Character Roster

Items

Most of your characters possessions are items. They are regular objects such as clothes, armor and consumables. Ordinary weapons such as simple swords and guns count as items too. You can have any number of them.

Artifacts

You also get one artifact. They are rare items that can do unusual things. A staff that can cast fireballs. A ring that can teleport you a short distance. A blaster cannon that is really awesome.

The general rule is that what an item can do, an artifact will do better.

Appearance

When a user first boots up the Wish they get to customize their character kind of like in a game. They can choose different gender, height and their entire appearance. The only limitation is that it has to be within human norms.

Some might have an artifact that changes the way they look: A ring that grants you some sort of draining ability but also makes you look like a vampire. Or something that makes you very strong but turns you into an orc.

Combat

Let's keep power levels on the lower side. Think about an adventurer who can maybe defeat one or two orcs in combat, but would be overwhelmed by ten. Being a non-fighter is ok too.

FAQ

Q: What grade of art do you expect? How polished would you want the RP drawings (not CS) to be? Like do you expect clean lineart and/or color(s), or is a b&w sketch fine?
A: The only real rule for that is that we need to be able to understand what is going on. Color and shading are not required! Sketches are fine but try to remove your guidelines (and any shapes that help you draw your poses)

Q: In the Wish, do our characters appear the same as they do in reality? Also is the real world the same as ours(modern) or more advanced/futuristic(flying cars/teleporters/lasers etc)?
A: Most users of the Wish look human. Some might have an artifact that changes the way they look: A glove that turns your hand into tentacle, a headband that gives you cat ears or a helmet that halves your height. Stuff like that.

Q: Any guidelines for weapons/abilities that can be used in Wish? Is magic a thing in the game? Sci-fi mechanics?
A: You can have any number of items - ordinary objects with simple functions (clothes, armor, metal weapons, simple guns etc.). And then you can have one artifact - a special item that can do unusual things like magic and stuff.

Q: Will our characters mainly spend their time on VR throughout the rp or will they also meet irl?
A: Mostly in VR.

Q: Do the VR characters stay in one spot while the people are offline or do they disappear? Is there an afk setting?
A: Characters will remain in the log off location for 6 virtual hours (remember time flows faster in the Wish). User will reappear in the same location once they log in. It is better to live yourself in a relaxed position if you don't want to look funny ^^

  • Valentine is a treasure hunter. The majority of the seven years he's spent in Wish has been dedicated to just that, and he's made himself a bit of a name and a small fortune selling plenty of items and a few artifacts for real-world money. If there's rumors about a new artifact, or a hot item, Valentine will be the first on the trail. Occasionally, someone will hire him to find something for them. His castle houses a small gallery of weapons and such that were to his liking and remain unsold. All of this has been achieved in spite of the slightly aloof, too-good-for-this smug air that he constantly puts off.

Objective:
When she had first entered the Wish, she was incredibly lucky to appear next to an artifact. Little did she now that the item was being guarded.

Ever since then Nuv has been pursued by an organisation of bots that call themselves the Wizards Collective. They believe that the item was unjustly stolen from them and seek to take it back by force.

Appearance:

A girl unwittingly possessing hair so green it makes eyeballs roll. She wears common sci-fi themed armor.

- A set of light armor
- A spare set of casual clothes.
- A loaf of invisible bread and a jar of invisible jam. She bought them from a kind invisible grandpa.

Personality:

She has always looked up to her extroverted childhood friend. The friend has always been the center of attention, always standing up for people around her. Almost like a hero of some fantastic tale. Norah wants to be like that.

Backstory:

You know that quiet kid who always sits at the back of the class without talking to anyone? Norah has always been like that. It is not that she was ever bullied, but she has always been fine on her own. She would sit quietly and read a book between the classes, and afterwards she would continue it at home. Day in day out, she would get lost in the stories of the Westlands and the planet of Dune, then Middlearth and dozens of other worlds.

In middle school, her classmate Ernie once got sent home after getting in a fight with a popular kid. She returned two weeks later as the class's new outcast. The only other person to sit alone at lunch - Norah, was not keen on making friends with anything but a book. But that didn't stop Ernie from pressing on.

Both had something to learn from each other. Ernie's standoffish attitude got cooled down by her new friend while Norah learned to speak her mind a little.

But the friendship didn't last. Over time what little they had in common dissipated. While Norah was busy with her school work Ernie joined a band. Gradually Norah saw her friend less and less. She could feel the friendship slipping away.

Graduation is only months away and they haven't spoken in weeks. Although Norah was fine with being alone before, something in her changed and getting lost in the world of books does make it go away. So she turned to Wishworld.

OBJECTIVE | Escapism. Asher plays to avoid the guilt of his work and make whatever amends he can (even if they’re virtual). He collects items to brew into status buffs and healing objects, and joins missions to act as an aid and take in the sights. He takes his lighthearted persona in game very seriously, determined to not let his work seep in - he’ll log off before he shows any type of frustration or negativity.

PERSONALITY (IN GAME) | His personality in game is vastly different from real life.

UNDERSTANDING - He’s patient and will take the time to listen to and understand his fellow players. If someone fails an objective for the team he’ll be the first one to assure them it’s no big deal.
PACIFIST - If he sees players not getting along, he’ll encourage them to make up and will step in even if it’s not his place to do so.
CALM - In game, he’ll laugh off most situations. While he takes his persona seriously, he tries to not let the game get too heavy.

APPEARANCE | His height is comparable to his real height (6'1"), with long red hair kept to the side by pins and a silver ring. He sports comfortable, practical clothing in earthy tones. His jacket has a high collar and fur rimmed hood, sashed to his artifact. If he's laying low for combat, he will use the hood to cover the color of his hair to decrease the chance of being seen by enemies.

HISTORY | In the real world, Asher’s life lacks imagination. He works for a research company that’s paid off by massive corporations to approve working conditions, regardless of how safe the conditions truly are. It’s his job to fall in line and make sure his peers do the same. It was the monotony of sitting at the same research station every day, knowing all too well that any real discoveries would be swept under the rug - that caused him to buy a headset. He was hired under the pretense of environmental studies, to make the air a little clearer and his neighbor’s quality of life a little better.

Unfortunately, he found out quickly that no company would volunteer to spend more for the safety of their disposable workers. They’d rather sit on their wealth and let everyone else choke. It wasn't unusual to see companies bribing off his work so they could continue low quality air filtration or exposure to chemicals. Every day that Asher goes to work he’s painfully aware of the people he’s causing harm, but can’t leave his job without being out on the streets.

Asher has risen the ranks over time, eventually overseeing his department. Every time he climbs a rank in the company, his guilt grows with it.

PERSONALITY |
APATHETIC - Especially towards the elite, he’s apathetic towards their issues. After all, they’ve never worked a day in their lives, and wouldn’t know the first thing about hardship. He has a forced sense of apathy towards the lower class because it's difficult for him to face the guilt of negatively impacting them.
NEGATIVE - Because it's his job at work, he's always the one to point out the negatives in a situation. He's quick to nit pick and micro manage a situation.

DESCRIPTION | A staff that is powered by items cooked in a flask - the effect of the staff depends on the item fed to the flask.

LIMITATIONS | While it can sometimes give an enemy a negative status effect, it isn't that useful for combat. If it runs out of juice and isn't restocked, then it's simply a normal staff and can be used to poke an enemy in a pinch.
