And so loomed the towering structure that is The U.A academy, where today would be seen our characters attend their entrance exams. Among these potential students was a shy and small boy named Shiiyuu Mashima who was incredibly scared about how these tests would go, hiding his anxiety behind the black face mask he wore while he walked up to the huge building.

Strolling forward through the gates of the UA, a tall teen moved with a ducking sway around the crowds with practised ease, though with far less sticky fingers at least. Yun weaved through the ocean-like throngs of would-be heroes, her ears being assailed by a myriad of conversations around her, some were doubtful about expecting failure, those were boring, some were overconfidently expecting success, and those were more amusing. Be it from some sort of parental legacy or being a big fish from a small pond, the realisation of a 99.8% rejection rate for U.A was soon going to hit them like a shovel to the face, her only regret was she wouldn't get to see those ego's get crushed in realtime.

She even noticed a few from her occasional attendance at her former school, and the sweet shocked expression on each was just icing on the cake for this, she was going to succeed on her chosen path with or without U.A that was already decided, but if she could stand atop the broken dreams of those individuals?. This time when giving her those looks, when they look to her, they're going to have to look up to her, she wished she could see them being put in the ground, but as bad as she wanted to, she wasn't one to look down.

The closer she got to the U.A main building the more the voices around her were getting drowned out by the behemoth of glass that had pierced the skyline for so long, illuminated and visible all the way from that run-down orphanage, well before she recently hit the old throw-away age but still. At this range, the building was screaming at her, and she couldn't help but give a somewhat unnerving smile before a long deep breath. "Baraya, Baraya, Agabaraya..." the alien words passed her lips like a song as she took it all in.

From what she knew the show the U.A was putting on would have two parts, written and practical, despite being more for practical problems she had already planned to ensure the first was a lock-in, all she needed was to pick out a nerdy glass-wearing type or two for an insurance policy. With that out of the way she could get to the real fun with an undeniable presentation titled "Why you idiots are going to let me into this school if you know what's good for you"

Examination - I

Written Exams and Practical exams? It was a well guarded secret what UA did each year, namely because it was only initially known to the staff and municipal jurisdiction and by the time word would've spread, UA would've already changed the Exams. Aside from the mandatory material that was sent, which wasn't much to go off of, Preparation instructions were vague. This was particularly unusual for entrance exams in Japan from what Alice understood. Though her information was limited only to what she could research.

As an exchange student, she had spent most of her school career learning in america, under the american education system. Maybe going to Japan was both for the opportunity to attend the world's top hero school and to get away from that system, but digressions aside, she had little context for how going to school worked in Japan.

The written exam would probably be easy enough if it weren't for the fact that Japanese wasn't her native language. While she was mostly fluent, and had taken written exams before, she knew that the following tests would be almost completely in Japanese. One misunderstood word could lead to her missing an entire question, she figured. She had to use everything at her disposal to think about context and possible meanings...

But... The practical exam, that was what scared her even more than the written exam. What would a practical exam for a Hero School be like? What could it be like? A combat test?

She hadn't practiced for active combat, and swore never to use her quirk on another human directly unless absolutely necessary.

The most she had ever done to train for combat was practicing knife throwing and stone-skipping at her uncle's ranch in Illinois for a few summers. She had very little clue on how she would even be able to keep up in a combat environment.

There was no time for it though... No. This was it. It wasn't unfair. She was gifted with the power of control over kinetic energy. Even a ball bearing could become like a bullet if she could only touch it, or better yet throw it. The same was true for just about any small object. And for big objects... Well... She had never used her powers on anything larger than a frisbee, since there aren't a lot of places where you can just go around and throw stuff around willy nilly... But she assumed that it was possible she could... It had to be... If it wasn't, she'd make it possible.

