  • years have passed. most don't even know the date anymore. 2083? 3000? nobody's sure. nobody wants to think too hard about it, either, in fear that the government will find something is wrong with you and take you away. they say that they'll put you in a place where you can recover and mend; they say that with every patient, or victim, that didn't obey the rules or had a sickness. but the truth is, you don't go to a safe haven to live the rest of your life in peace. no, you're killed. most don't believe it. most don't have time to think about it, because they're too busy trying to stay alive and keep their family together and healthy. everything's a mess. theres debris everywhere and people fight to get supplies. skeletons litter the earth. its literally a dog eat dog world. survival of the fittest. there are mutants, there are risk takers, there are normal people and there are cowards. the government makes announcements that there will be fixations and everything will be back to normal soon, and everyone is equal and receive equal. some believe, some don't. but if you don't believe, keep it to yourself or you might be taken to the "safe haven" next. maybe its better to go to the "safe haven". maybe the place where you go when you die will be better than earth now. it has to be. the government has control of everything. you have a farm? the government takes the milk, but you still have to milk the cows. you have to slaughter the pigs, but the government takes the meat. the government tries to divide everything equally amongst civilians but everyone's in frantic, panic mode. they'll do whatever they can to stay alive. of course, like most societies gone wrong, there will be a group of teenagers who try to rebel. will they be punished? definitely. will some be killed along the way? probably. will citizens side with them? maybe. will they succeed? hopefully.

    the current plot is that the children of superheroes have all found each other and have been together for a few months, planning a way to take back their earth and restore everything to normal. the government doesn’t know they exist - they thought they wiped out all the superheroes. they killed or took their parents away, but unbeknownst to them, the superheroes had kids and now the kids are back for vengeance. they are living in the abandoned, broken down avengers helicarrier that has been merged with the fallen space satellite of the justice league. there will be fighting, disagreements, love interests and more. some think that they should be deemed “leader”, and some have different ideas of what they should do.

    "i have bacon in the oven!"
    a cheerful voice rang out around 9am on the helicarrier. he figured some people would be mad at him for waking them up, but he knew they'd soon forgive him after they realized he was cooking for them. half of the crew probably couldn't really hear him anyways since the helicarrier was so large; but the lucky few that could hear him would get first dibs at the food! at least once a week, he would wake up early to cook for whoever would eat it. even though who pretended they didn't want it, usually caved in as soon as they walked into the kitchen area. he also had a few breakfast potatoes he was searing on top of the stove. they would probably be burnt by the time he was done with them, but he was giving his best effort at least!

    but most importantly: he had to make sure his best friend got food before it was all gone. he nearly skipped down the hall, knocking on morgan's door.
    "morgan!"
    he called, putting his face against the door.
    "i'm making food again. make sure you get some before the others do! i don't want you to like, you know..starve or anything!"
    what a guy, always looking out for his bestie! he never stopped to think that maybe morgan didn't care if she got food or not. but wilbur wanted to make sure she did! he turned to scoot back into the kitchen, using his right web shooter to open the fridge door and then using his other web shooter to yank out the syrup and ketchup.
    "and we need to talk about today's agenda!"
    he added to whoever was on their way and could hear him.

    "i'm awake!"

    morgan shot up in her desk chair as her name was called, feeling like shit. her entire body ached, including a pounding in her head, and she knew she'd fallen asleep at her desk... again. she'd been living at the helicarrier for a little over a month, yet she still didn't feel at home. sure, she'd never really felt 'at home' since her parents died almost a decade ago, but at least then she wasn't nervously toiling the nights away in an attempt to do something useful with herself. in truth, she was nervous- she'd never been surrounded by so many other people, all the children of heroes just like her. they were supposed to know what it was like, right? morgan wasn't sure.

