You're Something Different

"Yeah, we broke up" Said Leonardo with a very matter-of-factly tone to his voice , as he picked at his lunch. The lunchroom food was supposed to be a mixture of steak and potatoes but it looked like canned dog food with a mixture of white puke; probably tasted like them too. "Are you serious? I thought you and Ashley had a good thing going on" Said his best friend Dean, a frown clearly plastered on his face, as he tossed his baseball from one hand to the other. "She didn't think so apparently " Leonardo said with a shrug, now looking at his friend from across the table, "She told me I was too 'Straight laced' or some shit. Called me boring." Dean choked back a laugh, "Oh that's cold. You okay man? I mean she was captain of the cheer leading Team, and hot to boot. You can't really get any better then that''

Leonardo gave another dispassionate shrug,
" It's fine. I wasn't really feeling her anyway. Seemed to me that I was just another one of her accessories. I looked nice with her, but she really didn't care about me. She told me at one point she'd rather date that Dolton Collins guy, if it meant it would add some excitement to her life" "Oh that loser??" Dean said in shock, now throwing the ball at Leonarodo. Leo caught it, threw it back at him. "I know right! I mean of all guys him?" Leonardo had Trigonometry with the neighborhood bad-boy, but he never really talked to him. Not like he wanted to though. He hardly came to class anyway. All he knew was that he was a walking inconvenience , that only caused trouble when he was nearby. Rumors surrounded him, and not the pleasant kind. He remembered hearing through the grapevine that he got high and smoked weed on top of the school building at one point. What a low class fool.

He glanced passed Dean to look at the table
he usually sat at. He rolled his eyes watching Him and the rest of his hooligan friends sitting around laughing up a storm. What the hell does he have that I don't? Of course he couldn't say he cared that Ashley and himself broke up, but the fact that she'd rather date Dolton over himself was pretty upsetting. He sighed and then brushed it off. What was the point of worrying about it now? Just when he was about to turn his attention back to dean, he heard a tray drop, and quickly looked back up. He gasped.

An unsuspecting person, which looked to be the neighborhood nerd Sheldon Reynolds, had tripped and spilled their lunch all over one of Dolton's Hooligan friends. He looked clearly Irate and ready to pummel Sheldon to the ground at any minute despite the fact that Sheldon kept apologizing.
"Oh fuck." Said Dean, and probably stated what everyone was thinking in the cafeteria, who was now watching the scene.

(Sorry for the long post hun! Promise my replies won't be as long in the future
:/ ) @HighFlyer

Dalton and his friends hooted and cheered loudly as he described in lurid detail his latest conquest. It was lunchtime on a Monday afternoon and this retelling had become a sort of ritual among the no good group. "Hell yeah!" Vic, Dalton's best friend cheered loudly, before glancing at something behind the glorious leader. "Fan club is staring," he mumbled. Everyone at the table trained their eyes on the preppy table, the contrast between the two tables was almost amusing. Dalton was loud and unruly, Leonardo was quiet and complacent. But as Leonardo occasionally glanced over at him and talked with his buddy, he couldn't help but wonder what they were talking about.

Now Dalton wasn't stupid, he always had one ear in the rumor mill and knew that Ashley, the head cheerleader, had broken up with the 'Jack of all trades'. But other rumors had been circling around and people were claiming that Dalton and Ashley were in a secret relationship. It was utter bullshit of course, because he would never go for someone so easy. But Dalton figured that if Leonardo believed it and had beef with him, he could shut things down real fast. He was about to reiterate this out loud to Vic, when Sloppy Sheldon came out of no where and wasted his food all over his friend.

The lunchroom was dead silent, aside from the terrified boy's repeated apologies. Dalton was aware of the entire cafeteria staring and knew he couldn't let this fly today. The chair scraped against the ground as he stood up, the sound resonating through the room. His hand flew out in a flash and tangled it in the boy's curly, greasy hair, pulling on it roughly and bringing the boy to his knees. Sheldon's voice jumped an octave as his apologizing became faster and more frantic. "Sheldon," he cooed mockingly, "you really did choose the wrong person to spill food on today." Dalton knew this wouldn't be a case where he would simply beat the living daylight out of Sheldon. He had to make a show out of it.

The lunchroom began to very quickly fill with yells of appraise from some people, others looked on with sympathy at the pitiful nerd. The yells grew even louder when Sheldon was forcibly put to his knees. It was barbaric in in Leonardos opinion. Since when was it okay to cheer when someone was getting their ass handed to them instead of actually helping?He wondered where the teachers were at the moment, and cursed when realizing most of them were at some teachers assembly being held today. Dean sucked his teeth before turning his head from the scene furrowing his brows along with shaking his head in shock, "Well he's officially fucked. Unlucky Bastard" He continued to throw his ball.

