Keoni Kanekalau

As the youngsters seemed to be having fun with their new found abilities, he couldn’t help but to crack a smile as he watched them. Looking like little kids who received a new toy that would stay with them for a long time. He wondered how long it had been since the time he had fun like this. Being constantly surrounded by the threat of another all-out war which would cause for many to lose their lives if nothing was done beforehand. The crying children who lost their parents and those who were protecting others at their own cost. Traumatized, desperate and at a complete loss about what to do next. He didn’t want to see that again which was why he decided to quit the royal guard as they were mainly focusing to protect the royal family. It didn’t fit him and it was only a matter of time before it would happen. Better for it to be sooner than later as he high likely would’ve regretted it.

However, here he was again with the orders of the King. But this time it was different as he wasn’t forced to stay between the walls of this safe haven, he was actually being ordered to go out and save those who needed to be saved. Even if it were only small tasks that would help them out greatly, he would do it. One could say that it was his weak spot which he didn’t deny. Rubbing the back of his neck as he eventually stood up from where he was seated. The cold stone underneath him, almost freezing his butt off so it was pretty numb. Dusting off his clothes before walking to the exit of the room, holding his stance just in front and turned around to face the newcomers.

”Since you all have your weapons, follow me. We’ll be patrolling the village outside of the castle.” He commented in a loud voice, pushing the door open, not even waiting for them to trail after. The sun was blazing, the hotness immediately crashing into him as if he was not allowed to get out in the fresh air. Holding a hand in front of him as he almost got completely blinded by the sun who didn’t have any mercy on them. Pulling off his jacket and tying it around his waist since it was way too hot to walk around in full sleeves. His arms were covered in minor scars, the outline of his muscles clearly visible. Only a dark shirt hung loosely around his torso which was enough to make his way through without any annoyances.

The exit from the equipment room was near the bridge they had to cross to reach the town called Midbell. The noise could already be heard from were they were walking. Only getting louder the closer they got. Greeting soldiers who recognized him with a small bow as he couldn’t talk to them right now as he was supposed to be guiding this group of Earthlings around the place. Within a few minutes, they arrived at the bridge. A small river running beneath it, yet strong enough to pull someone with it if they couldn’t swim well. Guards were standing at either end to check up on who entered and who left the castle grounds. A few moments later, they got to Midbell. Being greeted by the noises of the people from the market who had to sell ‘special’ stuff. Some had gotten good in tricking people while others were honest in their sales.

”If there’s anything you want to see or do, tell us so you won’t get separated which would mean trouble. We can even split up in three groups. However do mind that this is not like where you live. There are people with bad intentions all over the place and wouldn’t scare away from physically attacking you.” Keoni said clearly as he made his way through the crowd, glancing back once in a while.

NEVEN REINER

“Numbers...taxes…numbers…audit…numbers…numbers.”

It had been a long day on a job he despised; however, he was the only one that could remedy the travesty. Despite despising math, numbers, and the like, Neven couldn’t live with himself knowing that someone could potentially be screwing around with the finances of his favorite tech company. It did come with a few perks, such as all the latest tech to facilitate his other compulsion, gaming.

“Numbers…that’s wrong…fixed…annnnnnnd it’s 11:11pm. Phew, I’m finally free!”

As if fate instantly cursed him, a young co-worker ran towards Neven with a stack of folders filled with unorganized documents. “Hey Nev! Before you go-“

“No,” Neven replied without looking in his direction.

“But Nev this will take us forever. It will only take 15 minutes if you do it.”

(Actually it would take me 23 minutes. By that time it will be past the beautiful time of 11:11. I would have to wait until 12:12 to leave work. However, if I leave now those papers will be mixed up until the next morning. Ugh, what a dilemma. I suppose I’ll just have to leave and worry about those papers later. My productivity is already slipping.)

“But it’s 11:11,” Neven whined failing to convey the entirety of his thoughts even though he believed he presented all of his reasoning with this statement.

“Come on man, I’ll owe you one!”

“You owe me 15,” Neven muttered to himself as he glanced toward the papers and then back to the clock which now displayed 11:13. He let out a sigh and then began sifting through the papers as he waived his co-worker off.

“You’re the best!”

“No…I just have a problem.”

It seemed like forever, especially with all the free time he had, but Nev was finally ready to leave. It was 12:11 when he decided to head down the stairs. With the promise of freedom he started to daydream about the games that would be played when he arrived home. A true remedy for pent-up stress. The dream was a bit too vivid as he accidentally missed a step and was instantly filled with regret.

“F-M-L,” was all he could say as he proceeded down his deadly decent and crashed into a wall as everything faded to black.

He was awake almost as soon as he was unconscious. He instantly knew this was not a hospital and briefly took in all his surroundings without paying much attention to it for he believed these were all constructs of his mind.

