Kanen was pleasantly surprised when She continued the play the little game they had going. His eyes, the color of gunmetal, watched as she quite obviously was checking him out, as if she were assessing whether or not he’d be worth the trouble. Apparently, he must’ve been, because she didn’t walk away. No, she took a step. One step closer to him, and one step away from anyone else. Good. Kanen didn’t play nice with others.

Like She was reading from a script, she repeated his challenge back, but Kanen heard the words. He was focused on her lips. The way she smiled. The way her eyes looked in the soft lighting in the cabin. Each moment, Kanen found something new to admire. As she reached up to brush the snow from his shoulder, Kanen unconsciously flexed, just a natural reaction to someone reaching towards him. The muscles in his back tightened, and his arm cocked back ever so slightly, as if he were preparing to defend himself. But Kanen stiffened up, hardly moving an inch until he decided to answer her challenged.

Kanen pushed off the wall, taking closing the distance between himself and her. His figure loomed over her petite frame as he leaned his head down towards hers, so his lips could murmur words directly into her ear. “You wouldn’t be my first addiction.” He answered, the words rumbling up from his chest in a quiet, coarse whisper.

Kanen leaned back slowly, his shoulder coming to lean up against the wall once more. In all honesty, he was quite enjoying himself. Hell, if he’d known this girl was going to be here, Kanen wouldn’t have hesitated to come on the ski trip in the first place.

Hunter

It was completely shocking to Hunter to feel goosebumps arise on her skin as she felt the boy's breath against her ear, his words coursing into her veins, adrenaline striking through her body. He was, indeed, trouble. And a trouble that she would usually have to go searching for. The tension that stiffened mystery man's body didn't go unnoticed by her, but didn't scare her in the slightest. Some people didn't like to be touched... but that wasn't exactly going to stop her. Instead, she took a moment to exam him again, Hunter took the time to really take him in, seeing as this man was obviously worth the while if this was how their interactions were going to be all the time. Flirty, slightly intimidating, and one hundred percent fun. And as much as Hunter liked the tall boy's words, his physique, his eyes, there was no way she was going to allow herself to just melt in front of him.

Lifting her head a little higher, blue eyes fixing on his greys, the smaller girl closed their distance once more, planting her palm against his chest as she reached up on her tiptoes, lips grazing his ear. Hunter knew exactly what she was doing, and damn, was it fun. In a soft voice, one both inviting and slightly fixed, she whispered low, "And you wouldn't be mine."

Proud of herself, fully into the guy, and wanting to leave while she was on top, Hunter pulled back from him, shot him a wink and gently pushed past him towards the kitchen entrance near the front entrance of the cabin. Not hearing the sounds of footsteps behind her, she looked back over her shoulder, gesturing with a nod in the direction she was headed. "Well c'mon. You look like you could use the cup of coffee more than me," She cooed, accent warm and kind and completely shifted from her low whisper. None the less, she started back towards her destination, not looking behind her to see if Tats had bothered following.

Kanen wasn’t blind. He could see clear as day, she was just as attracted to him as Kanen was to her, maybe even more so. The way she teased was on verge of driving Kanen mad. As she stepped closer once again, with her hand on his chest, Kanen found himself leaning ever so slightly towards her. Then, her lips brushed against his ear, and Kanen was hooked. If he weren’t sober, Kanen might’ve just kissed he right then and there, and skipped all this teasing and tempting. But there was that doubt in his mind, that this girl would only stay interested in him for as long as he resisted her. As such, Kanen wasn’t going to just bend over backwards for her.

As she turned and walked away, Kanen watched her go. He took her in, the way she walked, the way her body moved. Kanen damn bear followed her when she beckoned for him to come along. But no. He wasn’t about to let her win. If she wanted his attention, Kanen would damn near make her beg for it. They were playing a game after all, and Kanen hated to lose.

While she walked one way, Kanen walked the other. Sure, he would act like she hadn’t gotten the best of him, but in reality, it was her face that occupied his thoughts. He slipped into the first door way he passed, hoping to gather himself before someone else in the cabin realized that Kanen had just fallen hard for the new girl in town. That’d be an embarrassment, big bad Kanen, love struck.

So yes, maybe Hunter was slightly annoyed as she made a cup of coffee in the kitchen, unaccompanied by pretty tattoo boy. That was how he was going to play, hm? She almost chuckled to herself at the thought. This game was going to be long winded and either so much fun or incredibly frustrating, or, best case scenario, both. The blue eyed girl was so used to men falling at her feet, begging for her attention, pining after her, and god was it annoying. She preferred her men had some dignity, and while yes, it was nice to have a man lust after her, it was the teasing and hard-to-get attitude that made it interesting. Maybe Tats would keep up and be something of interest for Hunter.

Who was she kidding, she hoped the guy would continue whatever game they were playing. He was ridiculously attractive, and looked like a guy who knew how to use his height and physique to his advantage. He also knew his way around a conversation, knew how to use his words, and while he was good, Hunter was hell bent on being better. She wouldn't be the first one to break, considering that had never done well for her in the past, but god what she wouldn't do to see that tough exterior break for even just a minute.

Mildly frustrated and completely bewildered by the fact that someone like Tats even lived in this town, Hunter grabbed her mug of black coffee and headed out of the kitchen and towards the back porch, snatching a blanket from a shelf as she walked along. Hanging out and small-talking with everyone didn't seem like fun right now, but the covered porch with snow falling down was ever so inviting. Pushing the door open, the brunette checked to see if anyone was around (really she was just checking for her mysterious game-player) before slipping out and settling into the giant outdoor couch. A small bonfire was lit in the center of the covered porch, snow falling everywhere but this little centralized location. So with a smile, and coffee in hand, Hunter fell into the corner of the large, plush couch, tossing the blanket over her legs and watching the snow fall.

