I'm surprised no one has mentioned Silent Hill yet. That series is what I feel is the epitome of horror games, and one of the many reasons why that is is the game's soundtrack.

From the distorted nightmares from the first to the empty and hollow glums of the second to even the aggressive and unsettling guitars from the third, Silent Hill's soundtrack is incredible and masterfully composed. Each song fits in with the theme of the game they're in, and they will always comfort you with tracks like White Noiz, Alone In The Town and End of Small Sanctuary or terrify you to no end with things like My Heaven.

The game has a phenomenal soundtrack and you should definitely check it out

One of my absolute favourites are the soundtracks for the Professor Layton games ( +the movie). They are absolutely amazing and I still listen to them a lot.

The Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II soundtracks by Inon Zur are also pretty great.
