There is no physical damage. When you break a soul ring, you feel a pinch in your chest. Keep in mind that the deeper you go the harder soul rings are to break, so the more intense the pain. It usually doesn't get worse than that.

The only difference is that human magic can't affect the other. This is caster specific, meaning that a dragon mage can go to a spellsmith and get a spell and use it, and a human mage can get the same spell, but the dragon mage's spell won't affect the human and vice versa.

if someone proposes a spellsmith character I'll happily let them control that character. However yes, I'll have a few spellsmiths where you guys can get spells from.
Marcus is the Dragon born yes? If so perhaps he and Shin could have some kind of rivalry going on. They both stay in The same counrty and with one being a dragon hunter and the other a dragon bandit it could be an interesting dynamic. Shin could be the one who managed to get away, and marcus could be the one who outclassed shin sparking a bitter rivalry.

So I'm going to start making a plot based on the characters I've received so far. To anyone still wondering if they can come in absolutely, but please make a non-dragon character. If you're worried that'll be boring (or you just want ideas) let me know and I'll put in yet another section in the lore about specific jobs and careers in Visifia. If you guys want me to do that anyways, let me know. The more detail the better am I right?
Here's the plot premise I have so far:
-It's going to take place in Caligook and Ivaeus.
-There's a woman named Alais who's been a spy in Queen Averian's court for several months (I'll post scenes from her time there so you guys get a feel for her character as well as Averians and the other members of the court). Her job is to learn of dragon mine shipments and, eventually, provide the means for a regime change. That changed when Alais became pregnant, and the children (she's having twins) were a dragon and a dragonborn. Averian took this to mean Alais betrayed the queen, despite Alais' claims that she was forced into pregnancy. Alais is now five months pregnant with twins, and spends her days in a jail cell. The Queen has said that if Alais is loyal to the queen she'll kill the children when they're born. If she does so, then Averian will let her resume her duties on the court.
-Here's where you come in. Natallia Gingifi is famous among dragon thieves for her skill and record, and she is asking for help to go rescue Alais. You don't have to edit your characters to make a relationship with Natallia, but if you're a dragon thief or trapper you will have heard of her. If you don't fit that description, I'm pretty creative (you might've gotten a sense of that) and I'll fit you in somehow.
That's one plot idea I've come up with. I have other less detailed ones, such as a quest of sorts to find the dragon royal family, or a war brewing between Ivaeus and Girranon. Or a plot I call "Infection Spells" but that one will likely need to involve more spellsmiths than what we have.
