WW Resistance (1v1v1)

Hope raised an eyebrow, his jovial visage melting away instantly. Why would Alec, the famous spook, bother coming to seek his aid? They were sworn enemies, in their sided alignments in the current global conflict, and in their shared hobby of seeking magical treasures.

"
... This must be a serious matter, for a member of the Resistance to come to seek help from an Astrumregis. What do you need from me, Alec? I'll at least hear what you have to say." Hope explained, rubbing his chin as he motioned for Alec to come join him inside. He snapped his fingers, a pair of chairs and a small table floating over from beside his large desk, placing themselves close to the balcony doors. Hope took a seat in the far one, crossing his arms across his chest.

Stepping through the threshold, she let the doors settle behind her, not latched, for her sake, but closed all the same. Joining him in the other seat, she folded her hands carefully. This could go badly at any second, and then what? Alec swallowed, trying to find the right words.

"You are, I assume, aware of what transgressed in Munich in regards to a rather dangerous element. As it stands, I have until the fail safe attached is triggered before it causes some...unpleasant side effects. What I carefully request is your aide in preventing it from detonating."

Hope sighed. This was a tricky situation. He didn't want the Resistance turning that bomb into a weapon. But he wasn't about to help Alec. He'd be considered a traitor to Nightrise...

Unless....

Licking his lips, Hope leaned back in his seat. "
I wouldn't want to help you, I'd be considered a traitor to my superiors, instead of just a traitor to my own kind. But perhaps I'm just that. Alec, may I tell you something I have told nobody yet?"

As her world started to crumble, Alec figured she had nothing to lose by letting him continue. But then, she knew she was still hopig that the odd thing was something that could possibly help her.

"Of course."

"I grow weary of Nightrise. They condemn my kind. It's something I grew up realizing, my father made the wrong choice. But instead of fighting so openly, I've been planning for a time when I could... Overthrow these oppressors. A time when I could stop this madness, and bring mages to the forefront, where they belong. I don't share a common goal with your Resistance, but we do share a common enemy. I will save you. And, your fellow Meido users. You coming here confirmed that connection you share, the Blind Realm. You wouldn't be so worried about your own skin, it's that of your daughter you're trying to save. But in return, Alec, you will help me topple Nightrise, and you will help me bring about the creation of Cosmo Entelecheia, the "Perfect World" for mages." Hope explained his plan, without explaining what Alec's role in it would be.

Alec stayed still for a time, processing his words and what they meant. She had always had the inkling he wasn't as bad as Yumi pitched him to be, but never to quite this extent had she thought. While it was true, the goals didn't align, it was still a step towards the better to a point, his just ran a step forward. And she was truly only resistance in name, not acts.

And then....Cal.... He was more than correct there, and wasn't that the worst. He could kill her outright when he was done, her role merely a lamb for the slaughter and she couldn't say no, not when it came to her baby.

"I shall, and will gladly help you reach your goal."

Hope nodded, smiling rather sweetly.

"
I knew you would see the truth in my words. I look forward to working with you, Alec. Here." He closed their deal, holding out his hand. Focusing his power, a strained look on his face as space and time seemed to warp around his outstretched hand, he created a small ball, gold in colour. "Attach this to the bomb. It will freeze it in time, holding it in stasis until someone triggers the stasis to stop. You and I will be the only two able to do so, and it will need to be in unison. I won't leave you worried about betrayal. Once it's put in stasis, you can dump it, or leave it in the Blind safely, my magic won't erode." He explained, also snapping his other hand, a small silver communicator appearing on the table.

"
Do keep in touch, partner."

"I look forward as well, Hope Astrumregis. I appreciate what you have done, and can only hope I can repay you for what you have given me. "

Cal's eyes stayed on the door to her right, having been there silently in passing for a moment, only to stop when she had heard voices. And only to stay stopped when she had heard Alec. But this....she wasn't sure what had settled into her gut. She wasn't sure how close Axel and the dead weight were to their goal, given the sneak in had been easy, but she was no longer interested in fulfilling the part she had taken. No longer caring about what secrets Hope had to hide, or what items she could collect from him. Oh no, fuck the side mission from Yumi, this was....

As she heard the sound of a chair moving back, she swore silently. Opening the door to her left, she ducked inside, closing it silently and waiting in the dark room. This was so fucked.

-----------------

With an idle curiosity, Rose tilted her head, pulling her hand up as close to her face as she could. Examining the cuff that allowed her minimal movement, she had found it almost kind of funny. He hadn't been cruel to her, that silver haired fellow. But he hadn't been dull either. Removed from her earth, removed from plants, he had quiet effectively removed her ability to do anything. Even if the room badly needed some touches of colour.

