Futuristic Wait, What Just Happened? {Take Two}

HappyBeingMe

That Music Loving Loner

"I don't know what's happening!" The assistant yells as she presses all of the buttons on the machine. "Turn it off!" Demands the scientist as he tries to pry the doors of the contraption open. Inside there are screaming teens, yelling for the scientist to let them out.

All of a sudden a flash of blue light fills the room and a loud suction sound can be heard. The doors of the machine slide open and the scientist falls to his knees. "They're gone." He says as he puts his head in his hands. "We've sent them back in time."

Prototype was called a prototype for a reason! However science seemed to disagree with him at the time. "Shut it down!" Henry's voice was rough and demanding, almost scary. He banged at the door to the machine multiple times despite the eye burning light in his face. His son was in there and if anything happened to him, or to any of them. No. Nothing will happen to them, don't think like that Blake! He growled trying to unhinge the thick steel door, but to no avail.

Henry stumbled back as everything in the room went dark, he looked around seeing white spots where the light had been coming from, yet other than that there was nothing. "Turn on the back up generators," he demanded. He heard the switch being turned on and the emergency lights flickered twice before turning on. Henry waited, and anticipated for the door to open, however it was still sealed shut. Smoke pushing it's way through the cracks of the door. "No," he murmured, "No, no!" he called pulling at the lever to open the door, still nothing. Henry ran and snatched up the fire extinguisher and ran back to the machine using the extinguisher the break the lever, causing the door to slip open with ease.

He coughed as the smoke within the machine filled the room, and he put out the flames that were causing the smoke. As the lights flickered on, more sparks flew from fired pieces of the machine, the smoke cleared leaving Henry in utter shock and despair as he looked in the open and broken machine. They were gone... All of them... Even his own son.

Matthew stared at a test tube in his lab. His lab was quite big, brick walls with tall ceilings and a few large windows that let lots of light spill in. There were various work tables, lined with lots of bottles and various pieces of tesla technology. He was looking for a good liquid to mix with electricity to make a battery like device. Portable electricity, he trying to make the future happen now. He mixed some chemicals together, it was just a normal day of testing for him. When suddenly his two of his tesla coils turned on he looked at them as a bright light appeared.

"I thought those were off."

As he walked up the light got brighter. He quickly took off his glasses and put on his goggles. As he walked over to the sitch he realized it was off. He wondered what was going on, when the light started to dim.

Go in the time machine. They said.

It would be fun. They said.

Well it WASN'T fun. Now they were stuck.

A very loud scream escapes Alice's mouth when the machine starts smoking. She clings onto the nearest person to her, digging her head into their shirt and shaking violently. "I don't wanna die! I'm to young for this!" She yells, her legs were like jelly. She hears Doctor Blake trying to get them out of the machine and she screams again. "I want to go home!" Tears were falling from her eyes and she lets out a choked sob when a strange feeling hits her stomach. It was like she was on a fair ride that never stopped, her stomach doing flips and her brain jiggling in her skull. She wanted off of this ride... She wanted off.

Trent Was shocked by the grabbing. "Hey, I want off of this as much as you, okay?" He had been taken here too, but his brain felt fuzzy about the how right now. "THIS ISINT FUNNY!!!!" he yelled. He wanted it to be a joke.... but he knew it was not...

Ignis stood within the shaking contraption his back pressed against the wall forcefully as his fingers uselessly clung to the vertical walls beside him. His shoulders shaking and hunched forward as he was unaware of what to do in such a situation. His blood pumped through his veins quickly in time with the constant drum like pound of his heart banging into his weak ribs. The boys breaths tight and strained, as he attempted to calm himself down knowing that his inhaler was within the labs quarters along with his other accessories he didn't find necessary to bring inside. How stupid he had been.

As his limbs became numb and his senses dulled making the yells and voices surrounding him to become quiet as if he stood on the other side of a ten foot thick wall. He found it difficult to stand and stumbled to the right into the shoulder of a larger boy around his age, Bellamy was his name if he remembered correctly the son of the scientist which sent them inside of this thing. Ignis' need for air and his inhaler intensified and he couldn't help but grip the teens shoulder for balance clenching his eyes shut and trying to shut everything off and return his breaths to normal.