“Hmm so I have entered a coma. Wait, is it even possible to remember what happened before said coma while also acknowledging your own comatose state. Well that sucks. Descending bridge of doom I curseth thee and thou offspring, elevators.”

Neven grabbed his arm curiously and pinched it. After nodding with a sense of approval he inspected other parts of his body and even exaggerated his breathing. “I must admit that this is the realist dream I’ve ever been in, but something just seems off.”

After finally hearing the King’s full speech he had just noticed that he was one of the many he was referring to. Specifics was something he could not recall but he could ascertain that there were some baddies, and they were to goodies to help the locals. Something about them being summoned or another. However, he did have the option to go back. Neven looked back at the sorcerers as he had visions of cup ramen. “Hmm, that might not be such a bad idea. This might be one of the triggers my mind has set up to wake me up,” Neven said as he still believed this was not real.

He then looked at the rag tagged group of individuals that totaled to eight excluding the King who didn’t count for obvious reasons in Neven’s mind. “If I leave, it’s only seven, and that's a prime number...disgusting.” Neven decided the stay for the sole purpose to keep the group even. Besides, its not like this world was real. If he wanted to, he could probably leave anytime. His thoughts ran so deep that he nearly got left behind, just as the intimidating man had warned. “Left behind in my own dream…”

Everyone was energetic, too energetic. He overheard some of the conversations which could only be described as not normal. “I guess I’ll look around for a weapon.” Neven tried and tried, but he couldn’t find anything that suited him. A feeling of déjà vu swept over him as this was eerily similar to the fantasy RPGs he had played in his lifetime. That was when he something glinted in the far corner of the room toward the magic side. It was a weird but beautiful violin. “Oooh they have instruments here. Well of course, this is my dream after all.” He took the violin in his arms and could not deny that it felt as if he found the missing piece to a puzzle. “What am I supposed to be. Some sort of mage, bard thingy? Definitely not a knight."

Before he could experiment with his new “weapon” the group once again left him behind. “Left behind again, my subconscious must be a masochist.”

Feeling he needed some sort of defense outside of a musical instrument, Neven decided to grab a small sword just in case while he pulled a violin case along a strap that went over his shoulder. As usual, Neven was too enveloped in his own thoughts to realize he had practically made himself invisible to his new companions. Perhaps it was great fortune that he was towards the back because when they reached the bridge no one would see the profuse sweat that dripped down Neven's face. Even if he still was in denial about this world being real, heights were still a problem for him. Facing his next fear was even worse, uneven groups. As they made it to the bustling town he could only hear bits and parts of what he was saying. Neven made mental notes of his own as Keoni spoke. That was when he mentioned them splitting up.

“Wait what?”

Splitting up wouldn’t be a problem, but with the number of people present, dividing the current group by 3 would be a problem. Neven couldn’t help but cut in to his monologue. “Or four!” He said these words with unnecessary passion and anxiety. He immediately covered his mouth as if it betrayed him. Obviously, Neven knew further dividing the strength of the group was bad strategy, but it was still better than uneven groups. (Darn, why did I speak up now?)

FINALLY CAUGHT UP. ;_;

As Naomi went on, Kirron nodded accordingly. Earth seemed to definitely have its fair share of problems, but then again, what realm didn't? He didn't speak again until Naomi mentioned vampires again. "Garlic, stakes, holy water, and sunlight, then? If that's what it takes to kill them, then regrettably my home city is quite ill-prepared. Well, a much simpler solution, I would presume, would be to simply bind one and just let the burning rivers do the rest of the work after we toss them in. Makes for quite the rapid cremation, and leaves no remains to clean up. At least, that appears to be a universal answer to a problem concerning the undead."

Her talk of meeting the deities of his realm made Kirron smirk. "I would deduce, perhaps, that they believe they are not needed on Earth. After all, yours is a civilization that has rapid, long-distance communication, advanced vehicles and weaponry, and seemingly all manner of art forms. Let us not forget that you already have a singular god that presides over your world, and though I do not consider myself an expert on the behavior of gods, I would imagine he would be most upset if a new wave of ruling deities magically appeared and usurped his throne."

Kirron rubbed his chin as Naomi brought up the fox. "I believe it had only five, but that is a good point to keep in mind, about ones with nine. Best I not anger them."

Naomi's further talk about Japan and its culture had the dwarf a tad puzzled. She was throwing out more than a few terms he didn't quite understand, but he showed interest nonetheless.

