Fantasy Where Dreams go to Die

Oh look, an NPC blurb.

The Sentinel

She’s an (ostensibly) kind-hearted and gentle guardian of Etherea who warmly welcomes (most) dreamers to her domain. She commands (some of) the Knights, and keeps the (totally not disintegrating) Veil raised between worlds. The Sentinel often takes the form of a black snake or serpent.

Also, @DJ MagicHat will be in charge of the roleplay's playlist. Yes, the roleplay has a playlist. Yes, you will all be required to contribute to it.

Also if I can make the time for it I may just take everything in the playlist and arrange it in an order that makes sense for people to listen to. Something that tells a story, as it were. Because I do things like that with music.

Feel free to add more than one song for your character(s). I already have. :P

Not with this many people at the beginning, no. Maybe in few weeks, once i get a feel for how we mesh together as a group.

Whoops, I've watched this thread since a long time ago and just realized I haven't post in here yet xD . @welian, count me in! And I call dibs on ruby if it isn't taken. ( :P )

Thank fucking God. Multiple characters would have been a nightmare.

I have run a roleplay with upwards of thirty players and seventy characters, on a website running ancient forum software, where tabbed threads and hosted projects didn't exist.

This

is

nothing.

Yeah, the number of characters shouldn't be a problem. I've been in RP's with about the same number of people and it's turned out fine. What really determines things is the mentality of and type of players we have. Nothing's worse than having thirty players but having nobody interacting with anyone except for their small group of buddies.

Actual rule of mine from a past roleplay:

Just because we’re running the roleplay, doesn’t mean we’re going to hold your hand the entire time. The mods will do their best to make sure everyone is off to a good start but after that, getting your character involved in an active plot thread is your responsibility. If your character ends up doing nothing to the plot and is little more than a background decoration, then it’s on you to change that.

Ahhh this idea sounds absolutely amazing! I would love to join if you'll have me :)

@welian @Mordecai

Thulium?

I googled most useless element

@Elle Joyner Even when you're not running the RP, you're still required to share the pain of "overpopulation"

But I guess you're used to it

Also I find that when an RP is ran by mod(s), people tend to join more

Not sure if it's the trust or just efforts to make mods' life miserable

We'll see. I've already got plans to sort character applications into rounds.

Jeez... I miss one notif and the whole thing blows up on me... I can't imagine what the OOC is going to be like when it actually exists.

Ahaha people can sense a great idea/potential in an RP :) I would take this huge feedback as a compliment

See, that's what I'm worried about too. Sometimes, for these roleplays, I make a Skype group and invite everyone who has Skype so that all the chatter and gifs and silly jokes stay in a chat, while the OOC is used for more serious and important things, like plotting.

Except usually what happens is that people end up using the Skype chat for plotting, and then the people who don't have Skype get upset because now they're out of the loop. >.>

So I'll probably make a Questions tab for this roleplay, where people can post questions and not have them get lost in the sea of OOC spam.

Rounds? How do you plan to sort them?
By chronological order of contact. For example, everyone who displayed interest in this RP before the interest check went up (either because they were in the old RP, or had been helping me) is in Round Zero. Starting with this thread, the first seven people who posted will be in Round One. The next seven will be in Round Two. Anyone who isn't able to present a character by their round's deadline gets moved to the latest round.
