Inspired by Prison Playbook​

Welcome to Uljin Penitentiary. Home of criminals of all shapes and size in South Korea. Our men spend their days eating, sleeping, reading, watching television and socialising within their cells. Once a day, they’re eligible for outdoor recreational time, a shower and an optional job to gain credits to use in the prison shop (including woodwork, working in the kitchens, or construction work). Church is every Sunday. All these criminals are nothing but scum to society. There’s nothing special about them.

But the men in cell block two, room thirteen like to think otherwise.

The six inmates have been sharing the same cell for the last three months, becoming more comfortable with one and another. Each male has a different personality which may cause them to clash sometimes. However, they have a growing brotherly bond blossoming. The men are either new criminals or recently transferred criminals with three years left on their sentencing. Visitation for cell block area two is every Saturday in which they get to see their loved ones and friends. Every public holiday, the prison hosts family days in which family are allowed within the prison to see the lives their loved ones are living.

↬ This roleplay will have 18+ content in it (such as murder, suicide, abuse, swearing etc - give me allll the angst!) which may cause triggers. Please be wary of this prior to joining. We will abide by RPN rules, however. Fade to blacks for sexual scenes (cause you never know who might get lucky in prison)

↬ Set in South Korea

↬ 6 male roles with different backgrounds - one main character inmate per person

↬ Character ages ranging from 22 – 35 years old

↬ Doubling characters necessary for ‘visitation days’ and after their release (family members or friends of your character)

↬ Your character has either recently transferred to cellblock two, room thirteen or is new. Either way, they have 3 years left on their sentence. If they are a transferred character, you can socialize with other roleplayers to see if there is any past history between the pair or rumours they may of heard from other inmates.

↬ Characters can be of any ethnic background but please supply reasoning to why they'd be in a Korean prison

↬ If you wish to double as another prison inmate from a different cell or cell block, please let me know.

↬ Literacy and proper grammar is important

↬ Daily posting is not mandatory but it’s cool if you do

↬ Mary sues, Gary sues and whatyado’s can get lost

↬ Time change will occur in the roleplay

↬ Inmates have three more years left on their sentence. When the 3 years have passed, the roleplay will continue beyond to see how they cope with being social pariahs within Seoul, South Korea as they try to get their lives back together.

↬ Those who know if they will be inactive for a few days/weeks/months may have their character put into solitary confinement for being naughty

↬ Prison officers and inmates are free for everyone to use – brief character sheets will be created for them

The Drug Addict – Claimed by dazzling - Ever heard the saying ‘never get high off your own supply’? Well, this guy obviously didn’t and ended up behind bars after being caught with a house filled with drugs during a raid.

The Celebrity - Claimed by OSWonder - Celebrities don't go to jail, right? Wrong! Once an absolute heartthrob is now jail scum. Even though society might think he's the scum between their toes, all the inmates at Uljin Penitentiary are forever hunting him down for his autograph

The Jack-Of-All-Trade Kaist - Claimed by v e n u s – The resident inventor of the group. If the prison shop doesn’t have it in stock, you bet your sweet ass he can make it for you.

The Reformed Gangster – Claimed by Kipsy - Having joined a gang in his young years, his foolish actions landed him in with some time behind bars. He’s tired of his old ways and wants to leave with a clean start.

The Doctor – Claimed by sereiin - The eldest of the group; a smart corporate worker who ended up behind bars by taking the fall for the company’s embezzlement case. Seen as a leader of sorts as he is a champion of reciting the prisoner’ rights and writing petitions to improve the living conditions of his fellow inmates.
