fieldofclover
tis the damn season
now playing: golden - zella day
Having someone to talk to, even if it was just idle chit-chat, was actually kind of nice for once. She barely spent time with anyone outside of the people at the rink and her family, so it was refreshing to have a conversation with someone who wasn't any of them. And it wasn't because she wasn't a nice person, or hated talking to people at all - she just preferred her own company, that's all. Molly stifled a yawn as the girl beside her began to speak once more. She had wore herself out today, that was for sure. "The lodge is really nice, especially if it's your first time visiting. I don't think I've ever actually been inside a room there, but I've heard great things about it." Having lived in Revelstoke all of her life, there was no need for her to book a room at the lodge.
Sometimes she wished that she could be a visitor, looking in through a frosted windowpane. But alas, she was stuck living here, and there was nothing she could do about it. "Yeah, I totally get that. Parties aren't everyone's thing...I mean, it's definitely not mine." Now, if she were more like Mikey, she'd be another party animal. But she wasn't. She was her own person. "I don't really know what else is going on tonight. I was just trying to suggest stuff for you to do since you're visiting." Molly let out a sigh, pinching the space between her nose and her eyebrows. "If I'm being entirely honest here, I'm more in tune with the whole winter sports aspect here. My whole family is. Christmas events, on the other hand...not really my thing. At my house, we give each other a couple of gifts Christmas Day and then avoid each other like the plague for the rest of the time being."
The Hardings weren't as united as they appeared to be from the outside looking in. Molly, of course, knew that, being smack dab in the middle of it all, but everyone who knew the Hardings thought them out to be a sporty, high-achieving family. They seemed like the perfect cookie-cutter household. Molly hated that. She hated the need to be perfect. And as she stood there, an idea started to brew deep within her. "I think I'm going to go to that party tonight."
