They wouldn't be able to clear the cancer, no , of course. But they can still Get you back on your feet a bit anyway.

I suppose the nurse would have to do a quick blood test to give a transfusion - Nie is bleeding out. If she is any good, or there's a doctor, they will realize the problem within days...

I think first they would attribute the symptoms to him being really beaten up and malnourished, just like Nie himself. Looking up the results better would make them suspicious...
