No medium is better than face-to-face. The other are too inefficient' date=' taking too much time to do anything.[/quote']
You think so? Â I frequently dislike Face to Face, I find it far too easy for a moment of drama, plot, or hard wright tension to be ruined by a flippant comment or a moment of stagefright.
I much prefer written games, but then my players have a tendancy to do things that I don't want them to. Â I'm thinking games that involve me and a variety of hats are looking better every day.
...horrible. Â Yeah, those dice can get pretty damn sharp.Stillborn said:Perhaps I should have added a "Face-to-Ass" option, for those particularly horrible games.

I find IRC to be superior. Â With reasonable typing speed and people who start working out their stunts before their turn comes, it's not SUBSTANTIALLY slower than face to face, and dice rolling is actually faster if you have a dice rolling program to roll those 45 dice and count the successes for you. Â
Further, I find the sense of immersion is much easier to maintain in IRC than face to face. Â It's just plain easier to take the game more seriously.
You could make a calculator program (or a computer one) to do the dice rolling for tabletop too. I've done it in the past. On the whole, I've come to prefer real, physical dice. I tend to get better rolls that way. My dice like me.Joseph said:I find IRC to be superior.  With reasonable typing speed and people who start working out their stunts before their turn comes, it's not SUBSTANTIALLY slower than face to face, and dice rolling is actually faster if you have a dice rolling program to roll those 45 dice and count the successes for you.
Your attention span has to be above average then because I could see myself losing interest or deciding to do something else on the computer than read the screen. Â Of course I am a technophile and have a lower attention span than the average human male. Â Course I coudl see if you take the time to write up a bunch of stuff in like word or some text editor so you have it to just copy and paste as a ST thing being a lot quicker than Face to Face, although you can do the same thing with face to face.Joseph said:Further, I find the sense of immersion is much easier to maintain in IRC than face to face. Same goes for myself. I find advancement much quicker with Table Top games, if you have a forgiving ST one could advance the story, and or your character very quickly. Chats don't seem to have that ability unless your personal buddies with the ST of your type of exaltation. I haven't tried IRC yet, though I'm hopeful. I've played other games (mostly star wars) that way, and it's been fun.Dracogryff said:But as for my own rolepaying, I admit, all I've done for Exalted is tabletop. The few times I've tried an online way to play a tabletop game, I haven't been as able to get in character, myself. I also haven't found any online Exalted sites that I'd like, as of yet, and I also have limited free time, most of which is taken up by tabletop groups or my family. So, thus I stick to the face to face approach. It's a fun way to go, and even though I might have an easier time online, I'd probably take forever to post, and have like fifteen line posts when I finally did. I'm bad about that in the other genres I've rolepayed in online. Though I've only managed to keep myself down to one post that was over ten lines. I try to moderate my posts...
Maybe it's better if I stick to tabletop.
Then again' date=' gaming to me is a social activity. It's to be done in a friendly setting, with chips, beer, maybe some pasta and wine, but it is a social activity that gets friends together under the auspices of 'gaming' but it's just another excuse to hang out, talk shit, drink beer, as much as participate in a game. I feel the same way.
I don't particularly fancy myself a writer, nor an actor. It's just been a general observation on my part.

Well, I definitely prefer writing to acting, and I prefer IRC games, so I suppose that supports your view to some extent.Stillborn said:It seems to me that people who are more inclined towards writing enjoy email/chatroom games more, whereas people who are inclined towards acting like face-to-face.

You know this is an interesting observation, because I've done PbP Exalted and some other WoD games and found them *ok* but never that fascinating.Stillborn said:It seems to me that people who are more inclined towards writing enjoy email/chatroom games more, whereas people who are inclined towards acting like face-to-face.
