The red haired Gryffindor girl laughed along with him, a rare joy glinting in her vibrant green eyes. This was an emotion rarely seen from her. She more often pushed out a cold, 'leave me alone' attitude. Few people would ever manage to break down the countless barriers she had built up over time. But somehow there was something about this particular boy... "Yeah, being an Animagi is fun. And no, I am not allowed to fly the letters home in person. I tried, it didn't work."

Andre chuckled. "Aw. That eliminates half the fun." He let himself lay back down and rest his hand on his head. "I haven't been one for flying." He says, suddenly serious. He scanned the clear night sky. "Not since my accident as a kid." He continued. A lightning bug flitted by his head and he reached his hand out to catch it. He opens his hand and the lightning bug crawls out. "I fell from about two stories high. Not fatal, unless you land on your head like I did. I don't remember what happened. I just remember falling then waking up in my bed at home, but apparently that fall put me in a coma for about a week. My mum was worried sick. Thought she'd lost me. I was only 6." He sat up and looked at Johanna. "Haven't flown since. Been too afraid."

"Fear sucks the fun out of everything. That's why I live fearless..." She said, crossing her legs at the ankles and folding up a finger and watching the fireflies. A couple landed on her extended finger, and she examined them, while talking, "sure, this fearlessness has gotten me in several bad situations, I've been in the head mistress' office so many times, she looks up when I walk in and says, 'What did you do this time?'" She said, laughing a little, then looked at Andre, "That sucks though. Really. I can't imagine what that was like."

"Honestly, neither can I. I'm not scared for my own sake. I get into plenty of stupid situations. But I hate the thought of leaving my mother alone." Andre put his arms on his knees. "Her and I, that's it. That's our family. That's how it's always been. I'd hate to leave her alone. It would destroy her." He rested his chin on his arms. "I like Quidditch. I enjoy watching it so much. Maybe I should just suck it up and fly so I can maybe play at least one year before I leave Hogwarts..." He let the thought trail off.

"... No." she looked at him, then stood up and offered him a hand,"Being cautious is nothing to be ashamed of. If you don't want to fly, you don't have to fly." She said, then almost as an afterthought, she added cheerily,"But hey, you ought to come watch me kick a** on the quidditch pitch sometime!" She smiled, trying to bring this mood up from the dumps it was in formerly.

The feast was how it always is, delicious. Regan didn't normally talk too much to others during the feasts, the food was just too good. Looking up from her plate she saw some of her fellow house mates trying to get her attention to ask if it was her who did the spell at the lake, gaining her gasps of admiration from many new 1st years and even some older students looked impressed. Feeling very chuffed she accepted all the compliments, Like really, it was so simple but everyone seems to hold it as a piece of advanced magic, well I wouldn't want to embarrass them by pointing out how simple it was. Keeping those thoughts to herself, she left with her Slytherins as the feast cleared up to head down towards the dungeons. Upon entering the common room, everyone became bathed the greenish light that tinged their room. Feeling truly relaxed surrounded by the familiar decor of dark greens, black with slivers of silver, Regan made her way towards the furthest edge of the basement room where large clear windows showed the secrets in the depths of the lake. Regan loved this corner. There was bookshelves that she made sure was clocked full of her favorite book, charmed so no one will remove them, one of the older slightly saggy black cushy armchair was pulled over. With dim green lanterns secured in the stone walls, it was the perfect spot for her when she wanted to read for pleasure, or to gaze out at the lake by herself. She seated herself down and just watched the fish swim lazily by.

Heidi, after eating just enough -but damn was it good-, waited for the feast to end to stand up. She looked over to the Slythertin table -maybe she could find Regan- as she was getting ready to go back to her common room, but didn't have any luck on finding her new friend. Moving her wand in slow and elegant movments, she brought some order to the table, carefully piling up the plates.

«Fine, she said to Shane with a wink. Let's put a safe-distance of 1 meter between us.» Finishing her (tenth) plate, she added: «In realty, I'm sure you like hugs. You seem so huggable! Anyway, I'm gonna go unpack my things, so see you later». She waved and left the hall, got lost twice and finally found her way to the gryffindor room (after hours and hours of aimlessly wandering trough the hallways).

"Ok, slytherin prefects you know your duties! Newbies follow the prefects to your common room! Enjoy your night get a good nights rest, because tomorrow you will be hitting books until drop!" Harry called out as walked out of the teacher table to the Slytherin table. He stood outside the great hall watching as the students forms their various groups and walk in different directions. He had a good feeling about this year. A feeling instantly ruined by his first official fight between students break up of the year.

Shane could not help but feel weird from her last comment...so huggable..... was he seriously huggable, please he hoped he was not, if so she would be hugging him and cuddling...ew what was that stuff...pure evil..other then hugs... he freaken loved hugs even if he acted like he did not he loved hugs so much. Shane walked back to the Gyrfinddor room and sighed looking at all the kids, he sat down in the common room and just sat back taking it all in slowly.

Stella was one of the first people to return to the Gryfinddor common room. She always enjoyed sitting in the corner right by the fireplace where there was a small stack of pillows and watching her house mates shuffle in. There were always the first years who looked around in amazement at the room, which many had heard about from siblings, parents, or other students. As the first years were starting to acquaint themselves with their common room, other students would file in and make themselves right at home. Many would continue conversations that had started at the feast, while others would find a cozy place and relax. As she was looking around the common room, she spotted Shane sitting not too far from her, seeming to be in thought. Although he was a year older and on the "quieter" side, she knew him from quidditch, and so got up and walked over to him. "Hey," she said, as she sat in a chair neighboring his.

A very eventful first day it was... That is, for most people. Ergo sat in his office, scrawling all over the place, the only thing to eat and drying were a goblet of water and a plate of sandwiches, both replenishing themselves when they were depleted.

Ergo was preparing for class tomorrow. No, he wasn't a student, although he could probably pass for a 7th year if he shaved, but the newest DATDA teacher, and a procrastinating one at that.

"I could have spent all summer preparing my lessons, and what did I decide to do?" He sighed and bit into his 7th sandwich, chewing angrily.
