Whispering Pines Mental Health Retreat

[Hollipop]

Welcome to Whispering Pines, a place to recharge and seek wellness.


Your character has a mental illness, but it had reached its breaking point and they have been sent/checked them self into WP. During their stay there, however long, they will learned coping mechanisms and receive professional guidance to achieve wellness once more.


Each patient will have one roommate, of the same sex. Here is the daily schedule at Whispering Pines.


7:00am: Wake up and get ready for the day


7:30am: Breakfast


8:30am-11:30 am: Individual therapy sessions


12:00pm: Lunch


1:00pm-3:00pm: Enrichment period--art, sports, dance, etc.


3:00pm: Group therapy


4:3opm: Afternoon group activity--a supervised outing, movie in the gathering room, etc.


7:00pm: Dinner


8:00pm: Daily Journaling


9:00pm: Quiet time in the dorm room.


10:00pm: Lights out.

Character Skeleton:


Name- Penelope Marie Cole


Nickname- Poppy


Age (16-20)- 17


Mental Illness and Backstory- Poppy was pushed into modeling at age two by her mother, but she ended up adoring it. As she got older, she became very beautiful but the industry was tough on her. The camera loved her but she grew to despise every photo taken of her. At fifteen a photography mentioned that she looked a little "pudgy" in a photo and it was her final breaking point. She started making herself throw up after every meal that she actually ate. After two years her mother caught her with a toothbrush down her throat and sent her to Whispering Pines to get better.

Hobbies- Modeling, painting


Personality- Most would describe Poppy as a "sweetheart". She gets along with mostly everyone because she doesn't have an ego like a lot of others in the modeling industry. She is often staring into space in deep thought. She's whimsical and a good listener, but doesn't like to talk about herself quite often.


Other Information- She had a pug named Button whom she adores. She hates being called Penelope.

Mental Illness and Backstory- When Abigail was 15 she got into a car accident on her way home from a art show. Her father and mother both perished but for some reason Abigail did not. She made a full recovery and was sent to live at her Aunt's house a month later. Abigail felt extreme survivor's guilt and depression after the accident. A week after moving in with her Aunt she began cutting. A couple weeks after her 16th Birthday she overdosed on pills. Her Aunt found her, took her to the hospital and then checked her into Whispering Pines Mental Health Retreat.

Hobbies- Sketching, Reading, Writing Stories and Poems, Acting


Personality- Abigail was once a very bright and happy child, but after the death of her mother and father her personality darkened. She lost all sense of humour, became extremely gloomy and would no longer talk to anybody. Since coming to Whispering Pines she has started to become happy again, even if the happiness only lasts for a while.


Other Information- Abigail is very clumsy. She always wears a heart necklace that belonged to her mother and a charm bracelet from her parents for her 15th birthday.

Name- Chase Geoffry Sommers


Nickname- Ace


Age (16-20)- 19


Mental Illness and Backstory- His mother had depression and his dad schizophrenia due to his drug problems. Ace always knew that his genes didn't speak well for him and though he had trouble accepting it, he was diagnosed as bipolar at age 13. At fourteen his dad committed suicide. His mother's depression escalated further and she sent him to live with his grandmother because she couldn't handle parenting. She stopped calling and Ace never heard from her since. He started taking a liking to pills, swallowing random ones sometimes instead of the ones he was supposed to take. During a manic episode at 18, he almost got hit by a train lying on the track because he was tripping. It was a hard decision to make, but his grandmother sent him to WP to get his episodes under control.

Hobbies- Writing, sports


Personality- Ace is very resistant to help, which is why he's been at Whispering Pines longer than most patients. In a sick way he enjoys it there. It's an escape from the real world. Normally he is very relaxed, even without drugs. But during episodes he becomes either very hyper or very agitated, sometimes violent.


Other Information- He used to adore riding his motorcycle and he has the constant fear that he'll "forget" how since he's been in the retreat for so long. He has a tattoo on his back dedicated to his father. It is a celtic cross with his dad's initials and 6.30.08, the day he killed himself.

Mental Illness and Backstory- Danny grew up in a picture-perfect kind of family. She hated that; she could never do anything that she wanted, she HAD to do what her parents told her to do, and she had restrictions for everything. When she was 10, she was up late because she couldn't sleep. She walked up to her parents' room, and she couldn't believe what she. Her parents were murdered in bed, slayed, more like it. The bloody foot prints roamed around her home, they killed one of her brothers, and then left. She and her older brother called 911, and then were taken away from their home. Five years later, Danny was diagnosed with PTSD (Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder) no one in her family could take care of her, so she was brought here.

Hobbies- Guitar, violin, viola, cello, gymnastics, dancing


Personality- Danny is athletic, musical, creative, spunky, patient, and understanding. She is always there for her friends and family, and loves getting together with them. Don't let her appearance fool you; Hayden is very tough and adventurous. She does dancing and gymnastics. Danny plays the guitar, violin, cello, and viola; she can also sing a little too. Hayden is a flirt, and knows how to get what she wants, but does it so she's not annoying.