Aaaaand, there was no dirt on the cuff either. Shame, she really was getting tired of the metal on metal look her holding room was rocking.

Hope stood up, coughing. His magical pressure suddenly overwhelming, even mages with poor or no sensory magic like the Meido users would feel it, his aura radiated anger and frustration, a choking and all-consuming pressure.

"Alec, before you go. There's one small matter for you to attend to, if you wouldn't mind. As you know, nothing gets into my manor without my knowledge, however, if I'm distracted, one can postpone my reaction time. You wouldn't happen to know about any missions, currently, being performed by a certain young Meido user, one you're intimately familiar with?" He asked, the tone of his voice dangerous and full of venom, a complete contrast to his tone when dealing with Alec.

~~~
Following Vent closely, Axel sighed. This guy was awfully talkative for a thief.
"
... So, that Deathlind chick, you two screwing? She seemed kinda pissed when I knocked you out." He brought up in a whisper, as the two carried on into the basement, a chrome and metallic maze of rooms and various cases containing experiments. Axel, caught off-guard by Vent's question, sucked in air and coughed, to which Vent chuckled. "Gonna guess that's a no." He observed, while Axel collected himself.
Suddenly, when the Manor was covered in an overwhelming pressure, the two boys stood upright, looking each other in the eye. Cal must have been found, this aura was definitely Hope's, the two boys had both experienced this before.
Vent glanced about, and swore under his breath.
"Not to insult you bud... But I'm stronger than you. I'll go help her... In the meantime... Her name is Rosalyn. Rose. Red-head. She's about your age. Please find her..." He said, before disappearing in a flash of lightning.
Axel blinked.
"... It was a girl? Hope had a hostage?" He asked himself in the silence of the chrome maze he found himself in.
Alec's eyes went wide as her system actually registered another mage's magic. As he spoke, a steady look of motherly rage settled onto her face as her head turned towards the door. Why, of all things, with all of the things in Munich occurring, would she be here?
"No," Her tone was rough, disapproving and wholly unpleasant. "There are but two places the flesh of my blood should be, and neither are here. If she is reckless enough to tread ground here, I had no part of it. Though I request you not kill her, I think you,better than I, would serve to teach her a proper lesson when it comes to, if you'll forgive my wording, treading the homes of opposing sides. "
-----------
Cal swore properly that time, shaken by the feeling of what she knew was her discovery. But she was closer to Hope, and she would mask the other two, wouldn't she? Isn't that how it worked? And she could probably cat and mouse him long enough, right? Shit....
This wasn't good, first mom and now this and....fuck. Looking around the room she processed what was there and found nothing good. Just a meager wine room with the most retched holders someone had ever created. But the door was on the right side, and from the right side, you couldn't exactly see the left ends well. Moving fast, she positioned herself as best as possible, hugging the end of the wine rack, shrinking herself as best as she could.
Smiling wide, Hope nodded, lifting his hand, open, as if he were grasping something. Suddenly, he clenched it, balling it up into a tight fist.
The bottles of wine bursted open, their corks flying all over the room. More wine than should have been possible poured out, filling the room at an alarming rate.
~~~

Appearing in the study in a flash of lightning, Vent slid down his scarf and hood.

"
Deal's off, Hope. I'm gonna.... Alec?" He asked, stepping back, surprise in his eyes. "W-What the..." He asked, words failing to come.

"How....interesting." Alec said, a hint of surprise herself. All three of the treasure hunters in one room, all for different reasons. And what was this about a deal? It wasn't her place, but curiosity did indeed create the most opportunities.

With a faint smirk, she clicked it together, "You would be why she's here..., " With a glance at her new partner, "Would you like me to handle our guest?"

----------------

Loud noises popped off all over the room, startling Cal more than anything. Catching herself on the wall she swore again. Making a mess so she couldn't leave without making a trail? That was smart...but he knew she was in here too. It was then she registered the bottles didn't stop pouring, and that it was already up to her shins.

"What the fuck." She started sloshing through the booze, heading back for the door. Knees, thighs, waist, it wasn't stopping. Hitting the door, she twisted the knob and went to pull the door open. It barely moved and was soon pressed right back into place by sheer weight of the wine. She tried again and it didn't move at all as it hit chest level.

"Shit, shit shit...."

You could always drink it.

"Shut up." There had to be a way out, had to be. A ceiling vent, something. Kicking herself towards a shelf, she pulled herself up, pulling herself out of shoulder level liquid that kept rising. Scanning the ceiling from the top of rack, she swore. Could she make a different room? She crigned, thinking ot he results from practice she'd done trying to pull that at the sanctuary. She knew singular room spaces, and knew the outside. But she couldn't get in here again without the dead beats help again, which left them without help.

