for the supernatural rather than the humane. She needed to draw the demon out, and nothing like using a bait for that. Currently, there was a young boy that had been called. As expected, it was from the same neighborhood, stating the same thing. The young boy had proceeded inside with little hesitation and Yui followed, erasing her presence as she did.

The house was deadly silent but Yui knew that something else was there. The oppressive aura of a demon slowly grew stronger and a black mass lunged at the young boy. Yui pushed herself off the ground and grabbed the boy by the waist and evaded the black figure - leaving a wisteria-infused smoke bomb to fill the space. The smoke began to rise up and the frustrated screech of the demon echoed inside the closed space. The boy shivered against her, seemingly broken out of his brave trance. She pressed a finger on top of her mouth to signal the boy to keep quiet as she placed him down on the doorway. She faced the cloud of smoke just as the demon launched itself at her. Yet, it passed through her form.

The demon had not lasted long under the domain of the Trickster.

Yui had just returned the boy to his home, much to the joy of his parents, and was about to head back to her office so that she may alert her earlier client about the demise of her child - there was no trace of the demon keeping his victims anywhere. Even after checking the entire place, there wasn't even a feeding area. She imagined the demon had eaten his victims and savored every single part. Any case that had involved demons would usually end like this - a grim result with the family not even having a body to bury. Or even if they did, it was too mangled to have an open casket funeral. Her phone was already on hand when it rang a familiar tune. A summons? She sighed and pocketed the phone as she turned her car to the direction of their head's estate.

She entered the meeting room, surveying the area and noting her fellow demon slayers present before turning to Haruto - dipping her body to a bow in respect of the head before moving to her position, sitting down with her sword to her side, as per usual. She never let it go unless she had to. Haruto had opened the floor for discussion once the other demon slayers had arrived. Yui felt the seriousness of the subject. Indeed, the demons have become more and more active lately - case in point with her mounting cases of sudden disappearances. She shifted in her seat as Vera spoke, an easy smile coming onto her face. "I would give anything for that to be the issues we normally face." She commented before turning back to the rest of them.

"It would be arrogant for me to say this, but if we truly wish to lessen the demon activity, it would be in our best interest to defeat Muzan himself. But alas, we still face the age old problem of not knowing where he is nor how to defeat him." Yui waved her hand dismissively. She had even used the leeway her private investigator license and connections within the police force and the government had given her to investigate certain crime scenes and restricted areas - and yet, she always faced dead ends. To say that it was frustrating was an understatement but there was no use in getting angry over failed results. "I'm currently attempting an investigation to find his whereabouts. I believe the key to this would be finding his direct subordinates - his Moons, if you will. Who knows, maybe we can get something from them." She reasoned out, but even that will be difficult. But if it was not this difficult, then the demons would have been wiped out long ago.

Shishigami RinHe had her! He had her in his grasp- she was bleeding out, she was exhausted beyond human ability, her eyes werenโ€™t focused at all! So how? How was she still standing? It was then that Igarashi, the demon, realised something. Were her eyes ever focused in the first place? The moment she turned and faced him, and understood that he was a demon, her eyes just drowned in what can only be madness. Those unearthly cries that he had supposed were just kiai, were nothing more than just that- bestial roars of a wild creature pursuing its prey with reckless abandon. Even as he lashed out now, trying to keep her away from him, she just simply ignored the gashes on her right arm her shoulder and her left thigh. If anything, it seemed to be making her even harder to hit, even harder to pin down. He swiped once more, throwing his arm forwards, trying to slam her onto the wall behind her. He saw her grit-- no, GNASH her teeth together was more accurate, and scampered to one side like an animal, dodging the blow. She leapt over his extended arm with an impromptu somersault, and pain shot through it, her blades slicing through it in mid-jump. He could barely utter out a cry of surprise and pain before she seemingly blasted off from the floor beneath her, her body shooting straight towards him like a bullet, that wild cry echoing through the empty apartments. He saw her blades cross themselves across her chest, and only just managed to duck under her as she shot past, her blades slicing at nothing.

He started to run. He was just some demon who wanted nothing more than just to eat, and do nothing else! If he had come across a much more proficient demon slayer, they would have finished him off quickly, or so he hoped. If he had come across a weaker one, he would have been able to take โ€˜em out, no problem! But this bitch! She was neither here nor there, she wasnโ€™t even properly trained, all she did was jump around and slash around like some wildling. What the hell was she gonna do next? THROW her swords at hi--

He barely managed to finish the sentence in his mind before another cry erupted from behind him. Though every fibre in his body cried out to him to just keep running and not look back, he subconsciously turned towards the sound, just in time to see a pink gleam of light reflect off the nearby streetlamp, before something heavy sank into his back, throwing him forwards onto the floor. His skull struck the cement, and it was all he could do to try and gather his senses from the trauma. He was healing, thanks to his gift of Lord Muzanโ€™s blood, but the sheer pressure she was putting on him was making it increasingly difficult to do anything but try to heal. Did that bitch really throw her sword?! What was her deal?! And what was that cawing sound from her pocket that was set to maximum volume?

He could not figure out what the cawing sound or what her deal was quick enough for her to deliver her second sword into his abdomen. He turned halfway to say something, but with two savage strokes, she ripped her swords out of his body, and sliced off his head. Igarashi the demon died without any final words. The creature that claimed her victory atop his disintegrating body roared triumphantly towards the sky.

---
It felt good to win. It felt good to kill these demons. It felt good. Her body didnโ€™t feel good though. Rinโ€™s arms finally fell to her side and she staggered over to the parapet of the apartment complex, leaning her body against it, breathing heavily. She was still far from being able to maintain Full Focus Breathing in high-octane intensity chases like these. If she couldnโ€™t, how could she face any of Muzanโ€™s top lieutenants? That was distressing. More distressing than the fact that her body felt like she had just been hit by a truck. Man, what she would do to really get hit by a truck and get sent to some isekai bullshit world. At least sheโ€™d get a yuri harem or something out of that, and life wouldnโ€™t suck so much.

She slid down onto the cold floor, and was suddenly aware of the incessant cawing that was coming from her pocket. Ugh. It was that annoying Ubayashiki brat. What did he want now? Grunting in pain, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She swiped at the message once, twice, then cursed, wiping the blood off from her fingers and her phone screen on her shirt, smudging a crimson smear across the bunnyโ€™s face on the white background. She tried it again, and finally managed to open up the message.

