  • There was a tug on Ricky's shirt as he was about to bring his bags for college outside. Glancing down, he smiled at his baby brother looking up at him with big eyes. "Reggie," he said with a teasing lilt in his voice. "You're going into high school, buddy. Sure you'll be alright without me?" Reggie may have hit puberty, but he'd never quite grown out of his tiny frame. He would always be a baby to Ricky. His beautiful baby brother.

Letting go of Ricky's shirt, Reggie signed, I always miss you, Ricky.

"I'm always a phone call away, buddy. You know that." Ricky pressed his lips to Reggie's forehead and gave his brother one last, lingering hug. "If anyone so much as looks at you the wrong way, I'm grabbing P.K. and we're coming back here, alright?"

Smiling up at him, Reggie held up the sign for "I love you," and Ricky mirrored him. They pressed the pads of their fingers together, their secret handshake of sorts that had acted as reassurance for Reggie since Ricky had started college. "I'll call when move-in day is done. Promise."

With that, Ricky pulled his bags out the door and piled them into the car. It was time to head on back to WDU with his best friend in the world. But first, to P.K.'s house! Can't go to school with your best friend if you don't pick up said best friend first.

    - - -

The trip hadn't been too long, thankfully, but Ricky had never been the biggest fan of it. He would rather be out and walking around than cooped up in a small space for so long. That might have explained why he leaped out of the taxi that pulled up to the school. Stretching his arms above his head, he greeted WDU with a smile. "Ah, Year Three, let's see how this goes."

Ricky had every intention of grabbing his dorm room key and unpacking his bags. Dopey and Doc had already come by and grabbed his things from him. But then, naturally, he saw someone with a cute puppy, and well. He was a sucker for animals. His dad had always been allergic to any sort of furry animal, so he'd never gotten the chance to have a pet himself. He loved them dearly, however, and they were such a distraction. Next thing he knew, he was wandering away from the dorms.

    That was the fatal mistake.

When the onslaught of adorable puppies ended, Ricky looked up and realized he wasn't quite sure where he was. In his defense, he spent most of his time in his dorm, the cafeteria, and his department. And he tended to have P.K. as a navigator. This was a bit of a pickle.

Digging his phone out of his pocket, he dialed the first number on his speed dial. As soon as she picked up, Ricky said in an apologetic voice, "Uh... P.K.? I, uh. Got lost already. Mind helping me find the dorms?"

With a sigh, Jamie shouldered his bag and locked the door behind him. After all this time he still had his apartment from when he worked with the police. He both hated and loved the place, having so many mixed memories attached to the place. He shook his head at his thoughts, hating that he was going through these motions another year. He turned and started down the stairs of his building so he could get to his car.

He'd already loaded it up with all his main luggage, only leaving his laptop and immediate papers in the bag with him now.
"Hopefully this year starts better than last year."
he muttered to himself. Of course he was referring to his turbulent relationship with one Amberly Elliot, a woman he often found it hard to act professional with. Last year...hadn't had a good start.

For once in the past few years he tried to think positively. He'd already met that woman, so he knew how to avoid her now. There wasn't really anything that could go wrong. Sliding into his car he turned the radio on and began the drive out to the school. Luckily it was only a few hours and Jamie didn't mind switching through different radio stations. It would give him time to relax and prepare for the hectic schedule that would no doubt be waiting for him the moment he arrived.

Hours later, as he predicted, by the time he pulled into the lot, there were people everywhere.
"Once more unto the breach..."
he muttered, turning off the car and getting out to grab his suitcase. With everything in hand, he joined in with the crowd, breaking away once he got to the lobby and spotted Edgar. He sighed.

"Edgar,"
he greeted politely, nodding at the other man as he grudgingly handed over his room key. A7, huh? He wondered who he was going to be rooming with this year. If the administrator in charge of rooming assignments was smart they wouldn't put him anywhere near her like they did last year. He winced, remembering that he no doubt caused a lot of problems for his fellow coworkers last year. Here's hoping he can make it up to them this year. It's not like he liked having shouting matches.

Starting up the stairs in the staff dorms, he paused once he reached his floor.
"What the..."
he mumbled, tilting his head in confusion. Taking he few steps forward, he confirmed that yes, there was a student in the staff area. And in front of his room no less. What the hell.

"Can I help you...?"
he began as he approached, only to notice the door to the room was open. Ah, that cleared things up a bit more. Student was probably related to whatever fellow teacher he happened to be rooming with.

Looking over the young woman blocking the door, he vaguely recognized the woman before him.
"Naina, right?"
he asked.
"Is there something wrong?"

Gabriel (m), Chastity

Arielle was relieved that school semester was here once again. As much as she lived and breathed swimming, when summer makes its way to Arielle, she tended to disappear and make up for lost time in her training, competitions and so on. She rarley stayed in one place during the summer for that reason, her competitions gave her an excuse to further away from her family. Mostly her sisters. Oh how she couldn't stand them. Arielle had five other sisters and she can tolerate only one of them, Gemma. Even though Gemma was the epitome of the perfect daughter in their parents' eyes, it didn't go up her head and treated the sisters fair and square. Unlike the middle bunch who thought they were all better than each other. It is why Arielle grew up to be so competitive. Even though she didn't compete against them for their parents' attention. That was just shallow.

Arielle differed a lot from her other sisters, where they were all prim and proper, Arielle was rather relaxed and free. Where they were always studying or working, Arielle was always training and keeping herself active through swimming and dancing. Where they were always following the rules, smile and nod, Arielle was quite true to her heart, following her instincts, making her voice heard. With that she was quite the odd ball of the Fontana's, in a good way she would like to think.

She was so stoked to escape her dialy routine so bad, she had gone a day early. Having it be her second year, she was now well in with the Glee Club and Dance Team which had so much to prepare for the opening performances. With that, one of her best friends and one of the school's most loved blonde, Chastity, messaged her to check whether she could give her a hand in the perfomances preperations and even cleaning out the dorms for the students' arrivals.

At around 5:00 in the morning, a familiar waterfall ringtone started,
"Engh, nooo..."
, she stifled a loud yawn as she stretched, cracking her shoulders and back from the stiffness. Arielle slept at her room. She had already unpacked her belongings back in the dorm but she much rather stayed with Chastity and help her for most of the night. She did not want to face him on the first day. She needed that situation off her mind, at least till after she performed. Before sleeping, she made sure to prepare the outfit she had to wear for the evening after her performances (attached in outfit section).

She had made sure that both uniforms were prepared so that she can get ready together and hopefully manage the day perfectly as possible. Arielle was active and woke up early but by no means is she glad to always wake up early. She needed at least five more alarms to properly wake up. The red-head made an additional effort to wake up and get ready, she knew that her friend must be doing the same. With that, she got up on her feet and yawned once again. With that, she started to quickly get dressed as fast as possible so she could. Arielle was not exactly a thunderbolt of lightning when she did things. Thankfully, she at least didn't like wearing full on make up. Arielle always opted for a more natural look of basic foundation, mascara and a gloss look which was what she did now. Tying her hair up in a high ponytail with some fringed curls hanging on the side, she finished the look with a nice golden ribbon. As she was about to jet out before any of her room mates came, she grabbed the doorknob and as she twisted open, she found the blonde similarly dressed like her in the same uniform that just knocked,
"Ooo impecible timing, dear!"

"I'm up, I'm up and ready to get our dance moves on!"
she said as excited as she could be before stepping out and closing the dorm behind her. It was luck that she did not encounter Gabriel yet. The fact that he was still seeing her sister Arianna fumed her. The best friends were not really in a good place right now. Especially due to the fact that he was still pursuing her.
"Well, honey its been an eventful summer. Tea needed to be spilt. Let's go get the dorm lounge clear and meet up with Ms Navajo and Mrs O'Hara. They're bound to have arrived. Hopefully."

She loved that she could talk to Chastity about anything going on in her life and get a positive outcome from it rather than gloom. However, she noticed her phone and who she was texting, a frown covered her freckled face trying not to swat her phone away,
"How are you still with this asshole? You can do so much better than this guy."

Arielle was well aware of Chastity's current relationship which was a major red flag. The blonde deserved better, deserved the world. Not a guy who just uses her for popularity or when he needs her and simply ignore if it does not benefit him. It was simply nerving and whenever she saw him she just wanted to strangle him. True, relationships are not Arielle's forte, clearly. But she did not tolerate her girl friend being treated like that.

