What goes bump in the night

Neimi had not even been up to her room yet. After finding out that she was on the fourth floor, she raced up to Room 413. She was astonished to find that her needs for an iron cage had been taken care of already. A second collar with different metal inserts laid on top of her dresser. Neimi recognized each metal as bronze, iron, or silver. Her old collar was worn and falling apart so she went ahead and put the other one on. She used a pair of gloves that laid next to the collar to insert the bronze metal into the collar and felt the familiar sting. The other metal inserts were put inside a pouch that was also on top of the dresser. Neimi rummaged through the drawers and found enough clothes. She found assorted red, blue, and green tank tops that were to her liking and also a mixture of jeans and cargo pants as well. A long black trench coat was laid over top of a chair and it was obviously long enough to hide her tail. A black fedora large enough to cover her ears was also on the chair. Neimi was extremely glad that someone had thought ahead about hiding her abnormalities. She grabbed everything and headed down to the hangar.

---------------------------------

Haiku grabbed the essentials, the essentials being black assorted shirts, black cargo pants, and a black leather jacket. Black was an easy color to work with and went with everything and itself thus it was the logical choice. She strapped on her swords and her sheaths carefully before going to the shrine on the opposite side of the room.

"Mission today, Minuet." Haiku picked up the picture of her twin sister lovingly. "I'll be back soon. Maybe I'll have a good story to tell you." She set down the picture and walked out the door. When Haiku got down to the hangar, she found that gun cases and ammunition of all kinds had already been brought down.

"Looks like everything and the kitchen sink." Haiku grunted. "Looks like we don't know exactly what we're dealing with here. Great." She began loading the cases quickly after stowing her gear in the compartment marked for luggage.

*BOOOM!!* An explosion, a fair distance away from the plane, startled everyone, except for Lucky. "Whew, that was lucky that i noticed that crate smoking. with all the ammunition in here, that could've been catastrophic." As the smoke drifted, a few black objects could be seen dropping through the sky. As they fall to earth, Lucky picks one up, and notices that it happens be a black shirt, cut for a female, it seemed. Looking around, he could see a plethora of other black clothes: shirts, pants, and... unmentionables.

"What the hell was th-" Adrian managed to blurt out (he just arrived to the hangar) when a black bra landed on his face. ".............." Adrian was frozen: he didn't dare lay his hands on a woman's undergarments (he'd had a few misunderstandings from doing that), and even then his right hand was occupied carrying his luggage.

"......my......clothes......" Haiku walked over and grabbed the front of Lucky's shirt, pulling him up off the ground. "You want to explain to me why my stuff just went up into an explosion?" She then noticed one of her black bras on Adrian's face. Blushing bright red, she threw Lucky down, hard, and went over to pluck the bra off of his face. "Ask Lucky why my luggage just went up in fiery glory." She then stalked back upstairs to get more clothes, blushing furiously.

Adrian scratched the back of his neck somewhat sheepishly after loading his luggage into the plane. "Well, I am curious, Lucky. How DID you manage that?" he asked as he helped Lucky off of the ground (more gently than Haiku had).

"Well, I saw smoke coming out of the luggage compartment. After extracting what appeared to be the source of the smoke, i noticed more coming from the main hold, where the ammunition was stored. Me, being the gentleman that i am, took it upon myself to remove such dangers from the local vicinity."

Samuel arrived to the hangar as Haiku exited. "What's going on?"

"Ah, Samuel, was it? Apparently there was an explosion, but Lucky here took care of it."

"Is that so?" Samuel said, eyebrows raised in surprise. "Was anyone harmed?"

"It doesn't seem like it."

"That's a relief," Samuel said with a sigh. "Still, for something like that to happen...you'd think they would be a tad more cautious."

"Well, the PDA seems extremely well organized and trained," said Adrian. "Perhaps it was just bad luck?"

"Yes massa shepad, what can ya slave do for ya dis fine mornin" Geist said sarcastically in a perfect imitation of Aretha Franklin. He appeared in his natural form in front of Shepard a few moments later.

Shepard narrowed his eyes at the ball of flame in front of him

"I am not amused. We're heading to Versailles, there's been an incident that requires our attention. Luckily it's quarantined by the local forces. You'll be taking the private plane with Leceel, as per the normal. We leave within the hour."

----------------------------

Muerte nodded solemnly as he was informed of the mission and left to grab only extra ammunition as well as a few clothes before heading to the hangar. He didn't even bat an eyelash at the chaotic scene before him, nor did he seem to care.

"Hmmm" Geist narrowed his "eyes" at Shepard for a moment. " Do you want me completely incognito inside Leceel, In a pet, or in a ... special... or standard body."