She read the message, then grimaced, shoving the phone back into her pocket. Great. Just great. She had an hour to get to a hospital to patch herself up, at least.

The first thing she saw was the collapsed form of another Slayer in Ubayashikiโ€™s residence. She scowled, and glanced over at the other gathered Slayers. โ€œFor a bunch of Pillars, you guys ainโ€™t much for supporting, are you?โ€ She crouched down and looped her hands around the downed Slayerโ€™s arms and neck, and with some effort, stood up, aiding the young man to his feet. She was glad her jacket and trousers covered up her new scars, and she wasnโ€™t sure if they had opened up again. She sure hoped not. She grunted as she dragged the semi-conscious Slayer over to Ubayashikiโ€™s side, and let him down slowly beside the kid. She straightened up slowly, careful not to aggravate her wounds any more than she already did.

โ€œSo whatโ€™s so important that you need a buncha low-grade beef like us cominโ€™ together with all these hoity-toity Wagyu-tier Pillars, huh?โ€

Haruto silently observed the slayers who came in. They certainly all possessed strong personalities of their own. Though his heart bore amusement, however, his composure remained calm, and his expression remained static. Arguably, somewhat hard to read unless you knew him well. As Kureha entered the room, her words triggered a small "oh" from his lips. "If only I had such time to worry about pimples and actively think about a girlfriend." He let out a small chuckle of amusement. "Though we have more dire matters to attend to."

Just then, another one of the slayers, Ryosuke, entered. Far from a graceful entrance, but Haruto never took Ryosuke to be the most graceful. Something must have happened before, because he looks physically battered up, his face caked with tears and blood, and his hair and clothes were disheveled and torn. When he flopped down, Haruto murmured to himself, "It appears the demons are running rampant."

He has the dedication. As expected of a demon slayer. "Thank you, Shishigami." Haruto dipped his head just slightly, a sign of gratitude.

Haruto waited for the rest of the slayers to assemble before he spoke again, his voice clear like glass. "I am sure you are aware of the continued threat that demons pose in Japan, given some of you guy's... experience prior to this, especially with Muzan's presence. I really do believe it is better if we can come to a consensus between us all, rather than solely more high-ranking members." He acknowledged Takahashi's statement with a nod and a slight smile before responding. "It's not arrogant, Takahashi. I believe that to be true. However, we would then be faced with the question: how do we track Muzan and his subordinates? I'm sure, like you guys, the demons are also hiding in the throng of people, after all. Have you encountered any of Muzan's most strongest subordinates thus far?" he inquired, tilting his head to the side.

Just the thought of having to listen to their excuses sent a wave of irritation through Muzan, but over the millennium he has lived, he knew very well how to control such emotions. He knew how to fuel it into his actions, and not merely his words. Although he much preferred seeing with his own eyes rather than hearing from their lips, he knew that if he was too impatient, his own plans would be foiled.

It required time. It required patience.

He has lived for a thousand years, and he could live for a thousand more if it meant achieving his own goals.

Yasunari and Yuki spoke their thoughts, reporting. Yasunari hadn't slain any, but Muzan found his intelligence and information useful. "Void and Trickery, yes?" Muzan appeared to be in his own thoughts for a brief moment. Although he hadn't witnessed these Breaths in action, he could tell simply from the names that they were going to be troublesome to deal with. "Yasunari," Muzan stated, his voice commanding like that of a king's, "You should actively look for those Breath users. And report new information promptly, or even betterโ€”" Muzan smiled; it was an icy smile that would chill any human's spine. "โ€”deal with them if you run into them." If he consumed such hashira, he would also surely acquire more strength.

His eyes narrowed once again at Yuki's proposal. What was she implying? "And you expect me to just hand over others for your use? I'm the one who will decide, but you tell me: what do you plan to do to further ensure success?" It wasn't as though he didn't trust Yukiโ€” at least she had killed slayers, thus reducing their forces and sending a message to the Corpsโ€” but he had no plans to help her without knowing in full of her intentions.

If they want to be considered his direct subordinatesโ€” the demons who had much of Muzan's blood running through their veins, their current performance would not do.

The Twelve Demon Moons have failed him. He no longer felt so generous so as to condone failure.

Ryosuke slowly regained his consciousness. He could feel his weight being supported by someone; their arms were now wrapped around him. His vision hadn't fully come back yet, but he managed to make out a pair of pink twin-tails dangling alongside them. A sudden realization hit Ryosuke. This is... He knew exactly who this was.

S-Shishigami-san?! Sakamoto-san's coworker?!?!?!

...WHY COULDN'T I HAVE JUST DIED? DYING IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. How am I going to face Sakamoto-san at work tomorrow?! To be helped by Sakamoto-san's friend.... THIS IS TRULY THE WORST.
Ryosuke had become more alert now than he was a minute ago. Ryosuke was always uncomfortable around Rin, not because of anything she did in particular, but because he felt guilty about hiding his reality from his girlfriend. Not being completely transparent with his girlfriend about his other part-time job and having her friend share this secret with him was 'the absolute worst' as he would put it.

"Thanks," Ryosuke uttered nonchalantly as he was positioned beside Ubayashiki. Ryosuke's mind at that moment was occupied with more than just demons and their whereabouts, or so he thought. He reached for his cell phone and quickly decided against it. No. Stooop... I have to be cool. Be cool. BE COOL, YOU GOOD-FOR-NOTHING DUMB-ASS.

"Bait." Despite Muzan's interrogations, Yuki's voice remained steady. "Despite their name, the Slayers first mandate is to defend. When left to pursue us on their own, they're slow and sluggish, but if something should threaten their precious peace... They'll be upon it immediately. If we were to expended just one or two of your younger kin, who knows what we'll be able to stumble across. Even if we aren't able to find one of the Pillars, any member of the organization might provide us an important insight. The modern world is, after all, terrifying. Should we know so much their face and name, might just be able to start down a trail that leads us to the current Ubuyashiki themself."