"Someone should really help him" Leonardo asserted. Dean snorted with a half smile, "Yeah? Who? No one's dumb enough to mess with those guys. Whoever does is clearly asking for a death wish" Leonarodo rolled his eyes. Those guys weren't so tough. Why was it people were so keen on hyping their toughness up? If anything, they were just a bunch of poser bullies, pretending to be bad boys, especially Dalton. What a joke. He wanted to definitely mess up that guy. Someone needed to knock him down a peg.

Leo dropped his fork, and stood up from his seat a smirk appearing on his face, " Well looks like I'm suicidal then" Dean glowered, "Are you serious leo? I know you're basically big man on campus but that doesn't mean their not going to mess you up" Leonardo's smirk grew even wider, "Ha, they can try. But they won't get very far" And with that said, he marched over there pulling his sleeves up. "Fuck shit up man!" Yelled dean after him. Leonardo internally laughed. Oh don't worry I intend to. He pushed through the crowd that was now forming around the two teens. "Hey!" He yelled, before pushing Dalton to the ground and off the frightened Geek. "You okay man?" He asked Sheldon before helping him up. Sheldon nodded, "Yeah I think. Thanks"

Dalton's ears rang as the blood thirsty and excited yells rang out in the cafeteria. It was quite a surprise that absolutely no one had approached him yet, seeing as his treatment towards Sheldon was unusually cruel. The poor kid had tears streaming down his face and was still pitifully begging for Dalton to stop. For a split second he hesitated. Why did he get so much pleasure out of hurting people? He seriously sounded like the beginnings of a psychopath, but he shrugged it off and focused his attentions back on the nerd in front of him. Suddenly, someone shoved him from behind and he found himself sprawled out on the ground like an idiot.

A quick glance behind him as he scrambled to his feet told him that it was none other than Leonardo, the stupid jock who thought he stood a chance against him. The boys at the table were on their feet in an instant, eager to back up their leader, but when Dalton shook his head slightly, they all sat back down. What the kids at this school didn't quite grasp was that his group of friends was more than what met the eye. They were a gang, a vicious gang that would kill and die for another member. Luckily for Leo, Dalton was feeling extra cocky today and didn't want his friends to step in for him. Dalton stepped forward, violating the boy's personal space by at least a foot. The two were almost nose to nose, Leo taller by barely half an inch. It was interesting to compare the two. Both of them radiated strength and power but while Leo was more so in a civilized and controlled manner, Dalton had a rugged and savage vibe to him.

"Wow," he laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. "Of all the people in the room, you stepped up to me? It's sweet, really. You want to rescue your classmate and sacrifice your own life instead." He cracked his knuckles and sneered at the boy. "I don't know where your confidence came from suddenly but I'm going to assume it's because of the rumors about your slut of an ex girlfriend. Sorry to disappoint you but, nothing happened. I would never. So I suggest you take your dainty self back over to your table with your pathetic friends and mind your own business, or things are gonna get real ugly, real quick."

(Kind of random, but can I just say How much I absolutely adore your writing style! Ahh)

For a moment it seemed that they were the only two people in the the cafeteria. Just two guys waiting to exchange blows, and brawl till the other was down on the floor, getting pummeled to oblivion. Leonardo sized the other up, an arrogant smirk appearing on his face when he watched him order his boys to stand down. What, was he their boss or something? Head of the pack? Seemed fitting since he was the biggest loser out of all of them. He only hardened his gaze when he stepped up to him, making sure the other knew he wasn't backing down. Oh this was going to be fun.

He took his gaze off Dalton for a quick second, and coincidentally saw Ashley looking on in the crowd behind Dalton. She looked amused for obvious reasons. She probably thought they were fighting over her, which surely wasn't the case. Kind of. She definitely was the reason why he was slightly irate at the douche-bag, but now it was just a matter of knocking a bully down to size. He tilted his head, to motion for Sheldon to get out the circle now forming around them, and he gladly obliged. He scurried out the ring of people as if his life depended on it.

He slightly gasped when he heard the insults that Dalton hurled at him. Not at the one's directed st him, but at the one's directed as Ash. The crowd oooh and started to yell things along the lines of, Are you just going to take that? and Holy shit this is getting good. He looked past Dalton and onto Ashley, who now looked teary-eyed. She covered her face with her hands and now ran out the crowd. He watched as she vacated the lunchroom, marching through the doubled doors. His heart broke seeing that. Sure she was a bitch, but she didn't deserve that public humiliation. He imagined her now heading into a bathroom to cry her eyes out, and that only made him feel for her even more. He turned his gaze back to Dalton, furry in his eyes. "Oh think you're so tough, big shot? Think I'm afraid of you? Think the fuck again asshole" And with that he threw the first punch at the other, and then proceeded to wail on the other with a series of punches.

