Realistic or Modern You were my Sign of Life

Wayne frowned deeply as he listened to her giving a small nod "Okay....honey you gotta calm down alright? Go to work and I'll come by tonight. We'll try to get ahold of him but if he doesn't answer then we'll go to the cops." He explained before giving a heavy sigh.

Max frowned more and laughed dryly "Okay Jeff, thanks for the fucking comfort. I'll leave you alone so you get on with doing whats more important." She spat before getting up and leaving to go up to their room.

She just nodded and thanked him, hanging up so he could carry on with work and she called in at the neighbours, explaining the situation, seeing if they could lend her their car or give her a ride, thanking them repeatedly when they handed her the keys. They were the only people in the park that had ever been nice to Eddie and right now she was the most grateful for it, driving to work as fast as she could, already an hour late by this point and got in to find two of the clients already there looking frustrated that their horses weren’t ready. “Lou I’m so sorry, I’m so… it’s been… he’s not…” she was breaking down in sobs all over again, grateful to the clients for how lovely they were as they got her sat down and went to get her some water.

Jeff grit his teeth and rolled his eyes, storming off and getting onto the yard, seeing absolutely nothing had been done, still fuming and just turned to take it out on the next thing that tipped him over the edge, heading carmen had been an hour late to work. “That’s it. I said I was done last time and I meant it. You’re fired. Get your shit. Get out. I’m done with your excuses! Pull yourself together and get the fuck out.” He snapped at her, not having heard max come out behind him

Max came out after him bringing out water bottles for everyone as if was supposed to be a hotter day. She frowned deeply hearing sobs coming from the stables and made her way inside going a bit wide eyed as she heard Carmen trying to explain to Jeff that Eddie was missing. She stepped infront of Jeff and handed Carmen some water kneeling infront of her "Here take this and get yourself calm okay? I'll talk with him." She said quietly before turning to Jeff "Can I speak with you please?" She said before taking him out of the stables.

Francis frowned deeply at Jeff's handling of the situation. No matter how Carmen had been previously it was very unprofessional "It'll be alright sweetheart, we're sorry to have gotten onto you when you got here." She coaxed the young woman.

She shook her head and wiped her eyes, taking a deep breath. “Let me get your tack ready then their beds will be done by the time you get back.” She promised, still a little shaky.

Jeff grit his teeth but followed her. “Don’t you dare start with me. I’m willing to put 20 bucks down to say he’s off getting high or drunk or both somewhere and too embarrassed to come home or she’s too embarrassed to admit it, they are messy and I want her gone.” He muttwred

Max frowned deeply and glared at him as she listened to him. "And you thinking acting that way infront of our clients is okay?!" She said furiously to him "They could leave and go somewhere else because of that outburst." She said seriously to him

Franscis gave her a small nod before she went to start her ride with her horse.

“Don’t start pretending you know how this works when you’ve done shit all for this place the whole time we’ve been here.” He muttered watching her stop and leave him, shaking his head

Carmen was cleaning up in the boxes when she heard maxs voice, looking over and frowned. “I know I was late. I’m sorry. My husbands safety funny enough takes priority over a job.” She muttered already on the defensive.

Max glared at him shaking her head some "I'll make sure to remember this if I ever go missing." She muttered before leaving him and going to find Carmen. "Carmen?" She asked sighing heavily when she heard her on the defense already "I understand why you were late, I would have done the same. I would like for you to stay, I'm going to talk with Jeff okay?"

She frowned and shook her head. “No need. I’m working today and I will work here until you find a replacement cause lord knows I’m not keavjng them in your care but once you find someone else I will take my last pay check and go. You city people come out here to have a better life style then turn the lifestyle here into the one you have in the city. So I’m done. I am exhausted because of you two. My husband has left to go chase a dream that isn’t what he thinks it is and I’m stuck here pregnant with his kid that I can’t afford.” She muttered not having told anyone yet but she was upset and freaking out and she didn’t know what she was going to do especially now she hadn’t had a chance to tell Eddie.

Max frowned deeply as she continued to listen to her go off following her around the stable. She froze though when she said she was pregnant "You're pregnant?" She asked gently feelimg a small pang in her heart but said nothing. Her problems were not Carmen's, nor would she be upset towards her for it.