The pair started moving towards the prepared stage where the meeting spot was agreed upon a day before from their leaders. She couldn't believe it.

"Now, remember boys, what do we do to mom and dad?"
Perci asked, bending down so she could look her twin brothers in the eye. While the redhead was more than ready to go back to school with Ricky and get together with her other friends, she would admit to missing her brothers and the mischief they got up to.

"Give 'em hell!" the two boys cheered, highfiving each other. She laughed at their instant response. If nothing else, she could always count on them to bring a smile to her face. Or a scowl whenever they turn their shenanigans onto her.

A beep outside reminded her that she needed to get going. Ricky was here.
"Alright, guys! Be good, for the most part, and look out for Reggie whenever you see him okay?"
she asked, standing back up so she could grab her bags. The two boys nodded before running off. She laughed.
"Bye boys! Bye mom, bye dad!"
she called out, rushing to the door so she could head out with her best friend.

Hurrying into the taxi, she put her bags in the trunk and slid into the back beside Ricky, sending him a bright smile. While she knew her friend hated the drive to and from the school, Perci didn't mind it so much, even though she also preferred to be moving. Luckily this time it went by pretty quickly. In no time, they'd gotten their luggage out of the trunk of the taxi and paid the man before he drove off.

Normally the two friends had planned on grabbing their room keys and dropping their bags off before going to see the festivities but while Perci grabbed her bags and joined the line to get her key, she turned to look for Ricky only to find him nowhere in sight. She sighed, her head falling forward as she closed her eyes. Of course, he wandered off again.
"Wonder if it was a dog or a cat this time..."
she mumbled as she stepped up to grab both hers and Ricky's room keys. Luckily Wendy knew her well enough to be able to get away with handing off her friend's key even though he wasn't with her.

She'd just stepped out of line when her phone rang and she smiled softly, already knowing who it was. At least he realized pretty quickly that he'd gotten lost. She laughed softly at his words once she answered.
"Yeah, I realized."
she told him.
"Luckily I got your key for you. You're probably still by the lot, you need to follow the crowd and get to the lobby okay? I'm still there and we can head to the dorms together."

After giving a few more instructions, she perked up once she saw a familiar blonde head above the crowd.
"Ricky!"
she called out, standing on her tip toes, even in her heels. Curse her short stature.
"Over here!"

  • Trigger Warning: Stillborn Mention/Brief Description

It always seemed to be cloudy whenever she visited the graveyard. Terry was used to it, of course, and frankly, she would have been disturbed if the sun had dared to come out during these moments. There was nothing to be celebrated about the reason for her visits here. She didn't even bring flowers, though she wanted to. Was she a bad mother for not bringing flowers to her child's grave?

Nonetheless, here she was, once again, saying goodbye to baby Riley. Sometimes, when she closed her eyes, she could see the scrunched-up nose and the serene expression on a face that should have been broken in a wail. His twin, little Louise, hadn't stopped crying, so his silence was even more deafening. She had never stopped thinking about it, even when she was thoroughly distracted by school. All the beignets in the world couldn't drown out the sorrow of losing her children.

Well, at least she knew Louise was safe. And happy. And well. Not that she knew what her mother was up to, and frankly, she was almost afraid to officially meet her daughter. She didn't need her, failure of a mother that she was. She was better off where she was.

"I won't be back for a while, sugar," she murmured to the tiny little gravestone, brushing the dust off of the top. "It's time for school again. I've got more freshmen to adopt and more beignets to make. I promise I'll bring you some next time." Her lip wobbled, and she bit it, hard, to still it. "Don't go missing me now, you hear? Keep an eye on your sister for me."

Like always, the grave was silent. But that was alright. She would have been more scared if he'd started talking, after all these years.

    - - -

With her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth, Terry put the final touches on her banquet spread. While there were, of course, other Culinary Arts students who could have helped, everyone knew how much she loved cooking for a crowd. She had her world-famous beignets, drizzled in honey and powdered sugar, waiting in the center, piping hot and fresh out of the oven for the cute, wide-eyed freshmen to partake of. For the older students, she'd made breakfast dishes, mostly pancakes and waffles with toppings they could choose themselves. Not to mention a smattering of jambalaya for those who were still tired and needed something filling for the day. She might have gone a little overboard and made some French toast and bacon, too. Well? What did they all expect? She couldn't leave anyone hanging on today of all days! This was officially her first day of her senior year here at WDU. She'd woken up early and spent the morning preparing all this so it would be nice and toasty in everyone's bellies. Plus, the performers would certainly need something to replenish their energy.

Looking up from her table with satisfied hands on very satisfied hips, Terry glanced around for any of her friends. She had to tamp down the urge to whip off her shirt after all her hard work--from the whispers she was hearing, there was a very disgruntled principal roaming around--but it was hard. At least she'd changed into something more comfy so she didn't look like a sweaty mess in front of everyone.

Vaguely, she wondered if any of her roommates had arrived yet. She knew Chastity had to be here--she was giving the tours, after all--and, speak of the angel, there she was, with Arielle, no less. Excellent. She was in good hands, then. She sent a wave to Chastity and made a mental note to keep an eye out for a certain musclebound idiot who wasn't worth any of her beignets. In fact, he was the only one on this campus on the Beignet Ban list she kept in her head. It didn't need to be written down since only one person was on it, anyway. But she digressed.

Pint and Gidget were surely due to arrive soon, if they hadn't already. She had missed Pint's late night food requests and Gidget's inventions over the summer. Things weren't quite the same without being able to ask Walt to wake up her roommates for a roomie breakfast. Ah, perhaps she'd have to ask Gidget to move in with her after they graduated so she could always have at least one of the three around. The thought made her grin.

As students started filing into the lounge area, possibly to view the performance that the Glee Club and Dance Team were set to give, Terry spread her lips in a wide, welcoming grin and gestured to her food. "Come get some breakfast! Courtesy of the Culinary Arts department!"

Ah, this was definitely going to be a great year.

Arabella M.

filler

  • The Morales family was one to be quite punctual. Because of this, they pulled up to WDU a little before the scheduled move-in time, which allowed Arabella to acquire her key early. Her family helped her move her bags up to her room (but she made sure to give Dopey an appreciative smile). Once that was all settled, her older brother, Alejandro, gave her a hug. "Mom and Dad wanna say hi to Lumiere and Cogsworth--did you have to tell them their old college friends worked here?"

"Of course I did. I love the small coincidences that make up this world and the connections they create." Ara nestled deeper into her brother's arms, finding comfort, as always, in his embrace. Though they weren't related by blood, she'd always felt a special connection to Alejandro. As if they had always been meant to fill these roles in each other's lives. Ara wondered what Professor Kingston would have to say about that. She'd get to find out soon enough!

"Call if you need anything, and I mean anything, okay?" Alejandro bent down and looked her in the eye. "No bottling up until you lose it."

"I promise. But don't worry, Ale. I'll have Chester this year."

That made her brother smile. "Good. I'm glad you get to see him again. Give me all the details later." He gave her a brotherly kiss on the hair before leaving her to her unpacking. Since Ara didn't have much to do until her roommates arrived, she figured now was as good a time as any to sort out her bookshelves. Plural. Ah, she loved how accommodating WDU had been, even if they didn't quite know how much she appreciated that her room always had so many bookshelves for her to fill.

Not twenty minutes later, Ara was sitting on the floor, her books spread around her as she tried to figure out the best organization system. "Obviously those by the same author need to stay together, and I should probably group subjects... But should I factor in height and color? Hm..." She placed some books on her shelves, only to take them off again and start again. Back home, she had piles of books on her floor due to her indecisiveness when it came to her books. It would've been so much easier if she was at a library, where they had a set system of organization. As much as she loved the Dewey decimal system and its slightly more confusing cousin, the Library of Congress system, she liked having things arranged her way.

So distracted was she by her intense organization that she almost missed the voice in the doorway. By the time the signal from her ears registered in her brain, Ara's body had frozen mid-movement. Even when she was distracted, her body knew the feeling of her best friend. Even if they hadn't seen each other physically in years, Ara had always remembered the feeling. (She was actually quite curious as to what Professor Kingston would have to say about that.) "Chester."

Ara leaped up and practically flew across the room, throwing her arms around her little brother. She couldn't remember the last time her cheeks had hurt so much from smiling, but she hoped, with Chester here at WDU, the feeling would be more common. "Oh, you're so big now! You're even taller than me!" She cupped Chester's face in her hands and could see her vision blur behind her glasses. "I'm so, so happy to have you here. You have no idea." She gave Chester another big hug.

