The crisis of food was getting pretty bad in the northern parts of Canada. A pack that was large enough to take away 3 caribou per half-day was taking it's toll on the land. Soon it was up to one wolf, that had to leave to find a new place to settle the pack down, no matter how far. It had to be done, the pack wouldn't last much longer until cannibalism took into the pack.
This wolf's name was Appala, and had brown to tan markings all over his fur... He was well build, when he left the pack to find a new place. But take place about 3 to 4 weeks later, and shortage of food for him was really destroying him.. A winter storm was just on the horizon, and he was trying to climb up one of the mountains, to get to the otherside of the mountain range that surrounding his pack. He finally was able to get over it, but was then bombarded by snow drifts, and a complete whiteout. Already cold and miserable, Appala was close to dying just from cold, and hunger. He tried his best to go from tree to tree down the mountain before he fell, and slid 120 feet down the mountain slowing to a stop by the tree. He stood shakingly, almost collapsing then and there, but pressed on for as long as he could. He once again slipped and fell another 50 feet stopping once more by a leveling area on the mountain, but just couldn't get up anymore, The visibility was rising once more, and he was getting even closer to dying.
He tried his best to keep going, but with barely luck as he finally collapsed onto the snow that invited him like a blanket... trying to stay awake, he kept his eyes forced open, taking note of a figure in the distance. He tried barking once, but instead let out a semi-loud whimper instead hoping the figure heard it...
