Girouette
Lizard knight Overlord
"The journey to dreams, a momentous task only taken on by those of great need. For a wish to be granted and the path to be walked. Those who seek it shall find it. But only those who walk the trials shall truly reach their dreams."
SETTING
Galios, a land of peace and relative safety. Where beings of all races live in harmony and peace in the great city of
Kelair (Pictured Below). It is a thriving and bustling hub of trade. And considering it's the only city on the continent, it's where most of the inhabitants live. (Not to say their aren't other settlements and places of life on the continent. Far from it) The world holds many secrets, and not wanting to risk spoiling it as it's the main focus of the RP. I won't go on anymore about the setting.
Kelair is not where our story takes place. But it is where it begins.
The Point
I don't want to spoil anything else about the world, since the main point of the RP is to be discovering and learning about the world. And in that way it will develop as we go about. (Although if your character needs to know certain things not covered here, I'll make sure to fill you in)
Now, in this land, the church is more of a guild and governmental institution, than a religious organization. But they worship a pantheon of gods, from the god of stone to the god of holes, and depending on which god you swear loyalty to influences what sector of society you belong to. I'll list the major ones below so you have a good understanding (Although feel free to make up your own for your character to be pledged to) Anyway, there is a sector of the church dedicated to Dorvis. God of wishes, as well as the god of Travel.
Dorvis has a shrine on the other side of the world, far away from Kelair. And...Well, you might guess. Anybody who travels there gets granted a wish, as payment for the wish, you must appeal to the travel side
From Kelair, the journey can take about a year. But many who have made the trek brag about it's effectiveness. It can be taken up by anyone with a small amount of coin. And all necessitates like food rations and tents are handled by the church. They randomly group people together, as sending one person off could be dangerous. And you may have guessed it, all the characters in this RP are making the journey. by choice or necessity. All in the same group. What will they discover? How will they interact? This is what this RP entails, the journey. This is going to be a very player-influenced RPG style RP.
The gods in Galios are varied and many. With much of life depending on which god you swear loyalty to and if that god accepts your loyalty. Many factors decide if a god accepts you. Avreani, the god of wealth only accepts those with bountiful money, and he only accepts large sums of money as tribute to keep you in his good favor.
Whereas Onoare, god of Honor accepts anybody willing to do honorable deeds for the good of others. And to pay tribute to her, you need only be an honorable person.
Great beasts
The world of Galios, despite it's safety in cities like Kelair, the uninhabited areas of the world are ripe with danger, in the form of beasts and monsters beyond disturbing, generally they are fairly easy to dispatch. But legendary creatures are said to roam the land, with legends abound. Some say slaying these great beasts grants god-like powers, some say it envokes the wrath of the gods. Whether you believe the tales or not. There are large organizations known to go out searching and killing these magnificent creatures. It is also said that the beasts can never be truly killed, no matter how many times their souls are decimated, they will always return to the world eventually.

Calcendus, the God of fire and heat. favored by metalworkers and alchemists. Swearing piety to him is one of the better choices. He can bless one with heat in the severe cold. Or a protective gaze of fire in dire situations.
He accept's anybody as a follower, and tribute to him can be anything made in flame. Cooked food, Smithed metal, even a charred piece of paper is accepted.
He's said to appear as a great fiery beast with the wings of dragons. Punishment for disobeying Calcendus, is a slow and fiery death.
Namar, god of nature, worshiped predominately by gardeners and druids. A peaceful god who's wrath is virtually non-existent, caring for plants and animals and his worshipers alike.
His blessing is one of the green thumb, his followers are much better at growing plants and breeding animals, due to this a certain number of farmers are in his sector, but most prefer the God of harvest for that purpose. He doesn't take any tribute, but is known to favor flowers as a gift. Any followers of his that harm nature without good cause are met with a terrible fate. The only accounts where he harms any living being, and are found in the most strange deaths. Such as a tree growing through them, cut apart by leaves. Etc'
Avreani, the god of Wealth and gold. Said to appear as a great grey wolf, bearing wings of solid gold. Almost all the wealthy business and trader nobles in Kelair are worshippers of Avreani.
He is greedy, and requires tribute of money, or he punishes his follower with a drought of wealth.
His blessing though, is great fortune. He controls the flow of money in the world, and those dedicated to him are met with fortune.
Riding in on her noble steed of night, Onoare, the Goddess of honor. Depicted as a young woman in shining chain mail, riding a horse as black as knight into battle.
She represents honorable acts of humanity, and accepts all as followers, as long as they be honorable folk, and asks nothing in return. Many knights are brought up in the sector of Onoare, and are pledged to honor by her decree. She expects nothing in return.
