What's your Character Archtype?

I'll just go right ahead and answer each question in sequence, if you don't mind ( :P )

  • Do you like lighter character or darker ones?

I've noticed, looking through my character base, that I seem to prefer somewhere in the middle. Ambiguous morality, not quite good but not quite bad either. One character in particular springs to mind, who is considered a villain in her universe, but in reality she's a barrier holding back an even bigger threat. Her actions put a bounty on her head, sure, but the person she's holding back would do

far

worse than she does, given the chance.

  • What kind of stories do you give them?

I tend towards sad backstories. Usually with their happy life being yanked away from them, or their whole life being completely miserable up until the point of the RP. In the end, though, I love to have them work through their problems and resolve them in the end, giving them a happy ending if at all possible. Basically, my stories are the "Earn your Happy Ending" type.

  • What kind of feel do you want to portray with them?

This is kind of difficult for me to explain in general terms, because of course it varies greatly with the character. So I'm going to refer to a specific character whose feeling I like portraying the most. This character is fighting against her own sister, because she's turned evil due to some unfortunate events and irresponsibility on her own part, as well as clever manipulation from the sister's new friends. However, she doesn't give up; She'll never give up, because she's convinced that somehow, someway, she'll find a way to get through to her. And this conflict has been going on for at least 2, 3, maybe even 4 years depending on the setting.

That's the feeling I most enjoy conveying. The knowledge that even though everything seems hopeless, that there's no way to achieve her goal, and the fact that she has to

battle

with

her own sister

, for

several years

on end, the girl still pushes forward. Because she's never given up, and never, ever will. She's simply too determined to return things back to the way they were and, especially, earn forgiveness and friendship from both her sister and herself.

  • And most importantly... why?

I find this setup to be the most enjoyable for me, really. Having a grim and depressing beginning, a rough path through the story, and many joyful tears at the end of it all will

always

be my favorite kind of story. And if you've ever played and finished The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Yeah, I know that kind of comes out of nowhere, but it really is the best example of the kind of story I

love

, and would gladly read/play over and over again.

Anyway, I kind of rambled on a bit, especially in the feelings portrayal question

xD Sorry about that. But that's my answer. And really, I don't believe it's going to change at all in the foreseeable future.

I love playing the tragic heroes, the misunderstood villains, the justified twisted minds and those ever-charming smooth talkers.
we strive to save the world against overwhelming odds and although we may or may not win, the world remains in threat or under some element of danger.

Why do we do it. To show people that there are people out there who Strive for righteousness and justice in a world of perverts and sloths.

I think the big thing here, that no one said is:

I like characters who are NOT OVERPOWERED, but are typically confident and are sensible enough to not confront an unbeatable foe.

I do not Mary-sue. But I can play one fine.

(*personal note. I do not like lazy, disrespectful, negligent, neglectful, drug addict, perverts, short sighted, narrow sighted, or basically selfish individuals** { and I show that in all my RP champions. [ by trying to demonstrate good hearted Wisdom wherever possible in the text] )

What kind of character archetype do you like to play?

My absolute favorite character archetype are the quiet, yet deadly ones. They don't say much, but something about them screams out that they could harm you in the most dangerous ways. What I've found is that I enjoy playing such characters seeing as they just seem to be the people that are just shy and cute. I turn that character around from the cuteness they see, and BAM! Uh....not so cute anymore.

There are more than one types of characters I like to play: the guy that appears to be rude at first, then is softer and gentler over time, the girl that is so innocent that she is protected from everything, observant people who seem not to care about what is going on but is paying careful attention, the ones that are too curious for their own good.

In all honesty, I don't think I can say that I haven't tried every kind of character I know. I just tend to stick with quiet and deadly. I enjoy playing all of my different archetypes though. ^^

Do you like lighter character or darker ones?

That depends on the rp I am in. If the plot is more of a dark doomsday thing, then I'll make a darker character. Sometimes, but some characters I have made for those are lighter. For lighter plots I make lighter characters. I don't think I lean to either side. In my opinion, they are both fun to play.

What kind of stories do you give them?

Mostly ones that are tragic in some way. Losses of parents, car crashes, different abuse stories. They all have parents that are either dead and gone or just...don't love them. The thing they mostly hold in common is that they don't understand love. They are stronger, though, due to the fact that they have gone through so much and that is what I aim for. I find that I don't like to play physically strong characters, but the ones that have a strong spirit and will.

What kind of feel do you want to portray with them?

I....don't know what that means. o-o I honestly don't know how to answer that...

And most importantly... why?

Um.....probably because I like to try and inspire people and with different characters you can do so. I honestly have no clue. I guess probably because these characters may be overlooked and I like to bring them to the spotlight. I don't think that's it though. I guess it has to do with the fact that I find them entertaining to write and to interact with.

Ever since I started role playing I have been in love with the idea of the Innocent Hero, having role played for around 6 years and maybe even more I have had the chance to experiment with almost all the archetypes out there but the innocent hero is the one that I find the most interesting mostly because of how malleable it is.

It really depends on how I'm feeling but I generally like lighter characters. I have a feeling that darker characters tends to have an already developed idea of what's around them and have a solid opinion of the world they live in and the reality they were dealt whether they try to deal with it by ignoring it completely and facing it and looking at the devil straight into it's eyes.

I generally like Lighter characters because they tend to have a pretty basic idea of the world. Nothing too confusing and nothing too developed and watch them as they learn and grow and change is what turns a light character into something else entirely.

Here's where it gets interesting, giving those heroes a story and how to evolve around it. Generally an adventure into the real world even if the setting is in a fantasy land. Make them question their resolve. Why do I want to do this? Why do I want to protect them? Who do I want to get rid of? Do I even want to hurt someone to attain peace? I like to test their resolve and watch them stay in the light or fall into a darker place. It makes for an interesting outcome.

What kind of feeling would I want to portray with them? I guess that's something more personal for me. I've always admired heroes. Ever since I was a kid I was crazy over any kind of hero and I guess wanting to know how they carried on after such painful lives and tales is what I would like to portray.

And most importantly... why?

Why? Because hope is the last thing you lose.
