Fandom Young Justice: Chronicle

Malsuphur

The Magnificent Manbeard
My idea for this is to take the characters of Young Justice/Teen Titans and reshape them into a world that doesn't have powers yet, set in Gotham City, New Jersey. Heroes like Batman and Green Arrow patrol the city at night, but thus far all vigilantes are normal humans who use technology and skill to aid them. The event that changes this is when our characters discover a fallen meteorite that gives us powers, similar to the movie Chronicle. The only difference is that we get a wide variation of powers resembling what our characters would have in the normal DC world. For instance, my main character will be Conner Kent/ Superboy, and the space rock will give him strength, speed, endurance, and flight. I am scrapping his vision and breath powers, though. I will also play Dick Grayson/ Robin, and the meteorite will grant him advanced reflexes and agility.

You can be any character you like, a hero or a villain. Our characters are high school students at a huge spring break party being held at Wayne Manor, when the sky lights up as a meteorite falls and crashes into the woods on the edge of town. We all jump in our vehicles and rush out to the woods to see the fallen space rock, which is glowing a vibrant green and bathes us in radiation. The meteorite causes a huge media frenzy and our parents scold us for going too close to it, though there are no adverse effects at first. Dozens of kids at the party got close enough to the radiation to be effected, but no one shows any signs of change until about a week later. That's when our powers begin to develop. Some of us become heroes, some become villains, and the government struggles to keep the chaos under control.

Those characters who join Conner and Dick as heroes will be trained by Batman and Green Arrow in the Batcave, along with others. Their main foes at first will be U.S. Air Force General Wade Eiling and CIA Agents Amanda Waller Slade Wilson, who are all tasked with investigating the so-called "metahumans" that start popping up all over the city. I'm open to other ideas to make this RP fun and unique for everyone. I'd like if we could get 4-8 players, but let's see who shows interest :D.

Question though. If I were to create a character, could they have a connection to the Speed Force?

Well, the Speed Force wouldn't exist like it would in the comics, but you could create a character who is given the power of super speed by the meteorite. Maybe he is able to vibrate his atoms enough to phase into a sort of hyperspace/subspace plane of existence, allowing him to move faster without as much resistance. Speed Force could be the nickname he gives this plane or something.

Welcome everyone! I'd love for you all to join :D. As to your question, Kuroko, that would actually be a power very similar to super speed, but you could tweak it a little to make it your own.

Any chance I can do a atlantean?

Hmmmm... I was hoping to keep the world magic and power-free until the meteorite falls, but maybe your character could be a descendant of the Atlanteans. Maybe Atlantis was built by alien/human hybrids in the distant past and when they realized how susceptible their human sides were to corruption, they sealed away their powers and hid Atlantis below the ocean. Maybe your character has small traces of this hybrid DNA in his body and the meteor awakens that, giving him the same powers as an Atlantean. It's an idea :D.

Well I was more asking if the meteor can change his body and physiology to become atlantean, but that idea works too.

Well yeah, the Atlanteans could have been a fusion of land-dwelling humans and water-dwelling aliens or something. Maybe the hybrids were made to tread both land and sea and the meteor awakens the alien traces of DNA, giving him abilities like breathing underwater and waterbending if you want, lol. Or you can scrap the alien idea and just have the meteor make his body amphibious or whatever. It's up to you :D.

OCs are fine, but having a Homo Magi does go against the no powers/magic prior to the meteorite theme. Unless the meteorite gives him the ability to do magic. Maybe there were wizards in ancient times but their bloodlines were thinned out too much and they lost the ability to use magic centuries ago. Your character could have the dormant magical potential from one of these forgotten lineages and the radiation from the meteorite awakens those remnants.

Welcome all! Multiple characters are fine. I'd say between one and three each would be good :D. It's always good to have extra characters so that we can occasionally kill off a few here and there to keep the story interesting.
