When Aliens Attack!

((I will just begin ;D. I suppose we will start before the invasion))

Kara watched as the leaves blew on the branches of the tall Maple trees and she contemplated what she was going to do with her life. It was summer, which meant that she had exactly 2 months before she started college at NYU. She was majoring in political science, which also indicated that her grades had to be in good condition before she went ahead with anything. The small framed girl let out a sharp breath as she let herself fall onto the grass that was located in her backyard. Her mom was away for the summer, telling Kara that she need some alone time, whatever that meant.

Sarah was curled up on the couch, scrolling through her Instagram feed. The long haired girl let out an unappealing grunt as her mother rolled her from the couch. "I'm going to your grandmothers, she's sick. I'll be back in a few days. Be safe." She kissed the top of Sarah's head. The girl waved goodbye, standing in the window.

Kaaaaaaraaaa come save me.

She decided to complain to her bestfriend to cure her boredom.

Being that she only a few houses away from her best friend, Sarah, Kara figured it would be best if she made her way over there to hang out for a little while until she had to pick up her little sister from summer school. The small framed girl trudged over to Sarah's house, smiling a little bit as she did this, for she was excited to see her; even though it had only been a few days since their last visit. Upon arriving to her friend's house, Kara adjusted her band graphic t-shirt she was wearing, making sure that she didn't look like a hot mess before Sarah saw her. "Oh Ms. Gorgeous Sarah!" Kara yelled through her door, putting one fist on it, indicating that she was about to bang on it.

"It that my lovely Kara?!" Sarah turned the knob, but waited until Kara banged on it to open it. She fixed the edges of her black Arctic Monkeys tank top and sleeping shorts after she opened the door. Her normally fixed brown hair was tussled and messy. She smiled brightly at her friend, giggling happily. "Come in."

Kara gave her a warm grin and then dove in for a hug. It was nicely to be in the presence of someone she knew, it took her mind off of the amount of pressure she was under because of school. When the small framed girl retreated from the embrace, she let her green eyes scan her friend up and down and then let a laugh escape her lips. "I see you're well prepared for today!" Kara announced, now stepping into the rather large house to get a better feel for her new surroundings. "I suppose you just woke up?" she asked her friend, her mind wandering to other corners of her imagination.

"If I had, I wouldn't have clothes on." Sarah joked, winking at her friend before closing and locking the door. She strode toward the door to her room, which was once a basement. "Don't feel stressed today, okay? You can worry about leaving me later." Sara smiled, the corners of her eyes and her nose crinkled. She downed the steps rather quickly for such a small girl. The light, sea blue walls greeted Sarah with a comfort she'd grown to know from sea life, and the plush white carpet looked softer than ever now that her mother was gone. She shook her mind from the thoughts, letting out a soft, quiet sigh. "Want anything to drink?" The young girl asked, kneeling in front of a black minifridge. "We have those weird juices you like."

Kara followed her friend out of instinct, her mind still trapped in La La Land. She was like a mindless robot for a minute, going through the motions of life like she was programmed to do. Her false reality then shattered when she noticed that she was walking down the steps, sending her back down to Earth with a frown plastered on her face. "I have to be stressed." Kara admitted to her friend, enjoying her room decor. She always remembered Sarah's home as warm and inviting, in contrast to her own which was sad and lonely. "Yes please, Pomegranate if you have it." Kara responded to her female counterpart, flopping herself down on her rather large bed.

Sarah stood and offered Kara the juice, taking her own flavored water and sitting on a bean bag chair near the bed. "No. No stressing!! You have two months until you should be stressed." The girl pouted, blinking her long brunette eyelashes at her friend. "Please please please don't stress right now, at least not today!" She whined, throwing her hands dramatically to her sides, folding her knees underneath her.

Kara allowed her body to sink into her friend's bed, inviting the comfort with open arms. She smiled for a brief moment, tilting the cup of juice back to meet her lips. "What? Are you going to have a party or something tonight?" the small framed girl questioned Sarah, her eyebrow raising in the process. Kara wasn't the party type, she never was. She liked to spend her time doing homework and reading. Maybe that's why people labeled her as the typical loner at school, the only friend she really had was indeed, Sarah; who was the complete opposite of her.

"No. You don't like parties. I just want to spend time with you." She murmured, shrugging. Sarah leaned into the chair, her hair draping her frame and hiding most of her torso. "Mom left again. She used Grandma as an excuse." The girl shrugged again. Ever since her fathers death her mother couldn't stand to be around Sarah, she was the spitting image of her father.