Casper

Casper watched as Stu kept walking, nibbling at his lip harder, but then Stu turned around, and Casper slumped a bit, relieved but still deeply ashamed as Stu led him back to the room Casper had picked out.

His hands were taken again, and all Casper could do was stare at them. Stu was taking care of him, and he was being pretty nice about it, too- As soon as he told Casper to stop nibbling on his lips, he did.

Casper watched as Stu turned on the water, and almost started nibbling at his lip again, instead opting to tug gently at his hair with the hand that wasn’t covered in blood. And then he was rinsing his hands, almost on autopilot, before drying them and putting on a pair of gloves.

Stu gave him a KitKat, and all of it just pushed Casper closer to tears. He nibbled on the KitKat, doing his best to savor it. Treats like this were a rare commodity in his home, after all, and even if Stu had made them more common, they were still special to Casper.

Despite the candy, Casper couldn’t help but glance away when Stu sat next to him, asking what was wrong. He wanted to lean against him so, so badly… Would it really hurt anyone if he did?

Slow enough Stu could stop him if necessary, Casper went to lean against him. “It’s stupid…” As he trailed off, the glanced to him and saw the towel, carefully taking it before pushing his glasses up and wiping at his eyes. “I’m just…Well, I was… worried.”

Aaron

Well, shit. Aaron pursed his lips, now faced with a decision as he watched Maisie turn down the hallway. He could go after her, or he could pretend that she had seemed okay… What would she even want? Was she worth the effort?

A part of him said yes, and, to be honest, that terrified Aaron.

That was how he decided no, she could handle herself, and headed into a random room, dropping off his stuff among the double bunk beds.

He couldn’t shake the way Maisie had looked, the way she had said she was going out for air, even as he tried to relax.

Eventually, he let out a huff, put his jackets back on, and headed back outside, frowning just a bit. He saw Maisie, and plopped down beside her, leaning forward a bit and not looking at her.

“Are you feeling any better?” he asked.

Maisie
tumblr_inline_ojmg38k0i61ravrtw_1280.gif

She didn’t think anyone would come out here, incredibly surprised that it was Aaron and even more so when he asked how she was. Even if she’d tried to lie about how she felt, probably wouldn’t work. So, Maisie just answered his question as anyone else would. Minus the lie. “I don’t think so, no.” The cold air has dried whatever tears that fell, glancing over to Aaron and scooting the slightest inch away from him.

She hated how she handled all of that, maybe if she would’ve changed her words and actions around Drake would’ve... Maisie doesn’t know. Stop doing drugs? Start caring about anyone else other than himself for a few seconds? Okay, that last part was harsh and probably not relevant. Or was it? “Everything sucks, Aaron.” She took in a deep breath and exhaled before continuing.

“Seriously, everything.” It might’ve been weird for her to complain to Aaron, they hadn’t talked much, but usually their time was spent together because of Drake. If they didn’t have Drake anymore, would they still hang out? Did he even consider the two as friends? She was curious to that fact but Maisie’s mind was on other things at the moment.

“Drake’s using, I don’t know if you knew that already.” She mumbled it to herself. What? It wasn’t like she promised Drake she wasn’t going to tell anyone.

Hunter went to bed that night still thinking of the tall, tatted guy she had just briefly met in the hallway, and woke up the next morning realizing she had never even gotten the guys name. Typical of her, not asking the one question that might actually be helpful, too focused on mindless teasing and flirtation. So, until further notice, he was just going to be Tats. And even the next morning, waking up in an empty room with nothing but her mug from the night before and her duffle on top of the dresser, he still managed to poke into her mind.

Pushing out of bed, and hoping that some cold water to her face would help calm her running mind, Hunter quickly pulled her thick brown hair back into a messy bun, some of the shorter pieces falling out of the constraints to frame her face. She figured it was probably too early for most to be awake, seeing as she was in a house filled with a bunch of high schoolers and it was only 9:30 in the morning, so decided to snag the hot tub while it wasn't currently occupied. Hunter swiftly pulled on a plum colored bikini, tossing a long black sweater over it that hung down to about her mid thigh and snatched her phone and mug from the bedside table before slipping out into the hallway. She attempted to be as quiet as possible, weaving in and out of the bathroom to grab a towel, making a quick cup of black iced coffee in the kitchen, then scurrying out to the hot tub.

And just as expected, the brunette had the tub all to herself. She couldn't believe how beautiful and peaceful it was out here, snow falling as steam rose from the hot water. Putting on some music, she set her phone on a table within arms reach before sinking her body down into the relaxing water, eyes shut and an idle smile on her lips as she listened to the mixture of snowfall and music lulling in the air.

Neck Tie

OlD81cV.gif

Neck Tie didn’t so much as flinch as the other boy leant against him. Casper could do that if he wanted to, or if it made him feel less lonely. ‘It’s not stupid,’ he told him, ‘I didn’t like being out there either.’

He pulled his backpack onto his lap and produced a KitKat for himself. ‘I didn’t mean to take so long. I met someone,’ he said, ‘someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. I thought he was my friend, but I don’t think he is anymore.’