As she spoke, her mind ran through the plan in question. Lesser Demons, the sort that they could lose to afford, dispersed to major metropolitan areas and allowed to run wild. Preferably of a shade that was predisposed to gluttony. It'd only be a matter of time before they caught the eyes of the Slayers, and once that happened they'd be stumbling into their net. All they needed was one. One Slayer to lead them back to wherever the Ubuyashiki now called home, and they could end the organization in one fell swoop.

She was confident of that much.

"Though... Yusunari. That information of yours could be particularly important in regards to exposing the Hashira. If we were able to get our hands on one of them, alive especially, who knows what we would be able to glean?" She shifted her gaze to her fellow subordinate, and her voice seemed to shift slightly, adopting an intonation which was a touch closer to the one that the regulars of a certain maid cafe would have been familiar with. "Do you have a cellphone? It would be best for us to stay in contact, regarding this."

The blonde boy picked at a splinter on the floor as he looked up to stare at Muzan while he spoke. A forgotten person from long ago had told Yasunari that you were supposed to look at people when they spoke. It was a sign of respect, they had said. Or in some cases, a sign of being polite. Each word out of the legendary demonโ€™s mouth visualized in his mind and he listened intently. Slowly, the boy nodded, the declarations cementing themselves permanently into his brain. Look for the breath users of Void and Trickery, learn about them, report the information promptly. Even better, โ€˜deal with them.โ€™ Yasunari mentally made the checklist and he hummed softly to himself. From years of serving Muzan he'd come to realize that the last prompt on the mental list was not just a simple suggestion and it was, in fact, a command. The smile wasn't what smiles usually meant, either. It was a threat, and Yasunari had decided very recently that most of Muzan's smiles were not intended as friendly gestures like his emotion chart suggested. A bit confusing, but thankfully the blond didn't need to understand subtlety when instinct took over for him.

"Okay," he said finally, after a slight uncomfortable period of silence. "I will do just that."

Yes, he would do as told, absolutely. He simply hoped it wouldnโ€™t take as long as he predicted it would, especially given the word heโ€™d received about the two breaths was that neither style were easily dealt with or easily understood upon first glance. It was one thing to fight something linear such as water or fire breathing techniques, but itโ€™s another thing to have talented swordsmen and women create their own breaths. It was unexpected and often could cause problems. The blond stared back down at the ground, pale eyebrows furrowing together intently with thought. The splinter from the ground had shattered from the wood and shallowly lodged itself beneath the bed of his nail. Nimble fingers plucked it out.

Sounds and an additional voice sounded far off in his mind as he found himself slowly drifting away into his own thoughts. He'd taken it upon himself not to really connect or muddle in the affairs of the other demons for fear of over complicating things or accidentally disobeying orders. However, his name brought him back to reality and he lifted his head to look sideways. It was the girl with silver hair and an immaculate sense of modern fashion style. Yasunari found her incredibly beautiful. He made a mental note to tell her when he'd have the opportunity.

She'd just elaborated to lord Muzan about her idea, Yasunari believed, something along the lines of a stratagem involving the bait of similar kin to lure out the Hashira. He admitted to himself that it could work, but there were a lot of silent variables that would factor into the overall success that made him slightly anxious. Humans, unfortunately, don't conduct themselves identically in terms of behavior or intelligence.
Her tone had shifted, that much he was aware of, and she had asked him a question. "Do you have a cellphone? It would be best for us to stay in contact, regarding this."

Yasunari blinked. He sat up from his bow and reached into the small pouch bag he'd use to carry his belongings to and from the casino. The device in question was presented, a small bell charm dangling from the end. It lit up. The background chosen was one of his cats.

"I don't know how to use it very well," he admitted honestly. He scooted himself around to face her and held it outstretched up to her with both hands.
"I don't have friends or family so it doesn't ring much. Aside, I guess, from the occasional calls about a man telling me my house or car lease is about to expire; despite the fact I own neither."

Yui turned to Ryosuke as he stumbled inside when Rin had come to his aid - muttering something about the pillars not moving to help. She bit back a response and watched as Rin placed the injured boy onto one of the chairs next to Haruto. "As as much as I admire that you prioritized this meeting over heading to our medical wing, I will say that it is not the brightest idea." Yui rose from her seat as Haruto continue to speak and headed over to Ryosuke - reaching into her coat's pocket and procuring a vial of medicine that she always kept on her person. Normally, she'd drag an injured slayer to the medical wing but with the urgency of the issue, she would be willing to give him one of her temporary solutions. She waited for Haruto to pause for a moment so she could whisper and hand him the vial. "Drink this, it'll make you feel better. We'll get you to the med wing after this so we can check your injuries."

She took the seat close to Ryosuke to make sure she can keep an eye on his condition before turning her full attention back to Haruto. She agreed that it would be for the best if all of the slayers were present for something so big. They were making little progress with just the Pillars - which reminds her, where was Kaguya? In any case, Yui was rather thankful that maybe they can get more inputs from the younger generation of slayers. That is, as long as they would start giving them freely. She was aware that there were some younger slayers who were intimidating by the pillars.

"They're not as gullible or as obvious as their lesser brethren, unfortunately." Yui responded to Haruto once her statement was acknowledged. "Like Muzan, they've been hiding or putting themselves in a spotlight." It was rather unfortunate really. As much as she knows that encountering a Moon would pretty much equate to death if she was not prepared, Yui was rather curious on who the Moons are and what they are capable of. There was no doubt that their information network was much larger than their own considering the amount of demons that inhabit the night. "And I imagine that anyone who have encountered them are, unfortunately, not here with us anymore." She wondered if there was anybody who had encountered a Moon and lived to tell the tale. She definitely would have liked to hear about what they experienced.

"I'll try to keep my head down as much as possible. My job gives me leeway and perhaps a detective poking her nose too far into demon business and still survive to tell the tale is bound to get some attention." It was a risk that she was willing to take. When she entered the demon slayer scene, she was prepared to give her life for it - just like how those of her family who joined the corps promised. There was no shame in being a survivor, yes, but they also dedicated their lives to the eradication of the demons for the relative peace of their world. She turned to the others. "Perhaps there are clues that some of you may know, I would be glad to hear about it."

