This is what your character was doing before the civil war started and how they got recruited into their respective group. Go into as much detail about their experiences during the war as possible. That goes doubly for people who weren't fighters.

Outlook: Are they optimistic about the peace lasting or are they gearing up for when it breaks out again?
Plans: What are they going to do now that war is over? Will they go back to school, start a new business etc.

Personality: INFP - The Mediator - driven by values, easily overwhelmed

Appearance: Pale skin, shaggy sand-brown hair, has a tendency to wear clothes too large for him, with a preference for baggy khakis and wrinkled shortsleeve dress shirts.

Name of Militia: US Army, unnamed brigade stationed on the Idaho-Oregon border.
Description: A sorry attempt of holding the country together, but it worked, I guess.
Goal: Protecting the Union.
Allies: No one.
Enemies: Everyone.
Criminal Status: Kidnapping and forced conscription.
Active Status: Still fighting rebels.
Current Ties: None (Deserter)

Backstory: When the country began to fall apart, the central government called for a draft (In reality a desperate general practically kidnapped and conscripted a large portion of the Oregonian countryside without government approval), and Benjamin Wilde was one of those who were "drafted." However, he wanted no part in the war, and about three months into his service, he abandoned his post and fled across the Canadian border. He was able to secure lodging in a remote town in Saskatchewan, and worked for the local grocery store, supplementing his income by cutting firewood and selling crafts. He became rather well known in the area as a local woodcarver, however, under the alias of Sammy Wickersham. After the war was over, he travelled back to the US, and visited his hometown in the UP of Michigan, to find his town burned, and his family and friends all dead. Now he wanders.

Outlook: Dead inside, and sure humanity will destroy itself sometime soon.

Plans: Who knows? Wander the country trying to find somewhere to be? It's not like he has a true home anymore.

Appearance: Long dark hair with a large figure(no designated height/wright as of this moment), hazel eyes, naturally muscular but hasn't worked his body to its fullest potential.
Personality: Though he has a relatively large stature fighting was never in his intrest he was always quiet, reserved, and thoughtful prefering a life a study and order rather than drama and violence. Myers Briggs Personality: Mediator (not bothering with letters and this was posted/inspired by Doge's post), Dislikes some of the aspecs of his faction specifically the "big brother" aspecs but decided they were the US's best choice.

Faction/Militia: The American Humanist Society (A faction largely similair to the original US before the civil war but more socialist, semi "big brother" communist, focused and the goal of creating a more ideal society for all but they are potentially a little too zealous about it)
Allies: Any faction largely based on socialist/communist ideals
Enemies: Factions going against socialist ideals(left these 2 sections vauge as I dont want to make a spheal of factions and such as it may interefere with, the DM of sorts, plans)
Criminal Status: None
Faction Activity: Alive and fighting well for the first 2 years or so but maintaining their idealistical society was hard on resources and manpower and began to crumble slowly afterward
Current Ties: Achieved rank of First Sergeant in the medical field for TAHS so has some connections with those who also served.
Background: Grew up a relatively easy life though money was not always available(potentially one of the reasons driving him towards a socialist society) went to school got relatively good grades and graduated High School with honors went to med school and college for a MD(Medical Degree) and became a physcian but not long after the civil war started and believed he was called to help the soldiers on the field.
Future Plans: Following his faction ideas of creating a better world using his medical knowledge wandering around to help those devastated by the war.

WHOOO BOY that was a creative downpour never wrote so much if not for an essay hope no conflicts arise in this like Doge's unrealistic draft.

backstory he was born in the sate of new mexico to drug addict parants they died when he was 5 and started living on the street then he got his first taste of cocaine when he was 6 and has been violent ever since has a middle school education is from was arrested 20 times by the age of 12 for assault ,drug possession and robbery he was sentenced for for 50 years in prison and he was in prison for 3 years before the then the war started there were multiple anarcists in the prision when he heard that there was a socioty aginst the goverment in the civil war everybody in the prison escaped becasue the guards joined some faction of the war then he joined the anonymous anarchists he was a drug smuggler for them nad he was shot at multipletimes he has no use of his left arm he was then arrested in mexico and put in prison for 5 years then after his sentence was served it was only 3 years untill the end of the war so helped put some bombsin major cities

Appearance: He stands at 5’11, with dark brown hair and eyes. He aimed to reflect the heroes of his adopted motherland, the commissars of Russia. He adopted many traits that he thinks Russian, like a thick beard and a mustache similar to that of Stalin.

Personality: Wilhelm is passionate about his cause and very dedicated to the cause he serves, but is not willing to commit war crimes on a scale that he helped commit in St. Louis. He views himself as a mere instrument of the revolution and if needed, will throw away his own life for the glory of the revolution.



Name of Militia: The Sons of the West

Brief Description: A militia based in Missouri, notorious for burning down half of St. Louis in a wave of looting, murder, and rape.

Goal of the Group: To Preserve the Union, officially. But in reality, they just wanted an excuse to destroy and pillage.

Allies of the Group: No one

Enemies of the Group: Everyone

Criminal Status: Yes, thousands were butchered and hundreds of homes looted and burnt.

Active Status: No, the Sons was utterly destroyed after being lured into a trap by a rival militia.

Current Ties: No, almost the entire militia was wiped out in the battle mentioned above.



Name of Militia: United Communes of America

Brief Description: A Marxist-influenced militia aimed at rebuilding the United States for the people and workers.

Goal of the Group: To rebuild the United States in the form of a socialist utopia.

Allies of the Group: Many smaller leftist groups with similar, if not identical, goals and beliefs. Overseas socialist revolutionary groups seeking to aid their American brothers.

Enemies of the Group: Government, if it remains. Right-wing militias are also an enemy.

Criminal Status: Yes. It rounded up former government officials and members of the army and had them shot for "resisting the will of the people".

Active Status: Yes, it has a sizable amount of members in the hard-hit regions of New England and the Rust Belt, and smaller memberships in the poorer regions of the west. However, they are lying low, only striking when the best opportunity presents itself.

Current Ties: Yes, Wilhelm was heavily influenced by the revolution and remains a firm believer in their cause.



Background: The son of a retired Dutch soldier and a Russian doctor, Wilhelm was raised in a relatively left-wing family just outside of St. Louis. When the civil war began, Wilhelm put his passion to use in the Sons of the West. He partook in several brutal murders that would later haunt him, and tipped off a rival group about the location of the group about a year after he joined. After this, he found the future. In a warehouse within the ruins of Detroit, he heard met a man that spoke the truth. America was in chaos, the people suffered because of bourgoise, and only the people and workers could unite the ruins of America.



On that fateful day, Wilhelm joined the United Communes, and became the firm believer in the cause. With rifle in one hand and Manifesto in the other, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a commisar in the militia’s armed forces and leading a large force in several skirmishes before the war ended. He now wanders the Rust Belt, spreading the word of the revolution with a small band of dedicated followers.



Outlook: Wilhelm views the peace as a golden opportunity to spread the revolution quietly and for the United Communes to nurse its wounds and prepare for the second war.

Plans: For Wilhelm, the civil war may be over, but the revolution has just begun. It is best to strike when the iron is still hot, and in the chaotic times following the war, this is when the iron must be struck hardest.