What was this? And why where they experiencing it? What sins had they performed to receive such a fate, such an undesirable and unknown fate? But if this where to be the end, Ignis wished for it to be fast and painless.

Fast.

And.

Painless.

Please.

Bellamy was right at the door, ripping, pulling and pushing at the handle to get out. He pounded on the door harshly, hard enough to cause bruises. "Dad!" he yelled over the shouts as if it would in any way help with the situation. Bell continued to pound hard against the door, almost certain that he would have no feeling in his pinky finger if he kept it up. "Dad!" he yelled one last time as someone had stumbled against his arm and was now using it to claw into his flesh harshly. But Bell really couldn't blame them. He didn't even care who it was, he stepped back from the door wrapping his arm around the person waiting for the end to come, squeezing his eyes shut tightly and letting his breath get caught in his throat. Waiting, and waiting for the end that was never ending to come...

Tali eyes were painfully shut, mouth drawn into a thin line, trying in vain to cloud her mind...some way to block out the yelling and other assorted noises. Her heart was pounding and a cold sweat was starting to break out as she kept her hands jammed in her pockets. Some sickly feeling was building in the pit of her stomach and she was mentally chastising herself.

Stupid...so stupid! Why would I ever trust people like these? Why did I even consider such an offer? Why aren't I back home?

Opening her eyes, her heart dropped into her stomach as she realized this was all very much real. Tali stood in a corner of the tin can of death, opting to stay away from the others so she could helplessly punch at the metal walls, more of a way to relieve stress than to punch a hole and crawl out with minuscule chances.

She could hear one of the scientists outside, probably trying with all his power to get them free and he was failing miserably. The occupants inside were faring no better, some were clutching onto others, some were yelling and screaming, everything about this situation did nothing to calm her nerves.

Turning around, Tali put her forehead against the metal wall behind her, hands clutching her hair as she tried her best to block out this realistic nightmare...if only it was a nightmare.

Gwendel looked around the "time machine" she had decided to get into. She turned her head quickly, her long, white hair hitting the face of another poor, unfortunate teenager in the small capsule. Her head started to race as her heart pounded. Her skin began to tingle and the light hair on her arms rose up. "Uh," she said quietly, clearing her throat. "I don't mean to be a bother, but what's happening?" Even in stressful situations like this, Gwen could keep calm. Plus, the more calm people were, especially when this close together, the easier it was to feel calm. Rational decisions needed to be thought of. She closed her eyes, and breathed in slowly. "Relax." Her voice was soft, sweet.

A sharp pain hit Gwendel's stomach and her eyes shot open. Dark, black make-up making her beautiful, dark brown eyes pop. "Ouch." she said quietly. "Wha-" she stopped, her words almost being replaced with vomit. Her face grew paler than her already pale skin as she doubled over, using her hands to prop herself up against her thighs. The vomit subsided and , fortunately, never surfaced. "Can we get off now?" she asked, her voice shaky and her eyes a little teary.

She looked around at the others, who seemed to be just as concerned as she was. Why had she even agreed to come onto this thing. If Traves found out... Hopefuly it would be fixed very soon. Traves was very protective of Gwendel. She was all he had left. And he was everything to her. Please, don't let me die. I promised I could take care of myself today.

Matthew looked at the big metal object that appeared in his lab. So many questions running through his mind.

What is this? How did it get here? is it dangerous? Safe? What's in it?

All he managed to say was

"How?"

He could hear voices inside of it. He hesitated a bit as he reached out towards the handle. He knew Mary would not like him near or touching strange objects that appeared out of nowhere. He opened up the door on the metal object and smoke poured out, inside were young people. He couldn't believe it. Even more questions were running through his head. He didn't want to be rude.

"Hello. Where did you all come from."

He was wearing his usual lab outfit. The way they dressed and looked was odd. They were not from the present or the past, so that must mean.

Future? No that's, that's impossible!

His expression was one of confusion and delight.

((OOC: there is a picture of his lab outfit on his character sheet))

Alice's legs gave out on her and she fell to the ground, falling on somebody's feet. "S-Sorry." She says through her tears, pulling her legs up to her chest and crying into her knees. The feeling in her stomach was getting worse, and she felt like she would lose her lunch soon. Her stomach gurgled, but she held it back. She didn't want to mess up anybody's shoes, even if they were going to die.