UA was the real deal... It had always looked like the some sort of crazy Military installation had a child with an industrial park and they named it after all of the different skyscrapers in New York city (or maybe Tokyo, since it was in Japan). There were hundreds of other prospective students looking to take the exam... At a 99.7% rejection rate... At least 250 - 300 kids were going to go home, but Alice didn't actually take the time to count everyone else... But Alice didn't want to imagine a world where she learned Japanese and came all the way over from America in order to be told that she wasn't worth the effort. She couldn't live in that reality, so it was up to her to make sure that she didn't falter. That she passed.

Going home wasn't an option.

She held tightly onto her backpack, which she had brought along to carry her things. Poking its head out of the back of the slightly ajar backpack was a mid-sized Alpaca plush with a pastel rainbow pattern. She knew she'd probably have her bag taken for both security reasons and for the sanctity of the test, to discourage any form of cheating. Though she had the feeling that anyone who'd be clever enough to pull off cheating wouldn't be stupid enough to leave their supplies for such in their bag. She brought her alpaca everywhere with her. It was a safety-item, and helped with her anxieties. She'd have to be without it during the test, but she had already come to accept that.

The looming building that was the auditorium did nothing to calm Alice's nerves. She counted the floors, 2, 3, 4... It had to be at least a 4 story building from what she could perceive. She sighed. Looking forwards and ahead, she recognized the entryway where the examinees were filing in.

She made her way in behind the crowd.

Q was, to put it lightly, BUZZING with excitement. (If you listened closely, you might hear ACTUAL buzzing, which may be a tad concerning.) Being on UA grounds was probably one of the COOLEST things ever to them, even if they weren't even really a student yet. This was the birthplace of so many amazing heroes, and, if all went well, they'd be one of them as well! They skipped along the concrete road, looking like a little kid who just got their favorite candy from their mom. They weren't really too embarrassed by this though, mainly since they didn't really care about how other people saw them, but also because they were (semi) confident in their abilities and they were pumped to knock this exam out of the park.

Q sat down in the large, dark auditorium, though since they were a bit early, they took some passing glances at the other kids around them. Some looked super confident in themselves and wore a smug look that was being dared to be slapped right off of them, most of them, however, looked nervous about the test, which was reasonable! Q was very much nervous about the test too, but you really wouldn't be able to tell it from their appearance, (They still looked like a kid in a candy store and they were still buzzing like an overworked machine.) though the facade would crack every once in awhile.

Maybe it was all of the nervous faces, or maybe their own nerves, (it was their own nerves.) but they were incredibly anxious about the exams. The written exam? Fine! Dandy! Piece of Pie! They could probably do it in their sleep. (They try not the think about all the panic attacks they had over the written exam, reading and rereading textbooks that felt word vomit.) The practical exam, however... well, the practical exam wasn't so pretty for them. Their mom, bless her kindness, tried to help Q as much as she could, giving the, pointers and tips, and trying not to hold their hand through all of this, no matter how much she wanted to, however Q really couldn't be pointer-d all the way through what would most likely be a test of their combat capabilities. Really, they had to hope that the simulation would have some sort of machine that they could manipulate to gain some mileage over, or else they would be screwed. They didn't have a quirk that was super useful in hand-to-hand combat, so they would most likely entirely rely on their own skill, which, may not be the most adequate, especially if they were competing against other people who did have useful combat quirks.

They dwelled on those thoughts for a bit until they just decided that what happens would happen, even if they had to fo through the stinging pain of failiure. But, they decided they wouldn't fail! They had an exam to pass and colors to be flown, so there was no giving up now!

So, this was the place? Anyone would at least feel a little intimidated by being in front of this school. Not to mention the idea that the rest of Japan will be on the people taking this exam. Why wouldn't they be? This was after all the most well known Hero school in the country. Many would crumble at this point.

YAWN...

And then there was this kid...

A young man was taking his time making his way in, more interested in his music at the moment, making sure his own bandages are in place. At this point, there isn't much to do. Your brains and brawn were already as good as they can be at this point, and you can only hope that is enough. He looked at the sky. Is he good enough to be a Hero? Would he be worth trusting others' lives? Only one way to find out.