    oh wait, wilbur. right. morgan gave him a small smile, trying to not seem as tired as she really was. "thanks, wil. i'll be their in a sec." wilbur was one of the few people morgan was actually able to make friends with in her time there- he somehow didn't seem to care that she had practically no experience with interacting with other people, or that she preferred to squirrel up in her room or fix something random around the ship than go out and do something. they'd somehow made it work, she guessed. and now, he was reminding her to eat, which morgan was thankful for- not only was his cooking surprisingly good, but she also had a tendency to... forget to eat. she wasn't used to having regular access to food, and she'd gone long enough without it that she just automatically ignored signs of hunger. it was nice, knowing she had someone looking out for her.

    morgan stood up slowly, unsuccessfully attempting to rub the sleep out of her eyes. she looked over herself- she supposed she didn't have to change, since the hoodie and leggings she was wearing weren't too dirty. she walked down the halls, eyes to the sky, and she was surprised by just how many things needed fixing. dangling wires, sputtering air filters, lights on the fritz- the whole ship was a project and a half, and for some reason, it stirred something in morgan. she saw it not just as something to keep herself busy, but a challenge.

    morgan finally made her way to the kitchen, tying her hair up in a messy ponytail. she attempted to grab some bacon from the oven tray, but quickly pulled her hand back, the searing heat on her fingertips alerting her to the fact that wilbur had only just taken it out of the oven.     "shit!" she cursed, popping her fingers in her mouth in an attempt to relieve some of the pain.

    wilbur heard morgan enter the kitchen, and his face beamed - however, he had his hands full whenever she reached for the bacon so he couldn't stop her
    "oh-!"
    he gasped, whipping around as his senses tingled to let him know she was about to reach - but it was too late, and she was burning herself.
    "shoot! are you okay?"
    he quickly asked her, setting down the items in his hand to rush over to her aid and look at her finger. it was definitely red, there was a chance it could blister - but it's not like anything could be done about it now. he sure wished he could take her pain away, though.
    "here - i think there's an ice pack somewhere in..."
    he started mumbling to himself as he quickly opened fridge doors and freezer doors. he couldn't find an ice pack, although, he did find
    "here's some frozen peas!"
    he turned around and shoved it into her arms, hoping that would help subdue the pain on her finger.

    "i'll get you a plate! hang tight. ice that finger!"
    he commanded, respectfully, of course - and then he turned to grab a plate, and so as not to burn himself on the bacon either, he used his web shooters to snag a piece and then put it on the plate - and he did that for four pieces. never once stopping to think that some people found the whole web thing weird. would you eat a piece of bacon that someone grabbed with a web? probably not. at least the web came off cleanly..
    "here!"
    he chirped, pushing it onto the table for her.
    "i'll start making plates for everyone so nobody else burns themself. maybe you should put like, i don't know..neosporin on it? does it still hurt?"
    he fretted.

    It had not been long since Jeanie and her best friend/mother Brandish had joined up with the interesting crew of people but she had already met so many interesting people. There were people like Amanda and Gavy who had incredible magic that spent most of their days meditating in their weird room. ‘I still don’t get it.’ Despite being as strong as they were Amanda and Gavy never really let themselves go, she could only imagine what they could be capable of if they weren’t so strict. And there was Luca who she already had gotten into one too many fights because of their conflicting personalities. Of course, none of them compared to Brandish, but maybe she could get used to being in a group. ‘Dad used to do it.' Jeanie smiled at the memory of her father. She would try for him and Brandish. Jeanie was awake even before nine a.m. getting her morning target practice and getting to know the layout of the helicraft. It was by coincidence that was by the kitchen when she smelt the bacon that Wilbur was cooking up. Smiling, she jogged past the kitchen to go get Brandish. On her route, she bumped shoulders with another person in the hall.

    Jeanie instinctively whipped around to catch the arms of the one she had collided with, even if they were not at risk of falling she was just doing what her gut told her. She awkwardly held onto the person that she now realized was Benji, she connected her brown eyes with his own and smiled at him. “Hey Benji, I missed you there.” She didn’t even seem to notice his white skin. “Oh, I’m still holding onto you, sorry.” She awkwardly pulled her hands away, trying to figure out what to do with them before shoving them in her pockets. She knew that he was the son of hulk and all but her brain didn’t seem to be at all bothered about it. “Anyway, I am gonna get Brandish since the food is ready, see you later.” Jeanie inwardly cringed before shuffling past the taller teen boy to reach her original destination. All the way to the older woman’s room she got to replay that moment and try to pretend that she didn’t make things worse than they needed to be. She had finally managed to drown it out with other noise by the time she reached Brandish’s room.