‘Then I ran into Nova. She’s like. . . Jace’s girlfriend. Well, I mean, she was. But she was really sad. I tried to help her, cos I thought that’s what friends are supposed to do. But I don’t think she wanted to talk to me,’ he said, ‘There was this other guy. . . He didn’t even know her, but I think she’d much rather talk to him.’

Neck Tie picked at the chocolate under his fingernails. ‘I keep thinking people are my friends, but they’re not. Most of the time they just want me to scram.’

Why was he telling Casper all this? He guessed it was just to get Casper’s mind off whatever was troubling him. Or was all of this more about himself and his own conscience than Casper’s?

‘I think it’s because I smile, I laugh, and I do silly things. . . they think they can push me around and I’ll soon get over it. But it hurts and I’ll never get over it. I hate being pushed around, by Mason, Jace, Theo. . . by everybody. And I hate Westbrook. I hate that everyone’s always partying, always getting wasted, always at each other’s throats. You can’t even look at anybody in the eye in the hallway without getting socked one. And they'll never let you forget your mistakes, or if. . . if you wore a neck-tie on your first day at school. . . They've never let me forget it.'

'Even when people get hurt, nobody cares. Not as much as they care about when the next party is anyway. . . so they can get wasted and fight all over again. And if you’re not like them, you’re either invisible or they just laugh at you. I don't have any friends here. Not real ones anyway,' he said with a soft sigh, '. . . just you.'

Daniel
Daniel woke up with his head pounding, a half empty glass of liquor sitting next to his bedside. Their first night at the cabin, Kanen and Daniel decided to have a few drinks, and frankly, Kanen had drunk Daniel under the table, leaving Daniel hung over and miserable in the morning. Admittedly, drinking with Kanen was a mistake. If nothing else, Kanen could handle his booze, at least better than Daniel could.

He groaned as he sat up in bed, generally looking like a zombie. He could smell the liquor on his own breath, the scent of it making Daniel feel sick to his stomach. There was no way Daniel was drinking anymore up here. The hangover wasn’t worth whatever short lived fun
alcohol provided. He didn’t understand how Kanen could drink so much and be fine in the mornings, it was madness. Daniel would happily remain sober if it meant leaving behind the headaches and nausea of the hangovers. This sucked.

Danny showered and brushed his teeth, he couldn’t spend another moment smelling like cheap whiskey and rum. The cool water running down his face didn’t do much to soothe his head, but it felt good to just be clean. Throwing on a pair of jeans and pulling a blanket up around his bare shoulders, he went out to explore the cabin a bit more. There wasn’t much else to do. Everyone else was still mostly asleep. All but one, it seemed.

Daniel peeked out the window, watching as some girl relaxed in the hotub outside. Danny didn’t know her, but she seemed to be the only other person awake, and thus, she was going to be his only company for the time being. He shuffled outside, pulling a chair up beside the hot tub and plopping down. “You’re up early.” He commented, pulling the blanket a little tighter around his body.

The wind blew slightly less as the morning seemed to progress, making it bearable for Hunter to have her shoulders above water. The contract was nice, the steaming water to the frigid air, but she'd be damned if she was going to risk getting sick. This house was full of people she didn't know, and frankly, Hunter never took to the 'always see the good in people until they prove you wrong' mantra. To her, people had to prove they weren't complete assholes, and then maybe gain an ounce of trust.

And speaking of those she didn't know, the opening of the sliding glass door startled the brunette slightly, almost making her drop the ice coffee, but she recovered quickly. Her eyes flashed up to a tall figure stepping out into the open, clad in nothing but a pair of slightly faded jeans and a fluffy blanket draped around his bare torso. He was fairly chiseled in the face, his skin free of any ink and his face clean of any piercings. His hair was well kept, his face neatly shaven and his overall appearance that of a guy looking to go to college on a sports scholarship. Not exactly Hunter's type, but she wasn't one to deny someone of their attractiveness. She wasn't blind after all. Though, something about him looked vaguely familiar... like she had seen him, or someone that looked like him before.

A lift brow accompanied a small smile as she watched the guy silently pull up a chair, plop down and make himself comfortable. What was with guys here, just approaching her like this? Not that Hunter minded, it was just extremely new to her, this amount of confidence that seemed to just radiate throughout the place.

Nonetheless, Hunter flashed a smile before sipping from her iced coffee once more, tilting her head and nodding towards the stranger. "You are too," She pointed out, eyes flicking to the time on her phone that read 9:49 am. Hunter set the coffee down gently before wading to the edge of the tub closest to the stranger, folding her arms on the rim and leaning into it. "And here I was, thinking that if you didn't wake up a teenage boy they would sleep until noon." Obviously it was a joke, but it definitely was something that the brunette had thought about. Part of her reason for being so quiet this morning. Mission failed. "Something wake you? Or just an early riser?"

He was glad this girl friendly, if he wasn’t going to be stuck feeling like shit, it was nice to at least have some pleasant company. Besides, She was pretty too. Intimidating, yeah sure. She carried herself with a metric fuck-ton of confidence. This girl, whoever she was, was the type that meant nothing but trouble. But that was fine. After all, Daniel spent half his time hanging out with Kanen, and there wasn’t a soul in all of Westbrook that could cause more havoc than his older brother.

When she asked why he was up so early, Daniel huffed, almost a chuckle, but not quite. “I couldn’t spend another moment stinking like Fireball and Captain Morgan.” Daniel admitted. “Word from the wise, if anyone here challenges you to a drinking contest, say no. Especially if it’s Kanen.” He added. Daniel’s eyes watched the steam rise up off of the water in the hot tub. He kinda regretted not wearing his swim suit out here. The air was freezing, and his little blanket could only do so much to fight off the cold. Goosebumps rose up and down his arms.

