Do you ever see an interest check for an RP with an enticing plot and then just not want to join because of how the thread is presented? Why is it affecting me so much?

All the time! Well, not all the time... but yeah, I get what you mean. It's like, great idea... but the way they handle it makes it seem like it will be a cluster fuck of an RP when/if it gets started. If you can't organize an RT, how can you hope to organize a group?Do you ever see an interest check for an RP with an enticing plot and then just not want to join because of how the thread is presented? Why is it affecting me so much?

glad I'm not the only one that hates thatYes. Normally because of the BBCode. I'm not spending twenty minutes figuring out how to scroll through a tiny box and read peach on white text no matter how good the premise is.
Thank christ i am not alone in this, its really annoyingglad I'm not the only one that hates that
i think it's just ppl showing off that they know how to code. Because honestly, it doesn't even make it more appealing or even better organized. Just a geek flex.Thank christ i am not alone in this, its really annoying
I don't care if it for "Aesthetics", it hard a hell to read, what do you not understand about that.
You are a geek flex, you Warhammer nerd lord.i think it's just ppl showing off that they know how to code. Because honestly, it doesn't even make it more appealing or even better organized. Just a geek flex.

Yeah that is probably what they are doing, but most of the time I see it as they are doing it for Aesthetic
All this talk about coding makes me think of someone I shortly corresponded with on recommendation for a commission. It was clear looking at their pages they would not stop with the micro font. They would type really small as they could to the point you couldn't see it on some screens.
If asked to stop and type normal they would get offended no matter the reason. Even if it was for valid reasons of not being able to read without zooming in and scrolling back and forth or even the person's device not having a zoom function. It was a personal offence against their 'thing' if you asked them to type normal. On the site changing font was a matter of typing stuff like before and after what you were writing. So it wasn't like they were asking them change their setting just for them. Just stop adding the directions. And naturally on their page they had rants of being ignored on RPs, commissions, and general no replies to her comments on people's stuff. Sorry I like to actually talk to people I commission to do work for money. I decided to do business with someone that doesn't expect me to zoom in 400x to read the response to a question.
And the only real reason was it was for their style and uniqueness.
...when the group you are in suddenly has the GM drop out and disappear without any notice, and everyone is left trying to scramble and figure out what to do.
This is just proof that communication is essential for a healthy RP enviornment. This is a rotten thing for someone to do. If you gather up a group of people who are taking the time to write for your story and they care about it and want it to succeed, and you ditch the server without saying anything... That's just so damn disrespectful.
we have Discord OOC set up for the group. Most of us communicate alright there. But I had to really poke and prod to eventually get a response as to why they left. I then communicated it back to the group. We are currently in GM limbo... sorta. One of the group might undertake the task. But none of us had wanted to do it, initially. Either way, total pain in the ass, as we will now be starting over and all the narrative put forth by everyone is going to be scratched with whatever new plot comes in. (Personally, it took a lot of steam out of my enthusiasm to continue with the RP)This is just proof that communication is essential for a healthy RP enviornment.
There are better RPGs.Dungeons and Dragons becoming popular.
Okay, fair. I like D&D too, just not as much as other systems. No I like D&D I just think its rise in popularity fucked with the para.rp community in a subtle but noticable way over the years.
Hence why it's a dumb mechanic in the first place. Just give your character a personality (on or off paper) and do your thing. No need to stick a label on it.Well even people who play D&D use character alignment wrong. So like. Yeah. Agreed! >D
Okay, yeah, alignments are definitely unhelpful and only exist to cause arbitrary character conflicts right out the gate.SP3CT3R AnnJam
On a related note, I hate how a whole buncha RPs are now using elements from D&D like character alignment. I've never cared for it, and find it extremely boxed in.
Also, the D&D classes have become the meta for a lot of settings, kind of like the same way everyone likes to just use Tolkien races as the standard. Nothing against Tolkien, I loved the Hobbit book. But I wish we had a less focus on Elves and Dwarves as his vision.
Ugh... y'know I had made a character for a Media Transmigration idea several years ago. Then I come to find out that the weebs have basically turned the sub-genre into a joke.Okay, yeah, alignments are definitely unhelpful and only exist to cause arbitrary character conflicts right out the gate.
As for the part about classes, I feel like the anime crowd is responsible for that, now that the industry's been overtaken by isekai comedies.
I'm used to saying isekai, but yeah, the genre's been torn to shreds at this point. At least Disney's doing a decent job of breathing some life into it on this hemisphere.Ugh... y'know I had made a character for a Media Transmigration idea several years ago. Yes, I'm still calling it Media Transmigration. Because that's what it was before they started calling it Isekai.
You mean the Jumanjii movies?I'm used to saying isekai, but yeah, the genre's been torn to shreds at this point. At least Disney's doing a decent job of breathing some life into it on this hemisphere.
The cartoons. Specifically Amphibia. You mean the Jumanjii movies?
