Kouki Kaneko
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 73 kg
Personality:
Bold? Outgoing? Aggressive? Whatever word you could use to describe Kouki, the absolute last one would be "shy". Loud in both words and actions, it isn't difficult to notice when the aging man is in the room, bringing in an aura of positivity almost unmatched. Not to say it can't be annoying at times, and sometimes his timing may be a bit off, but he's quick to burst out into a smile, or make a funny gesture, in order to help alleviate a heavy atmosphere. Physical in nature, he has a habit of putting his hands on others, wrapping his arm around their shoulders or lifting them up into the air in glee.
On the job, Kouki isn't much different. He still wears a corny smile, and does his best to use whatever charm he may have left from bygone years to stem the fear or irritation in a crowd. However, he carries himself with a tad more dignity, cracking less jokes and directing as much of his focus to supporting his team. Yet, with all things positive, nobody is perfect. Kouki's impish nature tends to get him into more trouble than is worth it. His habit of underestimating a villain has been his downfall more than once, and it's a lesson he has still struggled to come to grasp. His habit of toying with villains typically creates more dangerous situations for those around him, and once or twice has needed serious saving from others.

Backstory:
Growing up in the mountains of Japan doesn't usually help one get into the world of crime-fighting superheroes, but their influence even reaches the most humble of houses atop their peaks. Born in the mountain city of Takayama, Kouki wasn't originally enamored with the thrilling lifestyle that was being a Hero. Instead, he spent most of his time getting into trouble and causing chaos for the citizens, from pulling pranks to straight vandalism. His parents split at a young age, with his father taking full custody of the boy. His father's busy life trying to provide for the two of them caused Kouki to have even less authority figures tied closely to his life, and so, he was labeled the town's generic 'punk'.
While he originally just wanted to go to the regular high school in Takayama, he was pressured by a couple of his friends to apply to the hero academy with them, which was notorious for being difficult to get into, due to the picky nature of the local heroes that ran it. Despite his best attempts to 'sadly fail', Kouki still managed to receive the final spot on the roster of accepted applicants, much to his dismay. Word quickly spread of his 'success', and his father was incredibly proud of his son's change of heart. Kouki was unable to handle telling his father he didn't want to go, and so he resolved to just try and flunk out of the school after his first year.
However, within the first year of high school, he was hooked. Amazed at what he was able to do with his own Quirk, as well as meeting numerous students who wished to follow their dreams of becoming Heroes helped influence Kouki to work harder, and he rose from the bottom of the bracket, eventually coming to place within the top half of his year. During his time at the academy, he met Mami, an underclassmen who he became enraptured with. The two eventually became a couple, and once they both graduated from the academy, they were married. They became locally famous as a married superhero team, with little need for an agency due to the small population of the city. Still, many superheroes that came after them considered themselves their underlings, simply due to the likable nature they exuded.
Over the years, they had two daughters, named Suzume and Machi. After Machi, the two heroes began to slow down in their duties, working to prepare other heroes for taking over what they could do so they could spend more time raising their children. At this point, Kouki was considering hanging up his cape for good. A deep root settled in him, worrying about something happening to himself or his wife that left their daughters without them. When Mami became pregnant with their third child, Kouki was on his way to speak to the town council about his retirement where he was attacked by a small number of heroes from the new generation of graduates. They were jealous of the local fame he had accumulated, and planned to fake a villain attack and frame his death on someone else, so they could reap the rewards. Managing to evade most of them until backup arrived, he spent much of the next two days in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, chasing down the new 'heroes'. As they closed in on the last few heroes, one revealed they had captured Mami, and in a spur of the moment act, critically wounded her. As other heroes finished apprehending the attackers, Kouki rushed Mami to a hospital, but the damage was done. Within a few hours, she had passed on, along with Kouki's unborn son.
Kouki entered a semi-retirement, working for the city to help train and evaluate new heroes while not partaking in their daily duties unless called upon, but that was rare. He continued to raise Suzume and Machi with the help of his father and Mami's sister. He struggled to make ends meet for a multitude of years, believing he would have to return to patrolling and living the same life he had before. However, fortune must have favored him, because he was approached by the hero Marma-Lad, an up-and-coming hero from Kobe who was opening his own Agency. Marma-Lad offered him a position to work for him, with a high enough pay to help in taking care of his daughters. With approval from his children, Kouki moved to Kobe, where he spent the next two years working his way to being one of Marma-Lad's top heroes in his agency.
Some time later, Kouki was approached by Marma-Lad with an assignment. With news of the Eagle Agency's recent developments in their home turf, and Marma-Lad's sister being one of their agents currently on an international mission, Marma-Lad had offered to send Kouki to aid them for the foreseeable future, at least until things were better under control. Kouki accepted the assignment.
Quirk:
Mystic Carpet
Kouki's Quirk is a black and gold colored 'magical' piece of fabric, measuring 8x6 feet, that he is able to control freely as long as it is within a set range of ten meters in any direction. A Transformation/Hybrid-Type Quirk, when not in use, Kouki has the carpet wrapped tightly around his torso underneath his clothes, where his skin has become very callused from repeated friction. This tends to make him look a bit normally than he truly is. Due to his full control of the carpet, it allows him a small arsenal of abilities, though the most prominent use is for flight, with the carpet being able to handle a combined weight limit of approximately 750 pounds.
Strengths:
- Full control of his Quirk means that he can manipulate the carpet without having to keep it in his vision. It is close to a physical extension of his being, with a thin membrane of nerves covering it.
- The maneuverability of his Quirk makes him a prime choice for rescue scenarios, able to carry 2-4 passengers, depending on their weight.
- In situations where he has to resort to combat, the carpet acts almost as an extra set of limbs capable of disorientating or landing faint strikes on opponents.
Weaknesses:
- The greatest weakness of his Quirk is the elements around him. Though it is tougher than regular fabric, it is still highly susceptible to fire and heat, and water causes it to become sluggish.
- The nerves in the carpet itself mean Kouki feels a portion of whatever damage is dealt to the carpet.
- The carpet cannot leave it's maximum range. If Kouki tries to walk out of the maximum distance from the carpet, it will start to move back in the direction he is going in, making it's application for longer range horrendous.