    She reached up with her balled-up fist to knock on her door. “Brandish food has been made apparently, are you interested?” It was still a weird thing for her, she was so used to hunting for something for her and Brandish to eat. Jeanie waited for a response from the warrior as she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet.

as he stumbled along his words, he finally realized it was jeanie - he often saw her around, she was one of the closest ones to his age. his cheeks burned so brightly red, he thought they could burn a finger upon touch. she was so much more calm than him though; she was even grabbing onto him to keep steady, which almost embarrassed benji more. being touched? by a female?
"no - no its okay-ay,"
he quickly told her, suppressing a cough out of nervousness. but almost as quickly as the interaction had happened, she was walking off to go get food. he watched her go, a little sinking feeling of sadness falling into his heart. sure, he was nervous to interact with her, but she still had talked to him! thats more than most people on this ship did. most thought he was a monster.

and so, he did something he never really thought he would do; he turned to follow her to where she walked into the kitchen.
"hey, uh-"
he started again, and then his eyes widened when he noticed brandish beside her now. oh, no. oh no.
"uh - n- never mind."

    morgan flapped her hands, the pain clouding her thoughts to where she could barely hear what wilbur was saying to her. when he suddenly threw something to her, she struggled to catch it, almost dropping it before getting a secure grip. the cold sliced through the pain, temporarily numbing her finger as she attempted to recollect her thoughts. she tapped her foot erratically, before remembering- cold water. i need to run it under cold water. morgan's father had never been a great cook, and some of her earliest memories were of her mother scolding him as she treated his burns.

    morgan ran over to the sink, turning the faucet and feeling warm water flowing over her hand. she placed the frozen peas over her hand, the dinky system working to provide her with some cold water to help her burn. a few seconds later, the pain had almost completely subsided. morgan walked over to the table, putting her head down as wilbur made her a new plate of bacon. it's too early for this.

    morgan picked up her head as wilbur slided the plate over to her, giving a small smile of appreciation. "you do too much, wilbur." morgan picked up a piece of bacon- using a fork, this time- and chewed it thoughtfully. wilbur was always caring about everyone's well-being, and morgan assumed it would be exhausting. he really deserves a break.

    a few seconds later, two new faces showed up in the kitchen, aidan and tetra. morgan didn't mind them much- they were some of the only people on board that understood her tech ramblings. when aidan commented on her burnt fingers, morgan began replying with, "no, i just got burnt-" before realizing he was most likely joking. that was one thing about her, that she just never got jokes. she assumed aidan wouln't be making fun of her, though. hopefully.

    morgan's ears perked up when she heard aidan mentioning possibly getting the ship up and running again. "well, that's going to be difficult. one of the engines are shot, the two left propellers are severely damaged, and the stabilizers are probably broken too, but if we can find the right materials, i think we can..." she trailed off, realizing she was rambling. ...again.

It wasn’t the noise around her that roused Gavriel from her slumber, noise from the outside didn’t tend to penetrate the room she and Amanda shared. Instead, the feeling of soft black fur rubbing against her face was what reeled the platinum blonde beauty in from her dreams. Multi-colored eyes fluttered open as Gavy noted the sensation of a rumbling purr and soft fur now against her neck. The young mutant smiled sweetly as she glanced down and spotted the mystical blue-green eyes of Ms. Gavriel looking back at her. She still couldn’t help but chuckle as she thought of the name Amanda had assigned to the cat. It was so odd to have a pet named after her but Amanda had insisted and Gavriel had been too amused to debate it thoroughly.