Iekami Kaguya

"nothing is nothing.โ€

The sky turned crimson as the sun sank farther and farther down. Despite the lingering beauty above them, a small group of children paid no mind to the weather, and instead huddled around a woman with pale, blue, hair. They wore matching uniforms and held wooden swords in their hands. They were covered in sweat, panting heavily, as they desperately lunged forward, one after the other. Kaguya easily dodged their attacks, an empty look on her face.

She appeared, almost suddenly, behind one of the students, knocking them to the ground with a swing of her sword. The second charged ahead and Kaguya countered his attack with a swift kick to the chest. The third student stood in a guarded position, shaking as he stared in awe at his sensei. She waited for a moment, studying the apprentice out of the corner of her eye. And then, she threw herself forward. She was so quick, it was nearly impossible to notice. It was as if she had turned invisible for a brief second, and appeared again, inches from his face. The student barely lifted his blade in time to block the first hit. Kaguya came in on the offensive, aggressively bashing the student with blow after blow, until he fell to the ground. Her sword pointed at his neck. The boy looked terrified as he realized what had happened. He looked around at his comrades, who all lay clutching their wounds and moaning in pain. Kaguya stood still for a moment before speaking,

"Mikasa, you need to be more aware of your surroundings and pay attention. I easily slipped past you. Akira, you left yourself completely open. You'll never kill anything if you continue to mindlessly swing your sword. Haru, you were able to block my first hit, but you didn't have the strength to continue defending yourself... You also let your fear take over. What business do you have being a slayer if you are too afraid to fight?" A gloomy, downcast look appeared on faces of all three apprentices as they hung their heads in embarrassment. They would receive no remorse from their sensei.

"Kaguya, they did well. You don't need to be so hard on the children." Observing from the estate, sat Fujiwara Saburo, a retired hashira of the mist pillar. He was cloaked in black haori. His hair was long and white and fell past his waist. His once pale, handsome face, was now wrinkled and scarred from countless battles with demons. He was sickly and he was also blind. If Kaguya was annoyed at her master's words, she did not show it. Caw! Caw! Before she could speak, a black crow appeared. It relayed orders from the Ubayashiki estate for a mandatory meeting of all the slayers. Kaguya threw the wooden sword to the side and went to the porch where her white nichirin blade lay beside her master. Mikasa, the youngest and only girl of the three apprentices, quickly fetched all of the wooden swords and put them away. The children looked expectantly at their sensei, Kaguya, as she equipped her weapon. They stared at the beautifully crafted, white metal, and the intricate details of the hilt, briefly dreaming of the day when they would get their own nichirin sword. With a hand on her hip she gave out her orders.

"Keep training until I get back. Fujiwara sensei will take over while I'm gone."

Saburo smiled as his pupil vanished into thin air. "Aren, I wonder what you would think of the kind of person Kaguya has become... She misses you... We all do." He recalled the headstrong tsukugo who regarded all of the younger apprentices like their were his younger siblings. Aren was always out helping them with their training, coddling them and taking them out for ramen when they did well. But all of that changed when he died, two years ago. Kaguya, who once looked up to her older brother, now resented him for his weakness, and she mercilessly ridiculed the students once he was gone. Of course both Saburo and the young students understood why she had become so cold. No one blamed her. Once Saburo was sure Kaguya was gone, he clapped his hands together, "Alright! Who wants ramennnnn???" The bruised and battered children puffed their cheeks out and bounced up and down excitedly, raising their hands and crying out in happiness. "Oooh! Me! Me! I want ramen! I want mine with fishcakes! I want mine with miso!! I want THREE eggs in mine!!!"

______________________________________

Kaguya walked into the Ubayashiki estate and took her place amongst the hashira. She bowed deeply to Ubayashiki Haruto. Kaguya arrived just as Ryosuke was being assisted by the other slayers. A look of shock briefly broke through her typically apathetic, bored gaze, at the sight of her bloodied comrade. There were so many people helping him at this point, it seemed pointless to stand and join them. She'd just be in the way. Kaguya narrowed her eyes at the pink-haired slayer who talked to Haruto with such casual informality. If Shishigami were not helping Ryosuke, Kaguya thought she might draw her blade. "Watch your tongue around master Ubayashiki." She spoke sharply at the girl, casting a judgemental look. She was worried about Ryosuke, more so than she would let on. Being emotional, caring, worrying; these were things she tried not to do, ever since her brother had died, but she subconsciously failed over and over again.

Shishigami Rin"Ok, boomer," was all she said to the older Slayer, her words dismissive. She didn't have the patience to talk to any of these Pillars. They weren't even half the Slayer that her brother was, so who gave them the right to even try and advice her on what she should do? What was this hag going to do anyway, draw her sword on her? Please, she wasn't like any of those easy mode demons that these Pillars had been putting down left and right, especially this Kagami hag, or whatever her name was, who had nothing else better to do than run her stupid dojo. None of the Pillars could ever compare to her brother. He died, sure, but he was a braver, stronger, better swordsman than any of these hack frauds could ever hope to be. Even now, even when he had already long left her alone, the flash of his sword in the night sky still looked so far away from her, like the many stars that dot the black canvas. She had a long way to climb to even meet his expectations. This dumb hag didn't understand what it meant to always be trying to climb that never-ending mountain. Who the hell was she to try and tell her how to talk to kids? Her blood boiled, and she wanted to cut, cut, cut cut cut cut cut, but she stayed her hand. She had to save that anger for the demons. She just couldn't help herself. Each time she looked at this bitch and saw how perfect she thought she was, and how level-headed she was, it angered her. Kagamine just couldn't understand. She never will understand what the young lion felt.

"Look, Haruto, if I had met a single one of them out on the streets, I wouldn't be talking to you right now. They're not Muzan's lieutenants because they go down like the dime a dozen chump change we find on the streets." She cast a glance at Ryosuke, who seemed to be practicing how to extract his phone from his pocket. She elbowed him in his side. "Oi, Ryo, what's gotten into you? Maybe you're the one who has girl problems with how you're looking at your phone. Anyway," she turned her attention back to the Ubayashiki youth. "I'm not the brains here. You've got your two perfect women here who can do everything. Knock their heads together a little bit, maybe some wisdom may come of it." She would volunteer to do it herself, too. Knock their heads together, that was. A smirk came to her scowling face for a split second at the thought, then quickly faded away. "As for me, I'm just some wildling in this urban forest. I'm no good at this strategy thing, only the thing with the swords and the slaying. I mean," she folded her arms and made a face, turning her gaze to the floor, "if we just keep doing what we're doing, it'll probably piss Muzan off enough that he'd be forced to show his hand...or something, right?"

