WHAT DO WE BECOME? - a survival plot.
INTEREST CHECK
WHO'S LEFT?
"an unveiling or unfolding of things not previously known and which could not be known apart from the unveiling"
A vicious affliction, as mysterious as it is deadly, has ravaged the planet, wiping out humanityβs adult population as effectively as pesticide on ants. However, some bugs have proven immune. The oldest survivors clock in at age seventeen, but even they prove rare. In this new earth, the innocence of childhood and the careless freedom of adolescence finds itself brutally torn apart-- replaced by the savagery of a time before civilization.
Starlight City, Nevada, finds itself no different. With newfound anarchy driven by fear and sheer survival instinct, an increasingly dangerous gang, dubbed βThe 144 Gangβ has been quickly snowballing over the recent month. Itβs leader, pitiless town newcomer Val Hutchinson, has convincingly cemented himself as leader of the 144 Gang, and his tactics of supply retrieval have increasingly become brutal in the wake of withering supplies. Opening fire on other scavengers, forcefully taking otherβs supplies via raid, and ruthlessly defending the gangβs land are all tactics inherited by Valβs gang, and itβs been working. With the shaky security of food, water, βsafetyβ, and a shelter too good to pass up, more and more kids around town find themselves joining the 144, despite its leaderβs apparent malice.
As the 144 Gang, camped in the townβs highschool, Starlight City High, claim the northeast part of Starlight City, a desperate highschool sophomore finds themselves spray painting the location of the townβs church, a building far from the school, in an attempt to find anybody who hasnβt yet been coerced by the 144. To their surprise, 4 others show up at the rendezvous. All effective strangers, it seems their despondency is the only thing that links them with one another. Yet, with the growing threat of the 144 and the dwindling supplies of Starlight City, the five will need to search for something beyond desperation, lest they be forced to join under the ruthless eye of Val, or die in resistance.
hello.
Hello! (again) I am very honored for you to be interested enough to read through this interest check post. This setting was inspired by one of my favorite novels, Lord of the Flies, where effective children are left to survive on their own, and observing how the anarchistic nature of children(or at least in this case young adolescents,) would survive in a world without any adults. Iβve been developing this idea for almost a year and a half now, fleshing out potential characters, plotlines, and setting, and Iβve finally come up with something I am confident with presenting to you! (after many failed attempts, of course)
TO KNOW
ONE:
Iβll be running this roleplay as GM and as the normal, because Iβve always wanted to be a part of the action! This means alongside taking a character, Iβll also be the one furthering the plot via the many NPCs and other magic that I have righteously bestowed upon myself. Literacy (which through my definition is a beyond basic understanding and utilization of the English language) is a must if you are interested in creating a sheet.
TWO:
I donβt plan on hosting an RP only to be ruined by one inactive player! This means at least one response a week(more is very welcome). Most people, including myself, have lives to live, but please make sure you have an ample amount of time to dedicate to your hobby!
THREE:
RPN rules apply! This is not a first come first serve rolepl-.. I feel like youβve already heard this before. Anyways, please use your creative license when creating a character! The only thing I ask is you stay within one character per person, and stay within the βguidelinesβ for each character slot. They are vague for a reason, so go wild! Flaws, fears, strengths, weaknesses are all the goodies that make a good character. Tentative date for sheets will be Sunday, May 21, 11:59 PM.
FOUR:
Please consider the setting when making your character! A realistic, modern setting implies, well, realism. This means no catgirl maids, strong silent anime protagonists, and cyborgs. Additionally, if you for some reason already looked over the character sheet, I didnβt add a specific spot for a faceclaim. This is because most used face claims are generally hyper-attractive celebrities that donβt accurately depict the kind of characters that would fit in the setting. However, if you do want to use a faceclaim, please limit yourselves to drawings, and donβt forget to get permission and credit the artist!
FIVE:
Lastly, Iβm not one to necessarily set an age limit on roleplays, because anybody can lie with the anonymity of the internet. All I ask is you be mature enough to deal with a dark tone and ready to write a good story. I really hope this garners enough interest! Iβd love to create a compelling plot with some dedicated writers. I canβt wait! :β)
THEM.THE LEADER
A once proactive highschool sophomore, the leader used to be a part of student council, clubs, and verified teacherβs pet. In a time where the past is worth nothing, the leader is about to discover what being a leader actually takes. -open
THE ATHLETE
Far from the highschool jock trope, the athlete of the group is definitely the most physically capable of the five. A freshman who once rode the bench for many of the schoolβs sports teams, theyβve never really found that any of their teammates they could really connect with. -open
THE POPULAR
Once a part of the βpopularβ clique in school, the popular is a sophomore who once upon a time found themselves wrapped up in relationships, toxic highschool dynamics, and fake friendships. Now, they find themselves in a nightmare far worse than petty highschool drama and worthless rivalries. -open
THE SMARTY
The smarty never actually was above average in intelligence relative to their peers. Instead, their trusting, determinant, but quite socially foolish nature left them as a cheat magnet. In the present day, though, assignments wonβt be coming from teachers. -open
THE NORMAL
A forgettable freshman that really just wants to be home enjoying their freetime, the normal was once an uninspired, unmotivated person. After their parents never came back from a vacation, the normalβs life has changed from melancholy to horrific with a flick of a switch. -taken
Town's got enough to feed us for years.
We'll just get rid of the ones taking it all.
