Fantasy welcome to the Agies empire

Huntertabbysandshark3

The lord of randomness and the warp
"Welcome adventurer to the land of Algem, where magic is industrial, so you want a teleport spell then buy one for a low price at any spell cube vendor? Need to get somewhere take a handy teleportation circle.. for a small fee of course. Perhaps you would rather join the newly formed tech-priest the odd little cult that sees the magical technology as god-like? Or perhaps you're an engineer of the great Markus wizardry guild or even a scholar from the rikktell collage? Many many adventures wait for you and the emperor wishes for your presence." - a pamphlet from the empire

so that's the pitch kinda, deciding to make a world where magic is heavily industrialized its simply just technology to everyone so the vibe would be post-industrialisation, with similar pollution themes and the like.

This is a world where magic is commonplace. And used in everyday life wizard and sorcerers and simply a job and rarely even given these names anymore, where for a price you can simply buy an answer to your issue and long-range communication is a free public service.

There's even a species of strange armored being form across the sea that seem to nullify magic close to them and use strange devices that run on electricity trading sulfur for precious "Geldium" an essential shielding component in modern technology

but the basic idea is the group of adventures will be all in debt in some form or another and offered a chance to clear it by a... dubious benefactor, in a quest stop a problem with magic..

Ok so here are the basics setting rules

.magic is everywhere and extremely common if it’s magical it’s been industrialized
. Even a simple peasant knows some form of magic
. Spell can be bought in what’s called a “spell cube” a one-time usage box made of a crystal called geldium
. It’s not magitek it’s just referred to as technology since there is nothing to compare it to aside from geldek tech
. Religion is not really a big thing most Devine magic is simple just a set of rituals so you get your powers, the gods don’t seem to mind that much anyway

i'm interested in this!! it'd be fun to play a character who knows maybe the bare minimum of magic and has more basic martial prowess... it'd be interesting to see how they get by. hope other people get in here!!
