Experiences ✶ what were your guys first roleplays? <3

Oh my god this is embarrassing and bad but my first ever roleplay was probably on the early days of Instagram. I was a little kid who loved Super Mario so I found a group and we roleplayed as various Mario characters, specifically the Koopalings. So yea, I got my start roleplaying one liners with a bunch of other kids on Instagram of all people.

Hi!

Texting with my buds. Back in the day we would change contact names and group text stupid things and soon enough we started to pretend to be kinda like dumb little pokemon charries. We'd battle each other but soon enough it devolved into smutty toilet humour cuz degenerate skater kids lol

my first ever roleplay was at like... age 11? in around middle school maybe?– i vaguely remember roleplaying undertale on an app called "Wolf Online" it was one of those weird survival wolf or dinosaur games i downloaded on my aunt's ipad at the time... (;゚∇゚)

i also know that i roleplayed on Animal Jam and this one app called Amino. i was totally all into roleplaying warrior cats, percy jackson, mlp, pokemon.. back then. i have dabbled in aniroleplay with my own characters around 2016 to mid 2019? i have zero clue.

oh dear. id have to say the extremely old style neopets boards before the revamp. the ancient fossil of a bbs system that didn't bump up topics when new responses were posted. i believe it was an era where there was like a cliche subset of people named 'annoyers'? they weren't quite rp'rs, but not quite ooc either. it was an odd time long long ago.

after that i drifted around the usual gaia, back when your post length and such was denoted by semi-lit/lit/adv-lit ect, and then tumblr with various extended breaks from rp in general for several years and now.. i'm here. have no memory of just how i got here though. ha.

a high school role play on the neopet boards.

i was so nervous.

at the time, I was like 10. fresh to the internet world. and I remember looking into the rp forum and there was this top thread that was like: guidelines and rules on how to rp

and the person who made that thread had a webpage dedicated to rping terms, rules and know-hows. i remember it reading it two, three, even four times. then I remember reading a lot of threads to get a feel for how it was done, and I though: ok, high school seems easy. i go to school. im 10 but I go to school.

so I joined as a freshmen goth girl who sat under the tree and played guitar. her name was like raven or something.

good times.

My first RP was on Chess.com’s Off-Topic section lmao
It was a group Freeform where it started raining forever. The rain was also deadly, for some reason. So, the characters were all stuck in the same roof.

My first rp was- also on Chess.com- for some reason, the first rp I was actually involved in (cus 1000 miles (another rp) died (inactive)) was- also Rainy Forever (the rp where it was raining forever), too. =P

My first official RP was in 2004. It was called Defias Lineage, and I played a blind vampire named Sky.

Back then I was nothing more than a one-lining buffoon who had no idea how to capture a setting. It was definitely some of the most fun I ever had though. It seemed that the years following would see the RP world become far more serious than it needed to be, so I always harkened back to the first few years where things were simple (and fun).

I'm not sure if it was my first, but it's the earliest one that I remember! It was on an old XMB site that no longer exists. It was Harry Potter, and we were both using original characters. This one stands out to me from that website because it lasted for several years. We literally went through their fourth, fifth, and I think even sixth year at Hogwarts! Hadn't intended romance, but it ended up going that way as the characters developed. It was thousands of pages long, and I really think that if the site hadn't shut down it would still be going. I never even "knew" my RP partner. She never talked to me OOC (except in the initial plotting stages), but I could disappear for three months and come back to post... and she'd be there to reply. I was impressed. I still think about her and wonder how she's doing.

This was like the mid 2000's to early 2010's.