Kirron looked back up to Naomi when she expressed her preparedness for combat. "Very well. There is one thing you must understand, however. There exists in this world, or any one, for that matter, chaotic monsters that acts purely for the sake of chaos. The foul, abhorrent minds that control these beings care nothing for the consequences or those that would seek to stop them. They prefer to merely carry on as they wish, under the delusion that they are a messiah who is willing to be a martyr just the same. In that case, it is impossible to be considered universally heroic, for though you might rescue a village from a horde of nocturnal beasts and be declared a hero by the townsfolk, you are just as much a villain to the creatures you slay, as they will act on what they considered to be notions of heroism toward their own race. It is quite the curious conundrum, and one that perhaps Earth should study further."

Having said all that, Kirron clapped his hands together as both he and Naomi agreed to rest the conversation there. "Excellent. Let us continue another time."

It was then that Keoni made the questing group journey outside the castle to a nearby town. Midbell, was it? Kirron had briefly passed through on his voyage here from Keldir. While Keoni had made his way forward on his own, Kirron stayed behind to speak with Neven, who had just obtained his weapons. "Oh, come now. We can't have someone staying behind, now can we?. It is apparent we will have to create a group of four to compensate for your sudden appearance, my musically-inclined acquaintance. Nobody, be it human, elf, dwarf, grimalkin, kobold, kitsune... well, I presume you get the notion... should have to be abandoned over something as asinine as the inability to create a numerically equivalent party."

Quinn heard the voice of Edgy Companion 1 and quickly ran to follow. He did have a couple of places he wanted to see, but he felt as if it would be kind of useless to ask to see random shops. Even if he did have a slight curiosity as to how people use magic into a daily life, it would be much to easier to ask. Though now, he was kind of out of the conversations. And butting in would be a bit rude so, curiosity would have to stay unsatisfied for now. He found it a bit easy to slip in and out between people, keeping his eyes hard on that distinct anime red hair. It really helped.

The only thing that was a bit difficult was the added length to his legs. Even though it wasnt an extreme addition, it was still an instant inch. Which normal people dont usually get, or grow. He would get use to it first, but for now an added clumsiness would be stuck to him. He soon got his eyes pulled away from him, getting distracted by the different people. It was pretty diverse in his opinion, but to be fair home didnt really have different physical races. He questioned how earth would socially accept someone with different ears than them. It made him snort a bit at how ridiculous home was.

Quinn found himself dragging behind a bit, running to catch up. "So uh, who would want to shank you in the dark? This place seems pretty populated, id imagine it would be hard to stab and run." Might as well start mingling somewhere. And even if he doubted the possible muggings in crowded areas, he didnt want to get mugged. Cups tend to hurt a bit anyways.

Keoni hummed as he heard the sudden outburst of a young man who didn’t really stand out from the crowd of newcomers. Tilting his head to the side as he slowed down a little so the guy could walk at the same pace. ”So you want to go split up the group in four, meaning that one group of all newcomers will need to walk around by themselves? Would you like for them to be attacked on the first day or get lost?” He responded sharply as he didn’t approve of that thought no matter what. It was already something that they were going to split into three groups since, but at least one of the supervisors would be with them during that time which made it less dangerous. He could swear he felt his eye twitching even at the ridiculous comment the guy made. Glancing towards Kirron who seemed to have the same opinion but worded it better.

Smirking as he heard another comment about it being nearly impossible to do a hit and run when it was this crowded. ”Oh? You really think so? Take in mind that your world is different from ours, meaning we have abilities your planet doesn’t have. Some of us can conceal ourselves, other can make a barrier which makes it so that the crowd can’t see you, and then there are those who are skilled in assassinations. It happens more than you can think.” He responded to the mage’s comment. Shrugging lightly as it was part of this life, especially when the economy was well, there was more chance on crime.

Just by the mere second the boy was a little distracted by the crowd, he took a sharp turn so he would stan right behind him. Hand placed on the male’s hip, thumb pushing against the flesh. ”It really is easier than you think, especially if you aren’t used to the ways here.” He said in a serious voice. It was mainly because he was worried about someone getting caught up in a crime. Letting the other go once he said that and started walking to the largest market where he took his halt. ”We’ll be splitting up here. Two go to the east with Kirron, two to the west with Celes and one with me to the South [only one since it’s the most dangerous part of the town].” He instructed.

Emilia had just casted her spell and found it worked. This was insane. She actually casted magic just now. Immediatly, she dug herself into the book she had to find the coolest spells. This could finally, after all those years, give her a meaning. Give her a place where she would be respected for who she was, not who her parents were.
As she read through all the spells, instructions, conditions and explanations, she heard the turmoil around her. She had probably not helped out with her spell, even if it could not have hurt somebody. Maybe they were scared of the magic. Emilia didnt know, but it wasn´t her issue anyways.

She kept reading, zooming out as she did not hear the world around her anymore. She even almost got left behind, when suddenly everyone started moving. Emilia therefore closed the tome and, as if it had meant to be, found out it fit perfectly in the book-shaped compartment on her belt. With her book stored, Emilia then followed after the others. She was led to a village, that seemed to be very near to the castle.

