Volonil Sewers

The underbelly of Volonil where many Meta-humans have been using to travel through the city. Those who have mutations which cause them to stand out compared to normal humans have taken to living in the sewer system to avoid detection. Rumors of horrid beats immune to bullets and conventional weaponry have spread causing many civilians and military to think twice before entering unprepared.

This thread are for people who spend most of their time in the sewers. If you are going from point A to point B and have no intention of stopping to chat you do not need to stray from the main thread.

Volonil City Sewer

Lorelei could just about hear her paw as they padded along in the sewer. The river seemed as if it had slowed down but Lorelei decide if it was just in her head. The sewers were making her feel repulsed and she wished that she'd soon find a way out. She has been hopeful that the longer she was in the sewers the less noticeable the stench would be but she was being proved wrong. It was as if with every step she took the worse it was, it was in times like these she wished she didn't have a heightened sense of smell but she knew it was best to be in her wolf form. After all she needed to get away from the people who were looking for her and it meant that she would be able to hear and smell them before they managed to get too close. She was careful where she was going since it was new territory for her. Even in her wolf form she wasn't overly confident that she wouldn't find herself getting lost.

Whilst she was wrapped up with the thoughts of her hunger she thought she caught a glimpse of something in the corner of her eye. Immediately she frozen with her nose in the air and sniffed. She didn't recognise the scent but curiosity tools over. As she crept keeping towards the wall as close as possible she soon realised what it was that she saw. It was a girl, she looked about a year younger than Lorelei. Lorelei slowly padded towards her and and growled, it wasn't very fierce but it was enough to ensure she acknowledged her presence.

Volonil City Sewer

Penny flinched from the ladder rungs as a sudden noise sprouted from the darkness beside her. Looking over in interest, Penny's eyes brightened as she realized that the sound was coming from what looked like a...a....a giant rat! It had the fur, and the four legs, and even the teeth! Oh the teeth! Penny felt the hunger within her surge to the surface as she observed the moving morsel of food that would probably close to as good as a human would be like. Stumbling forward, Penny reached up her hands when a sudden realization hit her.

She was, once again, being lead away from her original goal by the hunger she had always dealt with, lived by. Yet, now she could fight back. She could understand! Forcefully stopping herself, Penny gurgled, slime falling from her open lips, and turned back towards the ladder. She refocused her control and placed a firm grip on the ladder rungs, a small amount of sizzling filling the air as she pushed and pulled simultaneously, lifting herself up the ladder
slowly as the slime in her arms started to naturally dense together, forming something similar to muscles.

Penny gurgled as she got higher and higher, closer and closer to the Hole God, his small dots of light calling to her as she made her way up to him, and the world he had protected for a very long time, waiting to give it all to her. Penny had to stop herself from losing control again as the thought of all those humans spoke to her, caressing her thoughts, filling them with images of all the edible things she would find in this "Outside". Reaching the the metal plate that sealed her way out into the outside, Penny easily reached out and lifted the metal plate. Penny closed her eyes as she readied herself for what she was about to see, imagining the wonders she would be able to eat.

Penny opened up the lid, and pushed herself up, her arms catching onto the side of the streets concrete as she looked around. It was all....so...
terrifying! Penny screamed as she looked around, all the sounds of the admittedly quiet city spooking her. Where were the walls, and the dampness, and the...what was that!? Penny kept on screaming as she spotted the giant yellow dot in the sky, the presence of it reminding her of the Hole God, but much more monstrous in size. Penny's terror made her body freeze up, literally, and she dropped like a rock. Penny hit the ground with a thud, her density too tough to go splatter like before, but still causing Penny to jar a bit as she hit the ground hard.

Jennifer "Jenny" Johnson

Volonil City Sewers

An uncomfortable silence fell over the four souls that remained in the sewers of the quarantined city. Jenny slowly straightened her back but didn’t dare to take her eyes off of the group of supposed kidnappers nor the boy she had ran into. She backed up ever so carefully, she could feel the ground collapse behind her into the dirty sewage water that ran underground. Having gone to the very edge of the walkway, Jenny stood as still as a statue, her mind running wild with possible escape routes.