((What do you mean? xD ))

Dalton almost laughed at the look of pure rage Leo directed at him. He opened his mouth to speak but was stopped by the wild fist that smashed into his teeth. Staggering back a few steps, Dalton spat out blood before returning some punches in the same infuriated manner. The two boys went at it, both lost in their own worlds and completely unaware of the crowd that was slowly dispersing. The warning bell had rung and the two of them had about two minutes remaining before they were officially tardy for their next class of the day. When Dalton realized that the other boy simply wasn't going to give up, he slyly slid his hand into his pocket and pulled out his switch blade. A flick of the wrist was all he needed to dislodge the blade and he held it out at the boy threateningly. "Alright man," he grunted, a pained voice foreign to his usually assertive one escaped his mouth. He paused slightly, tilting his head slightly at the boy in front of him. It had been a while since he had gotten into a fight with an opponent who was worthy, and a slight glimmer of admiration crept into his eyes. But when he cleared his throat, the glimmer was gone. "I know how they do it where you're from, one on one, fair fighting. But that's not what it's like in the streets man. You don't fight fair, you fight to win and right now I'm in control of this god damn situation. So I need you to just walk out of this room, because if you swing at me one more time, I'm going to gut you like a fucking fish for Sunday dinner." He jab the knife at the boy with a look of seriousness that bragged that he had done it before and that he would do it again.

(Like the way you describe things is awesome! I aspire to get that good. (OuO))

Leonardo tried to hide the hesitation in his face and movements, but to no avail. He backed up, putting his hands up in defense."You think that scares me big man?" he taunted. Was this guy crazy or what? Actually using a knife in a fist fight? He couldn't decide weather the guy was cowardly or just plain deranged. He contemplated for a few moments weather continuing this fight was a bright idea. As much as he hated to admit, the guy was more skilled at fighting then he was, and he didn't have much to lose if he did use the knife. He shook his head slightly. No. He was going to finish this, he wasn't going to back down from some idiotic ruffian. Leo cracked his neck and went to step up to Dalton, but was abruptly pulled back with huge force on his shoulder. He turned to see who did this and immediately cursed under his breath.

Principle Collins frowned at him, a sigh escaping his lips. He looked clearly disappointed and slightly irate but he didn't say anything to him. He looked over at Dalton, rolling his eyes, "So we meet again Dalton. And this time you're in a fight. What else is new" He looked to the knife Dalton clearly had in his head, but his expression didn't phase. Instead he exhaled and simply said, " Both of you. Come with me now"

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Do the both of you understand the gravity of the situation you're in? I could have the both of you expelled for your antics" Said principle Collins, glowering at them from across his desk, hands folded. He'd been scolding them for the past ten minutes now, which only made Leo feel all the more worse. He twiddled with his thumbs as he stood awkwardly in front of Principle. It wasn't like it was first time meeting the guy, it was just his first time meeting him under circumstances that weren't actually,well, good. He'd never been in trouble before this incident. The most he's ever done was litter and even then he felt like a total douche. Of course he didn't regret the fight - he never would - he just regretted disappointing the principle so much. God he hoped this wouldn't be on his permanent record.
Principle Collins held his temples, for a second before saying, "I realize that this was your first offense Leonardo, so I suppose the punishment shouldn't be too severe with you. But Dalton, you're a repeated offender". A small grin appeared on Leo's face hearing this. Good, expel this kid.
"But punishing you again isn't going to help. It hasn't in the past I've realized. You need some guidance. Some guidance from an upstanding citizen. Like Leonardo. So I've decided that the correct punishment for the both of you would would be. Leo, how about you tutor Dalton for the rest of the semester?"
Leo's grin dropped in a second after hearing this, "You can't be serious sir!" He cried.
Dalton was shocked when the boy taunted him again. He had thought that the knife would scare the boy off but clearly he had underestimated his counterpart. When Leo cracked his neck, Dalton braced himself. He didn't really wanna stab the guy, if he did that he'd be out of high school for good. When the Principal appeared out of nowhere, Dalton's heart dropped into the pit that was his stomach. The glance at the knife in his hand told him that this was going to be a punishment different from his previous suspensions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The whole time they were in the principal's office, Dalton had a small smirk on his face, finding Leo's nervousness quite amusing. The poor suck up had never been in trouble and Dalton knew this was eating away at his soul. Unfortunately, by what Mr. Collins was saying, it seemed that his punishment was going to be way more severe. But when the man dished out the punishment, Dalton groaned loudly. "Bull shit!" he exclaimed, not wanting to spend anymore time with the other boy. "I don't need a tutor! Look, I'm done being annoying and causing trouble. Just don't make me work with this stuck up kid."