Wonder if there is a place with good burgers for later. Food is the answer for celebration or sorrow.

At least a nap before this helped him. No need for gloom, just go full speed ahead!

And so all five of these potential U.A. students make their way into the main U.A. auditorium. Once the entire body of the possible contestants the pro hero, Present Mic went up to the main stage and began explaining the entrance exam.
"Oh-Oh gosh..." Shiiyuu sighs, fairly visibly nervous by the complex and seemingly difficult entrance exam. It was now did Shiiyuu start to get so much more worried, questioning why he was even here and trying to calm himself down about what was soon going to happen. He knew he had to get into U.A... for him and his memory. This thought alone calmed him down a fair amount and allowed him to pay attention to the rest of the presentation

Reclining in her seat somewhat as the prop hero talked, Yun visibly winced somewhat between the man's words and despite sounding like a radio announcer changing the station was obviously off the table. It was that thought however that drew a sensation of deja vu, turning to the side as if listing to something else before her eyes widened "Hang on, I did change the station...this is the same voice that recycling guy used to blast all the time." huffing somewhat she propped her elbows up on the table listening on regardless.

Distilling it down to the gist of it, essentially this was just going to be them hunting down glorified toasters from the silhouettes, not as fun as a real person but she supposed she could at least get a bit creative to keep it interesting.

To put it frankly, Q was at an advantage here. Their quirk literally revolved around manipulating technology, so this exam quite literally played to their strength. However, Q realized 2 things; keeping themself safe would be a problem and also the other students would be a problem. If Q could find a safe place. to hide their physical body while they controlled one of the robots, everything would be fine and dandy, but that would be impossible to maintain because the other students could easily destroy their robot host by confusing them for one of the enemy robots, forcing them Q to need to find another robot. In the end, if they got really unlucky, they could be spending more time trying to get control of a bot than actually destroying bots. Maybe they could just put their body somewhere on the robot to dissuade other students from hurting the robot? But that could be dangerous, since they would be putting themselve right where the action would be happening... Q would have to workshop that plan a bit.

A combat test? They expected a combat test on the first day? She didn't even know if she had the chops to deal with another human much less a combat robot. She looked around in her backpack. Was there something she had brought that she could use for the entrance exam? Alice could turn any sufficiently hard small object into a weapon. Pens or pencils? No, they'd shatter on impact with anything other than a soft target. A canteen? No, she needed that for drinking water, it was too expensive to waste. Aha, there was a coin-purse! lucky her! It had plenty of quarters in it. They weren't as ideal as something made of steel like nuts/bolts, but they could work for now. If all else failed, she might be able to effect the robots directly by touching them, though she couldn't be certain. Her ability to manipulate kinetic fields, like a flower yet to bloom, or a sapling yet to grow. Alice had realized her quirk was completely untrained in actual combat situations. She psyched herself up, hoping that she could somehow pull through with the pouch of quarters, and whatever else she could pick up on the way.

The boy took a moment to admire the school, before sitting down and having a good laugh looking at the teacher being such a loud one. He was sure everyone, even the cockier ones are nervous, even if excitement was also palpable. But as it was, it'll all come down to what happens when the bell rings.

"Showtime" He said, his leg resting on his seat for a moment, his hand going to the bandages in his leg. He loosened his bandages a bit, getting ready for things to start.

So, they have to fight robots, right? He might as well already send the good news to his parents, but before that, he needed to check how tough they were. If he can kick them properly, he will have an easy time racking up points, but he needed to move as quickly as he could lest he falls behind everyone. Robot composition could make things tricky, at the very least, he wouldn't be able to kick them into each other as freely as he wanted, but that's the challenge of these events. Beyond what everyone else is doing, of course.

"So, you feel ready to rumble?" He asked the nearest student.
