Timo's heart pounded as they looked at each other, and even more so when she scooted closer enough to brush. This was really happening, right? He did not fall asleep yet, did he? He was sure that he recalled all of the events before, so that ruled that out, but did she feel similar to him? Was she . . . in love with him as well? He pursed his lips and adjusted to mirror her, but that was not enough to prevent the heat from escaping his cheeks. This moment was tense, perhaps tenser than ever before, even when Esmere was running her mouth in front of both of them regarding infatuation. Did he dare ask or state to his friend a confession from which there was no return to what already was?

Her tail somehow thumping in sync with his heart, he brought new voice to his lips.

"Um, Kaitlyn, I was wondering something . . . and it might be a bit of a longshot. I . . ."

He cut himself off, nervous, the angry fluttering of little winged insects that flit from flower to flower just going around and around inside him and distracting him. He might need a bit of a push from Kaitlyn to get the words out.

Kaitlyn watched his every movement with her calm eyes. Her stomach was too, having butterflies. Timoteo hadn’t looked away from her, he just stared along with her. It made her stomach howl with butterflies and a little bit of anxiety.

In her opinion, she didn’t consider the feeling “butterflies”, more like wasps or bees. Stinging her with awfully deep anticipation that seemed to get more and more tense by the second.

His voice snapped her from focusing too much of the butterflies, her pupils widened to adjust her feelings at that moment. Her eyes looking like the deepest blue of any oceans ever seen. Though, Timoteo hadn’t finished what he was going to say. Worrisome and eagerness filled her heart and stomach at this.

Timo... you can ask...” she paused for a moment to gulp again. “...what is it?” Kaitlyn’s tone was softer than ever heard before, she sounded understanding and anxious.

Timo almost slipped into a moment of panic, realising that all of this that he was intending to say was without practice or form. Sure, he had contemplated some words and ways of telling her this should the situation arise, but he did not anticipate the situation happening right here, right now. Nevertheless, her urgings gave him hope that whatever he said it will be taken with careful consideration, good or elsewise.

"This past week that I have met you has been . . . wonderful," he started out, licking his lips tentatively. "Since then I have been eager to come out here, to meet you more, to see you. You're a good friend who has helped me feel more like me after some tough times, and helped Esmere too. You're a good friend . . . but lately I will admit"--he gulped after a pause--"that I view you as more than a good friend. I'm actually--well--I'm in love with you, Kate."

He did not know that his face could even contain such a rush of blood, turning the brightest shade of red that he had yet turned. His eyes dodged hers a little, for a second or two, but he returned them with earnest. He made it this far, and he was determined to push through the embarrassment and fear to say it all.

"That's not the question, though," he spoke heatedly. "The question is . . . do you think the same? It does not have to be now, but . . . well, I feel like I must know one way or the other."

He pursed his lips, bracing for impact. He said his piece. He just had to wait for hers.

Kaitlyn Williams

Nervousness filled her eyes and veins as she awaited his response. Kaitlyn’s ears were perked upright now instead of cocked in either direction, she listened to his words cautiously. Her little heart began to patter even more now, more than she ever had before. Though, he had used the word: “love”.

Love... as in... what?’ She asked herself. She hadn’t really heard of that word before until this very moment. Though, she could recall seeing that word usage many times in her grandfather’s book. ‘Wait... maybe it’s the bigger word for like!?’’

Her eyes gained their focus again from her deep thoughts, and him asking her a question. Of course she felt the same! But how should she put it into words? “Err...” her tone was nerve racking as she started searching her heart for words, not her head.

Timo...” she began again, but this time she scooted even closer than earlier. She was brushing against him now. “I do... feel the same way... I... well... those three days I told you to stay home and not come by. Was torture. I couldn’t stop thinking of you... I... always have this feeling when I do think of you... you saved my life... which is what really set my heart in fire.

Her cheeks burned more than ever when she was going to finish this off, “I guess what I’m trying to say is... I love you too, Timo...” And finally, Kaitlyn knew deep in her gut how to show her feelings now... she slowly leaned inwards to him and a soft kiss was planted onto his lips. Shyly, she licked her lips afterwards and she puffed her cheeks out.

