Fantasy What Came Through the Rift Reboot

Perrrfect; I actually had my eye on that one. Instead of making Yggdrasil a continent I can adapt It Into a large country In Skual; hows that sound?
Skual is a country in and of itself, so we might have to play with the concept a bit. Also, I do want to be careful of not making one of the existing races function-wise but with a different skin so to speak.

Ok, I can just erase Yggdrasil and just leave It as Skual If you prefer; I was under the Impression It was a large sort of Island nation with Campan as It's capital country. Also Im not sure what you mean by that.

Ah, the cities were added in randomly on that map, you can ignore them. Also, what I mean by the latter one is I don't want two races that have the same abilities and narrative function within a world is all.

What other race Is that?

I would say the closest at the moment are the Oni. That said, the emphasis you put on them being hunters does distinguish them from the oni for sure.

Oh I see what you mean. But Is that really such a big deal? I mean like not all of their abilities are the same and there are other races that could be potentially like them; like werewolves or cyclopes. Plus aren't there already the bear-folk who're similar to them. Though I can mix some things up; like lets say some Asgardians are born with special abilities amongst their kin. Like Thor a warrior with an affinity for storms or Loki a man who had the capabilities to shape shift.

It depends on the concept I guess. I suppose it's because I want the races to feel distinct from each other. Though again, I do want to stay away from direct references to existing mythology in that way.

I get what you mean, but a lot of the races you already have are apart of other existing mythologies like the succubus, the Oni, the Arachne, and the Fae.

True, though with those I feel like they've been kind of detached from their original meanings a bit through popular media in a way that the gods (Thor, Loki, etc) haven't been.

I could give them different name Instead of Asgardian. They'd still essentially be a Norse like race of people though.

True, though you could also just make a character from Skual and have many of those same characteristics to an extent.

I thought that was already the Idea. Only now Instead of Asgardian I'll just call them something else.
What I meant is like a human from Skual or the like without needing to make a full new race necessarily. Or it could be that a specific clan is known for certain things, like extreme hunting prowess.

Eww... humans? come on man, lets not be gross; no one In there right mind would want to be one of those dirty stinkin apes.

Lol, fair enough I suppose. In that case, what's the narrative aim of the race? Like how would you spin one as a character?

Oh It's a bit complex but I've worked most of It out In my mind. My character was born as an Aesir which a male Asgardian, though his clan Is sort of a group that split off from the larger clan centuries ago. They're a no name tribe that have found their own way In a secluded place In Skual, somewhere In the frozen wastes. But at some point the tribe became something else entirely after encountering a daemon. This happens centuries back before my character was born; anyway the daemon was said to have unleashed hell upon them killing many of their kin, but eventually one of the warriors of the tribe vanquished them with a mighty axe. Once they killed the creature they remaining members of the tribe drank It's black blood cause y'know vikings get real crazy sometimes and It was there belief consuming their prey would fuel their strength. Having consumed the blood they all began to violently change, some even died; but once It was over they became something that others would refer to as a berserker. Having become stronger than ever before they began to learn that their rage and fury would grant them even greater strength second to none. Now having left what was once their secluded home, they would offer there services like mercenaries to those who required the power to topple over fearsome monsters that could not be easily slain and eventually made a new home near the village of Jotunn. They're blood was no longer considered pure though, some would consider their people as corrupted and even feared what they had become. That fear was rightfully placed, because over the centuries there were some of the clan members who went berserk and gave Into the power of the daemons blood becoming monsters filled with rage and a lust to devour others.

Now my character Is a Aesir berserker, one of the few that remain. He was a warrior traveling Skual, keen on sharpening his skills with no greater goal In mind other than becoming stronger through fighting worthy opponents; whether they be man, woman, or beast. Fighting... well Is, one of the few things that he's actually deeply passionate about... the only other passions he has, would be for women; especially strong women. He also loves ale.

But here's where his life takes a sudden turn; after traveling through a terrible blizzard In midwinter he came across a lycan, which In turn attempted to tear out his throat. But then a rift occurred and having been sucked out along with the creature, he found himself In a alley way In some place he had never seen before. The creature not really giving a shit, attempted to kill him once again with a lunge from behind and In return he quickly reacted with swift reflexes; throwing them over his shoulder before raising his axe high and hammering It down Into their face. Thats kind of the gist of what Im going for. I'll get Into more details with his CS.

Edit:: Instead of Asgardian how about Aesirian?

That should, for the most part work. There are some details that won't work given the setting such as the daemon and the lycan, but those will be easier to hash out on discord.

Already there; look out for the guy called Mythozz.... he's an asshole.... he's also me.

Edit:: Just Improvising with the Daemon and the lycan since you guys are creating different species; but originally I wanted It to be a dragon Instead of a daemon, but you already have the dragonfolk race.