And he knew she was here. She grinned like an ass and kept herself as far up as she could go on the shelf.

Hope nodded.

"
Be my guest, Alec. Vent could learn from your example." He noted, chuckling as he knew the wine kept pouring.

Vent swallowed, shaking his head.

"
You... You're betraying your mother and your daughter! And the entire Resistance! I'll... I'll beat both of you!" He blustered, to which Hope chucked, motioning to Alec.

"
Out of the three of us here, Vent, you're the weakest, and you know it." He spat.

~~~
Coming up to the reinforced glass window of Rose's confined room, Axel knocked after seeing the red hair. He sighed.
"
.... Are you Rose?" He asked in an awkward manner.
As the wine hit the point where she could no longer stay above it, Cal pushed up once, took in a deep breathe, and let it cover her. Dropping back down to the bottom, rather than waste energy trying to stay up top, she did realize one thing. She didn't necessarily have to be what moved.
She laughed, or started to before wine flooded through her mouth. Shutting right back up, she had to remind herself not to be so stupid. With lungs burning, she felt down for the floor and ripped open a blind portal. She hoped her darlings liked booze as it started acting as one hell of a drain, sucking down wine slightly faster than the bottles poured it out. Kicking back off the shelf, she pulled herself to air level again, coughing up the rest of the wine.
---------------
Rose looked up as she heard a voice. Oh, it was a new person. She smiled sweetly, tucking a strand of fiery hair behind her ear. Waving with the hand that wasn't chained, she nodded.
"Yes, I'm Rose. And you are?"
--------------
Alec grinned darkly. Opening the balcony door, she held it open, looking at Vent. From behind him, a strange, almost pure black creature appeared. Half of it's head looked almost human, outside of the horn growing from it and the empty eye socket. It poked him hard, shoving him towards the door.
"Come, let's not ruin the room."
Axel blinked.
OhnoshewascutehehadbeenexpectingafemaleVentthiswasnotthat.
"
Uh, I'm Axel. Axel Forghen. I'm from the Resistance. I kinda broke in here with Vent, I think we're here to rescue you?" He piped up after a second of silence, trying to put words together. Axel dear, now is hardy the time to get flustered. Riri, please, do not do this right now. What? All I'm really saying is Cal is waiting for you, honey. Riri. NOT. NOW.
Rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, he avoided eye-contact. "So... Yeah. Wanna get out of here? As in... Like, rescued." He specified, suddenly cursing his complete and utter awkwardness.
Were these crazy situation so normal to him now that even when infiltrating the Manor of the most dangerous human alive he still found the time to put his foot in his mouth?
~~~

Vent swore under his breath, walking by Hope, proceeding to the balcony. Pointing to him as he walked by, he scowled.

"
You're next." He spat threateningly, before leaping out the window. Hope simply scoffed, walking to the door of his study, waiting in the hallway to Cal to open the door of the wine closet.

"Oh," Rose smiled more, "Axel is an interesting name. "

Aww, he was shy, how cute. Looking at her cuff again, the one that ran to the floor, she nodded, "I think I'd like getting out of here, yes. I don't fancy this room very much."

--------------------

As Cal got more breathing room, she waited. On the top of the shelf she seated herself, just eyeing the door for the wine to go down.

---------------------

Following Vent out, Alec let her toy stay loose. Hitting the ground behind him, she lowered down into a crouch. With a twist of her hand, three more creatures appeared behind him in an arching circle.

Axel bit his lower lip, his right eye changing form. The white of the eye turned pitch black, his pupil changing to a demonic yellow.

"
Watch out." He said simply, not wanting to say much more. He didn't want to trip over his tongue. A red aura enveloped his eye as where he was looking at the door began to melt. Cutting around the door with his flame-vision, he kicked it open, closing his right eye, walking into the room. "I'm gonna cut the cuff, so try to make it as tight as possible and watch for sparks. I'm still getting the hang of this fire-vision." He explained, walking forward with his right eye still closed.

You're really making good use of my eyes. Most of their magical signature has blended perfectly with your own, I never used fire in such a way before. Thanks, I have been practicing. Oh I know full well dear, I AM sort of inside your head. You make it really hard to forget most days.

~~~
Landing, Vent turned on his heels, lances of lightning appearing in his hands. One at a time, he hurled them at the two creatures on the outside, first right then left. Upon making the second throw, he darted forward, a gust of wind propelling him forward as he swung out at the one in the middle, gale force winds swirling around his fist.
~~~

Hope took a deep breath in, growing impatient.