Sitting up in her bed Gavy scooped the black cat up into her arms and gave her snuggled. Her plump, naturally pouty lips pressed soft kisses against the kitty’s face and nose and were met with warm purrs. “You are so spoiled.” She chuckled sleepily as she gave the cat another loving hug. Her words were met with a comedic mew and Gavy couldn’t help but shake her head as she stood up with the black cat in her arms. “Good thing we can agree on that.” She added sweetly as she tiptoed across the unusually large room towards a glass door that led to the personal garden she and Amanda looked after.

All of this was possible through the magic the two of them had combined to make a perfect sanctuary. Their room had been just another set of beds on the helicarrier until a month or so ago when Amanda and she realized they could make it so much more if they concentrated and worked together. Now they had a blissful hideaway where they could retreat to when everything else became too much. Icy blue and mint green eyes scanned the garden as Gavy wandered through it, her gaze suddenly settling on a perfectly red fruit. Bending down Gavy wrapped her slender fingers around the fruit and plucked it easily off its stem. Shuffling back into the cozy sleeping area the blonde smiled as she tiptoed over to her roommate’s bed.

“Amanda, look.” She called softly as she held the strawberry out to her still sleeping friend.

Waking up early was something Kenna was used to. Being in the dark for too long, even when sleeping, tended to leave her with knots in her stomach. It was a reminder of the days spent in darkness she had spent with her mother’s body just an inch or two out of her reach and wondering when she would join her. She got enough sleep to get by each night but just barely. She had been awake since before the sun was up and to no one’s surprise the young Wind Rider had been flying around the perimeter doing a few security checks. When around others Kenna could be quite the goof but it was still clear that she took the security of their situation and home very seriously. She did routine checks of the territory, making sure their perimeters hadn’t been breached and when they had she made sure she knew all threats or allies that had made their way in.

As she flew Kenna noticed the skies were not as empty as they usually were. Above the helicarrier a figure hovered and for a moment Kenna observed them as they seemed not to notice her. Suddenly the girl began to descend towards the carrier at a velocity that Kenna knew would certainly leave a dent if not more. Not sure if the stranger was hostile or not Kenna cut through the sky to follow her and back up her friends and family if this stranger meant them any harm. The tickle of electricity began to rush through the air as the daughter of Storm prepared for what might possibly be a fight.

With grace the young woman threaded herself through the hole left by the stranger. Just before she did she heard the girls announcement and landed on the rubble behind her, the charge in the air dissipating for the most part as she landed. It seemed this stranger was like them and by the looks of things she didn’t want to pick a fight.

Looking around Kenna soundlessly sighed and lifted her hands to sign out “What the hell is happening here? I thought we had doors for a reason.” Her hands moving rapidly in exasperation at the repairs that would be needed in order to fix the hole in their ceiling. “When I said I wanted a skylight in here I wasn’t being serious.”

Shayla

The smell of bacon was enough to get Shayla’s attention as she tore another practice bot’s head clear off its body. Her naturally sun-kissed skin was coated in a thin layer of sweat from her morning workout in the make-shift danger room on the helicarrier-satellite base the group had managed to scrounge together over the course of what she assumed was several months. She and Tetra hadn’t been here from the beginning but they had been here long enough for Shayla to know everyone’s smell easily enough.

Sheathing her claws without so much as a wince, Shayla turned and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat off of her face and neck. Her shirt and pants were stained with fresh blood from wounds that had already healed but left her clothes slashed and tattered. She didn’t really care though because all she could focus on was the mouthwatering scent of fresh bacon that was drifting through the halls. Following her nose, Shayla made her way towards the kitchen where she could detect the scents of several members of the group already mingling together.

Suddenly a crashing sound rang in her ears and the scent of someone new hit her nostrils. Instantly an animalistic growl rumbled in Shayla’s throat as she unsheathed her claws and rushed towards the kitchen. She was pumped up from her workout, hungry, and her territorial animalistic senses were kicking in big time. It was clear to anyone who saw her that Shayla was ready for a fight.