Soon there was a big 'jerking' motion in the capsule and Alice's eyes popped up. They weren't dead, well, they might be dead. Is this hell? She asks herself, then shakes her head. She didn't believe in hell, or heaven, so she puts the questions out of her mind. She looks around her, there wasn't very much light in the tight space. When the man opens the capsule Alice squeeks, and hugs her knees tighter. He looked strange, and he was definitely not from her time.

((OOC: This is just an announcement. Now that all six teens have had their intro we can post freely. Just don't take things to fast. Also! Please post at least a paragraph.. Or just more than two lines please. @gogojojo331 ))

"Yea..." He said to Alice... secretly he liked her clinging to him.... He looked up at the man. "Who are you, is the question here?"He said to him, stepping out of the. "Well..." He looked around at the walls and decorum if the lab. "We aren't in Kansas anymore...." he looked back at the scientist. "Nor are we where anyone would get the reference..."

Ignis was a bit surprised by the strong arm which wrapped around his thin frame, but was slightly revealed by the fact that he didn't have to worry about standing on his own. His right hand twitched at his side nervously his breaths unable to return to their even and patterned routines from before. The teens knees hit one another as he awaited for the machine to stop and cause the death of each of them. But when it did, making his form halt a moment the air around them and they where still alive he was shcoked to say the least. They where each alive, and where fairly healthy all except for the trauma which came with the trip. But he knew on the other side of the doors they'd be within the room of Blakes quarters and he'd be able to grab his inhaler and his attack would cease.

"Alive.." Ignis breathed out quietly in response as he ran a shaky hand through his brunette hair his blue eyes skill bright with worry. When he realized he was still holding onto Bell beside him he lightly pushed himself off of his shoulder and into the wall beside him where he had been before.

"Sorry.." He apologized to the boy as he glared at his shoes until another one of the teens statements made him look up and catch sight of a whole new room. Ignis' eyebrows knitted together in concern and confusion as to where they where.

Bell waited and waited, but the worst he got was a little jerk forward, like if he stopped too fast while driving. That was it; he took a glance down at Ignis to see the state he was in, he just brushed it off, "It's okay," he said. Then his head turned to the sound of the voice that defiantly was not his father. Where did they even end up? What happened? Was this all just some big joke that his dad thought to be funny. However when he had a good clear view of the room-or lab he should say- he could tell that this was not a joke. "Where are we?"he questioned,"Where's my dad?" he added looking around as if his father would pop from the shadows to greet them after the traumatic experience.

"I've seen a lot of books in my time..." He said to the others. "I'f I'm right, It could be one of two things.... We teleported to a steam-punk festival, or..." he looked out the nearest window, ignoring the man. "OH MY GOD!!!" he shouted. "WE WENT BACK IN TIME!!!" he said, as he saw carriages and bland looking men and women with their prissy dresses.

Hell continued to break loose when the machine abruptly stopped, jerking her away from the wall. Catching herself from falling over she peered into the near darkness, only able to make out the silhouettes of the others. Nobody really made much noise, the occasional murmuring and then the pop of the door...opening! Light poured in from the opening where a man stood outside, calling out.

Narrowing her eyes at the man she studied him from across the machine, the way he was dressed was.....odd. Then realization hit her like a brick.

This stupid machine couldn't have worked? No...no...no...this is...terrible! It actually worked! Oh those dirty scientists! Dammit!

Intent on finding out where exactly they were, or finding out that this was some sick prank, she moved forward, shouldering her way past the oddly dressed man, not caring if she was rude.

Standing outside, she took a moment to survey her surroundings and slumped her shoulders, mouth open in shock and disbelief.

"What...is...this..."

Was all she could manage, the buildings she could see were vaguely familiar as if she'd seen the architecture before in a school textbook, but she couldn't place her finger on it.

Matthew watched as one of the teens made a statement about Kansas.

Isn't that the place that became a state about 30 years ago.....

He was lost in his own thoughts as the second one came out of the capsule. He started to wander to one of his work benches to retrieve his glasses when he heard one of them called for their dad.

"I'm sorry but, I am the only here at the moment."

He took off his goggles setting them down on his work bench. He put on his glasses when he was caught off guard by one of them yelling.

"Hold on! Did you just say you went back in time?"

His eyes widened with excitement.

"What year was it where you came from."

