Poppy met Theo's gaze and smiled a little when he told her she didn't have to be sorry. Somehow she felt a little more at ease just looking at him, and being there in his bed. Knowing he was beside her comforted her, and while she knew that was a dangerous thing, she didn't really want to push that away right now, when she really needed it.
As his hand reached out and trailed along her arm to her elbow, Poppy closed her eyes, just enjoying the feeling. It soothed her, in a way, though not enough to block out the claps of thunder overhead, or the occasional flashes of lightning that seemed to penetrate her closed eyelids. His words of affirmation helped as well, and she nodded, not quite able to speak since she was just trying to get through the storm. It didn't seem like it was going to die down any time soon though.
When Theo asked what he could do, she felt inclined to answer, though her answer wasn't exactly something either of them should have wanted to been okay with, given their arrangement. But Poppy wasn't thinking about any of that at the moment. She could only think about how she felt, and how it felt nice to be there with Theo, and how he seemed to be keen on helping her get through this. It was a fear she had wanted to try and get over for years, but to no avail.
So, instead of actually answering Theo, Poppy just inched forward, eyes still closed, till her body was pressed up agains him, her face buried into the crook of his neck. She could faintly hear the sound of his heartbeat, and she allowed it to drown out the sounds of thunder, and the heavy pattering of the rain against the window. Poppy allowed the warmth of his body to calm her even further, and eventually she felt the pace of her heartbeat beginning to slow, going back to normal.
Poppy knew she probably should have said something to acknowledge the fact that she was basically burrowing into him, but she felt too comfortable to want to ruin the moment with words so she just rested there like that, eventually feeling soothed enough to doze off into a deep sleep.