“What about you? Why on earth are you up so early, and in the hot tub no less?” Danny asked with an inquisitive look. He couldn’t blame her of course, the hot tub looked nice right about now, but why was she here? It just seemed a little bit odd for her to be sitting out here all alone while everyone else was still sound asleep in the beds or on the couches, or wherever. It seemed like everyone st the cabin had scattered themselves sometime in the night.

Casper

Casper looked up at Stu as he spoke, not bothering to correct him on why he had been worried. His eyes dropped to the bag as Stu pulled it up, then looked at the KitKat, watching as Stu ate it.

His eyes got sadder as Stu kept speaking, and, unthinking, he nuzzled him. That made people feel better, right? Touching in general was nice, and comforting.

Emboldened by the allowance of the lean, Casper reached out and took one of Stu’s hands, holding it gently.

His eyes widened as Stu finished up. He just had him… and lately, Casper had just had Stu, too. That was kind of romantic, huh?

Should he kiss him? He kind of wanted to. When was the last time he had kissed someone? He missed it.

Still thinking quiet thoughts, less worries and more fantasies, Casper slowly sat up, moving his hand to Stu’s cheek, tilting his head towards himself, then leaned in, still so, so slow, and kissed Stu, gentle.

Aaron

Aaron simply nodded at her admission, listening as he began to shiver. He understood why she had gone outside, but that didn’t stop him from wishing she had just gone downstairs. It was cold out here, damn it.

Everything sucked. That’s what Maisie was saying. Aaron couldn’t help but agree, so he nodded.

He took a moment, thinking about how he could possibly add to this conversation, but then Maisie dropped something he wasn’t expecting, which was honestly his fault. Drake was using- Had he even stopped.

“Jesus. Was he not just in the hospital from overdosing?” he said immediately, voice laced with a hint of annoyance. “He’s going to kill himself this way.”

Then, he glanced at Maisie, and frowned, just a bit. He took a moment, hesitant to ask his next question, but, eventually, he had to.

“Is that why you’re upset?”

Ah, up early because of a gnarly hangover. It took everything in Hunter not to snort at the reason, mainly because she had been in that same position not but two weeks ago, before she left to move to Westbrook. However, it definitely took more than some rum and whiskey to mess her up too bad.

"Kanen sounds like someone I could get along with," Her voice dripped with interest as she rested her chin on her folded hands, letting her body sink back into the warm water. A drinking contest sounded fun in a place like this. Loser has to jump in the snow in their underwear, winner gets to film. Ah, how London shaped her idea of fun. Obviously this boy was one that couldn't handle his intake as well, so maybe going against him would be a treat too. "I take great pride in my tolerance, thank you very much," Hunter chuckled, shrugging her shoulders a bit.

Truth was, Hunter just liked to be up early. It meant more time in the day to do things, experience things, and, if she felt like it, meet more people and get awkward introductions over and done with. "I like the quiet," Which was definitely part of it, just maybe not the whole part. "And no one wants to be in a hot tub with eight people crowding it. I figured I'd get my time in first before anyone else woke up," Which was absolutely her plan. She had a hot tatted boy to find, and wanted to try to steal his attention before any of the other girls here did. That, and she really wanted to get his name.

"You on the other hand look freezing," It was easy to see the goosebumps that had invaded the guy's skin, his frame tense as the cold got to him. He seemed like he was taking it semi-well though, but he certainly didn't need to be. "Maybe the cowboy look of jeans and no shirt wasn't the best idea in the snow, hm?" The joke even made Hunter laugh, and rarely did she break to laugh at her own jokes, but god. This guy was out here in what must've been 30 degree weather in nothing but jeans? Please. It never made sense to the girl why a guy would risk his health to show off his abs. Not that she minded the view, she would never turn down the sight of a chiseled abdomen, but she found herself genuinely concerned that Mr. Stranger was going to get hypothermia out here.

Not wanting to be a complete dick though, the brunette sighed and leaned over the tub towards the stranger with an outstretched hand. "I'm Hunter, by the way," Her accent almost sang her name, eyes gentle for once instead of their usual play at intimidation. The guy seemed nice enough, and like he could take some of her shit, so the blue eyed girl figured he at least deserved a name.

Alice watched for a little bit as Mads ate the apple happily. She realized that she didn't have a reason to be in the kitchen, and decided not to waste anymore time. "Well," she put one hand on her hip. "See you around, Mads." and with that, she exited the kitchen. Following the hallway, she went into a random room filled with trinkets.

Nothing really appealed to her, and she kept moving. Eventually, after seeing rooms filled with wonders and such, she eventually came back to her room. She got down onto the floor, and began to unpack her suitcase. Laying out her clothes in neat piles, Alice lifted her head up and stared at the top bunk. *I do wish that someone would come and not leave me alone...* She shook her head. *Nonsense. You like being alone...right?* But being lonely was hard. And Alice wished sometimes that she was like the others. She crawled into the bed, and stared out the window at the falling snow.