((My brain says that it must be calm, must be collected, and must be strong, but all I hear in the inner machinations of my mind is "Is it -- it is! Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Masterfully done, fellow evocative writer!
Masterfully done!))

Timo waited with bated breath, worry and excitement written across his face in an elaborate scrawl, but it was all worth the wait. As Kaitlyn came closer he unconsciously drew in his breath, fear melting away and leaving only a sensation of joy. She . . . felt the same! She completely felt the same! The self-afflicting torment he underwent was for nothing, and he felt awash with relief.

He absorbed every word that she spoke eagerly and with a burning sensation on his face -- he could not tell if it was a expression his muscles had never learned or if it was just the blood rushing to his head, and when she leaned in for a kiss he lay there in shock for but a second before he reciprocated, lips matching hers in a sweet and light manner.

The kiss felt both staggeringly short and infinitely long, but when she pulled back he felt as light as a feather, a somewhat tall, blushing feather. He smiled, his eyes starry with joy and still staring into hers, before he leaned in and gave her a second, slightly deeper kiss, his hand bracing against the ground behind him in order to lean in so.

((*laughs*. It happened! I still can't believe it happened! Look at our two, all grown up and sweet with each other.))

Kaitlyn’s heart pounding was soothed by his returned kiss to hers, and for once, she felt like all of her worries were swiped away. Kaitlyn’s first kiss was wonderful! Her tail that was thumping out of control, slowed down with her heartbeat. But when he went in for a second kiss, she couldn’t say no.

She leaned back to him, her angel-soft lips gently locked against his in happiness. This one was much deeper than the first, much more heavenly. Her cheeks burned with such a deep love sensation, it was uncontrollable. Kaitlyn even scooted in more with the kiss. Her eyes were closed and her ears were all so pink.

Kaitlyn never wanted this night to end, she didn’t even want to go home. She just wanted to be right here, with Timoteo. No one else. She wasn’t even thinking of Esmere or any of her animals.

Kaitlyn slowly but shyly, rose a hand to caress his cheek gingerly. Man how she loves every second of this! She wants to be in this place forever and not go anywhere else without him.

Timo closed his eyes too, and while the love was there for both kisses his once tentative lips were kissing her with more passion, more resolve, and more assurance. He mirrored her movement, his hand rising to her cheek as well, before he broke away with such an expression of adoration on his face. He felt like the luckiest person on the planet, to be able to love and be loved in return by the amazing person before him. His raised hand on her cheek slid down and rotated to brush the side of her face tenderly. He closed his eyes and laughed nervously.

"I, uh," he said, breaking down into a chuckle and retracting his hand to cover the bottom of his face. He was so embarrassed that he did not know what to say next. What could he say next? Think think think. "I guess I'm just . . . so happy now. Days of thinking and thinking about what-ifs that I never really thought about what would happen if how I felt for you was returned." He leaned his head toward the ground, his face still showing much happiness. "I'm so glad we met, Kate, and I swear I'll love you till the day I die or even beyond."

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn smiled as he returned to touch her face as well, a smile formed on her face from it. When he broke away, her eyes stayed closed for a moment then opening again. Her eyes glittered happily about everything, she also pulled her hand away, interlocking her fingers with her other hand beneath her chin. She was madly hypnotized by him right now, she was in love.

She listened to him with a smirk on her face, she felt more open to him now then ever before. Since he felt the same way as her, she but her bottom lip and puffed her cheeks again. “I’m glad I met you too... I mean, what would I have done without you?” She chuckled shyly. The last bit he said made her heart drop so low she would’ve kissed him and not stopped. More blood rushed to her cheeks and she rubbed the back of her neck with a cute giggle. “I will love you the same as well. You can come by my home whenever you please, from now on,” she smiled more, her little tail swished behind her.

Timo smiled back, the sensation of love overwhelming. His heart even now could not stop fluttering, and his brain was on overdrive thinking of the great things they can do together, just the two of them. Of course, there was Esmere to think about as well, especially if she wanted to continue coming with him and Kaitlyn, but he hoped that she would understand that they would want to spend time together. "Time together" -- those words seemed to hold a new light now that they had both confessed to each other.

