CURRENT DATE AND LOCATION
Mateisk, Alaska
October 12th, 2015
First Week of Snowfall
Background Information
The first week of snow came in late for one of the larger towns towns of Yukon-Koyukuk in Alaska. Mateisk, Alaska was booming in the early 1960s, with a boom of tourism and people because of the Cold War. Soldiers moved to Alaskan towns to defend from the "Soviet threat." After the Cold War was dismissed and the US and the USSR were no longer strong enemies, the now large town of Mateisk was nearly empty. With only a few dozen family lineages in the town.
In 2012, a boom of tourists and eventual residents hit Mateisk. The town was renovated to meet the day's standards and hotels, restaurants, and residential areas were expanded. Mateisk was nothing compared to the cities of Fairbanks or Anchorage, but it was larger than most towns in it's area of Alaska.
Story Involving You!
You are new to the town of Mateisk. Whether you moved here from searching up notable Alaskan towns, or you stumbled upon it on a vacation, you are in the town of Mateisk. On October 12th, 2015, it is the first week of snowfall for the town of Mateisk. Not only is everyone, including you, is preparing for the onslaught of snow, but some town members are stocking up on ammunition. A herd of elk have moved in from the east after being pushed away from their usual mating grounds. Journalists say this will be a good fall for hunting, and meat will be plentiful.
Only until today, has it been a so far harmless first week. The night of the 12th, an evil force moves in from the east along with the elk herd. The outskirts of Mateisk start to go dark, the people of the area disappearing and coming up dead. The natives of the area know what this is.
"Wendigo." They say. Most folk don't know what the Wendigo are, but the natives are all too familiar with them. The natives tell the people of Mateisk of the Wendigo.
"The Wendigo are deathly beasts, larger than a man, skin and bones of a deer or elk, and a human shape. The Wendigo attack humans without hesitation, and if they are not attacking you directly. They are possessing you, they possess you to do their biding. Kill, even eat, your fellow humans. The Wendigo will wipe this town off the map."
Roleplay Information
The basic story is that you, and the other roleplayers, are trapped in Mateisk by the ancient evil force of the Wendigo. You must survive until the Wendigo leave or find a way out of the town, both seem near to impossible. Your means of surviving are up to you, and here's hoping you know what you're doing, or you'll die.
I will be participating in, as well as overseeing, the roleplay. Overseeing as in watching each character's movements, and judging them, whether you will live or die. What will most likely happen is that I ask for you to discuss your plan of action with me over PM, so I can prejudge or actions.
Everything is allowed except anything out of the norm. You cannot be a Inuit shaman that is immune to the Wendigo, you cannot automatically know their weakness, if they have any, your a human that knows nothing about the Wendigo. Rules about characters and the roleplay will be posted on the thread, if this gets enough interest.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you participate in the roleplay.