Kanen was burried in what must’ve been a mountain of pillows and blankets, invisible to the outside world. Just the weight of it all was comforting. One blanket piled on over another, with pillows all around his head and torso. Kanen could’ve laid there all day, and really, he probably would’ve stayed in bed if his phone hadn’t gone off. He couldn’t just ignore calls, god forbid he missed a call about ‘work.’ That in itself could be dangerous. Kanen didn’t get to just take days off to go and party at some ski hill. He scrambled out of bed to get to his phone across the room. “Hello?” He spoked, tasing his phone up to his ear.

It was just some over the phone salesmen though. Nothing important. Kanen had gotten out of bed, destroyed his little nest, all for nothing. It was a little bit aggravating. Normally Kanen would stayed in bed until well past noon, just enjoying the relative peace of mornings and the quiet they held. But now, Kanen was wide awake, standing in his room in a pair of boxer shorts.

He grumbled something about ‘stupid call centers’ and got dressed, pulling on a pair of pants and a white sweater. If he was going to be awake, he might as well be productive. He went wandering through the kitchen, scrounging up whatever he needed to make some bomb-ass coffee. He was sure Daniel would need a bit of a pick me up after a long night of drinking.

After making the coffee, Kanen went back down the hallway to the room he’d left Daniel in, only to find it empty. Daniel had obviously slept in the bed, the covers were all torn up, and the pillows were wrinkled. Yet, Daniel was gone.

“Just fuckin’ great.” Kanen groaned, turning on his heels to go search the rest of the cabin for his brother. He fully expected to find Daniel in a pool of his own vomit, which was the last think Kanen wanted to deal with right now. Puke was gross enough when it was his own, but Kanen hated dealing with other people’s vomit. It was disgusting, and it always smelled so horrible.

Kanen was pleasantly surprised to find Daniel outside by the tub, talking to the girl he’d met the night before. Oh boy.

Kanen slid the sliding door open, walking outside to stand behind his little brother. “Gonna make a habit of waking up early now?” He asked, shoving a coffee into Daniel’s hands and sipping his own.

Kanen did his absolute best to appear completely uninterested in the girl in the hot tub, though he did steal a glance or two, peeking at her from behind his sunglasses. Ah, glorious sunglasses. They certainly served their purpose.

Daniel
Daniel didn’t have time to say much more before Kanen seemed to appear out of no where, coming up behind him and practically forcing a warm coffee into his hands. Not that Daniel minded, he was freezing his ass off. A warm coffee was like a blessing right now. Daniel quickly drained a third of the cup, only talking after he was content.

“Shut up, Kanen.” He grumbled, shooting his older brother a look. “Hunter, Kanen. Kanen, Hunter.” He went on, doing his best to fight off his headache and introduce Kanen to his new friend, all the while forgetting to introduce himself. Oh well, Hunter would figure it out sooner or later.

Hunter

Just as the stranger in front of her was about to say his name, who else but Tats would appear in the doorway. He still seemed slightly groggy, but had at least managed to get himself dressed, unlike what she assumed to be his friend here. Hunter watched the interaction closely, squinting her eyes as the man from last night practically tossed a coffee into shirtless guy's hands, seemingly grumpy from being up this early in the morning. He didn't look like the type to be awake early, that was for sure, definitely more of a night owl. Either way, the brunette reached over and grabbed her almost empty coffee from the tub-side table, finishing the rest before listening to the introduction that was given.

So this was Kanen. An easy smirk spread across the brunette's lips as her eyes drifted up to him. She knew this act he was playing, not wanting to acknowledge her first, but it wasn't one that Hunter felt like playing for now. Instead, she looked directly at Kanen's face, taking in the tattoos around his neck and the way his hair effortlessly fell. The name suit him, that was for damn sure. Slightly unique and not soft or inviting. It was a name you were meant to ask again, and when you did, an annoyed remark probably followed.

"Guess I don't have to keep calling you Tats then, hm?" Hunter cocked her head to the side slightly, pushing herself up onto her elbows and out of the water only a bit. Steam radiated off of her previously dipped figure, the cold inviting a nice contrast to her otherwise heated frame. The petite girl allowed her voice to drift back to the shirtless stranger, her eyes not yet breaking from Kanen's face. "Turns out I do know your friend. But I don't think I'd have too much trouble keeping up with him in a drinking challenge." The words were honey, challenging but in a nonchalant way. Yes, Hunter could hold her liquor better than most of the men in her family, and that was something she was proud of. But more than anything she wanted to see how Kanen was after a drink or two in him.

The Fiaco Brothers
“Brother.” Kanen quickly corrected. “Unfortunately, we share the same DNA.” He spoke, only just now noticing that Daniel was outhere without a shirt or even shoes. Seriously? Was he stupid or something? Jesus Christ, it was like watching over a damn toddler! “Daniel?” Kanen spoke, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked down at his kid-brother.

Daniel looked up slowly, a sheepish grin on his face. “Yeah?” He responded, dragging out the word before taking another sip of his coffee. He held the mug with two hands, doing his best to stay warm as a cold breeze softly blew around the cabin from down the mountain. He shivered, spilling a bit of coffee onto his hands.

“You’re a fucking idiot.” Kanen grumbled, rubbing his temples. Despite Daniel practically being an adult, Kanen still felt responsible for the brat, which was probably a good thing considering some of the stupid shit Daniel got himself in to. Daniel looked pretty and he wasn’t stupid, but he’d yet to really grow up at all. He still thought of everything like a game. Daniel rarely took anything seriously. If there was ever any trouble, Daniel’s step dad always bought his way out of it. In that sense, Kanen and Daniel were entirely different.