She frowned and nodded. “Unfortunately.” She muttered. “Apparently we weren’t careful enough.” She mumbled, rubbing at her face. “So there’s no way I can keep doing this job anyway once I get to a certain point.” She muttered.

Max gave a small nod and sighed heavily "Do you plan to keep the baby?" She asked as she watched her a bit the wheels in her heard starting to spin as she thought more on this.

She shrugged. “Probably not. I can’t afford this. But I’m worried about whether I’ll find someone that will get rid of this for me round here.” She muttered. “I plus, I’m not ready for a kid even if I do have to carry it all the way. They’ll end up in the system.” She mumbled.

Max frowned some but gave her a small nod "What if....what if we adopted the baby?" She asked taking a deep breath

Max gave a small nod and placed her hands up in defense "You're right and I won't bring it up again unless you do. I just...I want you to know the offer is there." She explained before leaving to go back to the house.

She muttered to herself as max was leaving then just carried on with her day, going to see Wayne in the evening.

Jeff had argued with her again, hearing from max what she had told Carmen and now he was even more pissed so he had gone over to see Maggie to get away from the house. He knew it was wrong but he was wound so tight about everything on the farm that he just needed an escape

Wayne opened his door when he heard the knock giving a heavy sigh "You heard anything from him?" He asked her softly as he closed the door and locked it.

Maggie raised an eyebrow seeing Jeff through her peep hole. She opened up and gave him a questioning look "What are you doing here? Not that I'm not glad to see you but I thought we decided against talking?"

She shook her head and just hugged him tightly. “I have searched our place top to bottom and there’s no note no nothing… I know where he’s gone… at least what state but I spoke to Hopper, he said there’s nothing they can do because it’s clearly not a missing persons thing he’s just left.” She told him quietly.

He shook his head and walked inside, “I needed to see you. Have a drink and just talk.” He told her, the stress coming out in his voice.

Wayne listened to her and gave a heavy sigh shaking his head some "Remind me to give him a good piece of my mind when he gets back." He muttered before looking at Carmen and pulling her into a tight hug "He is gonna come back sweetheart." He whispered

Maggie gave a small nod and opened the door for him "Come in, let me get you something to drink." She said before going to the kitchen. She poured them both a small glass of whiskey before taking it back to her lounge.

She just shook her head and held onto him tightly. “He’s just trying to prove he can do it. I know he can but this isn’t the right way. That guy was taking advantage Wayne. He knew how desperate Eddie is.” She told him quietly. “Wayne I’m pregnant. He doesn’t even know.”

He was sat on her couch and trying to get his head around everything, ranting for a solid fifteen minutes before starting to feel like there was something more going on besides the drink, frowning when she just asked if he felt okay, not realising how pale he’d gone

Wayne went a bit wide eyed when she mentioned the pregnancy and gave a heavy sigh "Well....shit...sweetheart I'm so sorry." He said softly before making het look at him "Do you want to keep it? If you don't its okay, I'll take you to a clinic." He said quietly but seriously to her.

Maggie sat there listening to him but frowned as he started to get pale. "Jeff? Honey are you okay?" She asked before taking the drink from his hand as his breathing sped up "Jeff baby talk to me."

She frowned and shook her head. “I don’t know… I got an appointment at planned parenthood for a couple days to talk to them about options. But my boss wants kids and they’re struggling… I just don’t know right now though.” She stayed there most of the evening until she needed to get home and just thanked Wayne over and over

Jeff frowned and gripped at her arms a little. “I feel weird.” He mumbled “I think… somethings wrong.” He muttered before passing out and falling off the couch

Wayne gave her a small nod and sighed softly "Well you just let me know okay?" He said softly before he went to get dinner made. He hesitantly let her leave not wanting her alone right now but he soon found himself in bed once she was gone worried sick about his nephew.

Max got a call later that evening from the hospital. She rushed up there quickly only to find another woman sitting in his room. She frowned and gave a confused look "Maggie?" She asked quietly "Why...what...why are you here?" She asked in a confused tone

Maggie looked over at her and frowned, quickly standing up. “Maxine…. I uh… I was the one who called the ambulance.” She told her quietly “He’s doing okay, they said it was a minor one, he’s just resting.” She mumbled.

Max frowned more giving a nod "Okay? Was he at the feed store in town? I'm having trouble understanding how you found him." She said in complete denial of what was blatantly obvious.