The people started to get a bit chaotic and Emilia had trouble to keep her attention up. But she realized they would be split up. She would not yet volunteer for a certain spot. She´d not care much who she went with. She had to get to know all of them, if this was to be succesful, after all. Therefore, she quietly kept sweating, as her mage´s outfit was all but light and made for a hot day.

Ah, he had forgotten about that. Even if magic was an amazing thing with boundless opportunity to do good, there would be those who would use it for the opposite. Even if a room of invisibility sounded cool, he didnt want to experience it first hand. But he trusted this strange almost emo man and if he said 'dont get killed', Quinn wouldnt get killed. Just when he felt the light breeze of sudden movement all he could do was widen his eyes ever so slightly. The hand on his back was a warning, and even if Quinn was a sit at home nerd, he knew that he would be dead. But on the other hand, that was pretty kinky.

Quinn responded with a light nod, ashamed of his ignorance and lack of concern. He would just need to prove himself even more now. "Ill go with you to the south then." Quinn raised his hand a bit, only a bit, to signal his determination. He didnt want to put a young lady in the situation of shady ville. but in reality he didnt want to back down, and he didnt even know this edge lords name yet so might as well try and get it now. He looked back to the rest of the group, who seemed to be just as bewildered at the surroundings as he was. And there was a lot to be bewildered about. Cities were big, sure. But this place had so much people in one place, the only thing resembling such a mess would be the subways.

Hmm, it served her right! Though I had been patient enough to recognize the dwarf was at least going along with the conversation this one time. Still, this girl Naomi kept ignoring what I told her. How many times would her older brother have to explain it to her before she understood she had to have a little more tact?

Still, I should've known better. Despite the fact the body I was in now was somehow even more fragile and weaker than that degenerated male body that had let itself slack off on all things exercise while it focused on drawing and selling manga, the one thing more sensitive than erogenous zones was Naomi. I felt the color drain from my face as I saw the girl's eyes flooding with tears.

"Ah, no wait, please don't cry! We're in public, in public! I'm sorry, sorry ok, just please dont' cry!" This was terrible. I didn't feel as bad about Naomi crying due to something I did as I probably should, even though that was because this girl would cry over just about anything, truly my baby sister. Rather, it would seem really bad seeing that girl cry, people would start wondering what happened, who did it, oh, that disgusting guy did it (well, I guess I was also a girl now, would they end up blaming it on the dwarf then?). That or this could be one of those societies where "only the strong survive" and those that cry can get all kinds of things done to them. Just the thought of those man approaching my little sister, tongues out like dogs ready to take the cherry, no, impermissable! It gave me chills up my spine already. And while I worried about that, my sister managed to calm down a little, and start asking a few incriminating questions. I looked away. "I, I didn't say I was IN your house, only that he said that he told you to keep the ranting to your house. Just, just that hahaha... I met him hum....on a manga stand! Yeah, he was giving signs."

<C'mon Naomi, please fall for it! Though calling me "pretty" was unecessary, I'm supposed to be "handsome" or "cool", not "pretty"!> I cried inside.

Then came the big one. I could pass the previous mistake as an error on Naomi's part, but this one was all on me. It was a little suspicious indeed, but still...

"Oh, I, he makes ecchi manga, sure, but he also makes a lot of non-ecchi too! Like hum.... "Wallpaint Knights"!That one was a growing up story, not ecchi!" Well, it was also one of the first manga I tried making, very short and sold so bad half the copies were returned with spiderwebs. "A-anyway, it was nice meeting you personally Naomi! I'll hum... I'll go get my last weapon."

I rushed to the magical weapon section, which was at last getting a little cleared out. Fortunately for me, the mirror staff I wanted had been surrounded by other, fancier staffs like golden ones and staffs with magical glowing thingies , and not far away were a bunch of edgy smoky scythes people rushed to get. As such, i was able to obtain my mirror staff in a nick of time, as just as I got a hold of it, we ended up getting called over since we already had our weapons by the guy with the puppy ponytail.

Since I'd just gone to pick up a weapon for myself, I ended up falling behind the group, even behind that green haired guy who was carrying around a musical instrument for some reason. Well, to be fair, my mirror staff was also a pretty odd weapon of choice. Maybe his class let him spit fireballs from the violin or something. Still, I had better things to worry about right now. With a belt to hold the knives and the gun, and staff in hand, I rushed ahead through the crowd.

"Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me...." I wanted to get as close to Naomi as possible, but preferably without her noticing I was watching her. My plans, however, were spoiled by the announcement that we'd be split into small groups now. A squabble broke out between the dwarf and the ponytail, and I decided to use that opportunity to approach Naomi again. It looked like watching over her couldn't be done without being a little bit more open about it. "Hey, Naomi. Would you maybe like to hum....pair up or whatever? For these groups."

