Phew, that took forever, but I'm finally done... that was what, like 7 drafts to get him just right? xD

What?! You don't even have a character out there, I can hardly be blamed for being similar to yours if I didn't see it :P

I'm just saying. I'm not changing her nickname xD

Her nickname will remain Little Rose

Hmmmm, I think I might have another character in the works as well, kind of a secondary to mess around with, but nonetheless a full character :3

Two character concepts struck me while I was in the shower, but I can only really handle two characters. Grargh! One concept's a Mage in full plate armour, with a zweihander, and a buckler. The other's a crazed scientist and engineer with a multibarrel rifle,a weapon right out of Bloodborne, and a mutagenic chemical fascination.

Which should I rock,if any?

Well, I don't want to steal your thunder, but I think Tristan has the Armored Mage bit down already. Not that we couldn't have more, the merrier, right? But, a crazed scientist might be a unique addition to the group, we don't have anything along those lines yet :3

@Riddle78, honestly, without wanting to be patronising, they both need a bit of work. For your first one, wielding a two-handed sword and a shield, unless he has three arms, ditch the shield.

For numero two, Flintlock is apparently only just a thing on this world if I remember rightly, so a multi-barrelled rifle might be a bit much, especially when it came to reloading the thing (15 seconds per barrel if you're lucky) you'd be very very very open.

There's also the question of what personalities would they have, what would their motivations be, wha's their backgrounds? These are the things you should work out first, not their armaments. Armaments are an addition to your character, they don't actually have any effect on your characters personality and general being.

Conversely, their personalty may effect the weapons they chose to wield. A cruel person may choose to wield a mace so they can give out a lot of pain, an efficient soldier might favour a bow so they can get fights over with quickly without putting any unneeded danger on himself. A poor character might have to settle for a club or dagger as they cannot afford anything outlandish.

So on that note, I suggest rethinking your ideas, and thinking about what type of character you want to play first, and keep in mind the practicalities of your armaments when it coems time to choose them.

Bucklers,as the name implies, can be strapped,or buckled,to the forearm. This was actually a favoured tactic of the Celts and Franks back in the day. Especially for the Celts,so they could keep using their larger weapons. As for the multibarreled rifle,I ran something similar before,in a different RP. Effectively, the weapon is one-of-a-kind,built by the man himself, and is an utterly Byzantine piece of hardware,to the point that six pistols would be more practical. I know how flintlocks work; This weapon will be making generous use of slowmatch.

@Riddle78 Well for one, that's untrue. A quick google will tell you that a Buckler is named from the French bouclier 'shield', from Old French bocle, or boucle meaing 'boss' in reference to a shield boss.

What you are thinking of is a "Targe" a celtic wooden shield (which may, but not always, feature a shield boss) that could be fixed to the forearm. (source: I'm Scottish and know the culture)

Either way, a buckler would be best used with a light blade for fast attacks, which would make the best use of the bucklers small size and light weight. It's a shield muuuuch better suited for a lightly armoured agile character than a fully plated knight wielding a bigger heavier sword. Likewise, a Targe was mostly used with a dagger or a broadsword, which are also not two handed. Check out Basket Hilted Broadsword for info on those.

Multibarraled flintlocks do exist. Early repeates, if you will.
Ahh, true, pepper-box guns I think they were called, maybe? The question is would a pepper-box gun with rifle length barrels be practical enough to lunk around all the time? As far as I know they were mostly restricted to pistol sizes to keep the weight of the barrels down, and they were terrible to aim with because there's nowhere for sights, which meant they were inaccurate and only useful close range really. They were used for self defence more than anything, multiple barrels meant you had more chances to hit the target, much like modern home defence shotguns. More projectiles means higher chance of hitting in the hands of a relatively untrained user.

And there's still the fact that they would need to be reloaded muzzle style, which would take a while. :P

Relevant part bolded for your elucidation.

Like you wouldn't believe. Pump-action,rotary assembly,six-barreled one-inch gun, with full length barrels. The only quality of life feature is the ability to easily remove the rotary assembly,be it for storage,or a one-time quick reload... If he had a second set of barrels, that is. Which he doesn't,because that shit is EXPENSIVE AS FUCK.

I would also suggest clearing anything outside the norm with hex first. I've done that for many of my ideas, I have another I'm gonna bring by her as well.

It's the polite thing to do before one begins pushing out of the norm of things.

Although, I could be wrong in this, logic dictates that something at least has a more advanced understanding before you dive into larger things and, as I've been led to believe, are JUST starting to become a real thing and, unless I'm mixing this up with something else, progress is slow due to magic being a much more used things.

This is why I recommend speaking to Hex about things guys, should clear things with the GM prior to assuming they're possible in this world.

Alrighty :D so, @Hex, what's the setting? I mean, I know what the world looks like and all, but what are some of the goings-on our characters could get involved in? :3