There was an open manhole just above the heads of the pair of meta humans, the light that shone down into the sewers provided Jenny with a good enough view of the faces of the unusual people. What kind of people normally entered the sewers? Of course, Jenny already knew the answer to that question. They were meta humans, the dragon boy was undeniably mutated by the disease. Seeing as the tattooed man was in the company of the dragon boy, Jenny added him to her meta human list.

However, the boy with cyan eyes could also be thrown into that small list. Jenny did her best to stay away from the other meta humans, to keep from associating herself with them and increasing the risk of her getting caught. But, after a few moments, Jenny noticed that the boy with bright eyes was staring at the group of meta humans. Unless he worked for the government, an idea that should not be crossed out, Jenny decided that he too was a meta human.

Then, he moved. Jenny jumped back, nearly falling into the stream of water due to her surprise. However, much to Jenny’s shock and relief, the blue boy walked right past her and towards the group of meta humans. He did it without a word, without another glance at Jenny. It was like she wasn’t even there, he had completely ignored her. Jenny stood, shocked. She watched the boy walk away soundlessly, her eyes wide with confusion.

But then she realized that they could be her ticket out of the sewers. She didn’t have to associate herself with them. She could say that she had fallen into an open manhole, whose ladder was broken, and had gotten lost in the sewers until she miraculously found her way out. Sure, it did have its dangers but so did waiting for them to disappear and climb out of the sewers by herself. It took Jenny a few more seconds, arguing back and forth with herself before she turned her head to the retreating figures of the three boys.

“Hey! Wait up!” Jenny called out to the meta humans, or who she assumed were meta humans. Her voice was raspy and not that loud but the pipes carried it across to them. They were only a few meters away after all. Seeing as they would not stop and turn around to walk back to her, Jenny picked up her feet and began to run towards them. “Hey, where are you guys going?” Jenny huffed, her appearance still dishevelled from her little adventure in the sewers.

Slowing down to a jog, Jenny leaned forward a little bit to catch her breath. “H-hey, wait up..!” Pushing the strands of red that fell in front of her face back, Jenny picked up her pace but the group kept advancing forward and away from her. Tired and irritable, Jenny stopped running and simply walked towards him, a determined expression on her face. Jenny couldn’t help but feel offended, they ignored her when she was trying to ask for help! She was cold, miserable, and weary. All she wanted to do was go home. But little did Jenny know that she wasn’t going home after she made what she would call a huge mistake.

Wiping the muck off of her face, Jenny grit her teeth and spoke loudly. “You’re all meta humans, right?” Jenny took a second to regain her composure and wipe her hands on her jacket. She looked homeless and poor and her now dirty clothes weren’t exactly designer items in the first place. However, Jenny needed to get their attention. She was going to get out of this underground pipeline maze and go home before the nine o’clock curfew. And she would use any resource that she had. “I’ll report you. To the government that is.” By reporting meta humans, suspicions about her would practically disappear! Besides, it’s not like she was going to see them again.

Aleks Vitaly

Sewers

Aleks moved off to side, leaning his left shoulder against the wall, the cool concrete a nice feeling after being in a tunnel for so long. Irritated, helplessly lost, and a bit winded, he had no intention of continuing his trek right now so he settled on watching the slimy girl try to climb a ladder to the outside, her determination to do so cause slight concern about what would happen if she really did get to the surface. Maybe she'd get hit by a car. Maybe she'd get caught by the police and killed or imprisoned. Or maybe she'd go on an unstoppable rampage for a never ending quest of food.

Mulling over the variety of outcomes, he was surprised by yet more people...and the sound of impact as the slimy girl fell and hit the ground, thankfully her composition kept her alive but it still looked plenty painful. Frowning, he moved over to help the fallen girl, his eyes trained on the newcomers, two girls and a man with striking eyes.

Aleks reached a hand down to try and pull Penny up but he stopped short as he wondered if that would really do anything...and the sizzling from earlier did nine to quell his doubt. But a voice of a newcomer, the red haired one, rang out. Aleks's eyes narrowed at the mention of reporting.

"Meta humans? Them, sure. Me? Surely I don't look like one." Aleks shrugged, "and besides...if you were going to report Metas then why tell a group of them when you're by yourself...and in the sewers?" Aleks inquired, flashing a shit-eating grin at her.