"Yep, and fire, light magic, and beheading them works too. I am not sure if using silver or holy relics would burn them, but it is worth a shot if that happens to them. Btw, did your city had any paladins, clerics, or anybody who can use fire on the vampires? Because that is a big mistake when dealing with them, but then again. They would have solved the vampire problem if you just extracted blood from some people, and gave them the blood in a container." said Naomi.
It isn't that hard to deal with vampires if you just gave them what they want, as the vampires are very simple creatures for being an undead.

Naomi was a bit sad about what Kirron said about the deities, but he has a point. "I guess you are right about that, but it would have been nice to know who our god is and what they really look like." said Naomi.
She thinks that their god is a young guy or girl, who doesn't want to appear on Earth for some reason.

The kitsune part was brought up again. "Well, they won't be angry if you are scratching behind their ears, or petting them on the head. Most animals like that, and foxes are not a exception. If you can get a kitsune to make some fox noises, it is very cute when they do that." said Naomi.
Despite kitsunes having a human form, changing their genders, and magic. Naomi knows that they are still a fox here, and who wouldn't want to scratch them behind their ears or pet them on the head.

Moving on to what Kirron said next, since he said nothing about the Japan part. Naomi just look at him, for not every monster is a chaotic being once you understand them a bit better. "True, because the guy who is using the plague-like monsters wants world domination. But the whole heroism thing really depends on the situation, and in some of them. You can be a pacifist by talking to that person during a fight. Since they might be dealing with their own problems, and they are trying to kill you for some reason." said Naomi. "I don't want to be killing people all of the time, but the world domination guy is an exception. People like them already lost their humanity, and they should be punish for that."

She saw Kirron clapped his hands together when the conversation have ended, and Naomi was happy that was over for now. "Alright, and there is one more thing that I forgot to mention here. Earth knows about the dwarves, and we know that you guys are great at blacksmithing." said Naomi.
Naomi wanted to finish the conversation with that, so Kirron would have something to think about.

Naomi heard what the elf girl have said, and she was going to completely fall for the manga stand and the Wallpaint Knights part until they said I, He during the ecchi part. "Oh, I see." said Naomi, grinning.
She pretended that she didn't notice what the elf girl have said by pushing the conversation into the Iori's girlfriend territory. 'The I, he makes ecchi manga part doesn't make any sense unless... Oh shit. The elf girl might be Iori, but for now. I want to mess with them a bit more, since I want her to say that they are Iori here.' thought Naomi.
As Naomi was thinking about that, she was about to ask the elf girl if she is Iori's girlfriend. However, the elf girl left to get their mirror staff before coming back. "Welcome back, and of course, you can pair up with me." said Naomi. "I also want to ask you if you are Iori's girlfriend, and what your name is."

Kirron's eyes narrowed in minor disgust as Keoni criticized him. "I said a group OF four, not four individual groups... did he truly not understand me? It truly isn't that difficult to understand my diction...!" He murmured to himself once Keoni was out of earshot. Nevertheless, he agreed with the Striker's plan.

Kirron finished the conversation with Naomi. "Silver is plentiful in our city, and so too are a vast number of minerals and metals, so it wouldn't be too taxing to set up a few religious icons. We do have priests of our own, but they're anything but battle ready. As for fire magic... dwarves are not particularly magic-casters. Sure, I've studied the mechanics of magic and how it functions, but if I were to attempt to conjure a spell, it would fail. It simply isn't in my body's nature."

He was absolutely disgusted by the premise of offering blood. "How repugnant! Why should we be assuaged to injure ourselves because some long-fanged corpses intrude on our fair city? Besides, it would be impossible for them to enter Keldir without permission from the twin guards that operate the city's mechanical gates."

Naomi's talk about foxes found Kirron scribbling more notes in his book. "Very well, that sounds simple enough."

Kirron briefly touched on the hero/villain topic once more before pressing on. "At the same time, however, how are we to know that this entity isn't trying to purge the world of something they deem to be vile and malicious?"

Finally, Kirron responded to the last statement with a raised brow. "Well, it's at least reassuring that Earth got that simple fact correct. But," He raised a finger, "there's a great deal more to it than simply crafting fine weapons and armor. We're also proud inventors and builders, as I had described earlier with the floodgates and gondolas. I will forgive them on that, however, for they truly do not know us firsthand."

