The pain in his head was infuriating. Ever since the public announcement, that girl's voice was repeatedly surfing through his thoughts like a broken record player. It'd skip through all the people he didn't know while emphasizing those he did. Claire, Savannah, Juno, and a few others he'd become acquainted with floated through his mind with each stroke of the arm. The water did nothing to cool his head and calm his pounding chest which was even more annoying because swimming was always the one thing that calmed the Spanish teen down. Beckett could swim for hours and not even realize he'd become a shriveled up raisin and that his skin was more sensitive than a baby's bottom. Although he couldn't take his mind off of what happened earlier, he was distracted enough that he'd failed to notice a small female sitting at the water's edge.
With a few long strokes, Beckett had gracefully swam his way over to Claire. He could clearly tell she was troubled by the event, a slight pinch in his chest at the thought of his best friend hurting but what hurt him more was that he might not have been the greatest friend. There would honestly be nothing he could say about her situation that would make things better. Of course he'd notice slight changes in her physique but their friendship was still delicate since they'd only recently rekindled. If he had said something, would she have listened or would their relationship further be tainted? The thoughts swirled in his head as he lifted his body onto the cold, hard ground, water falling off his smooth skin and dripping within his radius.
"Hi, Claire Bear." Beckett spoke quietly, reaching behind him to grab a towel and dry himself off a bit. "So this morning was interesting. Senior prank, maybe?" He chose to ignore the fact that they both knew it was all too real, preferring to keep things light and happy like he was so used to doing. After a moment of silence, however, the guilt he felt became so overbearing that he couldn't help but grip the scars he'd left on his own body. "Do you think Juno hates me even more now?" He silently muttered as he lazily kicked at the water. Beckett didn't say anything else after that. All he could do was sit and wait for time to pass.