The door opened once more, and Ara peeked around Chester to see Penny walk in. "Penny and Patch! I hope you had a good summer!" She rushed out of her doorway to greet the cute little puppy, crouching beside him to scratch him behind the ears. There were many perks to having a roommate as lovely as Penny, and Patch was one of many. Glancing up, Ara gave Penny's companion, Pint, a timid smile. Though she wasn't an expert in psychology by any means as of yet, she wasn't blind, and she knew there was something going on between them. Not that she would ever say as much out loud.

Still greeting the Dalmatian, Ara gestured to Chester. "Penny, Pint, this is Chester! He's practically my little brother, so be nice! I just got him back." She was still grinning from getting to see her best friend again. "This year is sure to be fantastic with you two as my roommates. If we're getting a fourth, I hope they're just as amazing."

amira

From her seat in the waiting area of the airport, Amira sighed, using one hand to massage her temple. She hated airports, they were uncomfortable and crowded and smelly and just a pain to deal with. Unfortunately they were a necessary evil she had to suffer through if she wanted to make it back to campus on time.

"Now boarding flight..."

"Oh thank God,"
she muttered, surging to her feet. Grabbing her bag from where it rested at her feet, she slung it over her shoulder and hurried into the line to board. She held out her ticket to the attendant and was relieved to be one of the first few on the plane.

She hated being one of the last ones to board, she never had enough time to get her carry on stashed away and get settled in her seat. Claiming the window seat for herself, she leaned her head against the transparent material, letting her loose curls act as a makeshift pillow. Now if only this hours long flight would pass quickly.

Unfortunately for her, the flight did not fly by and of course she couldn't manage to fall asleep. So she was stuck squished between someone with no concept of personal space and the window and nothing to do for another...she managed to look at her watch and groaned. Another 2 hours.

"Just end me..."
she grumbled. She was bored and uncomfortable and she just wanted to get to the school and settle in.

It was agonizing, the last leg of her journey. The second she was given the go ahead to leave her seat after the plane landed, she jumped to her feet, for once thankful for her lack of layers. The light and breezy outfit she'd chosen working in her favor as she almost ran out of the plane after grabbing her carry on. She stopped long enough to grab her suitcase and then flew through the airport until she was outside and looking for her taxi that would take her to campus.

It was a relief once they pulled in. She paid the driver and grabbed her luggage and joined the crowd of students as they headed towards the lobby. Stopping by Edgar, she grabbed her room key and made her way to the staff dormitory. All she wanted was to unpack and relax. She shivered, still able to feel how cramped she was during the flight.

As she made her way up, she noticed she was the first one there. She smiled, she could work with that. She already had an idea as to who her new roommate was, seeing as her previous one was newly married. Entering the room, she first made her way to the room she now claimed as hers and began unpacking.

It didn't take too long and before she knew it she was in the small kitchenette, getting ready to make some coffee. She'd need it with the amount of work she was no doubt going to have as the day went on. It was then that she heard some shuffling by the door, followed by its opening. She snorted at Keith's words.

"Don't worry, Jo Mane, I'm not about to psychoanalyze you and make you spill all your secrets."
she smirked.
"Well, not yet at least."

"home, i'm finally home"
chester evans
Chester smiled as he wrapped his arms around his older sister, Ara. "Ara, it's not my fault that you are short. You've always been a shortie" He said softly as he let her cup his cheeks. He knew as she smiled that she was holding back tears. He always knew when she was about to cry, it was a feeling in his soul. It was like his heart breaking for her. "Don't cry Ara, we're here together now. No more tears in those eyes. Not now or ever again. I'm here together." He said as he sinks into her hug burying his face into her shoulder. He knew that he wouldn't leave her again. Not again. He couldn't handle another separation. She was his family, his home.

He heard someone come in behind them, and he felt Ara peek around him and move out of their hug. He stayed behind Ara almost trying to hide. He was never good with new people. Especially ones that he was going to be rooming with. It was hard for him at times to even speak up to even make friends. That is why he was a loner at school, it was hard for him to try to make friends. So he wouldn't and stay to himself. Arabella was always better at making friends than him even in the foster home, everyone wanted to be friends with her but she chose to stay with him, which is why she was important to him because she chose him. And he chose her.

Then, of course, Ara being Ara, introduced him. He waved softly "I-i-i'm Chester, A-a-ara's little brother." He said softly as he looked at the ground. He was never good at introducing himself. Chester breathed in deeply as he tried to get some words out. "I-i-i've known Ara...for all of my life..." He said softly looking at Penny and then at Pint who was giving him a look. He gulped before he even tried to run, he felt Pint's hand on his shoulder and him saying that now he has them and he smiled softly. He thinks that he's going to like it here.

He's going to like it here a lot.

Alice in Wonderland

"IT'S GOING OUT TO IDIOT AMERICA.." Alison had one arm up in the air, the other holding the hairbrush to her mouth as the beat dropped. "Welcome to a new ........" Alison stopped dead in her tracks as she bounced around to find herself face to face with someone. A look of shock present in her expression as it took her a second to realise who it was before a grin overtook her features and she began to laugh. She took out her headphones, dropped the hairbrush on the floor and ran at Eugene throwing herself at him for a hug. "Ahh your here" she said excitedly as she let him go and took a step back.

His next comment made her laugh and she shook her head with a smirk "Look i waited ok... you are very late" she teased back "Dinah, a loyal fan, was here on time and you know I just can't leave the audience waiting" she motioned towards her cat on the bed who looked as though she was already done with Alison's antics. Almost like trying to prove Alison's thoughts to be the true, Dinah jumped off the bed and left the room disappearing out of sight. Alison watched the cat leave an expression on her face as if Dinah leaving had actually hurt her feelings before looking back at Eugene. " I'm just glad you got here first, I am dreading this new roommate like I swear I have PTSD" she said in a more serious tone. "Maybe if we don't know them we can tell them their in the wrong room, or find a way to get rid of them?" she said this with amusement laced in her tone but the twinkle in her eyes meant she was serious about it. People might think that Alison overexaggerated the situation they had with the last roommate but he had scared her. She couldn't even count how many times she had to go into Eugene's room at night and wake him when their roommate was on a rampage. She still wasn't sure how Eugene never got expelled or in trouble for hitting the roommate but she assumed that it was just a case of no-one told anyone.

Feeling herself beginning to get worked up again, Alison bit her lip in a thoughtful way before a smile began to spread on her lips and a devilish twinkle shone in her eyes. She stepped to her bed and disconnected her earphones before allowing the song to blare again this time through her phone. Stepping forward slowly she grabbed Eugene's hand and made him do a twirl "look you missed the concerts beginning but you can be part of it now" she said in a singsong voice and a laugh. Still holding his hand in case he tried to walk off as she made him dance. She did understand why sometimes Leah may get a little jealous and annoyed with Alison for how she acts with Eugene but her feeling towards Eugene were purely platonic with Alison seeing him as a brother , she was sure Leah knew this though, but Alison wasn't going to change who she was.

Carter, Alison & Shalimar (m.)

Megan was having a rather rocky road back home at the moment. She lived alone trying to get by her summer job as a tattoo artist. From a young age Megan always loved to sketch, draw and design various designs. It was her way of escaping life. Some read, some write, some exercise. Megan draws. It was the only way that she could properly express herself. More than words ever could.

Her land lord had just raised the rent and Megan couldn't afford it. She was working over time and she could barely make it. She was in fact a few pays behind. When she came back from the last day of work due to strarting college she found something quite unpleasant. Let's say it was a good thing she had packed for school the day before but she found all her suitcases and belongings outside of her door. Raising an eyebrow she saw a big paper attached to the door stating the word 'EVICTED' in block red letters on the door of her now former apartment.

Meg's fist clenched as she bit her lower lip, kicking the wall,
"Fuck!"
. It was a good thing her boots were thick, otherwise that would have hurt like hell.

With a loud sigh, she took her luggages and showed herself out. Guess she was going to school quite earlier and at least not broke. Well almost broke.

As much as Meg was cool on the outside, on the inside she was in panic. She ended up on an earlier cab ride than intended. In fact she arrived a half a day early even. She did not want to be so early on campus, so she decided to walk around for a little bit. She did not have much money left so she needed to save up a little to at least get her through the first month. She was quite in a tight spot, at least she got her pay before leaving.

As she walked she noticed a newly opened cafe a few blocks down from university. It looked very floral, very indie, not much Megan's style. Oh what the heck, she had nothing better to do. Why not?