Honestly, she didn't have any time for all this. She had entrance exams to study for, amidst doing her duty as a Slayer. Wasn't that good enough for the kid?

Iekami Kaguya

"nothing is nothing.โ€

Though Rin undoubtedly meant to rile up Kaguya, the void pillar remained unmoving and the expression on her face, barren. She sat in perfect posture with her back straight and her long, pale, blue, hair fixed neatly. Her skin was pale like paper and her grey eyes seemed almost lifeless. As a teen, Kaguya was once a very soft, warm and sensitive person. She was the shy, little sister who looked up to her brave older brother, always following him around and bringing him homemade bento and dorayaki. Any inkling of innocence corroded away the minute Aren died. All that was left now was the empty shell of someone Kaguya had once been. However, she proved herself to be far more naturally talented and capable than Aren, rapidly climbing to the ranks of the pillars as a way of fulfilling Aren's dreams.

With a vacant look on her face, she calmly responded to Rin's little dismissive quip about being a boomer, "Funny. I find that those who cling to such statements are often mentally incapable of formulating rational arguments." She studied Rin for a moment, tipped her head to the side and softly smiled. "It appears my hypothesis is correct."

"I'm no good at this strategy thing." She said. Clearly, Kaguya thought to herself. She seemed unfazed by any of the dirty looks or snide comments. She found the informal speech highly irritating, but so long as it didn't escalate, she wouldn't show any physical aggression.

"Muzan is over a thousand years old. He's not like a child when their toy has been taken away. He's not a thoughtless beast that can be tricked so easily. Making him angry could only prove to hurt more people. A hundred years ago as the Demon Slayer Corps were closing in on Kibutsuji and his upper moons, he managed to discover the location of the swordsmith's village. Countless innocent men, women and children were slaughtered that night. We also know that Muzan and his subordinates all share a telepathic connection, so any form of reconnaissance through a double-agent is out of the question. Someone who is adept at concealing their bloodlust might be able to learn some helpful information though. As a user of the breath of the void, I could prove useful in such an objective..." Kaguya referenced her breath style which relied on speed and bloodlust concealment to mimic invisibility.

"Otherwise, all we can do is focus on taking out moons when we can, and interrogating them. We should work quickly though, and have slayers stationed here and at the swordsmith village."

Shishigami RinShe was aghast, appalled, and amazed all at the same time. By the sleeping gods in Izumo, was this hag for real? Who even talks like that? She knew old grannies from tea houses that didn't speak like they just came out from a period piece set in the 20th century. They were a hundred years in the future already, and there were still people out there who talked like this?

"Yeah, okay," her face contorted through three levels of confusion, still trying to process the whole thing. "Whatever makes you happy, Katsudon," she waved dismissively. She had learned from experience that these kinds of people won't shut up if she kept talking. Clearly, this chick was off her rocker. She HAD to be joking. This kinda attitude ain't normal. She had seen weird people before, and this one was really weird. This was some next level chuunibyou stuff. Did her brother really work with people suffering from middle-school syndrome? She rolled up her sleeve to check her watch. Only five minutes had passed. Time was crawling, and she was suffering for it. She just wanted to go home. Her entire body ached, and the stitches were threatening to come undone. Anything but to be stuck in the same room with this stuck-up weirdo. She'd rather be with the nice old ladies at the local nursing home. They were less insufferable, and probably less prone to having their noses pointed so high up into the sky, one would swear their backs were gonna give. The personality flip from literally seething about her attitude to the Ubayashiki brat, to snide, archaic 'wow ur so immature' was probably sign of a bipolar personality disorder too, or psychopathy. Either one was NOT good to know. For all the wrong reasons, Rin was frightened. The Slayers were doomed. Demons have won. If these were the Pillars that held up mankind, humanity might as well start kowtowing to Muzan right now.

She groaned, pushing up the glasses on the bridge of her nose. Now what was she going on about? Bloodlust? Hiding her bloodlust? Really? Was that some kinda newfangled ability? She had heard of swordsmen being able to disguise their sword strokes, and mask their intents, and these very strange, very unique, unheard of techniques were called 'feints', but bloodlust seemed stupid. Konpachi clearly had some reverence for it, but it seemed so...specific in use that it was absolutely useless in practice What, did the demons have someone that relied completely on detecting this 'bloodlust' thing? Wasn't there only one demon like that in the history of Slayers? Wasn't he dead? Couldn't the other demons just use their eyes? Rin's jaw began to slack, her eyes dilating. What the heeeeeck? Could she just shut up? Just shut up, shut up shut up shut up?! Now she was talking about trying to capture a demon-- no, a MOON alive? And interrogate them? Once Rin remembered she had to breathe, she quickly took a sharp intake of oxygen and snapped back to life.

"Muzan has kill switches on his demons, Kagari-senpai, for one. While I certainly don't doubt that you could probably, I dunno, take one of the Moons alone and not come out of it missing a limb or four, but apparently," she rubbed her temples, "we mentally-incapable commercial beef cuts can't compare to mentally-efficient prime cuts."

Anger. Fury. Hatred. Disgust. Envy. Resentment. Get out of her sight. Get out of her way. Just die. Just disappear, then die and disappear again. Go into the void you love so much.

She faced Haruto again before she could lose herself, clapped her hands together, and bowed. She straightened up. Her body felt warm- blood was rushing through it. It was the same feeling as the one she had every time she went for a hunt. "If Queen Kalamari here wants to focus on 'taking out Moons' and trying to interrogate them despite knowing what they can do and what Muzan himself can do to them, I'm not gonna stop her or her posse." She gritted her teeth. "I'm not gonna die for some idiot who speaks like she's from the Taisho era. Not before I can surpass my brother," she hissed. She needed to go home and recover. Full Focus Breathing or not, walking around was bad for her wounds. She started to move, before a sharp pain lanced through her leg, and she stumbled, falling to her knee. She could feel something warm spread across her thigh. Pain and anger melded into one dark feeling, and for an instant, she just felt like killing everything in the room.

