Experiences Whats making you angry today? Rp pet peeves

It annoys me when people insist on only playing one or two types of characters. I feel like part of being a good writer is the ability to expand to many different character types depending on what the story needs.

What is ABO?
Alpha Beta Omega. It's a fandom banned on this site do to NSFW and just to let people here know a mod actually stopped discussion of it all together on another thread.

What is ABO?
"The Omegaverse is an alternate universe following the hierarchy of wolves. That is to say, the alpha, beta, and omega. This system is what also gives it the name "omegaverse" as well as the short term A/B/O."

Let it be noted the WOLF HIERARCHY idea is based on debunked research. Also it is a trope that deals in various kinks I can not name without risking getting in trouble. So if you go into it know it's very filthy! But it totally can be done SFW its just not known for being SFW.

I would say it is 100% an adult trope and shouldn't be done by kids. And by adult I mean theming is very mature in general, not sexual, but not something that handle themes appropriate for kiddos!

Sounds like it's getting into masterxslave type stuff and that is just yikes. I don't have many limits on what I will write, but things like masterxslave, teacherxstudent, bossxemployee, etc. make me super uncomfortable due to the power imbalance.

Edit: I will play slave characters, but anything romantic will be between another slave or a compassionate free person who is not tied to their master in any way.

Which I understand is not for everyone, ABO is weird and it can get uncomfortable for many. I would never expect anyone who wasn't into it to roleplay it.

I'm just defending that it doesn't have to be sexual. Though I know it is known for it.

True art stirs a feeling of uncomforting thoughts that make us re evaluate who we are. You see this in horror all the time. I actually had to do some research into the ABO but I mean it didn't deter me. It most certainly could be a story genre that does not have sexual aspects to it. In my observation the uncomforted is more derived by a lack of gender or social norms. Though, I mean nothing extremely grotesque. At least the general concept. I mean the slavery aspect and system is a bit weird. Though casts systems are very common in many cultures.

So, to attribute to this thread I'm going to say that when others are quick to judge without research. That can make me angry sometimes.

People who like to complain about people who don't want any turmoil or bad things to happen while they are unbearable for taking it way too far the other way.

I don't like the 'Snowflake' Rpers who literally want everything to be sugary and sweet to the point nothing happens in the RP. But at the same time someone that literally wants things so dark it's just torture porn or they simply can't let anything good happen, or their to EVER be a win, don't make a good story either. Their is no point to continue a story once you realize your partner is simply the type to make cooking breakfast turn into a funeral.

Just thought I'd add that the breakfast to a funeral is just a SIMS induced on running joke for bad things my friends have. That didn't actually happen in an RP I was doing. Though a few things close to being equivalent. Some people just need to learn some freaking balance in story.

I don't like when there's a massive difference in strength between characters.

Trying to balance an rp encounter so that all characters can be of use is hard enough as it is without half the characters been able to destroy a smaller village with a sneeze while the other half is "above average at throwing axes".

DBZ would be a really boring anime if you did that!

Ahh, I think my current pet-peeve would be, like many others apparently, people limiting themselves to one type of plot or character. It's good to experiment; good for your partner and to just improve on skills.

It's not making me angry per se, but it does suck to have muse but nothing to actually reply to. I'm caught up in all my RP's.

A lot of roleplayers get sick of this on so many levels.

No point for a battle rule list when someone just 1 hit ko the boss of the dungeon.

What is the point of anything if one person shoves everything aside to show how much better their character is.

Person tends to be annoying ooc

They usually don't even care about storylines for other characters. It's all about there precious oc.

Times 10 on throw them to the curb if they immediately complain about others being op after all their bs.

IMO this stuff should be sorted out by the GM at the character creation process. If it isn't then that RP is going to be a shitshow.

Be me.

Spend the whole day building the set up for a supernatural RP set in a specific historical period, complete with numerous suggestions for the types of characters one might find in such a setting.

See the first character sheet submission.

*insert anachronistic modern anime face claim and character that makes no sense in the setting*

Have to figure out how to kindly suggest to a person who clearly barely read any of the exhaustive background information you provided that basically everything about their character needs to change.

Weep.

I really don't like being picky or exclusionary when this site is all about people having fun, but sometimes it's really frustrating when people clearly just want to insert a character they like into any RP even if it's totally immersion breaking.

Think about it like this: if that character does join then it won't be fun for you or the other players. Sometimes you have to say no.

My natural desire to include people makes that a challenge. I like to give folks a chance to adjust, but sometimes the writing is just on the wall.

Sounds like the worst. Anime FC's in anything non-animated really breaks the immersion for me.

The thing that makes me angry today is that my brother isn’t talking to me and I feel like I did something wrong but I have nothing to go on...

don’t think of it as excluding people, think of it in terms of “Will this person actually enjoy the roleplay? They won’t fit in and are undoubtly going to make enemies of the other players. All in all I am doing them a favor by pointing them in the direction of something else.”

When I first started out I was exactly this kind of person and I was told no multiple times. Yeah it hurt for a few minutes but in the long run it allowed me to find places where I actually fit and could really enjoy myself. If I had been allowed in I would have had a far worse time being pactracized by everyone else. (Had experiences with being the odd person out in role plays and those were far worse than the momentary sting of not making the cut in the application process).

I don't usually have a preference, per say, as long as the face claim makes sense for the tone and backstory of the RP, but sometimes I'm really left scratching my head.