After Kanen called him an idiot, Daniel just shrugged and laughed, pointing over at Hunter. “You’re just pissed because the pretty girl would rather have a drink with me, instead of you.”
Daniel teased, though Kanen was quick with a comeback.

“The only reason anyone would want to drink with you, is because you’re a fucking lightweight and you’re fun to mess with when you’re drunk.” The Older Fiaco responded, looking down at his brother with a bored expression and then to Hunter. “You want to drink with him, be my guest. He puked three times last night though, so, have fun dealing with that.”

Daniel opened his mouth to argue some more, but was shut up when Kanen smacked the back of his head. “Just shut up already would you?” Kanen said, shushing his kid brother into a reluctant silence.

Kanen looked back to Hunter again. “So, I know why shit-head here is awake so early.” He began, nudging Daniel’s shoulder. “But what’re you doing up? Did ya miss me so soon, ya just had to get out of bed and pray I’d stumble upon you in your little bikini?” Kanen teased. He was quite flirting some more, though his tone could be interpreted as just mere mocking.

Daniel of course knew his brother was flirting and immediately became embarrassed, his checks turning crimson. He sank down into his chair, letting his blanket wrap up around the side of his head. Kanen paid him no mind.

Nikita Romanov
As soon as he got into the cabin, he avoided pretty much everybody in order to get a room which he hoped he could stay by himself in. He knew that the rooms had bunk beds which would make that difficult though. After getting in a room and setting his things on the bottom bunk, he unpacked his luggage and meticulously organized everything he had brought with himself. This included all of his clothes, his books along with various studying material and his electronic devices, namely his laptop, earphones and his small game console which he had not charged. The place had electricity but it was not very easy to get a good connection on his phone, let alone access the internet using 4G.

It wasn't long before he found himself occupied as he began to study some of the school material he had through the books and the pdfs he had on his computer. Although not a position he found much productivity in, Nikita did so while on his bed, leaning his back against the pillow he was given. In all honesty, he was too tired from the trip there to study properly, with him hoping that reading would help him sleep. He had no idea how he was dragged into here as he wasn't really the type of person to thrive in such social situations. But it was an opportunity to try and see whether interacting with other people and being social would be fun.

Hunter

Watching the two interact had got to be one of the most hilarious things Hunter could've seen this morning. Her older brother had left long ago, gotten married and now lived in upstate New York with his wife and kids. Fancy job, fancy house, well-groomed, a true perfect model of a law-abiding member of society. So in short; he was boring. She only wished her and her sibling could've been like this, joking and teasing one another. Instead, Hunter's brother used to get hyper offended, demand apologies and call her mean. And usually, the Ramsley parents would take his side. Even the thought pissed off the brunette, but it wasn't like it was something that would change now.

A laugh escaped her as she listened to Kanen talk of Daniel's trouble with holding his liquor, rolling her eyes slightly. Lightweight were the most fun to drink with; it meant that you always won. "Drinking with lightweights has it's perks," Was all she offered on the subject before moving on, sitting back on her heels and letting her arms fall back into the water. She had almost forgotten about his brother, and gave him a sympathetic shrug. Hunter remembered what it was like to be a lightweight... not fun. She felt for the guy. It was going fine, Hunter keeping this cool expression until a small scoff pushed from her chest at Kanen's assumption, her mouth twisting into a wicked grin, eyes locking with his in a playfully menacing way.

"Y'know, maybe I was," Hunter quirked a brow at him, her head cocking to the side as her lips pursed before settling back into the infamous grin. "Just got out of bed this morning and hoped to find a man in this god forsaken place that could appreciate me in my 'little bikini', as you put it. Doesn't seem that any have turned up though. You don't seem like the type that could handle it after all." The brunette feigned an exasperated sigh, pouting out her lower lip. She loved this, this testing of a guy who could for sure do some damage but she knew just wouldn't. It almost made her wonder if she could keep the promise to herself not to break first. But, if the two happened to be drunk in the same room, maybe she could just blame the alcohol.

Alice rolled off her arm, shaking it a bit to get rid of the 'pins and needles.' She sighed and slid off of the bed. She wanted to do something, but she had almost explored the whole cabin, wasn't in the mood to talk. Sitting alone didn't help either. Standing up, Alice decided to go snowboarding. Searching through her stuff, she eventually found what she needed, and headed out the door.

Alice sat on the chair lift, looking around through her goggles at the slowly falling snow. It was peaceful, and the only sound was the machine and the wind that came every couple seconds. She wished that someone was next to her to enjoy the view. But everyone else was talking to their friends or sleeping. Alice didn't prefer either. Eventually, the chair lift reached its destination, and Alice hopped off. She took a breath of the cold air and smiled. Alright, here we go. If she said that she wasn't nervous, she'd be lying. Alice hadn't snowboarded ever since she had arrived in Westbrook as a sophomore. One...two...three! And she was off, riding her snowboard down the snowy hill.

Maisie
tumblr_inline_ojmg38k0i61ravrtw_1280.gif

Was it why she was upset? No, Maisie was probably upset about a lot of things. She shook her head and it took her a few moments in silence before she could even begin to attempt to speak. She took a breath and watched the small cloud it formed because of the cold, shrugging, It was about many things, Drake just kind of pushed her over the edge y'know? Instead of answering the question she dodged it.