She winced, and struggled back to her feet. "I'm just gonna kill them all, until one of those Moons pop their heads out, then I'll call for senpai over here so she can try out her interrogations. See how far that gets her, huh?"

Iekami Kaguya

"nothing is nothing.โ€

Kaguya watched Rin calmly. It was like the girl hadn't said a word to the pillar. On the outside she was stoic as possible, but on the inside there was no telling what tempests brewed. The bored look in her eyes remained as she observed the girl shaking in anger, and struggling to get ahold of her temper. As the young girl hurled her snide, childish comments, Kaguya felt the urge to draw her blade and teach her a lesson. Kaguya knew Fujiwara sensei would not approve. He'd ruffle her hair, tell her to "chill out" and offer to take everyone out for a bowl of udon. He was good with people. Kaguya was not. She was rough around the edges, emotionally distant, narrow-minded and kept to herself. She respected the other pillars, especially Ubayashiki and Fujiwara, but she could be cold, cruel even, to anyone who showed weakness or disrespect. Ubayashiki and the older pillars could probably recall the time when Kaguya was the sweet, soft, cheerful, little sister of Iekami Aren.

It's interesting... She can't be more than a year younger than me, yet she acts like such a child; Kicking and screaming, demanding attention and acknowledgment with such entitlement. Her temper will get her killed one day. Or worse, someone else. Kaguya watched the young slayer fall to the ground as blood soaked through her clothing. A part of her was slightly concerned, but she did not show it. Instead, she maintained that dead stare. Pitiful... As the girl continued to bleed out on the floor, struggling to stand, Kaguya continued speaking, completely ignoring her, as if she could care less.

"I would never suggest interrogating upper moons. They have proven themselves to be far too loyal to Muzan, whereas the rest of Kibutsuji's subordinates tend to follow him out of fear. It also usually takes multiple swordsmen in order to bring them down. I only meant that interrogating lower moons and regular demons could yield some answers. Learning as much as we can so that we might take Muzan by surprise is our best bet, as far as interrogating goes." Kaguya finally looked over to acknowledge Rin. If she wants to act like a child, perhaps I should simply treat her like one?

"My breath style focuses on concealment and speed, enhancing the five senses for brief periods of time. Although it expands large amounts of energy, it has it's uses, one of them being reconnaissance. But you wouldn't know that..." Her voice sounded just as bored and empty as her eyes looked. "It would not be my direct intention to slay any demons on a mission such as this, only to gather information. But if I am discovered I will not hesitate to fight. And if I should die... Then so be it." Her eyes stared deeply into Rin's the whole time she spoke.

"Kibutsuji only ever used his kill switch on one moon because he was directly aware of her presence and that her being alive was hindering his battle against the slayers. He can't kill switch every demon we come across. He's powerful but he can't possibly know the whereabouts of every single demon at all times. It's a waste of time and he simply doesn't care enough... You're prejudice against which lives are worth saving and which aren't, is another trait that hinders you're ability to become a better swordsman. Although I find you naive and utterly irrelevant, If Kibutsuji himself were to burst into the estate at this very second, I would not hesitate to defend you, or anyone in this room." She paused for a moment, ending with what sounded like an almost endearing comment. Then, Kaguya, in a voice that sounded almost like she was taunting Rin spoke, "Did you get that? Was I... Clear enough for you?" She spoke as if she were explaining a new concept to a small child. She could be playful and coy in the most subtle way. At this point, she had gotten her point across and wasn't likely to speak much any further.

Ryosuke's back straightened up as he felt Rin elbowing him. He could feel his cheeks growing warm from the teasing. "Uh, no. I was just, um, trying to get a hold of my parents... I didn't report back to the store after the delivery, they're probably worried about me," he mumbled with an averted gaze.

This is so embarrassing! AAAAAAAGGH! I WANT TO DIE. Did anyone even believe your stupid lie just now? Ugh! You're so stupid. Just play it cool, Ryosuke. You're cool, Ryosuke reminded himself and maintained his poker face. Thankfully, the conversation carried on and he was no longer the topic of discussion. As much as he liked being the center of attention, this entire situation had been far from ideal. Yui, who was also sitting next to him, quietly handed him a vial of medicine and offered to accompany him to the infirmary. "Uh, thanks. I appreciate it," he accepted her kind gesture with slight hesitancy and bowed his head as a sign of gratitude.

Ryosuke sighed. These formalities were also the worst. His clothes were ruined, he was covered in bruises, and he hadn't spoken to his girlfriend all day. He was in no mood to participate in the current line of discussion or deal with any of these people. He was still in shock, he was just attacked by a freaking grasshopper - a human-sized one at that with knives for arms. All he wanted to do now was just find himself a warm, cozy bed to lay on and that was it. I would be lying if I were to say I'm not touched though, everyone seems really worried for me. It's kind of sweet. We're almost like a....

"Funny. I find that those who cling to such statements are often mentally incapable of formulating rational arguments."

"I'm not gonna die for some idiot who speaks like she's from the Taisho era. "

"Did you get that? Was I... Clear enough for you?"

Sazanami Kuon.

Whilst the attention of the demon slayers were focused on the red-head who would have been better off taking a trip to the medical ward instead, Kuon furtively slipped into the meeting room. In spite of his lack of promptness in responding to the message forwarded to his phone due to forgetting it in the kitchen while he studied in his room, it didnโ€™t appear that he was particularly late. However, as with many of their meetings, he had a gut feeling that today might be one of the days heโ€™d be better of fading into the background. And within minutes, his intuition was proven right once again.

Kuon blandly watched on as the two slayers, one hot and one cold, boldly assaulted each other with dismissive words. Thinking back to how his study time had been cut for the sake of watching a catfight, the ravenhead nearly rolled his eyes in disdain. Nevertheless, he still wore a perfectly constructed half-smile, as if he were full of concern for the heated situation.

Kuonโ€™s eyes trailed towards the sole demon slayer in the room that he was familiar with. Unfortunately, the Pillar of Trickery seemed keen on allowing the younger generation, as she liked to call them, throw up their opinions and ideas first. This left the remaining slayers two options: interrupt and give their own inputs or listen to Shishigami and Iekami potentially drag on as they each childishly tried to get the last word.

