So what do you call a mate, a buddy, or a friend? Chan? Kun?

Either you wouldn't use any honorffics if we were considered close enough, or if you still wanted to use one, it would be kun for two guys of relatively equal age. Someone younger of either gender would be chan(though geared toward girls more)