A follower that acts in a dishonorable way is instantly removed from her grace and faces a life of misery and distrust from then on out.
Her blessing is that of servitude, those in her grace are very often given a chance to help those in need.
She is one of the only god that offers nothing of value to most in return, but those who choose to swear by her always find happiness in honor.
Pagniic, the patron of magic. Depicted as a spectral being of pure magic, hooded to keep its form from causing mortals to perish on sight. Even if a mage is sworn to another god, they are always connected to Pagniic, and without it, would be unable to cast magic at all.
It takes no tribute, and only those born with magical abilities can swear to it, and they don't even have to do that. By default, they are connected. Causing magic to be called 'The Blessing of Pagniic
It is said that the great mage kings of the past called upon Pagniic to aid them in great wars , and it took pity on their corporeal forms, and destroyed the enemy in a single second.
its physical presence has not been spotted for thousands of years though, despite other gods appearing with relative frequency.
Peranus, the exact opposite. And brother (according to legend) Of Pagniic. He is the patron of warriors. Although unlike Pagniic, he must be sworn from to harness his power.
Great warriors and generals are under his jurisdiction. And to swear to him you must be some kind of warrior, with achievements aplenty. He only accepts the best, and once he does, he grants them a weapon to rival the strength of his own. The blessing of Peranus is one to be cherished. And one hard to achieve. He is one of the gods that does not require you to be loyal to him forever, just long enough to receive the blessing.
Mages though cannot receive his blessing, or be sworn to him at all.
Fiaanm, Lord of the beasts, he has (As far as the church is aware) never accepted piety from any human creature, and not much is known about him besides his status as the beast god.
Some question his validity as a god, that he may instead be a legendary beast like the hydra or sky-dragons. But the church continues to keep his sector open. Although it has fallen into decay lately due to neglect and lack of folowers
The God of order, balance, some say even the lord of all creation.
He has never been seen, or spoken to humans, but his existence has never been fought. He is the god to rule all gods, without him, the world would fall into despair and disorder. The sector of the church dedicated him is scarcely populated, only few swear to a god that seems to do nothing, but those few may be rewarded in the end.
Soarelum, god of metal. Most blacksmiths and Metalworkers that aren't pledged to Calcendus Are pledged to him, as the god of metal, he is also known as the unbreakable god. His blessing is that of unyielding defense, his followers claim that in times of great danger his unbreachable wall of defense shall protect you, it is unknown whether this is true or not. His tribute is metal, he has a
been known to have a preference for shields and armor. He also has been known to accept rare gems.
He regularly appears to his followers as a great metal golem, with magma running though his body.
One of the gods that had descended into our mortal world, to claim a place of knowledge and power. Taking form as one of the fierce and powerful dragons.
He claimed an island off the cost, and constructed a keep, that would house all the knowledge of the world. He is the lord of scholars, and allows those who seek knowledge to enter. If they can cross the sea and read him.
Despite his status as a mortal god, he can still grant blessings and be sworn to, most scholars and some mages are of his disciple. He seeks tribute of knowledge he does not know, and blesses with knowledge not many possess
Arzaboi, the Lord of warfare. He can by decree only accept those who have lived or dream of war, he seeks nothing more than mindless battle and war. Which is easy to want when you cannot die.
His blessing is that of the berserker, those who swear to him are given extreme strength and ferocity in deathly situations. A battle between two of his disciples is one to be cherished as a glorious defeat and victory.
Moarvia, god of decay, death, and sacrifice. All who die are greeted by an spectral figure appearing as one of Moarvias servants. Those who perish he sends off to the netherworld, to become a demon or a denizen. Some though...He is the father of the undead, taking pity on poor souls who wished to live, he wavered in his job, and unwittingly set a new race of people to the land of Galious.
Despite this, he has one of the larger sectors of the church, with many from necromancers to noblemen are sworn to him, for his blessing is immortality, in that when you die, you can be be reborn as an undead. This is a lucrative reason to swear to the god of death. He also governs a large part of the mortal world. A country on the opposite side of the planet as Galios. Where it's governed by a cult of Moarvia worshipers, and it is said that a portal to the netherworld exists only in this place. Where Moarvia has chosen to be connected.
Any killing done in Moarvias name is counted as a tribute, but otherwise he doesn't wish anybody to give him heed. Those who disobey him...Well,may plague of Mourvia befall them. A disease that spreads through the community and kills all in it's path.