"You don't have to look like a meta to be one." Jenny spat out, her own words stinging her. What the tattooed man said made sense to Jenny, she realized her mistake but she had to keep her calm. She remembered how she used to watch Animal Planet when she got bored and didn't want to do her homework. Animals could smell fear and from one little sniff of it, they will attack. Jenny knew it was wrong to compare meta humans to animals, especially since she was one herself, but she refused to associate herself with them. She didn't want to be taken away after all.

Stepping back and leaning on one foot, Jenny huffed and blew a strand of hair that kept falling on her face away and out of her line of sight. "Besides, I know that if I scream loud enough, the patrol will hear me and immediately come down and track you down." Jenny wasn't exactly sure of the patterns of the military patrols but she knew that someone would hear and alert the officials. Especially if they're one of those people who are completely paranoid about the meta humans and their powers.

Jenny often barked but her ability didn't allow her to bite. Even if she did bite, her saliva would get into the wound and heal it anyway. Her power wasn't even a double edged sword, it was like a carelessly running with scissors. Jenny knew that she would have to get out of these sewers quickly, preferable soon. She was prepared to use whatever she had to get out and home before the nine o'clock curfew. She didn't have a work permit after all. She didn't even work! The meta human group was her only chance of getting home in time.

"I just want to get out of the sewers." Jenny stated, folding her arms over her chest. "I simply slipped into an open manhole and ended up in here. All a complete accident." The red haired lady took a few steps towards the group but not in a threatening sort of way. She raised her hands up in front of her, not wanting anymore trouble from the meta humans. She knew that their powers were much more aggressive than hers. Unless she made them gain a few years physically but pouring out liters of her body's fluids on them. Then again, that would be, what? Only a few years? It was clear that all of them were still young. Her ability wasn't aggressive at all.

It obviously didn't suit her personality. Jenny sighed and stared at the ground for a few moments before snapping her gaze up at the group of meta humans. "You guys obviously know your way around here, without getting caught by the guards." Jenny glanced at the green tinted girl who seemed to be made out of a mushy and modifiable substance. "I simply would like help getting around the patrols," Lowering her hands and getting even closer to the group, as if they were wild animals that would attack her at any moment. "If I get home safe, then I won't report you."

"I promise." she said.

Still trying to conjure up some ideas on what to do if this person really was going to report them, he absentmindedly listened to her rant on. Her voice faded as his conscious delved into his mind, quickly trying to lay out plans of attack in case the newcomer bolted for escape. Externally she didn't look threatening, she looked like a mess if Aleks was to be completely honest. But like the saying goes, he couldn't judge her just yet, not when he hadn't seen any potential talent she had under her sleeve, some kind of trump card maybe. The most obvious choice was to shoot her square in the torso, the neon either burning right through her body or just knocking her down, it depended on his mood at the time. But chasing and calming her down would be the riskier, more stressing way as people didn't take kindly to being nabbed up and he briefly considered feeding her to Penny.

Snapping out of the daze Aleks caught her goal of wanting to get home.

"Well...as much as that sounds fun, you'd have to ask one them...don't know my way around here either."

Lorelei snapped out of the trance that she was in. She couldn't believe it, she was willing to attack this girl. She slowly retreated from the girl's eyesight, as soon as she could no longer see the girl she sprinted to where she'd left her clothes. Lorelei shifted back to her human form and changed. Every muscle and bone in her body ached and felt as if they were about to snap but she knew she had to find people to help get out of here.

Lorelei went the opposite way to where she'd just been. As she walked along she could hear her boots padding on the ground. She began to think about her hunger and regret of coming to the sewers but was soon distracted. Right in front of her were a small group of what seemed to be meta humans, this was her chance.

"So I'll take it that some of you know the way out of here then?" Lorelei said as she cautiously approaches the group.

Eric was starting to get irritated by the amount of people that were showing up. One minute, he was having a nice nap, dreaming about eating an entire cow to himself... Now this. He sighed deeply, an aggressive growl coming from deep within his chest.