Other Information- Will NOT answer to the name Daniel. Has a husky puppy named Callie

Mental Illness and Backstory- Mia was raised by horrible parents. Her mom was an abusive alcoholic and her dad was a drug addict. Her aunt was usually like a mother to her. Whenever something would happen, Mia would call her aunt and stay at her house until she had to go. With all of this happening, Mia would cut herself and burn herself. She tried to commit suicide five times, and she would get bullied at school which made it worse for her. When her aunt found the cuts and burns, and heard the suicide problems from the police, she signed Mia up to stay at this place.

Hobbies- Sports, singing, writing


Personality- Mia is a total sweetheart. People think otherwise because of the life she grew up with, but she's a total opposite of her parents. She is very friendly and fun.


Other Information- Her grandma used to call her MiMi before she passed away with cancer. She hates when other people call her that except her aunt. She has a wrist tattoo that kind of helped from the cutting but she still does it, and another one on her waist/stomach. Also a scar on her cheek from her mother.

Mental Illness and Backstory- He was abused by his Aunt starting at age 9 and just recently was taken away from her by his mum. He has been self harming since he was 13 and once recently attempted suicide. He has never been popular but a lot of things go to his head and he thinks a lot of people hate him. He suffers major depression.

Personality- John is usually a quiet boy and used to be a rebel until he tried to commit suicide. He will not talk about his past unless you get close to him. He likes to stay to himself but also will go somewher if invited.


Other Information- He used to have a best friend until he freaked out thinking everyone hated him.

Nickname- Alex ( Guy for Alice )

Mental Illness and Backstory- Daniel had a nice home and life at a young age but it went downhill at the age of 8. Robbers broke into his home and held his mother hostage. His father had hid him under the kitchen table. To protect him he made the robbers focus him. His dad grabbed a knife and threw it. The robbers dodged it and threw a vase. It hit his father knocking him unconscious. As his body fell to the floor the robbers tied up his mom and threw her next to him. As the robbers left the house they threw a maltov in and started the fire. All Daniel could do was watch helplessly as the fired burned the house, his dad and mom alive. Firefighters was able to rescue Daniel before the fire. Now Daniel is transferred from a mental hospital to mental hospital winding up at Whispering Pines Mental Hospital. He often acts like an Alice, daydreaming which makes him oblivious to whatever happens to him such as a knife on his hand or walking into walls. Every now and then the thought of the fire causes him to go mad. He would scream and run around banging into walls on purpose yelling its all my fault!.

Age (16-20)- 18


Mental Illness and Backstory- Alex was raised in an orphanage until age 11 when she was adopted by a wealthy family in the UK. Her time in the orphanage was lonely, and she would have many imaginary friends. While most kids get over this part of life, Alex's imaginary people matured along with her. She would speak to them often, carrying entire conversations. Eventually she'd get yelled at by her elders to stop, because they were afraid she'd go mad. She seemed to stop having her friends around. And she did, too. By age 12 they were gone and forgotten. Then, exactly one month before she would turn sixteen, Alex made some bad mistakes. She hung around "bad people", so to speak. She started doing drugs. Her grades dropped, her social life was in ruins. Her parents found a stash in her room. She was sent to America to live with her aunt and uncle and go through rehabilitation because her own parents were too busy to deal with her addiction. Eventually she was rehabilitated, and life seemed great. She was going home the next week. Then one night as she was sitting at her desk, Alex felt as if someone was staring at her. She glanced over her shoulder to see a shadow flit across the room. She rubbed her eyes, and looked again. Nothing. Then a voice sounded in her head. "Hey! It's been a while, hasn't it?" It greeted as if they were old friends. Suddenly a girl about the same age as Alex appeared on her bed with her legs crossed, taking in the scenery. Alex screamed, and ran to her aunt and uncle's room to find that the bed sheets that were once a pristine white now glared at her with a deep crimson color. "Aunt? Uncle?" She called out. "Oh, them." The voice said casually, " We couldn't keep them around. They'd ruin the fun." Over the years Alex was sent to different courts, eventually being declared mentally insane due to voices in her head, seeing various people who aren't there, and multiple personality disorder. Over the years she's grown very attached to her "characters" and has come to think of them as real people. She writes stories about them, and has convinced herself she is a part of their stories. She thinks of herself as a sort of living book character,and is often imagining herself in fantasy scenarios.

Hobbies- Writing, sketching


Personality- Despite her tendency to engross herself with fantasy, Alex does enjoy being around others. She converses mostly with her characters, so she won't often speak to people directly. On the rare occasion she does speak with others, she will frequently get lost on the words and wonder what the person would look like as a elf. She will imagine them as all sorts of things, eventually making herself laugh in the middle of conversations. Often times small details of her personality may change, such as her social behavior or attitude. Dramatic changes indicate that her other personalities may "want a turn".


Other Information- Alex has two alter egos. The first one calls herself Tina, and is the one who often displays the crazy behaviors. The other's name is Marcy. She is the one to be feared. She was there the night Alex's aunt and uncle were murdered. Alex and Tina have done well to keep her locked away. Alex has a necklace given to her by her aunt on her 14th birthday. It is a silver, eagle-shaped locket with garnet eyes. She finds it easier to keep her personality under control while wearing it, and thinks of the eagle as a symbol as never losing sight of who she is. Though even the necklace can't block the voices in Alex's head, or the faint singing of dark songs at night.