โ€œPardon my interruption,โ€ he said, his tone polite but not overly so, โ€œas Iekami-san semi-mentioned before in reference to the swordsmith village, Kibustuji and his demons have always been far more efficient at collecting information from us than we are from them. Because of this, I think Shishigami-san isnโ€™t completely wrong to want to wait for Kibutsuji to move first.โ€

Kuon paused and took a quick glance at the Pillars in the room. โ€œThis stalemate has gone on for decades, and Iโ€™m sure Kibutsuji is as anxious to see it end just as much as we do. We want their Demon Moons; they probably want our Pillars. Instead of scattering ourselves by all trying to chase after invisible leads, we could consider focusing on planning traps around the Pillars or having some of us accompany them instead while more or less going on as usual to avoid suspicion.โ€

Call it uncreative or unambitious, but there was little Kuon could work off of with their scant intel and capabilities. Compared to the demons, the Demon Slaying Corps had always been better at reacting than acting. Though, in the end, he admittedly just wanted the meeting to end sooner than later.

It has gotten quite clear to her that this whole meeting won't be getting anywhere - especially with no one trying to break up the two idiots that are verbally punching each other. It most likely won't even be long until the two draw swords and start whacking each other. Someone has got to stop them.

A loud and long sigh left Vera's mouth.

To be honest, she'd rather stay outside of their quarrel and all the nonsense that has transpired and is about to, but the words of a young teenage boy clearly won't cut it. And she's not sure if that detective woman would just sit still in the midst of this - she never has an idea of what goes on in that silly head of hers.

Thus, an adult's gotta step up.
Another sigh.

"Alright kids, that's enough. Your grade-school trash talk won't get us anywhere."

Here goes nothing.
First up, the blue haired pillar.

"You, whatever your name is.", Vera pointed. "You're a Pillar, start acting like it. Haruto here doesn't mind our way of talking with him, nor does it do him any harm. Besides, he's not our god-king or whatever, so it doesn't matter whether we speak formally or casually."

Vera scratched the side of her head, even though it wasn't itchy at all. "And stop talking like a smartass, you're only making yourself look more idiotic."

Next up, the hot-blooded slayer.

"Now, Pink Miku, some people would like it if you'd be a little more tactful with your words. However...", Vera gave her a thumbs up. "...I'm part of the few who really don't care. You got guts to not back down against someone ranked higher than you - and that I really like. Keep it up!"

A terrible advice, rather than a reprimand. But it is what it is.

And last but not least, the topic at hand.

"Alright, now that that's dealt with." Vera turned to face the young Ubuyashiki head. "The boy...", she gestured over to where Kuon was, "...and Pink Miku's right. In war, the best thing you can do is not to win, but to not lose. Just keep the status quo - the demons outnumber us, and they are definitely packing more heat than any of us can. Suddenly forcing change will only bring us to situations we're most likely not even ready to face yet."

She then, stood up, hand in her pocket - ready to bring out a stick and light it up. But seeing as most of these people would probably be against it, she decided that it would be better to smoke outside the room, at least. And as she began to head to the room's exit, she passed by the area where the Trickster Pillar and the wounded guy laid.

Leaning down, she whispered to the pillar. "Ah, Miss Detective, you better get Pink Miku and her boyfriend over here to get treated. They're not in good shape." Afterwards, she gently tapped Ryo's shoulder and gave him a thumbs up - an obvious hint that showed Vera's approval with Pink Miku and him.

And finally, she was out of the room. Sitting down on the porch, gazing at the green grass that covered the ground, she lit up a stick and took a hit. Her posture eased up as she siphoned the warm air, letting it remain inside her for a second before blowing out a puff of smoke.

After all that had transpired inside that room and the mess that were the grouped up slayers, this was truly a relief.

Yui watched the scene unfold before her - a petty fight between a pillar and a regular slayer. One who prized herself with sophistication and grace and the other who fought with bravery and savagery - both useful in their own ways depending on the wielder of the Breath. She shifted when Rin had questioned the usage of bloodlust as a form of weaponry. With the Breath of Trickery and the Breath of the Void closely intertwined with the manipulation of bloodlust, she had almost felt inclined to defend the art but had held herself back. There was absolutely no need to add oil to the fire but the two kept on going. Normally, it would be hard to rouse any hint of emotional backlash from Kaguya so it was rather impressive that Rin had managed to do it in a few words.

She had noted the arrival of her successor - the boy hurriedly but silently taking a seat to listen to the meeting. But, as it stands, there wasn't really a real meeting so much as it was just merely two people who had some form of pride riding over this fight. Once there was a lull in their argument, punctuated by Rin standing up - and falling back down with some injuries, she noted and silently cursing herself for not noticing immediately - Kuon had decided to give his own two cents. Vera had decided to speak up as well, first admonishing the two for their argument, and then agreeing with the younger's statements.

"Continuing with a defensive strategy hm?" Well, it was the better idea. The chances of them getting picked off one by one was disturbingly high if they did go on and investigate in their separate ways. As much as she wanted to avoid even more innocent casualties by ending this on their terms, Yui had to admit that they make a good point. "So you're proposing some sort of buddy system? Every pillar has one or two partners with them at all times?" Ever since she had risen to become a pillar, the only partner she ever took with her was Kuon and for the sole reason that he was her successor. But, if the Moons are going to target them, then this plan is for the best. Simply to wait for their targets to come to them instead of vice versa. "Well, I'd be down for that." If that's how they wanted to play this game, then so be it.

As Vera passed by her to inform her of the two's state, she nodded. "I was planning to, don't worry." She gave her associate a smile as the latter had gone out. Drumming her fingers on top of her thigh, she looked around. The tension had at least been broken but it didn't seem like everyone wants the meeting to continue longer than it has to. Not to mention Ryosuke and Rin's conditions weren't exactly good. She turned to the head of the Corps. "It seems that we've come to a decision Ubayashiki-san. Simply continue on with our business and keep ourselves on high alert. They come to us, we cut them down. It's the best plan we can come up with right now and, well, it doesn't seem like it would be ideal to continue discussions." She gestured around the room with a wave of her hand. Everyone was antsy. Vera had already left. Rin was about to walk out had it not been for her injuries stopping her mid-step. The others were growing restless. "If you don't mind, I'll be bringing Tachibana-san and Shishigami-san to the medical wing."