The butterflies dying down in terms of fear and excitement just slightly helped him and his nerves, and he found an answer for her amazing invitation.

"That sounds wonderful," he responded, voice timid but at the same time brave. It was a weird sensation. He had never felt this way before, not even in all of those failed moments of attempting to find love earlier. With Kaitlyn, all thoughts and fears of being alone in the world felt soothed. There would be hardships ahead, for sure -- he had seen it with his parents and others before him and even them -- but together he hoped that their love would shine through the difficulties.

He fell purposely onto his back, a fist behind his head and his expression still locked in a smile that might even go on for hours. He gazed up and found that the stars above them still twinkled, and the shower of falling stars continued to shine overhead in tiny gashes of light across the night sky.

"The night is still young, and I wish it could last forever, and I feel I still have so much to learn about you," he spoke with a laugh, eyes locking with hers, "but would you like to watch the rest of the shooting stars with me? Please?"

He offered his hand tentatively, wondering if it was all right to hold hands with her while they observed the heavens together.

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn had never felt so warm with him before, since she now knew his true feelings for her were all she wanted to feel complete. Kaitlyn was also in her thoughts about Esmere being there when all Kaitlyn would want was to be with Timoteo. It would be okay sometimes for her to attend, but not every time. She had thought this before, but now it was more serious.

Kaitlyn watched his movement as he moved over, she did too. Her shoulder against his, a smile frozen on her face. Watching the stars, all she could do was be glad she made that wish. His voice snapped her from her clashing thoughts, biting her lip and turned her head to his direction once more.

Yes, of course,” she smiled. He had been thinking the same of her, not wanting the night to end either. She looked as he offered his hand, she slowly took hold of his. A smile widened on her face as her cheeks still burned a light tint of pink. How could things get any better? Kaitlyn watched the stars, her tail brushing against Timoteo from one side.

Scooting a little, she somewhat rested her head on his shoulder. Her ears upwards, the pinkness in her ears started to soothe. “I’m kind of glad that Esmere set us up...” she whispered, her eyes sparkling from the flashing stars. Her eyes glanced to him, to see what his response would be.

"I agree . . . this would not have been possible without Esmere, not like this," Timo said, feeling the warmth of her gentle hand in his as he continued looking up at the stars. He snorted in a chuckling manner. "As much as I hate to admit it, her pushiness helped in many ways. It might not have been best all the time, but it helped. I did not think anything of it until recently."

He paused, looking over to her and looking lovingly into her illuminated eyes. The stars brought out much of the pulchritude within them, and looking at her this close made him admire everything about her. Her hair, her eyes, the curl of her white fur, her adorable nose, the shape of her muzzle, and the beauty of her soul beneath that brought it all together--he took bits and pieces of all of this in and knew it would take many, many years to learn everything special about her. He just hoped that he would retain what makes him special as well. He just needed to figure out what.

"You look beautiful tonight," he expressed. "I don't think I've said that I thought that of you before, but I always thought that you were as dazzling as your inner self even before. I, erm, apologise if this comes off weird, but it was hard to keep my eyes off of you, even when I think you weren't looking."

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn chuckled a little at his response, but agreed. “True. She kind of boosted my confidence in a way. To show you how I feel at least. Also... made me like you more.” Her cheeks turned more red at the contact of his eyes with hers. Though, now she could stare freely into them without having to really dodge.

Her tail wagged at how happy she was; her cheeks also rose up beneath her eyes, revealing her adorable smile. Kaitlyn stared deep into his eyes, tempting to read them. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she blinked every few seconds.

She then looked over his face... the characteristics of his face was one that no one else could carry the traits of, except for him. His hair looked soft to her, wanting to feel. But thought it was too soon for that. She shook the thought away, by simply flickering her ears.

He then complimented her, it made her have an obvious jump. Her ears jerked upwards a little more than they already were. She honestly wasn’t all too sure how to respond to it though, she puffed her cheeks in response. She shot him a warm smile, “no. That’s not weird at all.” She then thought she might as well say something as well about her little habit of staring. “I must admit as well, I took a few stares your way. The first few to sent to you, I hadn’t felt the way I do now. But later, I did, just to study you.