Maisie lifted one arm and raised her hand to play with the infamous earrings. "One time, I was staying with these people... uh... his name was... Daren? I think? I don't know. It was a long time ago. Really nice family though, might've been the nicest place I've been to, his wife was great, and they had a son who was really nice too. Uh, anyway. It was really late at night, I knew because there was a light on in the other room, he'd get upset if the lights were on at day, light bill maybe?" She narrowed her eyes in thought of it, it was almost if she was talking to herself, though aware that Aaron was next to her, Maisie was just deep in her own thoughts.

"My throat was really dry so, I got out of bed and went to the kitchen for water, and he was already there, he noticed me. It was like, I knew that I wasn't supposed to see that? But I still didn't move. Like, the smart thing to do was to just go back and not say anything, but instead I sat there. Just... staring at him."

Maisie remembered it like it was yesterday, yet, she wasn't sure of his name. How didn't she remember his name but remembered almost every detail? "He told me that, it wasn't what it looked like and to not tell anyone. When I didn't respond he took me by that arm and said. 'Don't be scared, it's nothing bad.' He took the needle and put it in my arm, 'See! Nothing bad.' Y'know ironically after that, I was convinced drugs were bad. The very next day there was a surprise visit and a social worker found me like, high out of my mind. It wasn't uh... wasn't a pretty scene." That was only one of the lesser worse stories she could've told him.

And it like Maisie completely despised most drugs, weed was something she could handle and did usually. But never anything more than that, not after that whole thing.

"The guy didn't get arrested unsurprisingly, and the kid didn't get taken away either. I just got put in a worse home than that one."

Ian's focus was only half directed at Nova, the other half still tangled up in his current predicament, but when heard the words 'play something' she had his undivided attention. He stopped spinning the stick in his hand and a light smile grew on his lips. She was suggesting a distraction from his thoughts, which frankly sounded like a great idea. Besides this was all out of his control. Hope for the best and deal with what happens right? Easier said than done, but he was tired of dwelling on things. It was just so exhausting. Yeah, a distraction definitely sounded like a good idea.

Ian didn't bother holding back a chuckle as Nova said her callouses were softening and proceeded to show him. "Well then we should fix that shouldn't we?" he was about to reach out and brush the hair out of her face but stopped himself and ran his hand through his hair instead. What was he doing? That would have been definitely not ok, but there was just something about her- something magnetic almost. He stood, helping Nova to her feet as well, before they both wandered off in search of some strings.

The pair wandered about for quite a while, but never managed to find a guitar. You'd think that in a cabin this opulent there would be random luxuries like that just lying around, but that was not the case. They did manage to explore most if not all of the cabin however, all the while chatting and laughing. It was weird to Ian how easy Nova was to talk to. They'd only just met that day but it felt like they'd known each other for much longer and were just getting reacquainted. Ian felt a little guilty they didn't manage to actually play some music together so he instead he found a piece of paper and literally wrote her an IOU. It read 'Ian owes you one song. Redeemable at any time.' "Now hold onto this carefully. Very valuable." he joked with a grin. They had talked for a while longer until they decided to go to bed.

That night Ian didn't really sleep however. It wasn't that his floor corner wasn't comfortable, in fact it surprisingly was comfortable. He figured that comfortable floors were something you could buy if you were stupid wealthy. The real reason Ian couldn't sleep was himself. He just couldn't get out of his own head, his thoughts a never ending torrent, never slowing enough to hold on to for more than a few seconds. Eventually he gave up on any hope of rest and sat up to lean into the corner. "Ain't no rest for the wicked." he muttered as he stared out into the living room. Soon people started to stir. There were two girls he didn't recognize, Daniel, and Kanen. He didn't think a single one of them noticed him in his corner, but that was fine by him, in fact it was part of the reason he chose that corner. He sighed and got up and took a quick cold shower before returning to his corner. He picked out a notepad from his bag and grabbed his denim jacket before heading outside to the porch.

The feeling of the brisk morning air filling his lungs was enough to give Ian enough energy and motivation to do some songwriting. He leaned against the porch railing and stared at the page. He had a couple lines written down but he was at a loss of where to go from there. He looked over to the hot tub where the Fiaco brothers were and one of the girls he didn't know from earlier. With a tired sigh, Ian returned his stare back to the page in front of him, shifting his weight to his left leg. He intended on standing there until he was satisfied with his work, which could take all day, but such was the price to pay for art. txlos txlos mentioned: High5ives High5ives

Nova

The rest of the night Nova only managed to think of her break three times. Well... maybe four, but the last one was only while she had been laying in bed. Point is, she had no idea how to thank Ian for being something a block in her thoughts. The two had managed to go all around the seemingly endless cabin, checking down most every hallway, exploring the kitchen and the back porch, going in and out of game rooms, and you would've thought a guitar would be somewhere what with this being Jace's vacation home, but it seemed that their object of search eluded the pair. Nonetheless, a good time was had up until the brunette boy had led Nova to her room, gave her a smile, and said his goodnights.

Once in her room, Nova leaned her back and looked down at the IOU in her hand, stupidly grinning at it. Ian was incredibly kind, and extremely sure of himself. It was weird being around him, especially so close to her breakup with Jace and- woah. C'mon, it wasn't like the guy liked her like that, they had just met. But god did he remind her of Jace, and at the same time was so different. Jace wasn't the type to go out and socialize, didn't really like talking to others, wasn't exactly the guy you went to and cried to him about your problems. He would've sat frozen, unsure of how to reassure you. Ian wasn't like that. Ian seemed like the guy who started singalongs around a bonfire, the type of guy who was protective, confidence radiating out of him. And maybe it was her newly single state or the fact that she had just gotten out of a relationship, but Nova liked Ian. As a friend, at the very least. She enjoyed his company.