"Something durable would be most appropriate. We're exterminating some nasty beasts, but they're barely more than wild animals. We need to arrive before the situation rises beyond the capability of the local enforcement though."

"Will we be dealing with the locals at all or do you want me to use one of the... arsenal units?" Geist's eyes lit up with the mention of one of the combat bodies that the PDA had built for his use.

"Just bring something roughly human-sized. I'll be doing most of the talking. I'll expect you in the hangar shortly."

With that, he walked out of the room, making his way to his own to grab his gear. He always prepared for the worst, carrying around an excess of gear no matter what he was doing. After about five minutes of gearing up, he was satisfied and started to make his way down to the hangar

"I didn't even get time to get new lingerie" complained Tiki. Her lips pouted, she checked her slingshot, making sure that she still had ammo and went to say goodbye to the animals friends she had made during her short stay.

"Well this should be interesting if nothing else" Geist chuckled. He floated down through the floors until he reached his room. Once there he floated through one of its walls and entered a C level artificial combat body. It was tall, maybe six and a half feet, shaped like a human but with no real facial features except for two glowing photorecepters and a grill where its mouth should be. He powered it up and activated the hidden door to the container he was in, a section of the wall of his room seeming to sink in and slide away. He clanked out and stood in the center of the room and if his body had lips it would be smiling, combat wasn't really his specialty but these bodies made it fun. He walked over to a container on the opposite wall and donned some standard civilian clothes, including a long coat with a rather deep hood. Afterword making his way up to the hanger his own body containing everything needed for the mission.

Haiku returned with more clothes and glared at Lucky. "You. Stay away form my clothes. Capiche?" She walked past him, not waiting for an answer, and stowed her luggage away. There was nothing more for her to put away so she quickly walked up into the plane in order to sit down. It was time to wait for Shepard to get down here and tell what was going on in Versailles.

Neimi shivered while she watched Haiku and hid behind Samuel. "Remind me not to make her mad."

Samuel chuckled nervously. "I will, because I feel the same way." He loaded his bag into the plane and took a seat inside.

------------------

Adrian motioned to Vojta and they both loaded their things and boarded.

Neimi stayed next to Samuel like a shadow. He was the only one she felt comfortable around, thus she wanted to stick close to him. "So.....do you fight at all?"

Haiku saw Adrian board and turned away, determined to not let him affect her anymore than he already had. She was going to ignore his presence.

Samuel shook his head apologetically. "I have absolutely zero skill at it, if that's what your asking. I'm afraid that if we get into a combat scenario, you're much better off with Adrian here," he said, gesturing at the man he mentioned.

Adrian chuckled. "Don't worry my comrades, I'll keep you safe. You have my word." His smile was reassuring, and Samuel returned it thankfully.

"Oh I'm not worried about me." Neimi smiled confidently, outstretching extended claws on her fingers. "I'm trying to figure out who needs protection in combat, that's all."

Haiku was getting irritated. Where was Shepard? All this talk was pointless until they actually knew what they were dealing with. She sighed and stole one glance back at Adrian before going back to ignoring him.

"Well, the only thing I ask is that you cover my left side," Adrian added with a chuckle, "though Vojta will be handling that, most of the time."

"Well, ideally I won't be in a position that I'll need protecting," Samuel said, "I'm sure that you'll all have more pressing matters when we get there. But I definitely appreciate it."

"Everyone buckle-up, I'll brief you on the situation after take-off."

Shepard walked into the hangar, not giving anyone a second glance as he boarded onto the plane

"Geist and Leceel are taking a separate form of transportation."

"Yeah... I may not have any combat skills, but..." pausing slightly, he continues, "Its proly a good idea to just stay a distance away from when youre fighting"

The plane was off the ground shortly. After about fifteen minutes, Shepard unbuckled himself and walked to the back of the cabin, pushing a button on the back wall. The floor panel opened up to reveal a projector.

"Now, I didn't give you much time to prepare, but here is the situation in Versailles."

The projector lit up, revealing a creature that was vaguely human shaped, but was shown loping on all fours. It's skin was a pale violet, and had open sores in places. The eyes were golden slits, while it's maw was full of extremely sharp teeth.

"Gremlins, a 'C' class threat. While not intelligent, they are extremely ferocious, and feed on raw flesh to multiply."

The hologram showed the creature feasting on flesh and then splitting into two, almost like a cell.

"There is a hospital in Versailles that is now infested with these things. We don't have an exact number, because we don't know how many patients were consumed before being evacuated. Local forces currently have the area quarantined, but the situation needs to be dealt with before the creatures swarm out."