"
Come out, Calandra. I do believe we have much to discuss. Like, why you're in my wine closet. I had quite a few bottles in there that were older than you." He called out, his tone of voice condescending. Like he was talking to a child.

Oh, did he really want to discuss things now? How cute. As the wine levels dropped further, she examined her nails idly, eyes on the door every other second. No, she was going to make him come to her, and then she was going to disappear through the damn door and run. Or, should she need to, dart through her portal and draw him outside and away from finding Axel.

-----------

Rose tilted her head to the side, doing as he requested and drawing the cuff tight.

"Fire vision?"

------------

Alec grinned darkly, her creatures twisting themselves before rippling, the one with the strange head opened it's mouth wide, swallowing the bolt whole. The other, a curious arm mixed in, caught it before launching it right back at Vent at Alec's direction. The third merely took the blows, aiming to keep him there long enough. Funny how a child never did learn.

Axel nodded. "It's a bit of a long story." He explained, being careful not to look at Rose as he opened his right eye, the cuff splitting in a spark of flame, the dangling piece red-hot from the heat that had split it. Shutting both his eyes immediately, Axel opened them again slowly, his right eye having returned to normal, as opposed to it's demonic form.

"
C'mon, things are heading south, and we're gonna have to split. I think Vent's covering for us." He explained, motioning for Rose to follow him, as he walked backwards, his hands pointing over his head to the door in a goofy-looking fashion.

~~~
Vent watched as the creatures dealt with his attacks in turn, stopping his assault, and leaping back.
If these things were durable, he'd just avoid them and go right for the one that summoned them. Grinning, he disappeared in a flash of electricity. blasting over the creatures in an arc, heading directly for Alec.
~~~

Hope shook his head, making a 'tsk-tsk' noise, as if he were chiding a youngster who's done something regrettable.

"
We'll play your way, then." He let out, an ornate wand appearing in his right hand. With a wave of it, numerous other wands began appearing around him, floating in the air. They settled into a formation jutting from his shoulder blades, creating the semblance of wings.

With another wave of the wand, several more appeared. These wands glowed red, and blasted the door down with a bolt of fire. They then charged into the room, shooting fire like flamethrowers.

"Vent is...?" Rose questioned slowly, before looking up. That man, as polite as he had been, wasn't something she wanted him to be fighting. Capable or not, even she knew better. Following the man who had introduced himself as Axel, she worried about her little brother.

--------------------

As the kid learned, Alec grinned darkly. She exploded up, a massive cloud of crows. The massive group of black feathers charged, screaming, pecking and scratching anything they touched.

-----------------------

Cal raised an eyebrow for a moment before the spells blasted out. She blinked and swore once as fire consumed all.

Axel nodded, before turning around and jogging out the door, through the metallic chrome of the hallways.

"
Yeah, so let's get a move on. Can you run, or at least jog? That Hope prick didn't hurt you at all, did he?" He asked as they made their way back out the way Axel had came, the hallway corners marked with burns, in the shape of arrows pointing in the direction of the exit. Axel had made sure to have his escape route planned out properly.

~~~
Vent landed in the middle of the crow-storm, feeling the beaks and talons bite into his flesh. Screaming in pain, he released a burst of wind around, knocking the crows back and giving him enough time to flash out as lightning, the same way he'd entered the attack.
Blood running from various lacerations and gouges from his body, Vent swore loudly, licking his lips, the metallic flavour somehow delicious to him as his body craved more. This was amazing, fighting against a Meido user, a demon scourge. This was the best kind of high he could ask for, being the biggest adrenaline-junky mage out there.
A twisted grin crossing his face, he cracked his knuckles, ignoring the screaming pain his body was in. For all he cared it could give out, he wouldn't back away from this fight. He began walking forward, towards the crow-storm. He needed to keep the pressure on, but so far he'd been unsuccessful in his attacks. He needed to think of a new angle.
~~~

With another flick of the master wand, Hope spun the flamethrower wands around the room, dousing the closet in an inferno.

"
Feel free to come out anytime, Cal." He said, while snapping his left hand's fingers. An illusion flickered in place beside him, a replica of Hope, but without the master wand or wand-wings. It walked forward, and stepped into the doorway of the closet, and into the flames. It bore no heartbeat or magical signature, Hope was counting on Cal's pure reaction to the illusion.

"No, he was rather pleasant outside of the room choice." Rose said softly, following behind him. She didn't bother with running however, or even jogging. Her brisk walk was enough for her and she did cover ground quite effectively. Besides, out, was not currently her destination, to Vent, however....

