Also, I just got an idea. So the Eight Houses I mentioned in the lore aren't all from Byrne. Some of them left their home in the South, and came up into Byrne. They fought the native Houses at first, but they all eventually came together to form the Eight Houses, thus explaining why there's so much genetic diversity.

Well, in terms of roles, we have two left (there weren't many to begin with.) You can play the leader of the Loyalists, aka supporting the bastard child of the king, or the cousin of the king, the leader of the Councilists who supports themselves. There isn't much required for either, just that the Councilst leader is the King's cousin, and the Loyalist leader is the commander of the royal guard.

Can I play a councilist loyalist? Or some sort of royalty loyalist? Or even neutral councilists?

Btw, how far along are we talking in terms of tech? Simply medieval or we sticking a toe into a bit of the gunpowder age?

Sure! You can be whatever you want to be! And in terms of tech, this would be mid to late medieval times, so maybe somewhere there's gunpowder, but it's very uncommon.

There's more deities and religions out there, but the Church heavily enforces itself on the people, so worshipping any of them would probably be deadly for you. As for the House, they might rouze suspicion, but nothing more.
I was considering being a faction in/around/beyond the White Mountains that had been subjugated long ago by the Ambercrown Dynasty, and is taking up the civil war as a chance to angle for independence, through diplomacy or force if needed. Although the White Mountains birthed the Ambercrown dynasty in the first place, I thought it was funny that they were being used to exile nobles. So, a wildly diverse faction of exiled nobles, mountain natives, savages from beyond the mountains, and settled western raiders may be interesting to mess around with. A faction that hates itself as much as it hates being part of the Kingdom.

Of course, they would make a show of following the faith of the two-faced Gods, but factions among them would not be super pleased with that. The church would be no friend, but they might be able to make agreements with whoever would be willing to allow them their independence.

Granted, if that idea isn't cool with the lore, I might do somethin else.

That can work! Throwing a wrench in the machine would be nice.