He grabbed a note book as a girl shoved passed him.

"Excuse me miss I would not go out there if I was you."

He was fine with the future people but, others in the town might not be as accepting as him.

"I believe the Victorian era, to be precise..." He smiled. "And we might just be here at the exact same spot where the machine was made..."
He looked at the man. "We are from the year 2014, to be precise, August 12th." He shook the mans hand. "And what is your name, guy who can hopefully get us back home?" he then let his had go, and got some hand sanitizer. "Not taking any chances..." He said, rubbing his hands vigorusly.

"Oh." Gwendel tilted her head. "But why?" she stepped out of the machine and towards the man in the room. Her eyes widened. Noting this time period, she probably looked like a harlot."Oh, wow. That's great. Wow." she gulped and held her hands in front of her. "Yes, we can't go outside." She quickly turned her attention to the scientific man in the room. "You! Oh- I mean... uh" her face began to blush. She was so terrible at speaking. "Sir, can you help us?" she asked quietly, averting her gaze to the floor. Hopefully he could just beam that back soon. She dreaded the idea of having to wear the uncomfortable clothes of this time. The corsets that were designed to shrink women's waists drastically. The idea of being so incredibly modest that you had to wear many layers of clothing. She felt itchy just thinking about it. She stopped when she noticed that one of the girls had actually left the building. Was she insane? "Um, I would.. get her?" she was uncertain.

"Good idea." Alice says, standing up shakily. "We can't risk getting caught while we're here. People will think we're crazy." She says, walking out of the capsule and standing beside the girl with white hair. "In the meantime, Doctor, do you perhaps have clothing that we can wear while we're here?" She asks the doctor, so many people were going to ask him questions, but she had a feeling he'd do the same to them. She didn't want to wear the ugly clothing of this era, but she wanted to explore the place without getting looked at as if she had two heads. People would take one look at her skinny jeans and ask her if she was sane.

2014?! That's 125 years from now!

He absent mindedly shook the boys hand as he was lost in his own thoughts.

"Oh yes, sorry. My name is Matthew Wakefield and you are in my lab, in the year 1889."

He then pondered on his other question.

"I would get you get back to you're time but,"

He looked at the capsule they arrived in, he was not familer with the technology. He also didn't realy understand time travel.

"I'm afraid I don't know how to."

He looked at the capsule. Time travel, it was really possible. He looked back at the teens.

"What we should do now is get all of you into approite attire. My house is next door."

He walked over to a door and opened it, his wife looked in.

"My dear before you say anything, they are from the future."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mary heard the door to the lab open and walked over to the door. She saw the strange people in the lab and before she could say anything Matthew told her they were from the future. She looked skeptical.

"The future?"

She looked at him for a second before approaching the teens. She smiled.

"My poor dears this must be, stressful for you. Why don't you come in and I will fetch some more appropriate clothes for you."

She gestured towards the door. She giggled a little at one of the girl's comments.

"Oh my dear Mr. Wakefield is not a doctor. He is a professor though."

In her mind a doctor was medicine type person.

"Oh where are my manners. My name is Mary Wakefield but please, just call me Mrs. Wakefield."

She walked through the door back into the house. She stood in the modest sitting room waiting for the others to come in.

"Pleased to meet you Ms. Wakefield." He said, and bowed to her. "I apologize for our intrusion, and this must come as a shock to you." He looked at the doctor. "Would you like to interview me one on one about the future?" he said.

Tali's eyes widened at the revelation of the time period she was in. 1889! Peeking outside from the nearest window, she groaned in defeat at the old styles of apparel and absentmindedly nodded at the man's suggestion on not going outside.

Tali looked at her clothing, suddenly feeling insecure and very out-of-place. Her black jeans, the worn sneakers, the tan jacket and white undershirt, they'd probably hang her...a thought occurred...what would they do if they saw her tattoo? As far as she knew they didn't have tattoos at this point.

To make matters worse, the idea to dress up in this time period's clothing came up...from two people! She sighed, visibly exasperated but followed the man through a door and into his house, a friendly woman waiting for them. Tali could only cry internally as she got a closer look at the type of clothing that females had to wear.

This interaction triggered some emotions from deep inside her being. Tali got the sudden feeling that she needed somebody to keep her conscious, she muttered an obscenity as her dependent attitude was starting to surface.