"Jesus fuckin' Christ. What the fuck do I look like, a tour guide? If it'll get you morons out of my hair, I'll show you where to go." he growled, his wings twitching in irritation. His tail shot out when he heard more squeaking, spearing another rat.

"Hey Greenie, don't try to go up there. You'll just get yourself killed. Once it gets dark, I'll head topside and nab us some food." he called over to Penny, sighing as he started to walk towards the entrance to the hideout.

"Place is gonna be so fucking packed..." he groaned quietly as he snapped the rat's neck, twisting the head off with a sickening pop. He tossed it in his mouth and chewed loudly, bones crunching loudly.

"So, couple things before you guys go topside." he said, not even looking to see if anyone was following him.

"First, announce the fact that you're there. If not, you'll get killed on sight. I recommend something non-threatening, like 'Anti-meta task force! Everybody freeze!'" he said with a light, dangerous laugh.

"Second, if they don't kill you on sight, don't expect to stay there long. The place is packed as it is, and we don't need fucktards like you showing where we hide to all and sunder."

He stopped under the manhole, turning to take a few steps towards Jenny. He placed a heavy, blood-soaked hand on her head and grinned hugely, chunks of rat skull hanging from his teeth.

"Third, sweetheart... I'd tear your throat out before you got the chance to scream. So quit with the bullshit, you're about as threatening as this guy." he growled, holding up what was left of the eviscerated, headless rat corpse.

"You'll look like him too, if you don't get your shit in order. Now get the fuck outta here."

Volonil City Sewer

Penny gurgled as she picked herself up from the ground, stumbling even worse as she tried to erase the memories of the Outside. Stumbling over to the side of the wall, Penny let herself get dragged down by gravity, her slime leaving a trail on the wall. Now sitting on the ground, Penny put her knees to her chest and closed her eyes, the thoughts of what lay just above her terrifying her. That must have been the defender of the Humans or something, just as the Hole God looked after her. Maybe the Hole God had knew this would happen, and had tried to stop Penny from leaning the secrets of the outside world, an attempt Penny wished had been more successful. Then, maybe she wouldn't be literally pulling out her hair in slimy globs, the chunks instantly absorbing back into Penny, but the motion was calming.

Penny was silently shocked as she heard Eric's promise to go get her humans from the outside, her thoughts of the creature shifting as her askewed reality painted him to be a valiant hero. For a hero was the only thing someone could be to be willing to go up
there for some thing they just met, and deal with that horrific beast. She felt her acidic level raise once more as her concentration failed, the mental river that represented the force of her ability flowing heavily once more. This kind of stress was not helping her mental progress. Penny tried to listen as group she had been interacting with was intercepted by a very loud woman, whose voice was making it hard for Penny to not just eat her. There was also that giant rat...where was the giant rat? Maybe she could eat that.

Lorelei could tell she wouldn't get on him, she thought their personalities would clash. Despite the fact that she really didn't want to admit it, she knew that he had a point. She'd heard their conversation as she was walking around in the sewers.

Lorelei coughed in the hope that it would draw attention away from him and his threats. It was paining her to stay with them because it meant she had to rely on them, that was something she always hated. She stood shuffling her feet feeling rather uncomfortable and awkward.

"So as much as I hate to interrupt you and you're wonderful threat, I was just wondering could we just getting moving. I'm pretty sure everybody wants to leave, myself included" she said with a sarcastic tone especially when she said 'wonderful'

Volonil City Sewer

Penny gurgled as she saw the people around her converse with each other, feeling a slight empty feeling that was not prompted by hunger, yet was just as prevident. Looking around the dim tunnel, refusing to look anywhere towards the sky in fear of the Outside, Penny tried to overcome the strange sense of impatience she was feeling. She had felt this way before, sometimes during her chronic walks through the seemingly ever expanding tunnels, but she had usually had to deal with it until her hunger took hold and drove her to eat.

Yet, this time with the new amount of intelligence she seemed to be gaining, Penny felt the
presence even stronger than the norm, her new awareness seeing the lack of activity as too slow. Wondering what she could do, Penny suddenly had an idea, a ghost memory or such, of a strange pass time she had during the Before. The Before being the time where all of her Ghost Memories came from, which grant her nuggets of information that helped her in her many times of ignorance.

