My idea with this is to have it be something like Zootopia only it's years back and set in the British Isles with fictional names and places. Humans do not exist, but elemental magic does.
My idea is that there is a unique species of Firefly/bee insects that extra a kind of mist when they fly. Their glow is also corresponding to an element (red for fire, green for earth, etc) Each season, these insects appear and "fertilize" the magic in the areas they visit.
The magic has not only give the animals unique abilities, but it has also increased their intelligence, and over time, genetics as well. The coming and going of these unique insects is called Flyker.
The animals have established much over the span of several generations. It is the reign of Elaine, a Coyote widowed after the sudden death of her husband, a wolf who's body had been found in the forest after a Flyker celebration. Without an Heir, the Coyote Queen is beside herself with doubt and calls upon her people to create a council to lead the people. The Nine Tails was created with nine seats and the Queen at the head. The land was at peace again.
This is meant to have an open world feel where we can build plots and stories together with a long-term group. Let me know if you're interested!
