You're assigned to protect this mortal. Are you sure you'll be fine? Saber gave a reassuring nod. "I'm sure I'll be fine! With that, I bid you a farawell!" She gave a smile and a small salute, before spreading her wings and disappearing. She found herself at the edge of the city, hidden in the forest. Perfect place to be hidden for her arrival and to change into a better form that won't freak out mortals. Her wings disappeared from her body, as well with the armor that she was so used to. Instead normal looking clothes took its place. Saber stepped out from the forest, brushing off leaves.

Not far off from where Saber was, Declan was leaving school. It was quite a walk and bus ride back to his uncles place in deep downtown.


Another gloomy and lonely day, not out of the ordinary for him. It was quite overcast since it was late fall.

Saber looked up to the sky, seeing the gray clouds cover the whole area. She guessed it was sometime in the afternoon as she was seeing some students walk. She had to look for the human she had to guard, she debated going to the school, but decided against it. School just let it out... I can walk around and keep a look out.

He walked down the main streets passing some shops and stores to get to the bus stop. The one he had to take was always empty since the kids who went to his school lived way closer than him.


It was busy around this time cars passing by on the streets over and over without break. Placing earbuds in his ears, Declan listened to music quietly looking around at the bustling people. He sighed, umber eyes glaring.

She walked around, at first following a group girls that she assumed were from the school. It only led her to a street lined with shops and stores, and the breaking away from the girls as they went into a store. Saber leaned against a wall near a store, giving small smiles and waves to people who passed her.

Declan eyes caught sight of a girl acting kind of strange down the street. He moved his hair out of his face and squinted, looking at her.


"What is she doing....?" Thinking to himself he kept his eyes on this seemingly cute girl for a while.

Saber's hand stopped mid wave. She can swear that someone is staring at her. She turned to her head to the size, her gaze landing on a young man. It's him! That's the guy! She sent him a big smile, bounding her way towards him.

Declans eyes widened when she started running towards him. He looked around in case anyone was near him she might be after, but it was only him at the bus stop.


Becoming a bit nervous about having someone confront him he readied himself.

Saber skidded to a stop in front of him, putting her hands on her knees to catch her breath. Finally, she stood up straight straightening out her clothes, taking a quick glance around. "Hi, I'm saber! I notice you were staring at me!" She continued to smile brightly at him.

"I-I uh..." He back away a bit into the bus stop pole behind him.


"Hello..." She seemed like a kind girl but there was also something different about her. Little did Declan notice, he was blushing a bit. Not often did girls talk to him.


"...I'm Declan..?" There was confusion and an awkwardness to his tone. He clutched his messenger bag at his side and took out his earphones fully.

"Nice to meet you Declan!" She chirped, grabbing his hand and giving it a small shake. She studied his face catching the pink that tinted his cheeks. "You're not sick or hurt, are you?" She put a hand up to his forehead and then backed up to check if there was any injuries. She took a glance behind him, making sure there was nothing behind him. She returned her gaze to him, sending him a worried smile.

"Oh no I'm f-fine..!" He flintched a bit when Saber touched his face. This girl was bouncy and bright, making it hard to keep up with her.


Her smile was catchy although, Declan frowned slightly looking down at her.


"Uh.." Speaking softly at first he spoke up.


"Soooo...what do you want?"

"Uhh.." She brought her hand up to her mouth. "Well... I'm new around here, I was wondering if you'll show me around." She wasn't lying about that as she was new around the area. Saber continued to smile up towards him, oblivious to the slight frown that took place on his face.

Just as she finished talking, he noticed the bus was approaching the stop. He didn't have time to ask her where she wanted to go or even question anything. This was the first interesting thing that happened to him in a while.


Without words he grabbed Sabers hand and led her on the bus with him. He flashed his bus pass to the driver and made up and excuse that she was lost and he was taking her home. Although the driver scolded him about it, Declan ignored it smiling sheepishly at the driver. In the end he accepted it and let them on.


He led Saber to the back of the bus and sat down.


"Sorry about that..." His face was completely enveloped in blush, looking away out the window.

Saber was caught off guard by the sudden hand grabbing hers. She shook her head registering the fact she was on the bus now. She looked towards the bus driver and gave him a apologetic smile, before glancing back at Declan. "It's fine." She leaned forward into her seat. "Your face is red again."

Declan scowled at the ground knowing well he was caught red faced.


"Ahem—" he decided to change the subject as fast as he could.


"You said you wanted to be shown around? Right...?"


He glanced at his flip phone, looking at the time. Declan knew a perfect place to go. His favourite café! Craving sweets already too...


"It's a bit of a ride, I-I apologize.."


Was this a date? Or was he just overthinking it? He didn't even know this girl. Declan pushed the thought away.

Saber nodded excitedly in agreement, she continued to lean forward in her seat to stare at the window. "Mmm.. You don't have to apologize! It's an adventure!" She hummed in excitement. Of all the times she's been down to earth, it sure has advance.

Declan nodded back to her.


"Alright.."


It was quiet for a few minutes until he decided to break the silence.


"Where you from anyways..?" His head was turned, looking out the window.

Saber glanced away, seeming nervous. "Umm.. I'm from a small town a few hours away." She was quiet for a couple minutes. "It was quite quiet and peaceful. Everybody knew each other." She returned her gaze back out the window once again.

"That must have been a nice life..I'm kind of jealous." Declan chuckled then thought about his life. It was terrible and still was. Family and friends was only a dream to him.


"I used to live on the outskirts of town in a big house, it's nice thats for sure. It was quite some time ago..." His voice trailed off leaving a cold silence around him.

Saber flinched at the words. "It wasn't that nice. The town was nice, not the life." She gave a small sigh, but continued to sport a small smile. "What was that like?" She asked breaking the silence.

When Saber asked about he tensed up.


"Uhhh..." He didn't like to think about his family and those years they were all together. It hurt him to think about it.


"Ehe, enough about me....I'm not that interesting..." Forcing a meer smile on his face and looking down at his hands, seeming restless.

Saber slapped her hands down on her thighs, making a audible gasp. She was surely drawing attention towards them. "No! Everybody is interesting! I find you very interesting!"

Declan covered his face in embarrassment. It didn't take long but a very small smile appeared on his face.


This girl was something else, she really did know how to make a scene too.


He laughed sheepishly, and looked over at Saber.

Saber sent him a smile. She was glad she could at least make him laugh and she could have sworn she saw a tiny smile grace his face. "Hey, where are we going anyway?" She asked, genuinely curious as she had no clue where they were going.