Getting back to the business of forming groups, Kirron said, "Well then, if we must split the groups as such, then my first choice is blindingly easy. Naomi, I feel as if you would best off traveling with me, considering our bountiful interactions mere moments ago. And..." His eyes briefly trailed toward Iori. "...seeing as you and this elf seem to have some form of connection that I do not fully comprehend, I suppose she ought to come along with the two of us, as well. This does work out in the end, it seems." Kirron quickly tacked a thought to the end of that statement:

/Besides, SOMEONE will have to begin the process of chipping away at her gratuitous anxiety./

He looked to the east and beckoned both Naomi and Iori to follow him. "If any rapscallions, finks, or other such ne'er-do-wells attempt to attack us, I assure you they will not meet a happy end - at least, from a fair distance." Kirron pulled his weapon from his back. "This is my Magic Projection Device, a... particularly curious invention of mine. It takes in magic provided by runic discs and magnifies it a great many times, producing a quite deadly blast indeed. I had originally designed it as a means of purging salamander eggs from the lava channels of Keldir. When equipped with an ice magic disc, the subzero energy freezes the embryos inside before they even have a modicum of a chance to hatch, and at the same time, leaves the remaining shells fragile enough to simply break away and be carried off by the molten current. Now that I am here above the surface, however, it will be quite the scientific venture to investigate just how effective it is in a true battle - if any should occur, that is." At the utterance of the last six words, Kirron looked over his shoulder toward Naomi and Iori.

She heard what Kirron said about their situation with the vampires, and Naomi felt bad about it. "That explains a lot of why your city has a problem with vampires, and I said nothing about injuring yourself with a weapon." said Naomi. "We have something called a blood donation on Earth, and we just stick a needle in our arm to put it in a bag for a health reason. It is a bit complicated when the people of Tianneron don't know about the benefits of blood, since they are very tiny to see with your naked eye. But if you do make something like a microscope in order to see them, you would be surprised by what they can do to help people."
Naomi wasn't sure how to explain it to Kirron, since they don't have a microscope in their world.

Thinking about what Kirron said during the hero/villain topic, because Naomi wasn't sure if the people of Tianneron did horrible things in the past. "That might be true, but we will never know if we don't ask their leader, and know about Tianneron's history." said Naomi.

She then snapped her fingers when Kirron mentioned the dwarves being as inventors and builders. “Damn it. I forgot to say that, because we often see dwarves in a blacksmith or holding a war hammer on Earth. We don’t notice them when they are being an inventor or a builder, but they are there during a story or in art.” said Naomi. “I know that you are an inventor, Kirron, but for some reason. My mind wandered off for a bit, and thought about the blacksmith dwarf who creates weapons and armor for my character in a video game.”
Naomi doesn’t pay attention to what the dwarves are doing in video games, as she often sees them in the blacksmith when she wants a new weapon or armor for her character. She also doesn’t play as them, since Naomi keep picking the animal people, elves, or humans in video games.

Naomi followed Kirron with Iori probably following behind them, and saw Kirron’s weapon. “Wow. That is really cool, and Earth’s salamanders are very different from your salamander problem in Keldir. They don’t live in lava channels, but they do prefer to be near water.” said Naomi. “We also don’t have a problem with them, for they like to be in a forest.”

Iori Status Report:
Display Title: Eternal Virgin
I breathed a sigh of relief as Naomi gave me permission to pair up with her. Step one of the hurdles, cleared! This was further helped by the dwarf's own remark about me and Naomi going together with him, seeing how it fit the group size just right, plus between the three of us, we'd already established we had some connection between us. Indeed, some masterful planting of flags, but what of foreshadowing? If a flag represented an immediate future set up by keywords and phrases, the foreshadowing could be anything leading up to major events in the future. If I managed to ever get a breather in this world, I ought to consider what sort of route I was on. For now, however, there were more pressing matters.

"Eh...what did...AAAAH!" How the heck was I supposed to respond to that?! Obviously I had to deny it! Lying to her even more, putting myself in such embarassing ropes, how could I do that? But on the other hand, I might end up slipping up and showing knowledge a fan would never have, nomatter how into someone they were. I swallowed. "Y-yeah...Y-you caught me... I was Iori's g-g-gi-gi-gir- his lover. We hum...didn't get to meet that often though. I still had to go to SOME classes at least...hehehe... Oh, that's right my name. My name is hum.... My name is Iori. Iori O-Otoko. Yeah, that. Oh, but just because I have the same name as your brother doesn't mean anything, ok? Or maybe hum...maybe it's like fate or something?"

<Damm it Naomi! Now I'll never be fulfilled as a guy, why did you have to remind me of it!> I cried inside while attempting to keep a straight-faced smile outside. I needed a distraction now, so Naomi wouldn't persue the matter further. Honestly, that girl talked too much. I approached the dwarf.

"Speaking of names, I don't think I've got yours yet? Oh and hum, that weapon you're holding seems fierce. Will you protect us with it? You seem rather capable. I wonder why you need people from another world like us to begin with if you yourselves can fight even better, to the point we need your protection. Just simple curiosity." Except it wasn't. If I got them to rethink this, maybe both me and Naomi could get out of it safely at least.