Raising her arms up, and placing her hand in the grip of its counterpart, before holding up the rough thumbs she had, the form of them having become quite more solid and detailed since her recent raise in intelligence. Putting the thumbs together, only
separated by about an inch of distance, Penny began to spinning them, the two thumbs seemingly trying to catch the end of the other as it was chased along.

However, some problems
occurred as Penny began twiddling her thumbs, problems that came in the form of the slow degradation of the appendages in use. Penny had been looking around the tunnel as she spun her thumbs, feeling her inner inactivity lessen as the motion kept going, but when she eventually looked back down, Penny's eyes widened as she gurgled in shock at the sight before her.

The two nubs that had been her thumbs were replaced with one glob of stringy slime that connected her two arms together. Penny tried to pull the string apart, but just like the puddle that would always follow her, it seemed this slime was being uncooperative for the time being. This didn't stop Penny from actively trying to get the slime to detach though, her
determination to get rid of this annoyance very strong. She never noticed that the feeling of inactivity she had been suddenly burdened with was completely gone.

Volonil City Sewers

Grimacing at the sight of the slaughtered sewer rats, Jenny didn’t dare point out the sanitary issues of consuming rats that lived in the sewers. She knew that such a topic wasn’t a good idea considering her circumstances. It was rather unfortunate that her ability didn’t apply to her, she could’ve been less careful with her choice of word that way. However, she knew a threat when she heard one, this specific threat was as obvious as the emperor’s new clothes. He paraded around with such confidence, it would only take one with foolish courage to point out the fault.

Jenny pursed her chapped lips and narrowed her eyes only to have her attention brought to a newcomer, a girl she hadn’t noticed enter the scene. The girl coughed and Jenny immediately turned her gaze to the sound but kept her attention on the dragon boy just in case he decided to turn her into one of those sewer rats. Oh, wouldn’t he love the benefits of her ability. Jenny wondered how many years he would age if he consumed her whole. However, she wouldn’t be alive to know the results either way so she simply dropped the topic in her head.

Seeing as she wasn’t the only one who wanted to leave the dreaded place, and the company that came with it, Jenny pushed herself a little farther, knowing that it wouldn’t be long until she was home. “Then why wait any longer?” The rhetorical question escaped Jenny’s lips as she turned towards the open manhole and mustered up enough strength to stride passed the meta humans confidently. “I only asked for a path clear without guards not a charity.” Jenny thought to herself. She didn’t dare make eye contact with any of them until she was partly up the ladder. “Clear, huh..?” She stated as she glanced back at the group of meta humans. “I’ll take your word for it.”

Turning her head to the side, Jenny sent the meta humans one last glance before pushing herself out of the sewers and onto the streets of Volonil city. She didn’t know if anyone followed behind her, nor did she really care. She wouldn’t see those people every again, she didn’t plan to either. Jenny brushed the dirt off of her clothing and stood up, taking in a deep breath of the clean air. Well, cleaner air than the sewers. Taking one step forward, Jenny’s eyes widened when she heard the sound of a loaded gun. Slowing down to a complete stop, Jenny stared at the ground in fear as she heard the standard line of words ring out into the streets.

“Put your hands where we can see them and turn around slowly.” The soldier’s voice was muffled by his helmet but it was clearly a man’s. By the sound of more guns locking and loading, Jenny knew that there were more than one, perhaps three, soldiers that had their weapons pointed straight at her and anyone else who stood next to her. “Cooperate and we will not hurt you.” Jenny knew that was a lie. “Stay where you are, we will come to you.” Not knowing what to do in this situation, Jenny clenched her teeth and did as she was told. There was really only one word in Jenny’s head during that moment. That word started with ‘F’ and ended with ‘K’.

Flank. Sweeping low and kicking the legs of the soldiers, Jenny sprinted away as fast as she could, hoping to get around the corner before the soldiers regained their balance. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. A bullet was fired, ripping through the air before nestling itself in the flesh of Jenny’s right calf. Jenny hissed with pain, knowing that wound wouldn’t heal for months if she survived this encounter. Falling flat on the concrete road, Jenny breathed heavily as she stared down at the ground. Doing her best to crawl away, Jenny’s efforts were smothered when one of the soldier’s stepped on her back, pushing her on the ground.

