Idea Would you become a god?

Hi all, first time I am asking advice though have been doing rping for years. Had this idea but I don't know what to do with it to make it an rp and I would like your thoughts. In a fantasy world, they are a pantheon of gods who maintain and protect it in return they are worshiped with various sacrifices of food and drink. But every 20 odd years the gods call for a different sacrifice. A selection of the finest and most magical youth available, a sacrifice necessary for the future of these world. The youths are taken by the priest and are taken to a holy site and they disappear never to be seen again.

Finally it is your turn, you fear death but you must do your duty. You enter the holy site to meet your room. There is flash than the gods stand behind you but you are not dead and the gods though impressive seem only humans. For they are humans though blessed with God like powers , your purpose is not to die for them but to replace them. I have half a mind to do a magic vs technology theme with a world turning into a new industrial age.

KILL THE PIG. CUT HER THROAT. SPILL HER BLOOD
(This is a friend of Alec i saw the word sacrifice and couldn't resist. I am posting on things he would like while he watches. to make it so he can do stuff.)

I like this idea. I am a huge sucker for sort of peeking behind the curtains in fantasy world and exploring the real reason behind various mythologies and or traditions.

I especially like the idea of technology making people lose faith in the gods but their still being those with incredible power being born. And seeing how those children/teens/adults would handle a world in which they are not so much worshiped as feared. Or even the old gods being basically like "lol sucks to be you lozers we're outtie!" and just sticking the new gods with these sticky problems of belief and progress and magic v. technology.

if i had time i might keep an eye out for this ( i don't really do groups but it would be an interesting read along )

Thanks for your comments, they gave me a lot to think about. Might add the standard rogue evil god to help have s proper story, maybe not 100% evil though.

Ooh have someone who sort of sees the advent of technology as a way to get rid of the competition, maybe disquises himself among the people and sort of gets them riled at the others and figures either way it's a win win. either he gets rid of the troublesome humans and weakens the gods OR we weakens the humans and gets rid of the troublesome gods.

Mmm... Not quite. I don't want tech to be the route of evil just change, even considering adding a story element of a new machine god entering the pantheon. Also I imagine the evil god to be more an agent against the change and the fall of the gods, aiming to keep the pantheon for as long as possible.