Yui had turned to look at Kuon before gesturing to Rin, silently asking for his help on bringing her to the infirmary. The girl was stubborn and feisty and she had an inkling that it wouldn't be easy to move her to the medical wing for her to recover. She then turned to Ryosuke. "Let's get you checked up." She said, softly patting his shoulder as she stood up and held out a helping hand to him.

Pling.

Asahi was smart enough to know when talking mattered and when it would just bring him into more trouble, especially after the decades he'd spent near Muzan's side. He'd seen what unnecessary excuses brought former Upper Moons. When he was no older than eleven, most of them had been slaughtered for their lack of diligence. A few of the demons here knew, and probably remembered that, and the countless other times Muzan had massacred his own Moons over demands they shouldn't have made to the man who had given them another chance at life.

At eleven, it was enthralling. Absolutely magnificent.

Pling.

He chose instead to listen to the words of his demonic progenitor, and the words of his fellow Moons. In truth, he had eaten a Demon Slayer in the past month. A young one; definitely not as put together as the Pillars. Seemed fresh. But he knew that wasn't impressive, especially to Muzan. If anything, the knowledge he had on the remaining Demon Slayers would be something Muzan appreciated more. Asahi chose still not to speak, wordlessly relaying the information to his leader, as he slowly fidgeted with the ring on his middle finger.

Pling.

There were the two pillars Yasunari had divulged details about, but there were more Slayers, of course. Four of them that he knew of. There might have been more. One with pink hair, with a beast-like manner of attacks. A red-haired klutz. A Slayer with grey hair, just as grey as the smoke that came from their lips. The unsettling Slayer that came across as gentle, but there was something missing. The "lesser" demons had been chattering around his bar, describing what they'd witnessed before running for their lives, and Asahi loved to hear and relay that information to Muzan.

Pling.

The elder demon's eyes crinkled, slightly; confirmation he'd "heard" Asahi. Nothing more than that, which was expected. It wasn't something he'd be enthused about, after all; it wasn't news the Demon Slayers were all dead. Or news that they'd found a way to make him even more perfect than he was. However, getting a reaction at all out of Muzan was something Asahi was happy to receive as he could have gotten nothing at all. He'd done good enough to stay alive, and really, that was a feat in itself. Although he wouldn't mind it if it were Muzan who took time out of his day to do the deed.

Pling.

Using younger demons as bait...he couldn't see something wrong with that, off the top of his head. There would always be more demons, if Muzan was willing. Using them as pawns to achieve bigger goals sounded on brand for the elder demon in front of him, and it could help to trap the Pillars. The bigger fish in the Demon Slayer sea. It could work. Asahi watched, amused, as Yasunari admitted how many scam calls he'd received.

Asahi couldn't help but glance to Momiji, who purposefully sat away from him, as always. He wondered what she thought of all of this. She'd probably tell him later. Right now, her attention was on Muzan, and rightfully so. He returned his own to his progenitor. He wondered what he would decide.

Pling.

Did he find Yuki's idea as smart as Asahi did?

Haruto chuckled. The dynamic of the group admittedly amused him, though it was undeniable that some of the members currently present in the room didn't... click as much. Rin and Kaguya being one such pair. Polar opposites, they were, as one would call it. "It's quite alright," he replied, "I quite enjoy a more casual atmosphere as well, provided we can get something done and ensure all of us are on the same page."

He didn't find the idea of cutting down demons as they came bad, but it wasn't about them. If they do that, more demons will be killed; however, just as easily, demons can be spawned just from ingesting a demon's blood. If they continued to cut down demons, how would Muzan counterattack? Or how would his subordinates react?

"I quite like the idea of a partnership, though would that be inconvenient?" Haruto inquired, "The Moons are deceased, but I imagine Muzan may be spawning demons who are just as strong as the Moons. Should you run into them, may I leave it to you guys then?" He agreed with Kuon. There was a pause that ensued, but it was quickly broken when his voice came back, this time laced with worry. "Though I trust you all deeply, my only caution is please be careful. You guys do not know much about these demons, yes? Knowledge can be a ferocious weapon; if I can get my hands on any information about said demons, I will notify you immediately. Otherwise, unless they actively provoke us, please don't provoke them for now."

He did not particularly mind that a member had left. He knew he could place his trust on all his members anyway.

Not only to slay demons, but also to survive and live in a world where they were acute of its true dangers. If Haruto can help it, he will do anything he can in his power.

"Am I clear? If I am, then you may leave. I am aware of the restless air, and I imagine you guys are busy people." Haruto bowed down in front of them as a gesture of appreciation.

He felt an inexplicable chill then. He had a feeling somethingโ€” he didn't know whatโ€” was going to happen very soon, if not tonight.

Muzan fell into a state of contemplation, listening to passing thoughts due to the effects of him sharing his blood (cells). He took into consideration how the Demon Slayers might be purposely waiting for him and his subordinates to make a move.

If that's what they want, then so be it. That is what they will get.

"I see," he replied. It was a small gesture of acknowledgement of the idea. It would be a means to take initiative. "So, you and Yasunari will work together on this." He had no qualms about disposing lesser demons. Demons who wouldn't or couldn't consume humans for strength. "If you intend to go with this, do start promptly."

He then turned to Asahi, who appeared to be wordless, though he continuously spoke through this link. Among other voices, his undeniably spoke the loudest. There were allegedly more slayers he talked about, though they didn't appear to be formal Pillars. Yet, with the way he described them, it sounded like they could easily be close to if not on a level of a Pillar. In response, his eyes crinkled.

Muzan didn't know what he wanted to achieve by not saying anything. If it was attention, he might as well entertain that and give it to Asahi, and if it is something else, then he deemed it more petty than useful.

"And?" Muzan's eyes met with Asahi's. "Do you have anything to say in this matter?" His words were posed like a question, but it was clear from his piercing and sharp gaze that he was commanding Asahi to use verbal words rather than silently relaying information to Muzan.

It was as clear as an unsullied crystal that this was an order, not a question.