Megan sighed and went inside, true her aesthetic did not meet hers but it turned out to be an art cafe where people are free to hang, draw and get a refreshment from time to time. It was a free space which felt like she hit a bonus. How come she never came across it, she did not know but it already felt like a place she can detach herself in. Setting down at a table, the female ordered an ice coffee so she would at least buy something and took out her sketchbook. She had so many unfinished tattoo designs to complete that she needed to get her work flow going. Feeling slightly disheartened at the moment by what just happened, she needed the inspiration. So she got on her phone and started to chat to the three people that she knew inspired her. Carter, Shalimar and Alison. Three totally different people in different parts of her life.

It was nice to talk to her trinity group they call the cult. She met both Shalimar and Alison when she first entered as a first year and has stuck with them ever since. True the trio were quite the opposites but she loved how they still got each others back and never got bored of one another. Megan was the quiet of them all, in a sense she was more reserved with her feelings than her friends. She was not ones to show her feelings but they still knew she cared in their own way. Its like they say, they can be your worst nightmare, or your dream come true. In fact when she opened up about her housing situation, both of them offered their help but Meg was not to big on taking other people's money.

That is, till she spoke to him. As she opened up to Carter about it, things had taken a turn. When her life long best friend heard her misery of a situation, he insisted that she moved in with him. At least till she got her shit together. However, she couldn't. It felt wrong to accept as much as she knew how genuine it was. She never thought she was going to see him until he ended up in the same dorm room. Boy they both had a growth spurt to the better from those two awkward little kids that they were back in foster care. Then he left, he got adopted. Meg as a child never got over that. Until she came face to face with him once again. All those years missing washed up to the surface all at once. Not that Megan liked to vocalise it. However, she was certain both him and her friends could read through it. That being said, she finally agreed to his proposition which gave her some shred of hope. Which was rare.

She proceeded to sketch the design that was meant to interpret her and Carter's relationship. It came natural. She knew that he has been wanting a tattoo for so long. And so she worked on it and the hours flew by. Till it was finally time to start making her way to the university. She spent almost 5 hours in that cafe. Who would have known?

As she entered campus, she went in line to Wendy in order to get her keys which she knew who she was rooming with. It was known that the last fourth year now graduated so she knew it was going to be Carter and Persephone. Unless a new kid makes presence. She hoped not. Megan was not really a people's person. The line seemed to have shortened at least. Making her way up to her dorm room, she unlocked the main door and made it inside with all her belongings,
"Is anyone home?"
her voice slightly trailed as she entered.

While Oliver is definitely not the first person in the world to say he hates his parents, he doesn't hate his home. It makes visiting rather difficult because while he despises his parents and wants nothing to do with their power and money grubbing hands, he does want to visit the place he grew up and the people who raised him like he was their son.

It might seem strange to some that he considered the staff that were paid to work in his home as family, but it was what it was, and if he was to be honest, he wouldn't change it for the world.

"Isn't that right, Chess?"
he hummed, finishing his thoughts aloud. Walking around his bed, he scooped up his sleeping cat and cuddled her to his chest, giving her a quick scratch behind her ear. Smiling at the purr he received in response, he whispered a quick apology as he gently put her in her carrier so they could get ready to leave.

"Sorry girl, it's only for a little while."
he promised.

Grabbing his bags in one hand and Chess in the other, he made his way downstairs, a smile on his face as he first saw the head maid and butler that were jointly in charge of all the other staff. He made to greet them, only to falter at the sight of his mother behind them, closer to the door. His grin immediately fell into a scowl. All summer he hadn't seen hide nor hair of either of his parents, and it was perfect. Of course he couldn't end the season on a high note by not seeing either of them at all. She just had to come and ruin everything like she always did.

"What do you want?"
he asked, voice dark. He vaguely felt bad at the sad sigh he heard from the woman who had really cared for him, but he couldn't pretend. He stopped years ago and he wasn't about to put himself through it all over again.

"I can't come and see my son before he heads off for another school year?"

"If only you had one that cared."
he shot back. Oliver stopped at the bottom of the stairs and gave the head maid a hug and kiss on the cheek and the butler a one armed hug as well.
"Maybe you should go look for one. Maybe he'll let you claim some of his success as your own, cause I don't think you'll find what you're looking for here."

Continuing across the entryway he passed the woman who gave birth to him without a second glance. Once outside he went straight for his car, hoping to bypass the woman completely, but if nothing else, she's persistent, he'll give her that.

"Oh come now, Oliver, you're still throwing this tantrum? Don't you think it's getting old?"

He rolled his eyes.
"Sure, yes, I'm having a tantrum. Whatever helps you sleep at night."
he responded, tossing his luggage into his backseat while carefully placing Chess on the passenger seat. He jumped into the driver's side and started the car, not bothering to glance at the woman who was standing a few feet away. He had nothing else to say to her.

Out of the corner of his eye he could see her make to speak again, but he wasn't having it. He threw the car into drive and peeled out of the garage, not bothering to shut the door behind him.

As he flew down the highway, going far above the speed limit then he should, Oliver made good time back to campus. Putting the car in park he thanked some of the staff for grabbing his bags and taking them to his room. For a moment he wondered if Dani, Maya, or Zara had arrived yet. Either way, he knew he had a certain someone to find. Grabbing Chess he took her out of her carrier and put her on his shoulder where she wrapped around the back of his neck and returned to sleep.

Shaking his head at the cat's moment of laziness he pulled out his phone and opened up his messages to text a certain black haired, neon green loving woman.

'Morning your Majesty.' he sent. 'You on campus yet?'

Jack could barely keep his eyes open. That was true, but despite his jet lag, He was still buzzing from his perfect honeymoon in Maui with his perfect wife Desiree. Now it was back to reality, however, and the pair would be back to teaching at Walt Disney University in just a few hours.

He had awoken early to help Desiree with packing, but mostly to keep little angel Maria occupied so she wouldn’t fuss over her mamma while she packed.

He sat on the floor of the living room with Maria who beamed up at him with doe eyes. Though she was not his little girl biologically, his heart swelled every time she smiled at him as though she was.

He rose one eyebrow as high as it would go, making her favourite silly face as she grinned a toothy grin and grabbed at his face.

‘Mon dieu! She’s got me again!’ He exclaimed as he launched to tickle her tummy for the third time just as Desiree entered the room.

"Mon coeur, everything is ready. Make sure you double check we turned off everything and I'll get Maria ready."

Jack nodded, looking up at Desiree adoringly. Always so adept at handling things.

'Sure thing, cherie,' he replied as he ruffled Maria's hair and got up from the spot he had been sitting on the floor next to her. He began wondering around the place making sure everything was turned off, smiling as his new wife placed a kiss on his shoulder as he passed her.

'Alright, looks like everything is set.' Jack confirmed as he reemerged a few moments later. 'Are you sure everything is packed? I'll bring the luggage through.'

After Desiree confirmed everything to be done, all that was left was to wait for the cab.

Desi had gone to get Maria ready for the annual festivities at WDU.

'Alright, ma cherie, if everything is packed up, we best start making moves.' he said, leaning over to place a kiss atop Desiree's head once she and Maria had reemerged from the bathroom. He beamed at Maria in her sweet little festival outfit.

'Well who is this pretty little thing I've never seen before? Is she a princess?' He bopped her lightly on the nose before heading out to the hallway and picking up the passports and tickets. 'Let's get this show on the road, beautiful.'

A cab ride later they had made it to the airport and within a short while more onto the plane from Colorado to California.

Jack was glad for Desiree's sake that Maria fell asleep during the trip to the airport and even the entire three hour flight to California.

It was a pleasant flight, and Jack was happy to take turns holding Maria, letting Desiree sleep soundly beside him and admiring the way the morning sunlight reflected on her hair.

Once they had finally reached California, Jack leaned over to Desiree and brushed his finger gently across her cheek to wake her up. ‘We’ve arrived, Angel. Time to end that beauty sleep.’

In no time the three found themselves back at the familiar campus of Walt Disney University wading through the hustle and bustle of students arriving.

Jack led the way to the apartments, carrying most of the luggage with a little help from Cogsworth and Lumiere whom he charmed with a joke about rural France compared to Paris before reluctantly getting their apartment key from a sour looking Edgar.

’Looking sharp there Mr Balthazar. I’m sure you had a thrilling vacation.’ He greeted him somewhat sarcastically as Edgar shot a look of annoyance toward little Maria and Desiree.