Turning her head to look up at the soldiers, Jenny’s eyes showed fear when she saw two guns pointed at her head.

The soldiers picked her up by the arms and pulled her up to her feet. Unable to walk properly due to the bullet wound in her leg, Jenny was pulled along by pavement by the soldiers, her left leg constantly hopping to keep herself vertical. “Hey! What are you doing?!” Jenny yelled at the soldiers, trying desperately to pull away from them. If anyone was with her, they would have been taken as well, grabbed by the soldiers. Gun pressed against her back, Jenny screamed for help, telling the soldiers that she was innocent. “Why are you doing this?! I’m innocent!” Jenny knew that no matter how this situation turned out, she wouldn’t be going back home. “Somebody help m—”

“Wait.” One of the soldiers held out a hand as he crouched next to the open manhole and glanced down into the darkness. Gesturing for the soldiers to bring Jenny to him with a hand, the soldier stood up and took a step back from the manhole. Holding his gun up and pointing it into the manhole, the soldier carefully watched it, his finger trailing over the trigger. “Push her in.” the soldier stated and his comrades complied. “We will follow after her.”

Jenny just hoped that the meta humans in the sewers wouldn’t get the wrong idea when soldiers came storming down the open manhole. Well, she couldn’t run away so once again, Jenny had to rely on the meta humans in the sewers. Why couldn’t she have gotten a more aggressive ability like blood manipulation or levitation? But before Jenny could think of an answer to her question, the soldiers dropped her into the open manhole. She had a few seconds before the soldiers followed so she simply screamed, “Run quickly!” And the soldiers slammed into the sewers, closing the manhole as they entered.

This was both a right decision and a horrible mistake. The meta humans could not escape easily because closing the manhole cut off the closest escape route. The soldiers could not escape easily because they closed the manhole. Jenny, she couldn’t run either way. She simply laid there, off to the side, like a sitting duck.

Volonil Sewers

Penny gurgled as she saw the rather sour looking girl fall through the Hole God, her presence only making a slight impact on her mind as she continued to stare at the Hole God. With her arms by her side, the appendaged detangled from themWhen she had went through the Hole God she had found a world that was horrid, yet prosperous, one that seemed to scare off even the most confident of people. The girl, one who had seemed to be filled, almost overflowing, with confidence, was also ejected from the world of the Humans, even though, her fall was much more graceful than her own had been, though that might just be the lack of leftover scraps of skin from her impact that made it seem that way. However, Penny was stopped from her own self-deprecating way of thinking as a very weird rumbly sound came from the Hole God. Did the Hole God have a cold? Could Hole Gods get colds?

Yet, as Penny was about to turn and ask Eric about it, which would probably only cause confusion for the Meta, Penny felt her being jump as a horde of men in black suits jumped into the darkness, the Hole God containing its light once more as it was closed. Penny felt the hunger within her surge to the top as she watched the men surround her and the others. These-These were humans...humans, sh-she could eat. Right? Right!? Penny felt the intelligence she had been nurturing take a backseat as the
instinct she had lived with her entire existence took back the drivers wheel. The need to feed. Her body dropping into a puddle, Penny tensed her body as she coiled her insides, filling the entire space within her with potential energy. Releasing the potential energy, and changing it to Kinetic energy, Penny launched from her puddle into the sky towards the group of soldiers.

Targeting a small collection of the soldiers, Penny ignored how their bullets tore through her skin, easily sliding in and out through the back with no major damage done to her nerves. Her body thinning out and stretching in mid-air, Penny's skyward form resembled a thick net as it fell on the targeted soldiers, her slime wrapping around the small group of about three
soldiers. Subconsciously splitting into three parts, Penny's slimes gathered up into the more crevice like parts of the body, such as the armpits, and under the knees, drilling into the soft and unprotected skin like spears, sizzling easily being heard as Penny revamped her acidic level. Her bits and pieces flowed into the screaming soldiers, who at this point had dropped their guns and were on the ground writhing as their insides were beginning to get eaten up by the green meta slime. The area around Penny's entry parts were slowly tinting green as the presence of Penny's slime made their skin decompose in only a way Penny could accomplish.