Kaitlyn then shifted her fingers to interlock with his, a shy smile on her face now. Though, she did like him and he knew, she was still shy as could be. “I also brung you to meet and see some things that I knew of, because I wanted to show you more of me. To y’know, introduce myself. I’ve been attracted toward you, not because of looks or any of that sort... it’s more so because of your personality... I fell in love with that the most of. I’ve been stuck with you, since you saved my life. Which I’m going to keep bringing up. And all the things we’ve done together, were memories that I made, that I will never lose.” She giggled a little at this, since she could say things, not as nervously.

"Well then," Timoteo started out, cracking a grin at Kaitlyn, "I guess we both were guilty of tossing glances at the other."

Merging hands with hers, his cheeks burned a little more, especially when he thought about the moment not even fifteen minutes ago he was worried sick about the potential of things going so wrong. His face somewhat fell when she brought up the matter of his saving her life once again, though. He scratched his ear with his free hand and looked away.

"I don't know about that . . . all I did was get you some food and water and a blanket. In the end it was you that did the difficult part, but you pulled through beautifully, and, well . . . here we are. But rest assured that I will never lose these memories too. I will write them down if I have to, and until I . . . well, until later I will let you keep them, for safe-keeping." He squeezed her hand with his. "I love you, Kate, and will continue to do so. I just . . . I wanted to say that again, just because."

The last shooting star burned out overhead for a while, which caught his eye in a beautiful fiery glow. The showers seemed over for now, but something else persisted from that night that was beautiful to behold, and will be remembered for much, much longer in the eyes of two souls brought together by berries.

Kaitlyn Williams

She chuckled a little and parted a strand of her white hair behind her ear. She listened to him carefully, she wanted to remember everything as well. Maybe he may write things down like her grandfather once had before he passed. She smiled still when he said she could keep things he would write down about them together.

She rose both her eyebrows at him with an expression that pretty much said: ‘seriously?’ He did save her life. She was going to keep believing that for the rest of her life if she must. Never changing her mind not having second thoughts of it. She sighed and a smile widened once more onto her face. She was just... so happy that he felt the same way. The thing, that had been jawing at her stomach for what seemed like ages, was actually nothing to be stressing over.

Kaitlyn thanked the shooting stars as they finished off, she glanced to him. “What do you want to do now?” She questioned. Though, she didn’t want to leave his side.

((Hah! The "seriously" expression! I love it.))

Timo was still for a moment or two, then brought a hand to his chin in contemplation of Kaitlyn's question. Yes, what now? With the main event gone and confessions being over, he wondered what would be a good way to continue things this late in the night.

"What about . . . we tell each other some of the happiest days with our parents? I want to learn more about your mom and dad in your eyes, not your grandfather's. If they raised you as you are, they must have been wonderful." He laughed as a sudden memory came to mind. "I can tell you of mine as well, of my childhood, and of my late brother whom I miss dearly. I just hope mine is entertaining enough for you.

"Or we can do anything you want, too, really," he continued, stretching and making himself comfortable on the wonderfully soft blanket. His nerves were no longer frayed by wracking worry, and he was getting more comfortable with Kaitlyn's presence. He still smiled dreamily all the while, not yet forgetting that all that had passed happened recently. "If you can think of something, name it. I very much value your input."

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn rolled onto her stomach with her hands cupping her cheeks, listening to his idea for the night. She blinked softly as her eyes shifted to look at the ground, my parents? Now she’d have to think back. She flicked her ears in thought of her parents, also swaying her feet in the air behind her.

Let’s see. Uhm...” she cocked an eyebrow, trying to find a good place to start. She then looked back at him, “oh, yes they were wonderful. My mother was the one who mostly taught me of animals, we kept many around, you see. We had wolves, who protected our camp grounds. I could speak to wolves too, which they were the easiest to talk to since I’m half wolf. My father was always busy, he was kind of, let’s say, the leader of the camp. But when he wasn’t busy, he taught me how to catch fish. Which was impossible at first, but then I understood it.” She then went on and on about her family and even if Milo.

She turned to him from searching her thoughts, and rested her head on her hands. Her eyes were curiously staring at him, eager to know of his past as well.