Jack’s stance was rather protective as he engaged with Edgar. He knew that the man couldn’t stand Desi and he didn’t like him one bit, even if he did know how to keep it friendly.

’Of course, sir. I can confidently say it has been quite an experience to be back. Whether it is a pleasant one I couldn’t say...’

Shortly after that exchange the three were finally at their apartment and got themselves settled. It appeared Principal Olsen had got them wedding gifts. Jack was surprised to say the least. The woman was rather reserved and standoffish most of the time.

"Congratulations on your marriage - Principal Olsen." As she read the note Desiree grinned, "That is so thoughtful of Ms. Olsen. Mon Dieu, I have never seen such a wide selection of teain my life..."

He went over to have a look at his own presents, eyes wide at the generosity.

‘Wow, jazz and French movies? Olsen went all out! I don’t have any of these back home. We gotta thank her when we see her indeed. Now uh, don’t you need to get to the dance team with Connie? I’ll keep Maria occupied and catch up with some of the staff then come watch the team, cherie.’

Zara Amzy awoke to the softest and most pleasant feeling of lips softly brushing her cheek. She did not open her eyes for a long moment, believing herself to be dreaming: a dream in which the kiss was from her one friend Maya. Of course, that could never be reality….

Then she thought she actually heard her voice speaking to her and Zara let her eyes flicker open.

"Come on Zar, we have to go to moving day. It's the event of the start of the year. Anyone who's anyone is gonna be there."

Zara let out a muffled and disoriented groan. It was rather fortunate that she was much more docile in the mornings.

‘Uh…’anyone who is anyone’ are mostly uninteresting airheads, Maya. Can we skip today?’

Of course, Zara already knew the answer was no, and that somehow the blonde had the ability to persuade her to do almost anything for her. That was why she was even here now. Zara was not about to let the only person she cared for become a homeless runaway. It would ruin her reputation.

"If you get up, I'll make my famous taco breakfast that you love so much.."

There it was, the promise of Maya’s amazing breakfast tacos as she shifted from her bed and into the kitchen. Zara frowned a little bit once she left the room, following her movement discreetly.

‘Oh very well. I can’t say no to breakfast tacos…’

Soon after making herself presentable and brushing out her long red hair she emerged into the kitchen in time for aforementioned breakfast tacos.

‘i’ll pay you back with apple pie pancakes…once I have perfected the formula so that I don’t accidentally kill you. Currently, that would be a high probability of occurring.’

Once they had finished their breakfast companionably, Zara headed out with her wonderful best friend for WDU.

Unfortunately her good mood was tainted by a text from her current boyfriend Justin who was asking her when she would arrive and whether she liked spaghetti.

‘Ugh,’ she muttered under breath. ‘I wonder if I can ditch him somehow this year…’

Amberly E.

filler

  • "Yes, Father, I'm checking the mooring lines now. Yes. Yes. You taught me everything I know, how could I mess up?" Amberly waited a moment, the ghost of a smile on her lips as she kept her eyes fixed to the boats before her. Before moving into her apartment on campus, she'd decided to check the Sailing Club's ships to make sure no one had messed them up since she'd been away. Her survey of the vessels before her confirmed that her fleet of pirate ships-in-training had not been tampered with the past few months. Excellent.

Most of her summer had been spent in her father's company, rehashing the past year and ranting about her awful colleagues--especially that blasphemous fiend, Mane. Just the thought of his name made her blood boil. She would have to make sure to keep Blake between herself and him, lest she embroil herself in even further trouble with the administration. Principal Olsen's patience was already rather thin, and frankly, she didn't want her female colleagues to think less of her just because she had a chip on her shoulder. But it was a sensible chip! It's not like there was any male who could change her worldview in a day. Besides her father, of course, gentleman that he was and always would be.

"I'll call you tomorrow. You need to get some sleep tonight, and we both know I'll be too jet-lagged to call later tonight. Yes. You too. I love you." She hung up and tucked her cell phone into her pocket and made one less visual pass of the ships, stopping to crouch beside her favorite one. This particular vessel looked like it had seen quite a few voyages, but that was why she loved it. Whenever the Sailing Club met, she always laid claim to this boat; she only trusted herself with it, frankly. She felt an almost personal connection with the boat, as strange as it sounded. But she was a pirate at heart.

Satisfied that this aspect of her teaching life was intact, Amberly began making her way to the main campus, running through her mental checklist of people to avoid today. O'Hara was alright, she supposed, especially if he was going to be mooning over Desiree. She hadn't quite gotten a handle on Widener, but he avoided conflict like the plague, so she'd be sure to avoid him just as well. And Mane... ugh. If she could avoid him, she would. As for Campbell...

She paused in her tracks and pinched the bridge of her nose to stave off the embarrassment, shame, and anger that followed her whenever faced with that man. While Mane was annoying to no end, Campbell was insufferable. And that one-night mistake wasn't helping matters either. To think she'd enjoyed it a little bit... ugh. She was never drinking that much again. No matter how much anyone begged for a "wingwoman". Give her a sailboat any day.

With that thought firmly in mind, she resumed her trek to the apartments, briskly taking the key from Edgar--awful man, that one, always so intrusive and condescending--before going up the stairs. On the bright side, it seemed Campbell had made his entrance and was further down the hall. Mane was, unfortunately, in the room next door, but that couldn't be helped. And at least the rooms had locks.

Once inside, Amberly saw Connie was already there. "Ah, hello, Connie. I trust your summer went well?" Amberly set down her bags and faced her roommate with a smile that none of her male colleagues had ever seen. "I'm looking forward to the performances today. I'm sure you and Desiree did splendidly. If you want, I can tidy up around here if you need to head down?"

Yes, she was very much a lady when around her female colleagues. Thank God none of the males had dared to enter her vicinity as of yet. Knock on wood.

‘Kid, you got a lot of shit to agree to before you set foot on that campus and we can’t book you for anything, so you better be listening….Herc….Heracles? You listening?’

Herc sighed, running a large hand through his short cropped hair and fighting not to roll his eyes as he sat in his chauffeur driven, tinted window car listening to Phil on loud speaker.

He hated first day back and all the fuss his main PR Guy Phil made of him. Usually he would have his dorm room extra supped up and fancy just to keep up an image Herc hardly cared about.

Through the rearview mirror, Herc could see his chauffeur Beck trying to stifle a chuckle of amusement at Phil’s rantings.

‘Yeah, yeah I’m listening Phil, what have you go for me?’

‘Alright kid. Gatorade wants to make an ad with you in the next few months, possibly more than one….The Olympics committee requested an appearance with you and your ‘rents and there are a few charitable donations you gotta make. Couple of galas….Herc, you listening? Kid? Kid!’

Herc had indeed stopped listening since he had finally arrived on campus and unfortunately for Phil, he was not about to be contacted about ‘celebrity stuff’ whilst on campus as a rule.

‘Thanks Phil, I’ll get back to you on that, but seriously this is my last year! I don’t think I can do all the things you guys want me to do…I gotta go, buddy.’

Herc quickly hung up the phone before Phil could protest, gritting his teeth in frustration for a moment before etching an affable smile on his face as he got out of the car and thanked Beck.

’Thanks man, much appreciated. Don’t worry, I got my bags. You take care of yourself, yeah?’

With that, the male headed to where he usually got his dorm assignment and keys from the head of student council, Wendy. She was a sweet girl, but she could never seem to look him in the eye. Weird.

‘Hey Wendy, good summer?’

‘Oh, hi Heracles…’
Wendy said quietly with a shy smile, ‘Yes it was good. You’re in a new room this year: R2. I don’t think your ‘people’ have come in to do anything drastic this time.’

Herc let out a sigh of relief he didn’t even know he had been holding and after thanking a blushing Wendy Darlington he handed for his room with his things.

The first thing he saw was his best friend Eugene and a blonde he recognised as Alison Connors from the cheer team. He blinked several times in bewilderment for a moment before heading over to them with a beaming smile.

‘Eugene, bro! Bring it in!’ he said with arms outstretched in delight. In all their years at WDU the pair had never been roommates and this was just what he needed.

Not wanting to be rude he also greeted Alison with a smile that lit up his entire face. The beautiful blonde wasn’t exactly the worst roommate they could get.

‘Hey there, nice dancing…Alison, right? I guess we’re roommates. I’m uh, Heracles in case you didn’t know.’

He knew that most people did know his name, but he never really liked to assume.

