Welcome to Hell
College. A lot can be said about it. It’s stressful, it’s challenging, it’s absolutely crazy. It’s also where most people meet at least a few good friends.
That was the case for this group of eight misfits who, over the course of several years, became completely inseparable. They did everything together, from chilling to partying to traveling, they were always seen together. Eventually, they earned the nickname 'the pack', which just sort of...stuck.
They were accurately described as overly loud, and probably obnoxious to outsiders, but none of them gave a good damn. They had a blast, and...most of them got pretty good grades.
Eventually, as all things will, their time came to an end.
Through tearful goodbyes, they swore to keep in touch, but of course, life gets in the way. Weekly phone conferences and skype sessions became monthly, and soon melted away altogether.
It’s been five years since last they exchanged anything more than a rushed email or two, and one of them is getting married. In an effort to reconnect before one of their friends ‘loses their freedom’ they decide to take a trip.
Months’ worth of meticulous planning done by one of the friends has led them here.
They're being dropped off by a plane, scheduled to come back in exactly 14 days. They island is about twenty square miles, and aside from the two cabins they've rented, there's only one other home. According to the pilot who's been running people here for over a decade an old hermit lives up there.
He warns them not to go near him, saying he's violent. It's something they dismiss as a simple ghost story.
Once they land, they're met with a veritable paradise.
Ten solid miles of forest and trails, waterfalls, and two cabins all to themselves. Best of all, they're surrounded by the ocean and have been granted use of a motorboat that seats 10.
Immediately they begin making plans.
With no neighbors to speak of (or maybe at all), and all the freedom they could possibly want, they plan to spend two solid weeks in a drunken stupor, playing games, and catching up.
For the first few days, it’s absolute bliss.
They spend their time hiking, fishing, swimming, catching up, sitting around the bonfire and swapping ghost stories, and all in all, just enjoying life.
Secrets are told. Old flames are rekindled. Fights break out, but are quickly put to rest. It would seem that nothing could possibly be better than their little slice of paradise.
On the morning of day three, the first person is found dead.
It’s obviously a murder, and it looks as though their body has been…staged.
Panic ensues.
The only logical explanation is the old hermit that's supposed to live all the way on the other side of the island. They hadn't seen anyone throughout their hikes...but if he's lived up here this whole time...then...maybe?
Their first response it to call for help, but the phone lines have been cut, and their cellphones have no reception. Through tears, swearing, and plenty of panic, they decide to run for the boat. With emotions high, the weapon wielding group tries to make their way to the boat, but the fuel line has been cut.
It becomes clear that the only options they have is to search out the hermit and kill him, or wait for the plane.
Neither are very appealing options.
The way back is dark, and tempers are flaring.
They board up the home, and while no one manages much sleep at all, the morning light brings a second victim.
The doors were bolted closed, the windows were locked.
There are only two options. Either the murderer had been inside the whole time, or one of them is responsible.
Accusations fly, and one by one more victims fall.
Everyone has a reason to be suspected. Those reasons will come up during casual conversation before the killings begin. I have a few suggestions below, and you’re free to message me your own, I’ll approve it if it’ll work.
- A string of murders has happened in your home town over the course of the last few months.
- You've fallen on hard times, and are now associated with a gang.
- You recently failed the psych exam that would allow you to become an FBI agent. All your work in college is for naught. You’re going to spend the duration of your life as a detective, and you’re salty about it.
- Your SO disappeared two years ago, you were implicated in the suspected murder, but with no body and no evidence, it was expunged.
Obviously your character has a chance of dying. This is why I’m only looking for 3 other players at the moment. Each person will play two characters that way they won’t be completely out of the RP if their character is killed.
I’ll have a serial killer application up soon. PM it to me!!!! Do not post it!!! I’ll pick one person the day before the RP starts to be the killer.