Otel is the God of the sea and water. Said to roam the seas on the back of mighty serpents. Generally preferred by pirates and sea-men alike. As through his blessing you are proteced from the dangerous beasts of the sea (Most without his blessing do not return from even a quick row less than a mile out to see.) Although that is also granted by certain other sea related gods. He commands the forces of nature in tenfold, and exacts his wrath upon disobedient followers with destruction to rival the plauge of Mourvia, with tsunamis and hurricanes destroying whole countries, uprooting the very ground and people on it. A force to be reckoned with.
Tsarul, the goddess of protection. One of the more minor gods so there's not a lot of legend about her, but her blessing is one of the most sought after.
The blessing of protection to put it simply, protects, your friends, your family, your belonings, whatever you care for most in the world is protected by Tsarul. The exception being Death, of which even an undependable wall must bend to. Nothing can harm or steal whatever it is that is being protected. Not all know of this blessing, setting her status as a minor god. She only accepts those who truly have something worth protecting though.
Ah, Dorivs, where our journey begins and where all journeys end. With dreams. Dorivs is one of the Physically manifested Gods, he is known as the un-moving god, despite his status as god of travel, but travel in the physical realm is not something fitting of his hulking size. No, his travel is through the hearts of his follower, and their dreams. Due to his spot as the god of Dreams and wishes as well.
As you already know, Dorvises blessing is that of journey and wishing, although one may not be had without the other. Those who pledge to Dorvis must make the trek at least once, or be punished by the god of vengeance. (Which is not listed here, for reasons of her being a very very minor god with only a small outhouse sized room dedicated to her in the church)
Apa, the lord of the air, patron of the birds, god of the sky. Often mistaken for the god of light, he is the governer of everything above ground. Appearing as a massive bird-man (Quite a bit larger than a normal one.) He protects the sky from humans interference. Attempts to build an airship failing repeatedly are attributed to His unyielding purification of the sky.
It is said the birdmen where his first disciples that were granted flight, and that in times of trouble, the power of the sky will always favor his sector of the church than others.
Vanaer, god of light, banisher of darknessBringer of justice. The greatest legend of the gods, with the largest sector of the church and the most people pledged to him, he is known at the most glorious of the gods, and the leader according to many texts. It is said he banishes and destroys all evil-doers, the bringer of justice. Those that are under his watchful eye (See, sworn to him.) Are protected from evil.
The majority of...Well, just about anyone is pledged to him, paladins and justice seekers are a major organization of people who worship him.
Curs, the god of luck, well not technically even a god, many who don't have the fortune to swear to other gods pledge to Curs. It is said that those who look toward luck bring luck.
Curs started as a joke, but now almost everyone in the slums of Kelair is pledged to him, whether they believe it or not.
Acasa is to Mystery As Vanaer is to light. He is the embodiment of deceit and treachery. Or simply just mystery, only people who have something to hide are pledged to him. Although politicians and nobles make up a large sum of his population. As he is...Well, pure mystery, not much lore is known. But it is said that in times of great danger, he will appear to warn you, whether you see or understand this sign is...Relative.
Great beasts
The world of Galios, despite it's safety in cities like Kelair, the uninhabited areas of the world are ripe with danger, in the form of beasts and monsters beyond disturbing, generally they are fairly easy to dispatch. Whether you believe the tales or not. There are large organizations known to go out searching and killing these magnificent creatures. It is also said that the beasts can never be truly killed, no matter how many times their souls are decimated, they will always return to the world eventually.
All most be familiar with this fearsome beast. Although in the land of Galios, they aren't as you may think, this giant mass of snake like torsos is a fearsome land beast covered from head to toe in fur, the Necks reaching to almost half a mile each in length. Compared to a normal human it is. To be said, larger than most castles.
It is said that slaying this beast can grant one the power of regeneration, and that 2 have been slayed so far, one by the Great King Eyil, and one by the great dragon-slayer Synra, who is said to have slain most of the creatures on this list. It is a part of the dragon species, and closely related to a similar sea monster. One of the most fearsome beasts on his list, it is said to feed on the weaker great beasts. It possess the ability to heal any wound, except for ones dealt to weak points all over it's body, a more prevalent Achilles heel, if you will, these weak points remain unknown to all but the most learned of scholars, and even then, only a few have been recorded.
Nisarp, great sand serpents said to devour whole mountains. They are a very undocumented species, but are said to be related to the common worm, but with a thicker hide. It is said that even Synra could not defeat it with the power of the other beasts. It posses a massive jaw as wide as it's body (Which to note is believed to be over 20 miles long length wise.) All attempts to kill them have been met with fatalities and survivors heavily wounded.