Shalimar didn’t like to seem eager to be anywhere that wasn’t her bed, but truthfully it did excite her somewhat to be heading back for her final year at Walt Disney University. Even more exciting to see her best friends and ‘cult members’ Alison and Meg…and perhaps even more so to see Oliver Matthews again. Though she was not about to tell him that. Nor about how just thinking about him lately made her stomach do weird backflips that no one else did.

Shalimar didn’t exactly wake up early to get to campus. She was used to the routine of the first day festivities, the light show, the club fair, and she wasn’t much into the entertainment most of the time, so she decided to let herself sleep in, just a little. That is, until she received a group text from Meg and Alison about how Meg had been evicted by her asshole of a land lord and how she was currently hanging out at a cafe near the university.

Shalimar showed her support and offered to help her friend of course, but she couldn’t help but offer a sarcastic quip:

cafes are for those cutesy wootsie boys who like to sing cringey acoustic guitar love songs to girls on a rainy day in New York

She teased as she began getting herself ready to leave with her things. It took a while to coax her lazy cat Salem into his carrier and he offered her quite the annoyed glare, but after a bit of reasoning he obliged

The journey was not far, since she had never lived very far from campus, and despite trying her best to avoid most of it, she got there rather early. Early enough to see the line forming around Wendy Darlington.

Pfft, she thought, it was her own fault for insisting on giving out dorm keys on her own every year. Darlington was such a control freak….

Just as she thought about this and finally let Salem out of his carrier, her phone buzzed with a text from Oliver and it sounded as though he was actually rather nearby to her.

Morning Your Majesty, you on campus yet? he texted.

Yep. He was very nearby, she looked up and spotted his black cat Chess clinging to his neck and his familiar brown hair. With a smirk she decided not to answer his text and simply strode over to him with Salem in tow.

As she got closer she announced herself with eyes sparkling mischievously.

‘Nah, I’m not on campus, and even if I was, I’d still rather hang out with your cat, Matthews.’

She tried to hide her delight at seeing him behind a mock stern look. ‘Now, aren’t you gonna bow to your queen?’

  • "Antonio, you better behave when we get to campus," Noah scolded as he drove towards his place of work for the past four years. It was hard to believe that this was going to be his fifth year. And yet, he still hadn't gotten his shit together when it came to organization. He would have to work on that this year for sure. So long as a certain orange kitty didn't try to mess up all his lesson plans. He didn't need to embarrass himself in front of his students. Again.

His orange cat, who certainly wasn't named for the voice actor of a certain feline character in a certain ogre franchise, was currently crawling along his shoulders, digging his claws in whenever they made a sharp turn. So Noah tried to keep the ride as smooth as possible, because the last thing he needed was to show up with cat pee on his jacket and his sweater. That would certainly make a statement.

As he neared the school, Noah repeated his mantra about having another productive year at WDU. Though Antonio's tail was messing up his hair something fierce, he was confident that this would be a great year. Even if it would take far too many cups of coffee to make it happen. But, oh well, he'd made his bed as the coffee addict of the staff. He might as well keep the title!

Finally, finally, after the fifth sweep of his cat's tail, Noah pulled up to the campus. Thankfully, he didn't have many bags, but those he did were quite heavy. He thanked Cogsworth and Lumiere for their assistance and sent a warm smile in Edgar's direction (not that the gesture was returned). The trip was not nearly so arduous as it had been his first year--it had been far too hectic, and he'd been nervous to ask for much assistance--and in no time at all he was at his apartment. He wasn't terribly sure who his roommate would be since the last one had taken a job at another university, but he hoped whoever it was would be calm, at least. The last thing he needed was someone who tended to cause trouble.

But, well, he used to be a troublemaker himself, so he didn't exactly have room to talk.

Antonio leaped nimbly from his shoulders to the living room table, stretching his limbs gracefully. "Let's hope our new roommate isn't allergic to cats, buddy," Noah said, scratching the cat behind his ears. "Otherwise I might have to kick you out." Antonio meowed in response, and Noah smiled. Yeah, this was gonna be a pretty good year.

Danitza M.

  • "Dani speaking" vs Dani signing

Danitza was dreaming of her family. Though she'd been reassured time and time again that her and Cesar's reunion with Andres and Madicella was indeed quite real, it was still hard to believe. After years of believing she and Cesar would be all alone forever, they had their brother back. And their cousin. Oh, their cousin... Though Madi hadn't given many details, Dani had known, from the moment she'd started signing, that she'd been through much the same pain that Dani herself had suffered. Even now, it was hard to put a name to it. Naming it gave it power over her, and she refused to give it that. Her singing had already been taken away--her mind would not go with it.

In her dream, she was hugging her baby brother, practically a little man now, and Cesar was laughing with their cousins and their parents. The Mosquera Familia was strong and together, and Dani and Madi could still talk and sing together. It was an idealistic dream, one that would never come true, now. But that was alright. It was something delightful to greet her at night instead of the nightmares that tried to come.

Unfortunately, her good dream meant she was sleeping in a bit. Or a lot. Or a lot a bit. She shoved away the first pair of hands that tried to pull her out of her dream, as they were sure to be her brother. How was he up before her? He was notorious for sleeping in and nearly missing his classes--unless they were taught by his favorite professor, that is. But then she heard another voice trying to wake her up, and that's when she cracked open her eyes to see Blake crouching by her bed. That's right. She was at home with the misfits. And what was that about Starbucks? "Strawberry açai lemonade?" she murmured, stretching her arms above her head like a cat. Cesar grinned and rolled his eyes.

Now that she was awake, Dani was able to get up and get dressed for the day. And now that she thought about it, she and Cesar and Blake needed to hurry, because getting to the campus meant she and Cesar would get to meet up with Madi sooner. Though Dani didn't admit it, she was also excited to move back into the dorms. She'd been sharing her dorm with Oliver for all their years at WDU now, and though she'd been scared of him at first, he'd become one of her favorite people over time. And, well. His cat was adorable. Not that she said that to his face. Chess, however, heard it all the time.

Once she was dressed, she and Cesar loaded their bags into the car with Blake's, and they were off. Dani's promised Starbucks drink was as delicious as she remembered, and she thanked Blake for the treat in ASL. Cesar was practically bouncing in his seat as they approached the campus. Blake had barely pulled up to the school before he was bursting out of the backseat. "Come on come on come on!" he insisted, nearly throwing his and Dani's bags out of the car. "We gotta find Madi! We're already late because somebody didn't want to get up!"

Dani stuck her tongue out at him. Now that they were around people, she was less willing to use her voice. She gave Blake a quick hug before dragging her bags over to the dorm for the staff to take up to her room. With a stern look, she and Cesar grabbed their dorm room keys before going off to find Madi. They were supposed to be meeting in the center quad, and thanks to Cesar's height, he was able to spot their darling cousin first. "MADI!" he boomed. "MADIIIIII!!!" And he took off running toward their cousin.

I'm in a skirt, Cesar, she thought, speed walking to where her brother had found their cousin. She signed, Sorry for being late. I was having a good dream. Giving her cousin a soft, warm hug, she held her at arm's length for a second. She still couldn't believe her luck that her beautiful cousin and her littlest brother had survived that awful fire. Maybe their familia was still watching over them after all. How are you? Nervous for your first year? How's Andres?

"sometimes i wish you could see me, the way I see you."
arica dalma
Pint laughed softly "I seriously did, Patch and you need a bigger bed. I had the money, so why not?" He knew that she was going to be slightly pissed at him for doing that but he also knew that she wouldn't have asked him to do so. He needed to take matters into his own hands, it was important that he do so. Penny would never ask anyone to do something for her, she's so selfless that she never could be selfish. Even when his mother died, and she of course was affected by it, she pushed that all aside to be by his side. He treated her like pure fucking shit but yet, she chose to stick by him throughout everything. It wasn't until her own parents' own demise, that he realized how much she needed him and never said.

That was the moment he knew that he couldn't leave her side again. Pint would take care of her whether she wanted him to or not, for the simple fact that he loved her. He had always loved her and even with everything, he would do anything for her. Even buy the best mattress just so she wouldn't be sad that their dog got stuck again because he knew that she would never asked for help.

"Who else would I trust to eat Resa beignets with?" He said softly. It had also become a tradition for Pint to come over in the morning with food for Penny. Usually, he used the excuse that Patch had gotten stuck again, but since he's fixing that issue..he had to admit that he needed to start his mornings with Penny because she made everything better. They had started to walk towards the dorms.

