Welcome To Milky Way City, the city of the Zodiac's and Martial Arts. (Worldbulding and discussion?)

GalaxyFang

The Galaxy howls.
Hello there folks, as stated in my intro posting here I'm a real big fan of the Martial Art's and what not, and of course that extends into fighting games and anime well but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

This thread is a potential discussion/world building for a setting I'm working on yet It suffers from being legit RP Scene in it's own right or just being highlighted in the background for one of my own characters.

Without any further delay let's talk, discuss and what not.

FAQ's so that things are a bit easier.

Modern/Fantasy/sci-fi??: Modernish with splashes of futuristic cyberpunk. There's no flying cars, but there is Holographic technology and limited matter teleportation, a lot of kinks are still being worked out for safely teleporting organic materials.

The Overall Power Level?: VEGETA IT'S OVER... ok ok ok put down the bolter! To be fair, we're not going to blow up planet's that's for damn sure, at the worst city blocks would be wrecked.

So I hear you like fighting eh? What exactly inspired this setting?

Video Games: Rival Schools, Street-Fighter, Tekken Dead Or Alive ,Virtua Fighter Real Bout Fatal Fury/King Of Fighters. to name a few

Anime/Manga: Samurai-Girl Real Bout High School, Airmaster, Tenjou-Tenge

Welcome to Milky Way City. But this city isn't like any ordinary city... In essence this city is the world's first modern city state/pan-nation. Originally an effort to reconstruct a large portion of Japan shortly after the end of world war two. Milky way city has evolved into a large metropolis of it's own, but with one major difference, Most of the inhabitants in this city are martial artist's.

This City is also known for having the majority of it's building's and street's named after the zodiac signs, as well as it's shape which from space look's like a huge spiral galaxy Island connected towards Japan.

-Major landmarks-

Milky Way City has several noticeable landmarks. Four Mountains and Rivers, each named after one of the 4 cardinal beasts, yet the beautiful and important of these landmarks are the 13 golden buildings each one named after the 13 signs of the golden zodiac.

Sagittarius Observatory

Libra Courthouses/City Hall

Virgo Hospital

Aquarius Hotel/Water Park

Leo Stadium

The Kenka School District.

Since Milky Way City is a rather large school, it's pretty much common sense to have a large amount of school's. Yet even with the youth of Milky Way City, the urge to prove one's superiority has created an fighting league of sort's. Governed by and for the students. It's grown to the point that the student's call the collection of every single school within the city the Kenka School District.

Now that the wall of text is out of the way, lets get down to the tl;dr. Further Expansion upon the city, Idea's suggestions, discussions? Is the whole city a martial arts school?

I have some other questions, but I need that one out of the way first. I'm intrigued :)

In some way's it could be considered that but hence I said most of the people there are martial artist's. But It's more of a huge metropolitan city that's like a mecca of martial arts, sports, technology and what not. What other questions do have

Well, the question that strikes me is; Why has it become the home of so many martial artists? Do you have any backstory in mind for the setting, why things are as they are?

Mnn I sorta do, A part of it was due to me being a fan of crossovers. As for the other reason's I was thinking that some of the people that funded the original buildings for Milky Way City were Avid Martial Artist's in their own right. And Milky way city was built shortly after the end of WW2 So there needed to be a way to vent out frustrations on all sides. As time went on, Milky Way City grew becoming the mecca of fighting and technology it is today.