Kirron realized what Naomi was trying to say despite not understanding everything that was said. "Keldir does not have a problem with vampires. In fact, vampires have never managed to set foot inside to begin with. As I mentioned, entry is impossible without permission from the gate guards, as only they can properly operate the necessary mechanisms. Furthermore, no matter how you phrase it, we shouldn't have to donate our own blood to anyone, save the nigh-impossible exception that someone needs it to brew some form of immortality elixir. Developing this 'microscope', as you call it, would prove beneficial, to advance our knowledge of medical science. And, salamanders live near water on Earth? Well, those certain seem a great deal safer to be around than ours."

Getting back to the morality lesson, Kirron rolled his eyes in secret. "I am aware that we don't know the true answer. But, it is not outside the realm of possibility that he is, that is all I am suggesting. This journey has begun mere milliseconds ago, and we've a lot to learn, I would ascertain."

Once Naomi had mentioned dwarves, Kirron turned around and shook his head, but gave a slight grin. "At least you caught a mistake you've made and fixed it. No harm done, lass. As for that other bit, however..." He about faced quickly. "Most humans around here hear the word 'dwarf' and immediately think of those 'little fellows' that crowd bars with coarse accents and sour attitudes and gorge themselves on any form of drink they can afford, and not the more intelligent and... in-control ones like myself." Kirron made a "tsst" sound. "I know my fair share of those types in Keldir. The Captain of the Vulcan Guard, he's the easiest one to remember, along with every last one of his men. The point is, it doesn't surprise me that even on Earth, humans skip over that one detail. It is fine, however. You've no need to apologize. Besides..." Kirron pointed to Naomi over his shoulder using his free hand. "...you're not wrong about us making weapons and armor worth talking about. Though, what is a... 'video game'...? Another form of Earth entertainment?"

Kirron turned toward Iori when she addressed him. "Ah, that's right. You were too caught up in that little scene of yours to hear the King introduce me or for me to do it myself, I presume? Not to worry, I will do it once more. I am Kirron Blackforge, proud inventor and engineer of the Dwarven City of Keldir. Aside from constructing the device I wield, I've also helped to design the city's complex flow and floodgate network. I heard you mention your name was Iori, and so I will commit that to memory." Iori's comment of curiosity made Kirron slightly annoyed at first, but he kept calm. "It's quite easy to understand, really. I am not a man of close quarters combat, unlike my armored brethren of the Vulcan Guard. If some fiendish monster were to pounce at me, I would be defenseless save the option to simply beat it with the rear of my invention. 'Twould be foolish to loose a shot from my weapon at such a short distance, else I would be wounded quite severely along with my assailant. As such, it is best for me to keep my distance. I should mention that this tool of mine is an early prototype that I have hypothesized could be useful on our journey, with a few design flaws I must iron out at a significantly later date. The rune disc must be rotated in order to ready the next burst, and when it is exhausted of energy it must be replaced. This process must be done with the utmost care and not be rushed whatsoever, otherwise I run the risk of damaging the device and triggering a potential magic-based explosion. With all of this in mind, while I am the leader of this miniature group, I will still need fighters to cover the closer ranges while I make short work of more distant foes. Does that make sense?"

After giving that detailed explanation, Kirron began rubbing his chin. "Perhaps it might be worth the effort to attach a sort of blade to the end of the barrel..."

“So your vampires can’t teleport into the city, or sneak their way in by turning into a bat? That really sucks, but I guess it can’t be helped.” said Naomi. She thought that they were fighting the vampires, so that is why Naomi kept talking about them.
When Kirron mention that their people do make immortality elixir with people’s blood, she regretted with saying to extract people’s blood with a needle idea.
“Ok. The needle in the arm to extract blood isn’t a good idea if the people of Tianneron try to brew an immortality elixir.” said Naomi.
Those type of people won’t be sane if they make an immortality elixir, because sooner or later. They will be insane from living for a very long time.
Naomi just smiled when Kirron said that he will use the microscope. ‘Kirron is so going to have fun with giving them names here, since they can’t give them their original name like a microscope.' thought Naomi.
“Yes. Salamanders live near water on Earth, because of their skin and gills. They can walk around on land, but they have to deal with the water problem eventually.” said Naomi.

The morality lesson was next, and Naomi just sighed. “I will not be surprised if he is summoning those monsters for a very simple reason. I mean most of the villains that I seen before on tv, movies, comic books, and video games usually have a complicated reason for their horrible actions. If this guy is just a jerk who want world domination, because he wants to do that. He is the most boring realistic villain we have ever met.” said Naomi.
She honestly hopes that the guy who is summoning the monsters isn’t boring, because he is kinda like a real life final boss here.