He felt an gentle bump into his shoulder and shook his head as she thanked him. "Seriously, Penny...it's no problem. Like I said, I had the money. Not like I use it for anything else. Dad just...puts money in my account and expects that means he's doing his fatherly duties." Pint felt his eyes darken. Talking about his no show father, was hard. He hated the man, he hated how he didn't realize that he not only lost a wife but his son lost his mother. He didn't need to lose both of them but he did. For that, he would never considered the man that he once called Dad, a parent.

Pint was so lost in thought that he didn't even realized that they had made it to Penny's dorm. Having walked in, they saw a first year that they didn't know close to Ara. He went into protective brother mode, he was about to ask the other male in the room to back off when Ara introduced him. Ara was of course Penny's roommate and friend that's why he took it upon himself to make sure that she was looked out for. But he didn't have to worry about Chester, the moment the younger of the two males spoke. he knew that kid couldn't hurt a fly.

Pint went to pat his shoulder softly "Now you have us too. Plus how can I not teach Arabella's brother all of my pick up tricks. It's only right." He said gaining before feeling like he was getting glared at. He turned around and saw both of the ladies glaring at him.

"What?"

===========================================================

Gidget stopped in front of her familiar dormitory room door, her luggage coming to a slow halt behind her as a few bewildered new students stumbled and stared as they passed. One wide-eyed freshman stopped beside her as she bent to examine the doorknob, trying to determine if the administration had once again attempted to dismantle her smart lock.

"Yoooo," the new student said, his eyes traveling over the automated cases, "those bags are dank. Where'd you get 'em?"

"Dank...?" Gidget whispered under her breath, her brows furrowing together.

dank
/daNGk/
adjective
disagreeably damp, musty, and typically cold.

She turned toward her luggage and gave them a quick sniff. They certainly didn't smell musty to her. A bit like motor oil, maybe, but certainly not dank.

"I bought them several years ago from Traveler's Choice. They've been around the world a few times, most recently returning from a trip to Peru. They've never been exposed to water so I don't know why you'd say they smell bad."
She was much more matter-of-fact than she normally might have been - she's not one to pass on a chance to gush about the ins and outs of an invention that has caught someone's attention - but it seemed to her that the clueless young man was just trying to insult her.

The new student didn't hide his confusion. "Uh... smell bad? Did I say they smell bad?"

"Yes, which is very rude, by the way. You shouldn't just walk up to people you've never met and tell them their belongings are dank!"

As the freshman tried to explain that he definitely didn't mean it like that, Gidget had already tuned him out and turned her attention back to the door. A closer inspection confirmed her suspicions that last year's lock had indeed been changed, which would be fine if she were a patient woman who would wait in line for a new key like everyone else.
"Great," she muttered, briefly wondering if it would be worth the trouble to outfit their door with a new smart lock during her last year as an undergraduate. Hopefully she had hidden Walt's circuitry well enough that he wasn't dismantled, too.

"Hello Walt," she said into her watch, holding her wrist up to her face, "initiate dorm protocol 68-B, please."

"PROTOCOL 68-B = INITIATED."

The whirring from within the door frame started up immediately. Gidget clapped her hands together and pumped her fist as she watched the doorknob begin to rattle, ecstatic that Walt was still intact and operational. During her first year they had removed him completely, and during her second they had called in the Computer Science professor to disable the programming as his wiring proved too difficult to find. Seemed like she had managed to find the right combination to keep him under staff radar this time.

In about a minute, the whirring sound and knob rattling had stopped.
"PROTOCOL 68-B = COMPLETED."

"You're the best, Walt," Gidget smiled with a sigh, turning the knob and stepping inside with her luggage close behind. The new student stood in silent shock at what he had just witnessed as the door closed in his face.

"WELCOME HOME, GIDGET."

"Thank you! Happy to be back!" She strolled through the dorm back to her bedroom, disengaging her suitcases to leave them there.
"Yoo-hoo~!" she called out as she came back into the main room, looking around to see if anyone else was getting settled in. "Anybody home?"

Though no voices greeted her, she did pick up the faintest trace of Chastity's signature scent. Gidget was relieved she hadn't scared her away. The last first years to room with her and Terry had requested new dorm assignments in less than six months, citing sparks from a prototype as the cause of their singed eyebrows and lashes. Terry had been witness to many an inventive mishap, but rather than avoid her as some had before, seemed to embrace a little bit of chaos. As far as Arica, she didn't see any sign of him yet, but he seemed to be a big fan of Walt so Gidget would be surprised if he wouldn't be joining them for another year.

"Might as well go see what everyone else is up to, then." She headed to the kitchen, craving her signature cup of peanut butter and jelly iced coffee with cashew milk to get her wound up and ready to tackle the long day ahead. Upon opening the refrigerator, however, she found herself facing disappointment: the neatly organized fridge meant Terry had been here, but supplies were scarce and there was no cashew milk to be seen. She must not have had the chance to pick any up yet. Gidget frowned and closed the refrigerator door, making a mental note to do an extra grocery run with her roommate later.

Coffee-less and bored all by her lonesome, she resolved to leave her dorm and stroll down to the lounge. The first day of a new semester was always a big to-do at WDU, so Gidget had no doubt she would find some excitement waiting for her - and food. In all of her excitement to come back to school she'd skipped out on breakfast this morning, and with nothing else to occupy her mind her stomach was not shy about reminding her.

As she entered the bustling lounge area, she scanned the impressive spread the Cooking Club had laid out for everyone. Waffles, pancakes, French toast, bacon... was that a pot of jambalaya, too? It came as no surprise to Gidget when her eyes landed on a platter of fresh beignets, her favorite brunette standing proudly behind them. Beaming from ear to ear, she approached the table and scooped up some napkins and a small plate.
"Terry Russell's famous beignets? Don't mind if I do!" She picked up one of the warm pastries, taking a large bite and smiling at her roommate with puffy, treat-filled cheeks. A giggle escaped from behind her powdered sugar dusted lips as she set the remainder of the beignet on her plate. There was just something about Terry that never failed to make Gidget smile.

The blonde very nearly jumped out of her uniform at the sudden emergence of Arielle from her room, fully dressed in the Mouseketeers uniform. Chastity thought they both looked super cute decked out in blue and white with their almost matching ponytails and seeing the red head took her mind off Chad.

Yay you’re ready! You look gorgeous sweetie,’ she said as she leaned in for a brief encouraging rose scented hug. ‘Yes let’s get our dance moves on.’ Chastity waggled her eyebrows slightly and did a brief twirl so that her blonde locks cascaded around her before letting out a soft giggle and beginning the journey down the hallway with her friend.

"Well, honey its been an eventful summer. Tea needed to be spilt. Let's go get the dorm lounge clear and meet up with Ms Navajo and Mrs O'Hara. They're bound to have arrived. Hopefully." Chastity nodded and frowned at the first part. She knew all about Ari’s relationship troubles, it had been one of the things keeping them up late last night talking, but she was glad that Gabriel hadn’t shown up just yet and ruined Arielle’s mood.

An instant smile graced her features at the mention of their dance teachers, though at first, she looked puzzled. She was pretty sure she didn’t know anyone called Mrs. O’Hara…

‘O’Hara? Isn’t that the music guy, do we have a new dance teach-‘ she cut herself off mid-sentence with an excited gasp. ‘Oh my god that’s who Miss Monreal got married to? That is so sweet. They were always mooning over each other. I have to congratulate her.’ Her gaze suddenly became somewhat dreamy as she imagine what it would be like to have her own perfect romance.

That was when Arielle caught her off guard.

"How are you still with this asshole? You can do so much better than this guy." Chastity looked down at the screen of her phone and fought back a frown.

‘Oh Ari, he’s just a little busy that’s all. He’ll come by today, I’m sure of it!’

With that, she quickly changed the subject and busied herself with the tables and chairs once she reached the dorm lounge. Everything had to be perfect, not just for their sake, but because Principal Olsen had very high standards.

She couldn’t wait to see all her friends again. She especially couldn’t wait to see what theatrics her friend Keaton would put on this year. He was always so sweet and dramatic and huggable. Then of course there was her best friend Terry, whom she knew would be hard at work serving up some heavenly grub of some sort. Chastity would have to make a point to go see her bestie…if she had any time left in her day by then.

  • Ricky scrunched up his face and pursed his lips, focusing intently on what Perci was telling him. "Follow the crowd... I think I got it!" He power-walked along the crowd until he came up to what looked like the dorms. As always, P.K. had saved the day, and his ass. He didn't know what he'd do without her, but then, he was pretty sure he would always have her around. No reason to think about something impossible, like not having her around.