Timo listened with great interest as Kaitlyn discussed her parents, a wide smile on his face as he absorbed a little more information about her. She discussed them at length, and he nodded along as he slid his feet underneath him in cross-legged fashion. He loved to listen to her speak and did not interrupt.

"They sound like wonderful people all right," he replied, so happy to hear that she had lived a life containing familial love. His face drooped a little, but not his smile. "I truly wish I could meet them."

It appeared as if it were his turn now, her lovely eyes resting on him now, apparently full of curiosity. He coughed into his hand to ready his voice. He did not know how long it would take, but it might be long. He had so much to iterate regarding his family.

"Well . . . where to begin? My parents and brother were refugees fleeing from a war. They travelled a long distance to get away from attacks against their country. When that country lost the fight, so too did the country's reputation. When they moved here to this village, they could barely speak the language, and matters worsened for anybody from that country. So, they laid low for a time, not speaking of where they came from since to anyone besides my brother and I, my brother having been one year old during much of the travel.

"I was born a year after they entered the house I live in now. Life was challenging, as my parents spoke to each other in their native tongue often but did not fully teach it to us. I did not know why then, but I think they wanted to protect us.

"My brother was rily and protective. I do not remember much about him, but my mom says that he kept a watchful eye on my crib, making sure I got what I needed or when I needed changing." He blushed at this. Perhaps that was too much. "When I grew up, he was like my idol. I wanted to be like him, and copycatted everything he did. My parents did not know what to do with two Gregors -- that was his name, by the way, Gregor." He sighed and face contorted into a bit of sadness. "As you know, he passed away when I was young. He was six and I was four. An illness kept him weak and from opening his mouth. When I saw a sheet over him, I wanted to let him breathe more easily by removing it, but I was taken out of the room.

"Anyways . . . Gregor lives on, in me in spirit and in heaven above. I intend to see him again, but not until I lived enough life for the both of us. My mom is a wonderful cook and is gifted in many ways, more than I can count. She taught me much of things not taught in the village, including how to read and write.
My dad was a hard worker, able-bodied and with a clear, cool head on his shoulders. He taught me how to ride a horse, work on numbers, do things correctly when it required a good set of eyes and hands. I had a different set of skills than both. Honestly, I think I might be a good artist or writer, but I can do a lot of things. I keep hounding my merchant friend for art supplies, but he never has more to spare. I think I will make my own, though. I just need pigments."

He looked over, wondering if she was still listening, and smiled over to her.

"Sorry if this is boring or something like that. In comparison to your family, my life is . . . messy. I am curious, though . . . were your parents like you? Wolf-like, I mean. Or, well, was one . . . human?"

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn's ears were pointed towards him, listening to everything he said about his family. Her tail swished in a wave-like motion behind her as he spoke. Kaitlyn's expression pretty much shows that she was still paying much attention and hasn't lost any interest. Her curiosity level went high and higher, she even motioned closer to him to show so. Once he turned to her she did a small clap to him and her cheeks rose up cutely. "Nah, it's not boring. But uhm... my parents were like me, actually. My father looked like me, he just had black fur all year round. My mother was alike to me, me and she were, well one could say, identical. But, to be completely true, my grandfather was human. He taught our kind the human ways of life, mostly on how to survive though."

Her blue eyes looked to him again, she puffed her cheeks once more. "I don't know anything of my grandmother though... she passed away the day before I was born," she flattened her ears for a mere moment.

Timo was overjoyed that Kaitlyn enjoyed his story so, relief flowing through his veins regarding this, though he quickly adjusted and listened in to Kaitlyn's answer to his questions.

He nodded in understanding when she mentioned her parents were like her and pondered over the visuals provided of a black-furred and white-furred pair of wolves doting over their daughter. It was an adorable mental image. Perhaps he can paint it when he has the supplies and gift it to her later? He would need a lot of extra details to make it especially decent in her eyes, however. Maybe he could ask her to model? But wait! her grandfather was human? Did that mean that if they were ever to have children . . .

He shook the idea free from his head and hoped that Kaitlyn did not get a good read of his face. This was not the time to think of such matters. He shifted a little closer to her and licked his lips in a tentative manner.

