Anime & Manga What was the first anime that you ever watched?

Yeah oAo A lot of it was also before I really knew what 'anime' was x'D They were all just cartoons (though technically, they are just cartoons, just that one's a Japanese style x'D )
The more I think the more I also think that maybe Sakura, Card Captors, or Sailor Moon were on there, too ouo;;

... Anime actually seemed to be on quite frequently in the past. Now-a-days I only know about some big-nameish ones coming up ono... Being broadcasted in the US, that is.
Yeah i was the same way. Watching them before actually knowing they were anime or what that was.

I think I saw a few others from the 90's and/or early 2000's era like maybe sailor moon and that girl with the broom and cat or something, I think it was a anime movie and the girl had dark hair and wore a dress or something, xD I don't remember at all the one I am attempting to describe but remember seeing it.

Yeah, I miss those days. So much awesome cartoons all the time and now it's only a select few and none of the older ones, just the big name ones of today. Cartoons have really gone down hill too these days seeing the ones my nieces and nephew watch or are in there era is shameful compared to the old days, atleast for the ones outside of the anime.

The first cartoon I watched that I reckon I can count as "anime" would have been Mobile Suit Gundam, Ronin Warriors and Cowboy Bebop.

Rurouni Kenshin. A.K.A Samurai X. That was before Animax even existed and before subtitles were born, yo! xD

Ah, Kiki's Delivery Service? Studio Ghibli film~ I've never actually watched that one in full yet x'D
sadly

it's a shame, really x'D Now-a-days people kinda just depend on silly/stupid humor with no real meaning behind it. Lots of things seen as taboo these days, too. Sure, one or two do indeed stick out, but x'D those are few and far between. I don't really remember any shows being boring back in the day...

Ah, how time changes.

Ah yes that was the name. I can't remember watching it all the way through but saw a fair amount of the film. For some reason I was getting pippi longstocking and Sabrina mixed together in my head and tried to figure it out that way. Haha oh I was off close with it having a k but so far off. xD

Yeah, I remember dexters laboratory and that show with superheroes cartoon on boomerang being a main watch growing up and now it's so different these days. I don't remember that either, all were pretty good. Static shock, Xiolon warriors, Jackie chans cartoon so many good ones back then. Plus all the anime there was playing back then.

Very true

Sailor Moon all the way.

I was a 90s baby and I was pretty obssessed with the show. Couldn't tell you more than the basics now of course. My memory is fading with age (>u>)

But I remember being a big fan and pretending to be Ami a lot. Ya'll it was embarrassing how much I wanted to be Sailor Mercury when I grew up. Like she was my Teenage Role Model.

In all honesty I was probably more like Usagi. Without the cool magical powers - but with probably equally as understanding friends.

Hey, I don't know if this had already been done, but what was the first anime you ever watched?
The first anime I ever watched was Death Note.

In my early childhood (age 6 or so), back when I was still living in China, I came upon some CDs of a cheap Chinese dub for Digimon in some roadside cracked CD store. I have vivid memories of that being my favorite childhood cartoon ever;and I suppose that's my first anime ever, though I didn't even know the term "anime" at the time, rather just considering it to be another typical animation (and I suppose there really is no difference, besides the general style of the series). Japanese animations were quite common in China after all.

After that, I took a hiatus from anime for quite awhile until around age 12, when I came upon a subbed version of Fairy Tale in the U.S., the means by which I have completely forgotten. I've continued enjoying anime since then.

Angel beats was the first thing I watched that I considered a Anime. I then moved on to other anime shows like Negima, H.O.T.D., and Rosario + Vamprie.

Inuyasha. I just happened to be sitting by my brother when he was watching it on AS. Of course, I was young and thought I understood it. I had to go back and rewatch it a few years later. Wasn't as great as I remembered it, but the nostalgia had blinded me with endless praise for the show.

Mine was also Inuyasha, an online friend of mine sent me a clip for it and I loved it.

The first anime I watched was Denpa Onna to Seishun... which is about a boy going to live with his aunt (I believe, I haven't watched it in awhle). He then meets this alien girl who is also his cousin and... I dunno. But what I can never forget about that anime is how cute Erio Touwa sounds when she says "cousin" in Japanese.

AHHHHH (<3)

Mine was The Big O. Great show. Lots of great shows in Toonami's early years. Oh the nostalgia for that giant robot.

I'm 95% sure that it was Nausicaa which is still one of my all time favorite movies (along with most of Miyazaki).

I'm not going to count Pokemon. Just no. The first proper Anime I watched was Death Note, which I started/finished early last year. It was the one that really introduced me to the Anime world. (And I'm still horribly in love with it.)

Well... I have no idea. To be honest I have no clue. Wow its been so long.