Now that he wasn't lost anymore, he needed to find P.K. Of course, he was the taller of the two of them, so while it was usually easy to locate him, it was a little harder to locate her, especially in a crowd. Plus, this school seemed to have a lot of girls with red hair around... Still, he could spot P.K. anywhere. It was ingrained in his DNA. Not that science could exactly back that up, but STILL! Scanning the crowd, he saw someone waving at him--P.K.!

It didn't take long to make his way to her in the crowd. "P.K.!" he exclaimed. "I thought I'd lost you!" He threw his arms around her, his lip wobbling. "And that would be the worst thing in the world! I can't live without you, P.K.! You're my everything!" True to form, he didn't quite understand the depth of what he was saying. But also true to form, he meant every word.

In a complete 180, Ricky let go of Perci as quickly as he'd hugged her, facing the dorms with his hands on his hips. "Now that the team is back together, we're ready to face the year! And hopefully, they cleaned the mascot costume this year! It's quite a bummer to hang out at football games if I can barely breathe." He accepted his key from his best friend, grinning down at her. "Thanks for grabbing my key! I guess they're used to this from me by now, huh?"

Then he remembered. "Oh, gosh. I have three new roommates this year. All of mine graduated last year. I hope they like me! I mean, as long as I have you, I'm alright, but it would SUCK if all three of them hated me." Even the thought of that made him depressed. "You've still got Megan and Carter, right? At least you already have an established relationship with them. But we can still do our homework together, right? Depending on how this all pans out, I'm gonna need my P.K. time to help me recuperate."

And of course, he wouldn't be Ricky if he didn't notice the enormous spread of food spread out in the lounge area. "Okay, P.K., I know we gotta move in, but can we pleeeeeeease get some food first? Pleeeeeeease?" he begged, giving Perci his puppy dog eyes. His puppy expression wasn't nearly as good as Perci's, but he knew how to use it--and it only seemed to work on Perci, luckily for him.

  • A smile lit up Terry's face at the appearance of one of her roommates, Gidget. "Gidget, darling! You're welcome to as many beignets as you want." She giggled a bit at the powdered sugar now spread across her roomie's face. Plucking a napkin from the pile, she came around the table and dabbed some of the sugar off Gidget's cheeks, nodding when she had been satisfactorily taken care of. It seemed her motherly instincts kicked in quite a lot around Gidget and her other roommates. But that just spoke to how much she loved them.

"I just barely dropped off my bags before I came here--is Walt still installed? They didn't take him away, did they?" Terry had been Gidget's roommate since the beginning, so they'd both witnessed some unfortunate meddling from the staff when it came to Gidget's handiwork. While she understood why they interfered, she also found it a little rude. If she could use the kitchens all night, surely Gidget could use her skills to test out some inventions on her ready and willing roommates.

"I'm looking forward to the performances. Chas is sure to light up the stage, as always! Think we can get her away from that musclehead this year?" She bumped hips with Gidget as she looked back over towards the performance area. If she had anything to say about it, this was going to be the year they would all get Chastity away from Chad forever. And maybe they'd finally be able to help match her with someone she liked better... It was only fair for WDU's resident matchmaker, after all.

"I don't like Justin"
maya kamaka
Maya snorted "Zee, you in the kitchen? I don't think you have a chance of lowering that high probability." She said as she gives Zara a plate. The thing is, even if the apple pie pancakes were horrible, she would still eat it with a smile because her best friend made it for her. This is why whenever the redhead had experiments that needed testing, usually Maya was the one to volunteer. What can she say? She's a sucker for redhead girls. She watched as her best friend finished eating, and reached out for Maya who took her hand leading her to the car. Maya got into the driver's side while Zara was in the passenger side.

Maya started to drive. She watched as her best friend looked out the window, and she smiled as she drove towards the university. Then she saw her frown and heard her mumble about Justin. "You know my opinion on that, if you don't have feelings for him, then you need to break up with him." She said softly as she took Zara's hand into hers "I care about you Zar, and I can tell you aren't happy with him. And not to mention, he's a pure idiot. " Maya said softly trying to make her smile. "I mean so am I, but at least I try to understand what you are saying. Even got a chemistry book downloaded on my phone. He just...doesn't get you." She sighed softly. This wasn't a new conversation or topic. She tried to tell Zara before, that what she needed was to give up on this belief of popularity. All she needed was her true friends...to feel that kind of completeness.

To be honest, Maya was doing this to be selfish. She couldn't bear to see her best friend unhappy...especially with someone who she knew didn't understand her. Not the way she did. She knew how important it was to her to be popular, how important it was to be the one that everyone wanted to be. She just need that she must rather have Zar, that give her hugs when she was upset, who didn't care how it looked that she was close to her best friend, that saw that she was loved whether she was popular or not. "I know that being the one that everyone wants to be, is important to you...I just...I want you to be happy. And it hurts to see that you aren't." She looks at their combined hands "I see the fake smiles, the fake laughs, the way you look at him...it's not real and for once I want you to be real Zara. This college thing is only for 2 more years and we may be separated...afterward. With you becoming the top scientist or whatever you want to be. Me...writing my first book. " She said softly as she pulls into the school parking lot.

"I want these to be the best years of our lives together. I'm not ready to be separate from you quite yet. " She looked at Zara "If he makes you happy, then that's awesome, ignore everything that I just said..." Maya takes a deep breath "But if he doesn't? Break up with him...and find what truly makes you happy...and you never know..maybe you get your happy ending." She whispers softly as she kissed her cheek softly. Maya then shook her head.

"Enough with the serious talk, let's get out there and mingle. Maybe even see a cute guy for you or a cute girl or guy for me. Actually...maybe we get lucky and I run into Ara again. That girl is adorable!" She said smirking as she looked out the window seeing all the students coming onto school grounds.

Maya needed a distraction from her feelings, and Arabella was perfect for that.

Dorm Room 5

interactions

Cesar & Blake (m.), Devin

Mae had already made her way to school a day earlier from the Misfits home. She always loved to get herself settled in, through her own tempo. It felt much better to know she can settle down and enjoy her first days back to school rather than trying to cram everything into one hour. The packing, the introductions, the performances... everything in terms of a few minutes. She only allowed that rush when she had to perform and that was it. Plus, there were some fellow students that enjoyed entering early that she would love to get to know. That being said, she was not alone. Her best friend, her brother, Devin was with her.

The female already had her stuff unpacked in her room which opposed the one of her fellow misfit brother, Cesar. As much as Mae liked to socialise most of the time, she was grateful that she had someone close to home with her in the dorm room. She really felt close to the other misfits. Blake finding her on the pavement back in Arizona was truly a blessing for her as she got to meet some of the closest people she now called family. She will forever cherish her for what she did with all of them. Thankfully, her guardian and sparring partner was also a professor there as well as her misfit siblings which attended the same school. Her dance uniform was already neatly hung outside of her wardrobe, together with her dance shoes which hers were more often than not ballet shoes. With all those preparations, she had awaited Devin as he was sleeping over in her room given the majority of the school was to arrive the following day. That way it did not get lonely. The pair had watched a movie and called it an early night due to her performing. True, Mae was an excellent dancer but the female was a klutz. Hence, she needed to be well rested and fully focused for the following morning.

At that tone, at around 06:30am, her phone started vibrating and ringing for the black haired female to wake up. With a groan, a hand was revealed from under the duvets, scrambling for the source of loudness. As it fumbled, Mae accidentally hit the phone and sent it down to the floor, hearing a thud. Her heart sank. As she shot up from under the covers, a bed headed Mae was revealed.
"Please do not be broken, please do not be broken..."
she hoped as she reached down for the phone and turned it over to turn off the alarm,
"Shit..."
. The screen was not broken but it had some scratches on the side. She definitley did not afford any more phones. She had already broke three.

"Well, I'm up... might as well get ready,"
she jolted up and went to the bathroom to start making her make up look for the performance. Mae did not enjoy make up but for her dance performances she quite enjoyed it. With that she proceeded to wear the uniform which was hugged with the school's colours: blue, gold and white. She then brushed her hair out from the messy state it was and lifted it up into a high ponytail, trying to bobby pin some extra hairs. With those final touches, she went to the room Devin was temporarily sleeping in her dorms and knocked,
"Dev, you up yet? We need to start heading out."