"I am sorry to hear of your grandmother," he said dolefully. "I am sure that she was a wonderful person." A flash of memory struck him, his eyes snapping fully open as he thought of it. "Wait, you said your grandfather was human. Was he the chronicler, or was it your other grandfather?"

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn bit her bottom lip and watched his expressions carefully, not really getting a full-on good reading though. Him apologizing for her of her grandmother's mentions made her lower her head some, and her ears. But him speaking once more made her look up at him, her beautiful eyes cautiously listening to his words. "Yes, he was the chronicler. He was human. Though, that's mostly all I remember of his appearance..." She poked out her lips then puffing her cheeks again from the silence for a moment. "Wait..." She leaned up.

"My parents actually had their own abode that they kept paintings and other things in. I don't think it burnt down though... I may need to go see for myself one time. Maybe then my memory will refresh them," she rubbed the palms of her hands together in thought. "My old home was actually behind where Target lives..." she was kind of talking to herself now, searching throughout her mind. Kaitlyn mumbled a little bit afterwards and lied back down with her arms across her chest.

"Burned down?" he muttered under his breath, as if confused before thinking about things. Did these people suffer from a war themselves? She was the last one here, but . . .surely there were others around. Nevertheless, he hoped that their history and culture will not be lost to the depths of time.

Now did not feel like the right time to press further, not when moments ago they were having a great time being in each other's company. He felt a little guilty about that and brought soemthing to voice as he reset himself beside her.

"Let's, um, not think too deeply on this for now. We should probably get some rest if we want to wake early enough to visit Esmere and see how her legs are working. I have to figure out what to say to her too. You know, about . . . us. Or should I even tell her? She'll probably know sooner or later. She might even be thinking about it right now." He shook his head and made a face. "But regardless of whatever happens in the future, I would be glad to help out and be there for you. If you need a place to stay for whatever reason, my doors will be open. There is my parents to think about as well, but, well . . . maybe I am thinking too far ahead."

Kaitlyn Williams

Kaitlyn turned over at him, her eyes gorgeous as always. Kaitlyn did a slight nod and she also realized things. Esmere. What to do with her. She'll be able to walk again for sure! But about Kaitlyn and Timoteo... hm. She cocked a brow in his direction and her ears flicked; obviously thinking at the moment. "You're right. She's going to find out anyway," she puffed her cheeks again.

Her eyes filled with a hidden appreciation at him as he offered his home if anything was to go wrong with her. Especially with winter approaching, things may or may not get rough. Her fur bristled at this. One winter was so bad about two or three years back; she had to literally make a fire and was so close to it, she about burnt herself. Kaitlyn hoped that wouldn't happen again. It was very freezing. Though, she had never seen snow before. She probably hasn't even heard of it before.

"I should probably change into the nightgown," she leaned up again and stretched with her arms up. "Give me a minute," she yawned as she picked up the gown from nearby and went behind some trees. She later returned all cozy feeling and sat back down. "Comfy!" She giggled.

((She has not seen snow! I detect a cute event of her first snowfall in the future.))

Timo watched on as Kaitlyn went through the motions of her thoughts, eyes inquisitive and yet soft and filled with interest. He loved the way that she puffed her cheeks out every now and again, the action quite adorable. He wondered why he did not really notice this before, but even still it was one more thing that he felt inclined to learn about her, to love about her.

When she slipped off to change into her bedclothes, he nodded and decided to change as well. Well, not so much change as remove his jacket and lay it over him like a blanket. The night was perhaps going to be a little chilly, but with that extra layer of insulation besides his buttoned shirt he felt it will be fine. He laid down beneath his makeshift covering, but lifted only his upper body when she came close. Wearing a nightgown that actually looked quite nice, if not stunning on her! Maybe it was a little overlarge because Esmere was actually a little taller, but she looked quite comfortable within it. He smiled and tried to keep himself focused on her eyes.

"Welcome back," he replied, smiling as he leaned back once more, adjusting his jacket. A shiver passed over him as the wind decided to glow through, and he admired how Kaitlyn seemed fine as she was. "This is a weird question, probably because you are accustomed to it," he started, "but . . . your fur. How does it feel? I do not have fur, so I am not accustomed to it and was rather curious."