"Was that the only way back up you found?"

----------

As he came back into them, the crows shifted tattered remnants of a body hitting the ground. A body with tanned skin and red hair and eyes like emeralds. Alec rose from shadows holding what remained of the caved in head.

"Catch." She tossed it, throwing his sister's skull at him.

---------------------

As the replica entered, Cal didn't respond. Couldn't really, but she was determined to not move. Her current escape plan ensured she wouldn't be. It still hurt though, but at very least, it wasn't as bad as it should have been. Demon hide was good for something, after all, and layering it as it burned up was proving to be effective. But it kept her rooted in a state of constant transform and deform.

Between states, she flicked a bottle up from the shelf below her, chucking it at Hope. When it went through him and shattered on the floor, Cal growled. Cheap trick from a cheap man.

Getting to the first corner, Axel slowed his pace down to match Rose's.

"
Yeah, this place is like a maze. I don't wanna risk not getting out of here as fast as possible. This'll take us to the front foyer, and from there we can get out of here." He explained how he viewed their escape going, giving Rose a thumbs up and a quick smile. "Don't worry, we'll get you out of here." He added at the end, figuring she must want to leave this place, seeing how she was just locked up here.

~~~
Vent caught the skull, his mind not registering what exactly was happening.
"
... He... He said he wouldn't... He wouldn't hurt her if I did it." He let out, the words seeming as if they just wouldn't come, Vent being unable to string a sentence together in his mind. Letting the skull drop to the floor, he swallowed hard, staring at it, before lifting his gaze to meet Alec's.
"
.... This had better be a trick. For your sake, it had better be." He uttered, losing every semblance he had been displaying of enjoying the fight.
~~~

Hope grit his teeth. Cal was testing his patience.

"
Fine you childish little demon, I'll play your way. But you won't like it." He muttered, stepping into the doorway of the room himself. He glanced up, the flames stopping as he stopped Cal. Pointing his master wand at her, the numerous wands making up his wings shot at her like missles, each coated in a different magic. Lightning, Ice, Earth, Fire, all flying for Cal with a mind to impale her.

"Is that a royal we, or is there more than you and Vent here?" Rose questioned. Rounding the corner, she felt the smallest hint of earth. She looked up again, and started flying down the hall.

--------

"And if it's not?" Alec growled. With a twist of her hand, the parts started to boil away to just bone chips, and then to dust, scorching the ground as they went. "Oops, did I do that?"

She let out a bitter laugh. Pulling her hand forward, her three toys shot back into action, each aiming to tackle him from a different angle.

------------

As the flames ended, the last of Cal's make due shield melted off like smoke. Her skin was red, but thankfully to her not burned. As the wands moved in, Cal dropped off the shelf.

She wasn't quick enough. She felt one scorch past her ear, more nailing into her flesh. Hitting the ground, her body shook with pain. She could taste blood in her mouth, and she couldn't feel her left arm.

Just as Axel was about to reply to Rose's question, she darted off.

Huh, I wonder where she's going, a minute ago she didn't seem like she was in a rush. Maybe she's worried about her lover, that Vent boy. What makes you think they're... Shut up Riri.

Axel took off down the hall as well. They were nearing the exit to the main foyer. "Hey, wait for me!" He called out, hoping Rose wouldn't get herself into any trouble. Axel was suddenly reminded of Cal, and hoped she was doing okay.

~~~
Vent scowled, leaping back from the three creatures. He felt something sinister leaking off of these things, like they weren't just normal creatures. They were so much more than the ones the other Meido girl had summoned earlier. The weird parts of their bodies that didn't match, those must be the key. That's how they defended against his lightning just now, at least.
Fine. Time to make use of the old man's last gift. Holding up his left hand, a marking shone through his glove on the back of his hand.
"
Stormbringer" Vent declared, a gauntlet with a lightning-bolt design appearing on his hand, stretching up to his elbow. An ornate crystal formed on the back of the gauntlet, and from the crystal appeared two wings of electricity, crackling with power. They seemed shaped like a bow, and were connected by a thinner strand of electricity.
Drawing back on the 'bowstring', Vent took aim. Letting go, three bolts of lightning shot forward, aiming for different places on the three creatures. The one with the strange arm was aimed for in the left thigh, the one with the head was aimed for it's gut, and the one with no discernable part was aimed for it's head.
~~~

Hope made a tsk-tsking sound, his jovial look returning instead of an angry one.

"
Now what did I say, Cal? I knew you wouldn't like it." He said, with another wave of his master wand, the wands embedded in Cal sliding out slowly and returning to his wing formation.
