Her employer and her father, who have had close relations to each other before her father's passing, were both officers. This raised both Reija and Mirai in a very strict but rewarding household. As children, their father had difficulty in staying at home due to the highly active engagement of his job. To combat this, when he was around, he often bonded with his children by training them in basic self-defense maneuvers to defend themselves if he wasn't around to protect his family.
As her family passed away, Reija was left under the care of Takahiro Masayi and his private investigation services. From there, he asserted her need to live up to her father who was an active officer, despite being more of a detective than an active on-duty policeman. Nonetheless, she respects the need to be able to defend herself and perhaps others if the time needs.
Reija's strength level may be high, though as a student she is not legally able to carry weapons with her. She walks unarmed and cannot initiate attacks on those armed without a disadvantage.
Personality:
With her background as a detective and being raised under a rough, law-bound household. Reija has a calm demeanor and tends to be completely unfazed by most events that occur, even at grotesque sights such as a corpse. Reija is able to see things objectively and not jump to conclusions immediately, making her a valuable ally. She's polite, referring to people usually by their last name, and is weary of her actions as to be quick to apologize. She tends to branch off topic and lose track of things, including conversations, as to ramble about something she learned or managed to deduce.
Reija does her best to be as social as she can, though she often has a hard time connecting and socializing with other students, typically over analyzing scenarios that do not need to be over analyzed. It's because of this she has great difficulty with trusting other people, or getting people to particularly trust her, as she's quick to turn on others if evidence shows that someone is capable of doing something not in her favor. A highly logical person, her sense of just is a little more skewed than others in her line of work. Unless it directly involves harm to herself or serves to be particularly interesting, she won't involve herself in cases that could use her skills. Reija does what she feels like is worth putting her time into, making her seemingly selfish to a degree despite her modest nature.
Some find it very odd that she's in the Occult Club, or has anything to do with the occult with her analytical and logical nature. Though the occult does fascinate her. It may not affirm her beliefs of ghosts and spirits, but the psychological aspect of horror and demons have always piqued her interest, leading her not to join the Photography Club as her guardian had suggested, but the Occult Club instead. Reija is very information orientated, and it's easy to get her excited when talking about anything that has to do with factual context rather than opinionated controversy.
Background:
To keep it simple since I've been at this character sheet for way too long- Reija had been born to a riot officer named Shu Keijo. Keijo worked for the Saikou Corporation on some instances, though his position had been moved to the local police. Assertive in his points and beliefs, he was often caught disobeying rules and using unnecessary force for trivial scenarios that despite seeming just from one perspective, can seem highly unjust from another. He lost his job as an officer, unable to keep his opinions to himself in the name of the law, and he became a passionate journalist instead, writing his beliefs on paper and publishing them in the local newspaper. This stirred up wild controversy and disagreements.
Yuriko Hikobei was a forensic artist who enjoyed her job greatly. Though the very luck-based and unreliable nature that underly many forensic scientists and the responsibility placed on them was a burdening task. In charge of the Chikage Murder case, Yuriko was the head of the forensic team in looking for the murderer. Unknowingly falsely accusing a young man for the murders, the true murderer had escaped unscathed while the young woman suffered a life sentence. Yuriko had detected the error in her studies years after the woman was falsely accused, but she had feared exposing the information to the public as it could risk her entire career that she needed to support her family.
Together with her 6 year old brother, the family was often busy but tight-knit. The neighborhood had strong animosity towards the family, evidence stacking against Yuriko and her false accusation of an innocent woman as a murderer ran free, and the opinionated passions of Shu that toxicated their media. The busy schedules of both of her parents, Reija took care of much of the housework and caring for her brother, taking great fascination as a child with both of their work. Reija often assisted her dad in any way a child her age could, researching cases and information to support his unknowingly hostile opinions and demanding her mother teach her about her work.
Their house had been set on fire by the husband of the woman who suffered the punishment a murderer failed to receive. News leaked about Yuriko's mistake. In defending both of their children, Shu Keijo died of smoke inhalation while Yuriko was trapped in her room, burning to death. Mirai had escaped, though he wasn't with Reija when firemen had arrived to rescue the family, leaving his current whereabouts unknown. Reija was adopted by an ex-coworker when she was 13, Takahiro Masayi, and his private investigation services. Esteemed and well-known for their investigators, Takahiro was strict yet cared enough about Reija to allow her to stay under the condition that she worked for him part-time to afford living expenses, nothing too on-duty and physical aside from occasionally accompanying investigators as a third party medium or to help gather information.
Reija enterred Akademi High School under the esteemed services of Masayi under a different last name. She came out of both her academic interests as well as the background of the school, though she isn't doing much to investigate. It simply fascinates her.

Equipment and Belongings
Uniform- Follows the Akademi uniform, though she wears slacks instead of shorts. Also adorns a hat most of the time, though if told so by a teacher she will take it off.

Items:
- Red Notebook and a Pen - She always makes sure she has something to write in. She sees life almost like a video game, and tends to write down key observations of her environment or about people, regardless if she will ever need it. Perhaps it's her paranoia that makes her feel like she needs control in all situations, which, well, she doesn't have.
- Pocket Change - Big strawberry milk fan. Also likes picking up heads-up pennies.
- Sharpies - If her notebook isn't present, she will write on her hand. Her arms are usually covered in fading marks.
- Tape Measure - She really likes how long it could go. It was always some weird toy she had as a kid. This isn't even from her childhood she probably bought it 2 weeks ago at a thrift store or something. She just likes making it super long and snapping it back it's satisfying okay.
- 10ft of String - Not rope. String. Really thin string. She tends to move her hands and fidget. It keeps her staying focused sometimes. Did you know she can fingerknit? That's a talent right there.
- Phone - You young whippersnappers and your phones. Also packed with some sick RPG games hit her up.
Abilities

Skills & Abilities
Analytical - Reija's good with breaking down broader points into more specific concepts if she has the evidence to back something up. Though she isn't always on-duty, she is a student. She does have fun trying to guess conversations from far away though based on body movement.
Reflexive - While she's calm, she is jumpy and quick to react to anything around her, making her the prime horror game jumpscare fan. Her fear of fire also assisted in it, as it was an object thrown at her house making a loud noise that had caused the fire as a child.
Martial Arts - She's no expert martial artist, that's for sure. Someone from the club could probably knee her and she's out. But she has pretty good experience as the daughter and current fake-daughter of officer and working as a makeshift officer.
Perception - It's part of her career as primarily an observationist to take note of anything strange (or shiny) in her environment.
---
Overconfidence - Reija may be humble, though she often overestimates herself and her capabilities, believing that because of her title she has the entitlement to ignore other people or attend to her own manners. She takes after her stubborn father, and if something doesn't effect her personally or seem interesting, she couldn't care less. She often believes her skills are much more on the level of an adult in capability, and while she does act mature for her age, it doesn't come to her often realization she is still in highschool.
Focus - Reija has poor focus and an inability to stay on task with things, often getting distracted or losing substantial evidence in trying to affirm another point entirely in correlation to the task at hand, instead of the actual task.
Disorganized - Reija keeps much of her collected notes and evidence scrambled, either memorized, a notebook, on her arm, etc. She's good with mentally asserting something and perhaps even persuading people into believing it, though she isn't a manipulative person. Much of what she has is disorganized, and it takes her quite a bit to collect anything that she hasn't just thought of herself, which holds little substance to people.