Though once in bed, sleep was hard to find. The brunette lay wrapped in blankets, in a bed that was too big for just her. In a bed she had intended on sharing with her boyfriend when she got back. A boyfriend she no longer had. The conversation seemed to play on a loop in her mind that night, and by the next morning Nova could feel the soreness in her body was up by ten fold. Her shoulders ached, stomach growling and reminding her that she had forgotten to eat before bed. So with reluctance stiff throughout her figure, the brunette shoved her covers off and hopped in a warm shower, letting the water to relieve some of the tension before towel drying her hair and throwing on some mascara. It wasn't until Nova grabbed her phone to check the time that she realized her screensaver was still Jace... Jace and her to be exact, at the bonfire they had gone to several months ago. The picture made them look so happy, so in love... so something that they weren't anymore. As she brushed, Nova went through and changed her screensaver, moving all photos of the blonde beanie boy into a private folder, tucking it away. She didn't have the heart to delete them yet... she didn't want to.

Dressed in a navy blue crop top, an oversized grey cardigan and black leggings, Nova was quick to pull on her black Doc Martens and start for the kitchen. She had had enough of her time this morning taken up by her ex, and she would've much rather just- Ian. Peaking around the corner, Nova could see Ian on the porch, along with what looked like Kanen and a few others. And while she would like to avoid Kanen, she wouldn't mind saying good morning to Ian. Quickly, she ran to the kitchen, fixing two mugs of coffee before slipping out onto the porch, shivering slightly as the cold wind hit her face.

"You're up early," Her hazel eyes smiled at the brunette as she handed him a cup of coffee, leaning her back against the railing and taking in the beautiful scene around her. There was no way this trip could be ruined by her relationship falling apart, the setting couldn't allow it. And something told her that Ian wouldn't allow it either.

Drake

Maisie's words had stayed with him, despite how dismissive he'd been to her face. And he decided that this time, he was actually going to try... and that had been his only needle, so there wasn't exactly any other good way to take his drugs, so he'd flushed the remainder down the toilet, but kept the weed. After doing so and then laying in the bathroom crying over his flushed life, Drake had taken his stuff and gone to find a room to stay in, which happened to be with Mason and some of his friends. Drake hadn't had the heart to go crawling back to Maisie and Aaron and see if they would share a room with him again.

Now, it was the next day, and some withdrawal symptoms had set in. By all appearances, it just looked like Drake had a simple stupid cold, and he'd even taken some medication to try and offset the fever and the pounding headache, and the sick feeling in the pit of his stomach. At least for the most part, he could paint on a smile and people would even notice there was something wrong with him. Unless they touched him and realized that he was burning up.

Drake had plans, though. He was going to do it. Today, he was going to ask Belle the big question, and he was nervous beyond belief. It hadn't taken a good couple hours the previous night to get Mason's blessing, but now that that was in place, Drake was ready for this. He'd gotten himself dressed for the outdoors, in a cute little scarf and a hat, and his old coat, and was now heading off to find Belle, which didn't take long. She lit up any room that she was in, demanding everyone to shut up and pay attention to her. In a way that wasn't purposeful or anything, mind you. Drake had already heard about her ride up with Zach, and he was glad that someone had been there with her since Carter and Mason had drawn the line at letting Belle in the car, too.

"Hey, Belle!" He said, sniffling a little bit as he walked up to her, a bright smile forced onto his face. "I was wondering if you wanted to like... go for a walk out in the snow with me or something? Before the food is done." His heart was pounding in his chest while he waited for Belle to respond and after she agreed, Drake took her hand and led her outside.

His eyes were focused on Belle, his smile only growing more as he walked with her. "So do you... uh... want to try the snowboarding thing? Do you snowboard or ski?" Drake did neither, and he was kind of scared to even try.

“Kanen likes girls in bikinis! This one time—“ Daniel was swiftly cut off as Kanen grabbed the back of his chair and nonchalantly tipped his little brother back to keep him quiet. Kanen honestly had no idea what Daniel was about to say, but it was bound to be embarrassing. If there was one thing Daniel lacked, it was a filter. Especially when it came to Kanen. Daniel just seemed to love making a fool out of his older brother. “Daniel, go inside and put some damn clothes on.” Kanen ordered, watching Daniel get up and wave goodbye to Hunter (and make a few obscene gestures when Kanen was no longer looking.)

With Daniel gone, Kanen looked back to Hunter. After last night, Kanen was pretty sure he had the upper hand here. Hunter definitely seemed like the type of girl that wasn’t used to guys telling her ‘No.’ So after last night, when Kanen had simply left her hanging, Kanen was pretty sure he was on her mind. Which was only fair. Kanen had, afterall, spent the better half of his night searching through instagram and twitter posts to try and find her name. Sure, he probably could’ve just asked on social media, but he didn’t want Hunter to know he was interested. Kanen wanted Hunter to chase him. Not the other way around.

He took a step towards the hot tub, squatting down by the side and setting his sunglasses on the ground. “How long are you going to keep this up, huh?” He mocked. He sat back slowly until he was no longer squatting before taking his shoes off and rolling his pants up enough to let his legs hang down into the water.

With his sunglasses off, Kanen didn’t even try to hide himself admiring her. His eyes moved across her figure, distorted by the water in the hot tub, but beautiful all the same. “If you’re just scared, you can always have Daniel. I promise he’s a lot..softer..than I am. Less likely to break your pretty little heart.”