Kirron then continued to talk about dwarves, and Naomi was interested in that. “Well, we don’t think of you dwarves like that on Earth. In fact, when people see a dwarf in any of our entertainment. People think that the stuff that they create is awesome, or they want it to exist in our world.” said Naomi.
A big grin appeared on her face when Kirron asked her what is a video game. “Yes. It is another form of Earth entertainment, but unlike tv, movies, or comic books where you are watching a show, a movie, or reading a comic book. You get interact with the main character’s world by playing as them.” said Naomi. “To make it even easier for you to understand what I am talking about. I will use our adventure as an example of a video game on Earth. The tutorial of the game would be the castle, since the king summoned us there, and told us what is going on. Someone would give the main character a weapon, and a main quest of what they should be doing. As time went on, they get stronger by going into a bunch of dungeons, or doing some side quests. They do eventually make it to the final boss, which is the guy who is summoning the monsters in our case, and kill him in the end. Some video games do involve a princess being kidnap by the final boss, but that won’t happen to us.”

Naomi's eyes went narrow when she heard the elf girl's name. 'This is a coincidence, because there is no way that she would have the same name as Iori. She even has a O in her last name which makes this more suspicious.' thought Naomi.
Iori's stuttering wasn't helping them at all with this either, since if they were being honest with her. She wouldn't be doing that to begin with. "Iori's lover? Did Iori put a ring on you, and that is such a rare coincidence with you having the same first name as my brother. I hope you aren't lying to me, since if you are lying about who you really are." said Naomi, as her innocent side temporary disappeared.'They are still lying to me! It is like they are looking down on me like a little kid, even though I can take care of myself.' thought Naomi. She started to growl at them, because what they are doing. "I WILL BEAT YOU UP UNTIL YOU BEG FOR MERCY."
Naomi returned to her innocent side like that threat didn't even happen. "Maybe it's like fate, and no promises with me thinking that your name doesn't mean anything here." said Naomi.
The name: Iori does mean a lot to Naomi, so someone having the same name as him is going to make her suspicious of them.
'Fate huh. This elf girl is giving away even more that this is my brother: Iori.' thought Naomi.

OOC: If i messed up anything let me know. Been a rough week. ^^
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neven mentally face palmed a thousand times over during his "lecture" from his comrades. Conflicting emotions swirled within him until he finally settled on hopelessness. "Well I guess it can't be helped," he thought to himself, struggling to cope with reality. That was when it was quickly determined who would lead the divided heroes and the directions they were going. Upon hearing this Neven immediately scratched Keoni off his list of desired partners. Neven was not confident at all in his combat ability, nor did he feel like exerting himself anywhere near his limits. (He was armed with a violin for crying out loud.) Not only would a group lead by Keoni be the weakest, albeit only in numbers, they would be delving into the worst part of town. Put simply, that would be a big pile of nope. It was to Neven's delight that some poor soul volunteered to walk with death. Neven mentally held a funeral for the eager warrior and accepted his death as if it had already happened.

Neven immediately turned to the other leaders to be. Even if only for a brief interaction, he had at least conversed with Kirron. Neven pondered teaming with him since he seemed to hold a confident, intelligent, and gentle air about him. Moreover, he seemed nice enough not to completely bash his "disorder", and he would at the very least be aware of the potential drawbacks involving such a ridiculous handicap. Smart, understanding, and confident. Yes, Kirron would make a great leader to carry the load that was Neven.

"But...," Neven whispered, interrupting his own internal thoughts as his eyes cut to the girl named Naomi. On the way here, Neven could see that she quickly established a good rapport with Neven's potential partner. In fact, her relationship with Kirron was cemented to the point that it was practically a given that a team led by Kirron would consist of Naomi. Any other groupings seemed irrational.

"...I suppose I could ask if we could group up. We would probably make a good team...buuuuuuut..." Neven cut through his thoughts once again as Iori rushed to Naomi's side. He could only sigh as he saw the construction of their team take place before his eyes. He could not even be angry since it was his own lackadaisical attitude that prevented him from forming relationships with the rest of his team prior to this moment. Furthermore, the one time he did speak, he uttered something of the utmost absurdity. This thought caused Neven to shudder in embarrassment once more.

"I must have a cruel mind. It seems like my own dream is ignoring me, the dreamer. No, this is exactly how a dream of mine would turn out. Given that I know myself better than anyone, of course I would just wait around until I would be picked last. Yes, that nearly confirms that I am in a dream of my own creation."

Neven turned toward Celes and Emelia. For some reason this entire situation left a bad taste in his mouth, for it seemed like they all rejected each other while also being rejected by everyone else. He knew this was not the intent of the party; nevertheless, he could not help but feel like they were a team of outcasts. "And then there were three," Neven stated sarcastically.

"We're heading west right?" Neven said with a more jovial, yet shaky, voice as he tried to untarnish his image. This was going to be a long journey. If there were ever a good time to wake up, it would be now.