As she drew closer to the kitchen however her sensitive ears picked up on the sound of voices and she made out the introduction of the intruder. Not convinced that they were as innocent as they might appear Shayla kept her claws out but slowed her pace. She didn’t mind showing she was always armed and dangerous but wouldn’t pick a fight if the others had decided against it…yet.

Entering the room Shayla looked over at the stranger with a predatory gaze, making it clear that she was not a fan of someone breaking into her home unannounced. Her claws remained out as she stabbed a few pieces of bacon and walked over to lean against the wall as the others interacted with this new girl. She didn’t care who she was or what her intentions were, she didn’t like her territory being invaded without invitation.

Brandish

Standing in front of the mirror in her room Brandish smiled at herself as she wore the face of Bailey Wayne, then Morgan Stark, then Wilbur Parker. It was an exercise she did almost every morning in the hidden depths of her room. She practiced each of the group's faces, voices, behaviors, constantly working to perfect their essence in case she needed to use them one day. Finally, once she was complete with all members of the ragtag team of hero and villain spawn she returned to her natural form. Her glowing golden eyes scanned her body as she took in the deep blue scales and bright red hair. Only two people alive had seen her in this form, herself and Jeanie. It was not a form she dared to show to others because for them to see it would mean she trusted them with her true self, something she never did lightly.

Looking over at the clock on her desk she noticed the time and returned her gaze to the mirror. When her eyes landed on the glass she did not see her mutant self but rather her chosen human form. The beautiful ebony-haired beauty she became for the rest of the world to see. She gently pushed her hair out of her face and examined her work, taking in the perfection she saw and loving it. When others looked in the mirror it was often that they found flaws, Brandish never did because she could become whatever version of beauty she desired to be in the blink of an eye.

Her attention was drawn away from the mirror when she heard a knock at the door followed by Jeanie’s voice. Swiftly she crossed the room and opened the door to look at the young girl she had grown quite fond of. “Who cooked?” She asked as soon as the door was open. “Because if it was Sigurd you can kill me now.” She added with a roll of her eyes, making it quite clear that she was less than thrilled with the Asgardian’s cooking style.

    the kitchen went from just him to around seven people really really fast, and they all were being loud now. it didn't help that aidan and tetra made an appearance together - wherever tetra went, the room became a carnival. he was now fretting over morgan's fingers yet also trying to get plates together for the newcomers - however it seemed like they didn't care much for plates, as they were grabbing at things with their hands. he almost forgot for a moment that morgan had been burned, and right as he was about to say something, he was being interrupted by aidan asking about the ship. he wanted to get it running again?
    "the ship?"
    he echoed, blanking for a second - then snapped back to reality.
    "oh - our ship. yeah. i mean, sure - well, maybe, but i don't know if it will be a distraction? like, the ship is kinda big, yanno, what if we get caught flying or something? i just kinda worry about that..."
    now he was rambling, too. however, his rambles were quickly cut off whenever someone was slamming through the helicarrier.
    "good grief! i think you guys should worry about fixing the hole first..."
    he mumbled, and then whenever he noted all the panicking he stepped in.

    but nobody seemed to do anything yet, everyone just was up in arms. he knew if he didn't act soon though, tetra would be mauling her legs.
    "okay, okay, everyone hang on - everyone stop-"
    he quickly mused, his voice a little higher pitched to show he was stressed.
    "hey. hello. um, hi, welcome alessia, this is, um...our hideout."
    he quickly stumbled upon his words, trying to figure out how to quickly assess the situation.
    "i see you're not normal. so you're one of us. wait no - that sounded bad - i don't mean like, you're not normal. i'm sure you are normal! you seem like a very.. um, intelligent and beautiful girl - but like, not in a weird way, i'm just saying that-"


    okay. cut it out wilbur. get to the point.
    "i'm spiderman."
    he finally announced.
    "and this is starlord's son. we are all working together. the government took over."
    he glanced over at kenna as she signed a few choice words, and he cringed inwardly. he didn't know what was going on either!
